Get a new phone through warranty and figure its best to go back to stock. Currently I'm running MIUI and am s-off with a amoled dinc.
Anyone have a link to the needed files and possibly a walkthrough?

It's that easy? If so, thank you very much.
Just be careful which one you flash. If you flash a rom that closes the ability to root you are screwed if you ever want to go back. Back a page or two someone posted the original Ruu from sprint which has the shipping EVO rom. Thats what you need to use to go back to stock and don't accept updates if you want to preserve your future root.

For now yes, that may not always be the case. In the event some poor soul searches the forum like a good noob and sees that its not a big deal, flashes a Sprint RUU that breaks root and ends up screwed.
Well I'm returning the phone so future root's isn't a concern but thank you!
Where did you find the Stock ROM? I can't find one. All I can find is the RUU. I'm sorry if these are dumb questions but I am new to this.

the ruu is a rom.
I've got my G2 rooted and running cyanogenmod. My phone needs to be returned for a hardware malfunction. Is it in my best interest to un-root the phone, switch back to s-on, and reinstall the stock tmobile ROM? Has anyone else had this sort of situation arise? Thanks for your replies in advance.

Here's the easy way.
Thanks for the replies. I'll probably end up going back to stock just to be safe.
Ok guys, my new evo will be here tomorrow. I am gonna play with it a few days and then go ahead and root it. Ive been reading around and I think I am gonna start with the new sprint lovers rom that chris put out today. I just need to know the easiest way to root the evo. I am sure it will have the new update when I get it.....so where can I look to root it with the new update? I do want to make sure I dont goof it up.....
I currently have a rooted hero so I hope the evo is just as easy. Thanks!

Depending on your hboot version, you can probably follow these steps here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=829045
Make sure before you start though that this method is the correct one for your phone.
And also, might I suggest trying the Stock Turbo by Ricsim78 and the ReEngineered 3.70 rom if you like stock roms. They are two of my favorite sense roms and they are almost completely stock with a crapload of enhancements to make your phone oh-so-fast. Good luck to you!
Just like Leukay said, that thread will probably be the one for you. Make sure you follow the directions to every LETTER. It will also help if you can add the copy/paste feature on MDOS.
My favorite stock sense rom is the Burnt Droid rom. there are 2 verisons of the download, one is with a custom kernal which I use and one with the latest stock kernal which i believe is #15 or 17 which will definitely work for you.
Good Luck

depends on what he's wanting to do..if he's rooted trying to go stock or keep froyo with root, also, if he's stock GB and wants to go back to froyo, won't happen, hBoot versions different and will pop up with a message saying the update is too new or something like that.
so a little info on his part will help us out by helping him out!

Sorry, just so frustrated getting out of the latest. 2.3.3 / 4.24.651.1 was a new device and came preinstalled and updated. Been trying again today unsuccessfully, I feel so out of place with the only one in here unrooted?? LOL
Anyhows was really looking into on just delparting it(networkingskills) starting to take over my thoughts. Hell with it, delpart it n ,get dos boot disk made from win2000 to recreate Rom from cmd prompts?
Is there such a wipe? Mean just wipe all clean without it going back to recovery to reboot from?

Whats the good news? They dont mention the EVO4G in there, and they wont unlock it either. Its almost to its EOL, they want us to buy new phones so why unlock it?
My 2¢
if you have another sprint phone.....
Call sprint, swap esn to other phone.
Sell yours on craigslist.
Buy another one on craigslist that's rooted (call and swap esn to phone to make sure it works)
Go home, install whatever you want.

Hello all. Sorry if I missed this somewhere but do we have a return to stock method yet? It is not for me personally but I have been asked if there was a method. It seems that we should have one if we have root, for backup purposes and incase someone needs to return a phone to vzw, etc.
I have a back up I pulled of stock if its usefull it its my personal

At this point, you can downgrade fully if you have used AlphaRevX, with one exception: you retain S-OFF. You lose recovery, you go back to stock, but you still retain S-OFF.
I'm playing with it now, so hopefully I'll find any more issues soon.
Thanks guys. It's no big deal. Just wondered if there was something I could post over at droidforums for some people.
If one downgrades can't they just except the ota for stock gb? Won't that put s back on?

That I don't know... I tried checking for the update, but nothing ever happened. The problem though is that I know it hasn't been pushed/rolled out to everyone. So I don't know if they can get OTA.
Asked this in the irc earlier today and was told you can not go back to s-on. Hopefully this will be an option in the future. Wouldn't want any problems with verizon on a warranty or insurance claim.

Insurance I wouldn't think would be an issue.. If it's broke, it's broke. Warranty claim would be an issue, that's for sure.
Some people were talking about Ruus but I'll just tell them to stick with root for now.
