Christmas gift to all flashjunkies - Hero, G2 Touch Android Development

These rom's is not any releases but only Christmas presents for all the flashjunkies on XDA.
My little contribution to the hero community
NR1. CM-6.2.0-RC0-Hero, Built this evening, well all know what it is,apps2sd etc.. + all google apps, everything included.
Wipe of all + ext partion
Flash rom
Well you know yourselves what you should do.
Here > http://www.elelinux.se/extra/CM-6.2.0-RC0-Hero-signed.zip
NR2. Gingerbread_2.3.1_r1_alpha1 This is a pure alpha, borrowed some from Lox_Dev particular solution on how to boot up
How to install then
1: Wipe of all in recovery
2: In recovery, adb shell run command
Code:
mount /system && rm -rf /system/* && umount /system
then flash the rom
3: Reboot boot and then when everything is ready
4: Reboot to recovery and flash gapps and reboot again
5: Enjoy

sry i didn't understood what u meant
if u mean that i have to write the adb shell command so i did that and all errors above
and i tried to only flash without any command with adb shell but it's failed too

Hmm, the only problem I have is that WiFi gets stuck on obtaining an IP address.
Other than that, it's actually not too bad

What I mean is wipe of all(factory reset and dalvik cache), then the command don't care about the errors, then flash and reboot should work for all.

Well as I say, pure alpha but the direction is correct in all cases. the graphics are ok,so for those who have the strength, this is a good rom to build on.

thanks for the reply , i get an error saying mount is not recognized as an internal or external comand ??

This gingerbread actually works pretty well and smooth! I also get the "obtaining address", but it scans okay.
Btw, why ADW and not stock launcher?
Keep it up, Ele

Like i said gooood work :
for who want to know whats working and whats not.:
Working
1-calls
2-SMS
3-High Speed
4-Sounds (ringtons and media )
5-u can install any application on it
6-APP2SD Working Perfectly !!!
7-Gallery 3D
Not Working :
1-WIFI
2-USB doesn't detected
3- Something is worng with Battery use in option i thing the top toolbar have some errors or something in colors
4-Camera
5-No arabic the dev. deleted it and this the worst thing in this release (only for Arabian )
6- Sensor doesn't work at all (Rotation ... etc)
i will update the post if there is anything else....Enjoy and thanx for the dev (LOX & elelinux)

i just hope to see kernel .34 for our htc hero gingerbread soon this will fix alot and gave us alot of speed i think

is it necessary to update from your 2.2.1_update1? Thanks!

Do you have plan to fix flash?

Busybox?

Root from Paul didn't come with one, and seeing as we can't get full system access (from what i understand) im curious as to if we can actually get busybox?
The 'busybox on rooted desire' on MoDaCo didn't help at all.
I've installed bb via Titanium, yet Metamorph didn't recognise it anywhere.
Cheers in advance for help
It comes with A2SD - but you can push the busybox binary to /system while the phone is in recovery.
If you pushed bb yourself, use its absolute path (like /data/somewhere/busybox) or put its path in your $PATH to get it going. I personally, without root, put busybox in the free-to-write-to /sqlite* directory (I put * because I don't recall the full name) and it runs fine from there.
do you have a link to apps2sd & does it come with a guide as to how to install it so noobs can understand?
A2SD was taken down "temporarily".

Bare in mind I think it was taken down as (for some) it 'removed root' and also got some phones stuck in a reboot loop. Bad times.

By what I've read, though, Metamorph dies on its arse because of the lack of system rw access.

Aye, I read that, but no Mac, and I can't get to the folder where Titanium saved bb to (assuming that because it's not on the sd card in any data or the titanium folders) the phone system(?)

