Love the Gingerbread keyboard, one problem. The sound is terrible! Would it be possible to replace the sounds in the Keyboard with those from the Windows Phone 7 Keyboard? I'm running Core Cell V1.4 with Buzz OC 1.5.1 kernel V1.06 if you need to know, so is it possible? And if so how do I do it?
Any bit of help is appreciated
I to am interested in the Windows Phone 7 keyboard sound. Does anyone have the sound in a wav file? or any audio format?
+1 here, I am very interested in the stock phone 7 sound on gingerbread keyboard as well.

Someone did extract the wav files for the sounds but they havent been able to get it to work for the keyboard
do you have a link to the wav files? thx
Works somewhat, need someone to try and fix it
I found WP7 sound files here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=840898
I used free http://alternativeto.net/software/formatfactory/about
to convert wp7 keyboard sound file .wav to .ogg
with root access, mount R/W, replace stock files in:
/system/media/audio/ui/
KeypressDelete.ogg
KeypressReturn.ogg
KeypressSpacebar.ogg
KeypressStandard.ogg
KbdAccentPicker.wav - didn't use
KbdFunction.wav - sound the same as spacebar.wav
KbdKeyTap.wav - converted, renamed to KeypressStandard.ogg , KeypressDelete.ogg
KbdSpacebar.wav - converted, renamed to KeypressSpacebar.ogg
I haven't figure out what is the right converting setting so that new file would work correctly (bitrate maybe?). When type fast, the sound couldn't keep up. Hope someone can help!
Attachment has all the files needed, original wp7 & android file, and the converted & renamed .ogg

The audio sound quality and volume has been greatly improved on IncDoes's desire hd port. The audio through the headphone jack sounds better and is much louder. What file or files are in direct relation to this? Basically, what file or files do I need to rip out of his Rom to apply this to another Rom?
EDIT (10-10-10): about a week or so ago i did get the result i was looking for. i copied and pasted probably about a dozen or so files from the Desire HD rom to the Virtuous rom i am running and i did get this to work. i just have no idea whatsoever, which file actually did it.
i'd like to get this figured out so that i can apply this hack to another rom if i ever decide to switch to another rom. i'm running a very early version of Virtuous, 2.0 to be exact. if i update, i'll loose what i somehow did. 2.0 has been running pretty flawlessly though i gotta say.

ok, i would, but the rom is broken. streaming any kind of audio makes the phone unresponsive within about 10 minutes or so. it works fine for about 5-10 minutes and then the cpu usage gets maxed out and the phone becomes completely unresponsive. if that one issue was fixed i would continue to use the rom, but until then, it's useless to me. in the meantime i would like to get this kind of audio quality onto a more stable rom.

is it possibly part of the framework, and not in the lib directory?
haven't installed that rom, but in other roms i've used where dspmanager is installed, that app greatly improved the sound quality. maybe it's built into the framework with tweaked settings already in place?

yea i already have DSP manager. have been using it since the day that it was discovered to work on the incredible. this is something completely different. on incdoes's desire port the volume is considerably louder and just sounds better. there has got to be someway we can make this work on other roms.
i was just hoping a dev that knew which files controlled what, could lead me in the right direction.
have you tried just PMing ID and asking?
As an avid Rockbox user, I was excited when I discovered this page with precompiled apk's for us. Link I then sadly found out there was no VGA version, only QVGA, HVGA, and WVGA. So I decided to compile it for our beloved VGA RAPH devices. I attached the .apk. Download and install rockboxfixed.apk, download this and extract the "fonts" folder (Inside the zip it is /rockbox-fonts/.rockbox/fonts) to the "rockbox" folder on your sdcard then it should look like the second image and should be more usable. It appears, however, if you extract it to the sdcard you have to manually use the rockbox filebrowser or the theme settings to set it to your selected font. Sorry for the inconvenience.
Outdated: Haven't really gotten to test it so I expect I made an error somewhere, possible in signing the app or whatnot. I'll fix it tomorrow.
P.S. For anyone who doesn't know what Rockbox is: http://www.rockbox.org/wiki/WhyRockbox
Edit: Noticed some issues then realized I compiled it for 640 x 480 landscape not 480 x 640 portrait like it should be. Uploaded a new version. *Crosses fingers*
Edit 2: To fix the tiny font follow these steps:
1. Download and extract this and extract it to your sdcard so you have a folder called "fonts" at the root of your sdcard.
2. Open terminal emulator and type: su
3. Type cd sdcard
4. Type cp -af fonts /data/data/org.rockbox/app_rockbox/rockbox
That should do it. It should now look like the second screenshot when you open rockbox. I'll see if I can incorporate the fonts into the apk but not sure how to do that right now.
Edit 3: Wow, just discovered something. You can just copy the fonts folder the the "rockbox" folder at the root of your sdcard. Makes it significantly easier.
Thanks for doing that. Man, i used to have an iRiver, and used and grabbed daily builds for that thing. For other's, it's a really awesome mediaplayer. Well, more then that. I was playing arcade games and doom and such thanks to Rockbox really. This was amazing for an MP3 player that is.

