I got a replacement phone from Sprint because my phone screen cracked. I'm trying to return it to stock, but now it won't boot past the fastboot/bootloader screen. I can't even get into recovery - when I choose that, it just sits there on the white startup screen. I used the unrevoked forever radio S-OFF/S-ON tool to get it to S-ON, and that's as far as I got.
Here's what it says at the top:

What base are you trying to get to? Cause if your trying to flash a rom w a older hboot it wont allow that so ull need to flash into a hboot .93 , 2.02 or 2.10, ive had success that way... does it make sense? Lol

Yes, this is what you need to do. Download the RUU for 3.70... Use that one. If you are returning the phone anyway it doesn't matter if it is difficult to root. Is the S back on now though? Or still S-Off?
If S is still on try 3.29 ruu, if that does not work try 3.30...
After RUU there will not be custom recovery anymore so if S is still OFF after that you need to install custom recovery and keep flashing s-on until it says on and then run ruu again.

the phone was rooted . . . i'm trying to UNROOT it. will that work? the only 3.70 i see on search is a rooted version . . . and a zip. would i rename that zip to PC36IMG.zip and put it on the root of the sdcard or something?
i tried renaming the 3.7 RUU zip file to PC36IMG.zip, loaded it through the bootloader, no dice. i also found an EXE version of the 3.7 - it started running and then i got an error:
ERROR[170]:USB CONNECTION ERROR
weird - it makes a usb connecting sound when i plug it in, and from my command prompt it responds to fastboot (but not adb commands) . . .
next steps?

So i've been rooted for almost a month now and I tried to unroot today to take the phone to sprint for technical difficulties and now I'm stuck in bootloop.
I was in 2.1. Loaded a custom rom that had Froyo 2.2, VirusRom something..
This is what I did:
I downloaded:
RUU_Supersonic_1.47.651.1_Radio_2.05.00.06.10_release_C
L195459.exe...
And used HTC Sync to run this. At the end I got a bootloader 140 error saying that it could not update my phone.
Then when it restarted it was bootlooping. I tried to flash the custom ROM back on it but it didn't do anything. Still bootlooping. I do not have a nand backup (unfortunately) and I think I have lost root, for the sheer fact that when I load into recover It does not give me the option to Update when it finds PC36.IMG
This is what My Bootloader screen looks like:

Do you want to reboot device?
Vol up> YES
Vol down> NO
Am I bricked or is there some sort of solution to this..?? Someone please help!!
I would think it's because your phone has Froyo but are running a 2.1 RUU. The RUU won't let you downgrade. Try finding a 2.2 RUU and running that.
If I do find a 2.2 RUU.. How will I run it, I can't access my phone's software. I'm limited to recovery and bootloader..
I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure you can run the RUU when your phone is in the bootloader. Or you could find a stock froyo PC36IMG, put it on the root of your SD and run it from from the bootloader.
I'd bet my middle testicle that you're not bricked.
Here is the stock 2.2 RUU. Try running it, let me know what happens.
Yes thanks so much worked wonders.!! I had to use Fastboot and Plug in my USB for it to work right.
By the way, where do I go from here.. I'm still trying to unroot so i can factory reset (out the box)..
If that worked and you're S-ON (which you said you were in the OP), then you are officially unrooted and back to stock 2.2.
Hey Guys,
I just tried to unroot my HTC Desire cause of warranty.
So I tried a ruu but it doesn't worked.
So i crated a PB99IMG an went to bootloader.
The bootloader made all but suddenly it said:
Main version is older / update failed !
Now I can't do anything than go to recovery
And at bootloader top those is standing:

Didn't tried it yet.
But I tried teh same RUU which you told. and there I'm getting the error that Main version is older !
So I'm actually s-on cause of an otehre ruu which i used before which amde me s-on but didn't flash a rom.
EDIT:
I downloaded your RUU again.
Made a PB99IMG and went to bootloader.
now it ask if I want to run update !
BUT my vol. up butten is broken (the reason why i want warranty)
so i cant confirm, any way to confirm without vol up ?
The error it's giving is impossible since you're flashing a RUU that is MUCH newer than what you appear to have there.. try the 2.3.3 RUU (since a WWE RUU won't cover warranty), that HAS to work.. and even if it gets stuck on the HTC screen or something it doesn't matter since you're getting it fixed anyway.
Okay so I've got a bit of a problem. My EVO won't get past the "HTC Evo 4G" Screen when I turn it on. I figured I would just unroot it and re-root it to fix the problem, so I found a guide that said to flash the UnrEVOked Forever S-On tool and then flash PC36IMG to do that, so I flashed the unrevoked tool, I have S-On now, but the PC36IMG that I have won't flash, it just says "Can't open /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip (bad)" so I'm assuming I have the wrong one. I believe the one i have is
"PC36IMG_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.zip"
which I thought was right because the radio number matches the one that is on my phone, but it won't work. I also tried the RUU with the same version, and that wouldn't work either.
My question is, is there some way I can get S-Off again through recovery and then just try flashing a different ROM to see if that fixes the problem? Or do I just have the wrong RUU/PC36IMG? Or am I SOL?
My Bootloader info is:
SUPERSONIC EVT2-3 SHIP S-ON