Install Titanium. Then get your phone into recovery using Paul's Linux ISO. In the Linux console (i.e. where you'll have typed ./step2.sh to get the recovery up), you should be able to do adb shell from there. Then follow my instructions from mount /system onwards.
I didn't follow Pauls guide as I only have access to Windows, so I used the lanarchy guide, which I think might have been taken from The Unlockr.
Maybe fill me in w/ bb according to that?
i am a bit ashamed to ask this but:
....
* boot into recovery
* adb shell from my Mac
* mount /system
....
boot into recovery -> ok
adb shell from mac.. ok? hm, i have macos as a seperate installation and i used it for rooting, so there is a pushfiles folder with recovery-mac.sh.. sudo ./recovery-mac.sh?
How do i mount /system then? Don't know where to navigate to find access to the sdcard . @volumes there are only my harddrive partitions, can't see the sdcard?
No idea, sorry, first time (ok, second time after root) i get in touch with adb, mac, sudo wtf?
Ok, all you need is some kind of environment where adb actually works.
Get your phone into recovery (the green menu screen) using whatever means or method you have.
Then, if you have Windows, you'll need the Android SDK. Ditto on a Mac. Anything with adb so that you can plug your device into your computer, do adb shell, and get a shell window up. Then
mount /system
onwards.
The key is that your phone needs to be in recovery before you do adb shell, otherwise you have no r/w access to /system.
ah! ok, perfect. The android sdk is on my windows computer, the push-files on my mac, that's the problem
thanks for your help!
the recovery is not the problem, but mount /system did nothing because there is no android sdk on my mac.. got it now i think.
mount system -> ok
copy busybok -> ok
when i try to install i get dozens of lines with "no such file or directory".
reboot -> phone not booting, hangs when displaying the HTC Logo omg
flash rom again?
same problem as watercool. Loads of "No such file or directory" messages.
But, I rebooted and it went through as normal, booted the OS fine.
hm, dont want to wipe again, pff..
flashed AhmgskMod mod again without wiping, everything ok now

Sounds like you missed the . off of the end of the
./busybox --install -s .
command.
You need that . if you're following my instructions.
ok, i did it with and without the "."
With the dot there was no response (so probably it installed correctly?).
Anyway it didn't boot afterwards. i will try it again
edit: ok, tried again and my phone stucks @ htc screen
i think busybox is installed but for some reason it doesn't boot (using the ahmgsk mod)
anyway, thanks for your kind help!

Ubuntu/Debian install for Slide

Ok so the ubuntu install now works on slide credit goes to eratosthene he updated all the files to make it work all other credit goes to the dev’s listed on the links provided. FYI this was tested on eugenes latest froyo rom.
1. Go to http://nexusonehacks.net/nexus-one-hacks/how-to-install-ubuntu-on-your-nexus-oneandroid/ download the ubuntu.zip file .
2. Unzip to a location on your pc to a folder named ubuntu.
3. Download the ubuntu-slide-v2 from here.
4. Unzip the ubuntu-slide-v2 to the same folder you used in step 2.
5. Create a ubuntu folder on the root of your sdcard .
6. Connect your Slide to the pc verify debugging enabled and storage disabled.
7. Adb push the files in the ubuntu folder to the /sdcard/ubuntu.
8. Then adb shell.
9. cd /sdcard then sh ubuntu.sh
Note: At this point, the scripts are now located in /data/local/bin and the mount point is /data/local/mnt
10. sh /data/local/bin/bootubuntu
11. you should now see [email protected]:/#
Note : install completed only do the following if you want to access ubuntu from android vnc app.
12. apt-get update
13. apt-get install tightvncserver
14. export USER=root
15. vncserver -geometry 480x320
16. • Run the android-vnc-viewer app and specify localhost port 5901 .
UPDATE: This is not working on CM 6 , I'm not sure why please help if you know .
That would be sooooo coool
Sent From My HTC Espresso Running Froyo Thanks to eugene373
Tried it but the install fails , may be the script or may be rights to edit the files im not that good with linux yet so im not sure .
Ok thanks, any help would be apriciated . If we can get a procedure that works ill write up a step by step for everyone and maybe make a video how to also.
Just guessing but it's probably because we don't have rw access to /system.
Until we get an unlocked bootloader it ain't happenin...
I could be completely way off though
I think you are right , if i rember most the errors where do to access issue's with files in the system folder. If it is the bootloader what would need to be done to " unlock " it ?