Ok, tried it last night, and not usable. Something about the screen size might be wrong, as the screen fill's up the top left corner (about 1/16 of the screen), and the menu is so small you literally have to squint to read the text, instead of it filling the whole screen. I don't have a picture, but honestly, if you think about an icon size in "Sense", the whole screen menu is honestly MUCH smaller in size in whole then 1 Sense icon.

That's a native Android device... Not sure why you're posting in the Fuze section. Do they have the same resolution, and there is no RockBox app that is for the Desire...? I'd be surprised.

First off, you should download the WVGA version from here not the one I posted. Second, did you try copying the fonts folder to both locations, within the data folder and the sdcard? Just curious if one might work and not the other. I also changed the first post to be a little more clear. Actually I'm having a little trouble with getting it to recognize the fonts on the sdcard too. I just took the rockbox people's word for it. One way to fix it is to use the rockbox filebrowser and just select the font you want. That should do it.
P.S. I'm no dev either, I just know how to use a Linux command line somewhat.

That's sounds like there was a stable Rockbox build for Android which totally isn't true. It's *unstable* and largely unusable. 3.7 is stable for a lot of other devices, but not even a single android phone.

There's no option to alter them in settings so I found where they are they are located in system/media/ui I tried deleting it through astro but I didn't have sufficient permissions -_- any suggestions? Yes, that option should be possible on a rooted device. I think once your rooted (which you are) that you find the file that contains the sounds and simply add your sound to the list. I think the only way to do so might be through usb. Plug in the phone via usb and drag the sound file onto your phone and it should work. I've never done this before, but I've read about it with past Android devices. Hopefully it will work for you. If it does or does not work please be kind to let me and others know.

I haven't seen any way where you can choose, but the unlock sound is found in /system/media/audio/ui/
idk if mp3's work, but I'm assuming replacing the Lock/Unlock ogg's with another one of the same name would work. It's easy to convert to ogg anyway.
I've always wanted to do this with some old school 8 bit sounds or even metal gear codecs but never got around the time to trying.

An easy way is using a website like media.io
As far as I know, no root explorer apps work on our phone. I could be wrong.
Easiest way is going to clockwork recovery, mounting system and pushing.
I can confirm it works. I just have to lower the volume of my files because they're WAY too loud lol.

I just pushed, it overwrote the original. Don't need to backup if you still have the zip for the rom.
Just make sure when you're in clockwork recovery System is mounted so you can get in there through adb.

Couldn't hurt to ask Cyan. But if he's busy working on CM6 I don't wanna bother lol.
I put the highest bitrate on the converter website. Shouldn't matter anyway, the file is still going to be like 20 kbs unless you use a long ass sound. (Which I don't recommend lol)
Personally I use Acoustica MP3 audio mixer to edit my ringtones. I lowered the volume in there, then converted on the website.
As for where I get my sounds, I google lol. "Videogame title here" + sound effects or sounds.

Hello all!
I claim no fame to this bootup animation. It's a CTOS Bootup from the game WatchDogs. I got the main animation zip from This XDA page in the G3 Forums. All I did was convert it to .qmg format so I can use it on my Note 4. it works perfectly on my phone using DynamicKat ROM.
Extract the zip and place the two files into /system/media and change permissions to rw-r-r- .
EDIT:For those implementing the sounds, it goes into /system/media/audio/ui
As always I recommend changing the original files to *.qmg.bak (* is the like files you are copying over) in case the world explodes, your GF dumps you, or the phone simply doesn't like being touched.
P.S. I shouldn't have to remind you, but just in case... Warranty is voided, do at your own risk, etc etc.

If you go to the link I provided in the OP, can scroll down the list of his available stuff till you hit the CTOS one. That's what I have here, just in .QMG format instead of a bootanimation.zip.
Looks pretty cool. I like the others posted on the op too. Is it difficult converting them? Thanks for this.

It's not that difficult, but depending on the size of the bootupanimation.zip and number of images, it can take a while to convert. I followed this guide and did it in a few minutes. Warning though, if you are doing this yourself the limit to this program is 255 images. The samsung converter seems to auto adjust the bootup size to the images used. Be sure to follow the guide to a 'T' and you'll be fine.
If you want me to I can do a few conversions or help you with some steps. Just let me know.
Thanks for the link. I'll check it out and I'll ask if I got any questions

The original bootanimation.zip had 265 images, I had to delete a few in order to get the program to render the animation. It's limit is 255. That's why the sound is a little off for you. In the ROM I'm using, there was no PowerOn.ogg. had to look at another ROM to see where the bootup sound was located. It's where it should be but I hear no sounds. No big deal for me, glad it works for you though.
I c, my sound is on system-media-sound-ui hopefully that could help
Works great man. Liked this game and the boot animation is really cool
Screen shots????