It was a ROM issue that prevented your phone from booting, not a root issue.

I'm still rooted, I just have s-on. Is there a way I can get s-off through the bootloader/recovery?

Yes - just flash unrEVOked forever.
P.S. The reason that PC36IMG wouldn't flash is because you don't flash it in recovery - it has to be renamed to PC36IMG.zip and flashed through the bootloader (HBOOT).
I used revolutionary to s-off my wildfire. It was successful.
sorta
i got into hboot, with cm 7.2, then into recovery ( -bernaerts.dyndns.org/201 cant post url ) , revolutionary cwm menu opens up and thats about it.
whatever i choose it just displays revolutionary logo, hboot works normally but normal startup doesnt . The phone just stays on

edit- went into hboot->fastboot->reboot and loaded stock android 2.2.1
can you access the bootloader and did you make a backup. Or you can try flashing a ruu to return your phone back to stock. might not work but you can give it a try.

Sorry for being noob and advertising other sites.
So after following 18 guides on trying to unlock my phone, I think I bricked it *gets stuck at HTC screen*
The current state I am in is, I have Clockwork mod installed and I can still get into the Hboot, but it says my device is an Ace... i'm not sure why. Anyway I was getting frustrated and I think I formatted my /system on my phone. What can I do to get it back or restore my phone?
- I have access to CWM and Hboot
Thank you for your help.
What have you done?

It's more like what haven't I done.
The latest things I did was use Clockwork Mod and I formatted everything including my /system/ folder. I did this because I was fed up and my root attempts had broken my WiFi so I wanted to get back to square 1 and try again.
Can I restore an original ROM and get rid of Clockwork Mod, if all I can really access right now is Hboot and Clockwork mod?
Formatting system does not go back to square one. Did you unlock your bootloader with HTCDev? If so, did you relock? Did you try to S-Off, and if so, with AAHK? AAHK2? Manually? Did you root? Did you flash a recovery other than CWM? Did you flash the right version? Those things could all matter. That's why I'd like to know exactly what you did.
If you can't remember, boot into the bootloader. What does it say?

I tried AAHK initially but it was not working.
I unlocked with HTCDev. I got the CID key and it said it was successful.
I don't think I relocked, not on purpose anyway.
I tried to S-off with this method:
Code:
boot to recovery (yes, the screen may well be blank, but adb should work fine)
adb push gfree /tmp/
adb shell chmod 775 /tmp/gfree
adb shell /tmp/gfree -f >> yeilds – s-off, supercid, sim-unlock
However when I tried this I got an error at the end
Code:
Attempting to power cycle eMMC… Failed.
No such directory
That should have been the last step and I would have been golden. However since it did not work, and because the guy does not support these actions, I found a much simpler application to do S-OFF and root all in one. However now that application says my phone is a device called "ace" and it will not work, which is why I was trying to go backwards.
And I only just saw now that AAHK2 is out........ ugh. I just want to go back to the beginning. I will post why my phone says in recovery mode to provide more info when I get home.
Thanks for the help so far.
Also would anyone know how I could get my hands on the original rom that would come with a Telus HTC DHD?
like what bananagranola said..you must show us what the state of your phone bootloader now..then we can continued help and guide you what the next step you must to do..
just turn on your phone with pressing and hold volume down+power until get inside phone bootloader..then you can tell us what the state is..?
example like this..:

Ok good news! I used clockwork recover to bring my phone back to something... hopefully it was smart. I bought it to this
DHD_WWE_3.12.405.1_STOCK_rooted_by_nitr00
My wifi is still broken, when I go to it it jsut says error. Could this be a bad Radio version?
My current software version is
2.3.5
3.0 htc sense
software is 3.12.405.1_rooted_by_nitr00
What steps should I take now that I am in this position? I am still trying to get my phone in a state that I can use my Rogers sim card. Currently I cannot find any networks with my card. I am still at the above stats, S-ON, etc..