An OTA update would unlock it.
So once we get the froyo ota we should be able to follow the same process as the nexus one then ?
i would say "unlikely," i dont see how an ota would unlock the bootloader in any fashion. but i guess he might have been referencing the possibility of someone using the new ota to create an unlocked bootloader. the whole "how could the bootloader be unlocked," question bothers me, i never seem to get a straight answer

Once there is an official OTA devs will be able to extract the keys needed to properly sign files I believe.
I thought the engineering build had an unlocked boot loader on it and once we flashed it that was that ?
Here's an updated zip for you guys. The process is generally the same as on the above-linked nexus one version, I just changed the scripts to move a few files to different places. You'll need to download ubuntu.zip from that post as well. Summary:
unzip ubuntu.zip somewhere
unzip ubuntu-slide.zip in the same place, replace all the files
make a directory called 'ubuntu' on your sdcard
adb push all the files in the zip to that directory
adb shell
cd /sdcard/ubuntu
sh ubuntu.sh
At this point, the scripts are now located in /data/local/bin and the mount point is /data/local/mnt
sh /data/local/bin/bootubuntu
You're now chrooted into the ubuntu install. Have fun.
Thanks going to try it now !!!

What rom are you using? It looks like you don't have the ext3 module built into your kernel. I set my scripts up to use ext3 (more reliable, I really don't care that it eats into the life of my sd card), but many roms only have ext2. You might try uncommenting the first line of bootubuntu, and changing the ext3 to ext2 on line 10.

How'd you get it to stop boot looping? I can flash ROMS, but after I reboot once it'll boot loop at lockscreen. I am on the 5.10 hboot I had to flash that ruu tho then re downgrade and root. Idk how to get my phone to where it'll allow me to reboot it without it going into an endless boot loop.

We can't help you unless you explain how you flash a ROM. What did you wipe? Are you checking MD5. Are you waiting at least 2-3 minutes after first boot before unlocking?

Throw an "su" command in the shell before anything else. It will only work if you're rooted.
I don't really get it how to connect via shell to my watch. Is it the same as installing apk's over adb bluetooth debugging bridge?
Could you provide further instructions how to install the update manually?

Worked (almost) perfect! Except, the "mv" command caused it to error out with "Invalid Arguement:Cross-Device Link" (Due to the implementation of blocked cross device linking with the mv command, bypassable by just cp'ing) Just replaced it with "cp" and the problem was solved.
Though this has already been said, the 4.4w1 insecure boot.img no longer roots 5.0.1. Probably due to incompatibilliuies, I'll work up a new rooted boot.img this weekend. Sadly looks like its going to require flashing the boot.img, not just booting it.
How do you go on a shell on your watch?
You have to have the bootloader unlocked and rooted hooked up via Modded USB cable. Then use the super tool script iin the dev section to install drivers for fastboot. Then back out to that folder make sure you not clicked on anything right click anywhere I think but I right click on the fastboot file while holding the SHIFT key and open in command window the type adb devices to make sure you hooked up right and you have accepted it on your phone Witch you must click accept the adb on your phone to accept the computer access. Once you know your hooked up right type adb shell and boom there you go.

That Dropbox link seems to be down, do you still have that modified TWRP zip?
Found the original post, here's the original link: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/9407677/Moto 360/update.zip
Looks like the link text got shortened when copying/pasting, but it's all good now! Thanks for sharing!

having some trouble.
I've got shell, and then su, i've got a prompt with #
Tried the mv command, and like that other guy, got a cross link error. So i tried cp instead of mv, and now get no such file or directory...
I should mention I'm doing this from adb on Windows. Am I missing something??

Worked (almost) perfect! Except, the "mv" command caused it to error out with "Invalid Arguement:Cross-Device Link" (Due to the implementation of blocked cross device linking with the mv command, bypassable by just cp'ing) Just replaced it with "cp" and the problem was solved.
Though this has already been said, the 4.4w1 insecure boot.img no longer roots 5.0.1. Probably due to incompatibilliuies, I'll work up a new rooted boot.img this weekend. Sadly looks like its going to require flashing the boot.img, not just booting it.

Look forward to flashing the Rooted boot.img.
Thank you for doing it.

[STOCK][6.0.1] Nextbit Robin Flashable Stock ROM [Updated 2016-10-09]

Unmodified factory images extracted from the Robin - Updated for Android 6.0.1 build 00WW_1_450 (released on 07 Oct 2016)
This is flashable zip, and it requires TWRP. Note that while the zip includes the boot.img, it doesn't include the recovery - so you can continue using TWRP if you've flashed it. If you wish to return to 100% stock, flash the included recovery.img file as well.
Download:

Note: If your Robin is currently unencrypted and you want it to remain that way, don't forget to flash the modified boot.img immediately after flashing the ROM, or else your device will become encrypted again.

Any news Khang? Not to push, but I remember you saying your original plan was to get these out by the end of the month.
Hey @Nickamina - Foxconn is working with us, but it's been slow going. We don't have an ETA just yet, but are hoping soon we'll have the factory images available since people have been having trouble with the OTA (if they have TWRP installed).
the update zip is corrupt, i believe it so. thts why ppl keep getting error in update.

i second that. did the update today. went to stock recovery. little robot and everything. got about 1/4 of the way and went to stock recovery menu. wiped data and cache thinking that it had finished the update. now i have a robin that won't boot. i did not wipe system, but the phone will not boot. any thoughts on how to get it back up and running? adb twrp and then flash stock image from this thread? any help would be appreciated.
@lordlittlebrooks yes, enter twrp and push the system image and mentioned above

Hi all,
I've uploaded the factory images for the new build 00WW1_19F (released on 29th March).
Please see the updated OP for full instructions.
So being a flashable zip in TWRP, would it be possible to just sideload? Or push and move to /cache/ since my data is encrypted? If so, just flash and wipe cache and I'll be golden then? Thanks!
Both sideloading and flashing from /cache should be possible, in theory. I'm currently running unencrypted so I can't confirm, so I would be interested to see what your results are.

Alright, well I'll do this when I get home then, seems like a more reliable way than unrooting and going back to stock to update!
The only thing that gets me is not being able to wipe dalvik through recovery though. Is it possible to wipe beforehand on terminal emulator, and then continue on through recovery by any chance?

su
cd /data
rm -rf dalvik-cache
mkdir dalvik-cache
chmod 0771 dalvik-cache
Don't forget to reboot immediately, or else apps may start to crash and weird things will happen.

Would it be possible just to:
cd /data/dalvik-cache
rm -f *
Reboot
Could I do that since I won't have to mess with chmod as well? I mean, it's obviously no big deal but would this work too?

No, because the dalvik-cache contains sub-folders.
You could rm -rf the sub-folders if you wanted to though, but that's just extra commands.

I just tested this out in the terminal - you could cd to the dalvik-cache folder and run "rm -rf *". This will get rid of all the files and subfolders in the dalvik-cache folder, and you don't have to mess with the permissions.

Sorry about the double post, but here's an update so far. Gonna try sideloading next but when I tried to move it to cache adb spat out an error stating: failed to copy 'update.zip' to '/cache//update.zip': No space left on device
So yeah, will try sideloading in a little bit here!
Alright! Went through sideload and so far success! Here's the steps that I did:
1) Get Terminal Emulator
1.a) su
1.b) cd /data/dalvik-cache/
1.c) rm -rf *
1.d) reboot recovery
2) Navigate to sideload feature (Advanced -> ADB Sideload)
3) On PC (got superSU back because I like my root)
Code:
G:\Users\XXXX\Downloads>adb sideload update.zip
Total xfer: 1.00x
G:\Users\XXXX\Downloads>adb sideload BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503.zip
Total xfer: 1.56x
G:\Users\XXXX\Downloads>
Afterwards, wiped cache from recovery, and rebooted! Now just optimizing apps! May install xposed here after all is said and done, but seems to be golden! Thanks Dexter! You may have to teach me how to create some of these update zips!
Sorry, dumb question that everyone hates. I'm currently rooted, unencrypted with TWRP installed: is it possible to just dirty flash over the top of my current ROM and not lose my system data without losing everything and then flash the no-encryption zip?
Thanks a lot.

Yep you can dirty flash. Just make sure you flash the no-encryption mod, followed by supersu immediately after (in that order).
