[Q] SGH-T989 will not boot past samsung black screen after running "AutomatedDebloat"
I rooted my T-Mobile SGH-T989 Android 4.0.4 using "Odin/Clockwork Mod" success! Yeah!
I then ran "AutomatedDebloat.bat" which did nothing as far as removing T-Mobile crap/bloat ware.
Now my phone will not boot past the "flashing" Samsung logo black screen.
I can boot to "CWM-based Recovery v5.0.2.6.
This is my first attempt at this level of phone mod and at this point I do not want to try anything else without some expert assistance.
Thanks in advance.
If you can get into recovery try wiping dalvik and wiping cache then reboot. If this does not work you can : A) factory reset B) put rom on ex card and install new rom or C) use odin to flash new rom. Try one of these options.

thanks for your response and assistance. 1st I ran thru my previous actions after the root again and then flashed with JMTX3. I can now access the phone.
Now for the 2nd problem, I cannot access the internet with this phone. Wifi is Ok but unlike my other Android phones this one refuses to connect to the internet no matter what I do.
I am sure it it a T-imMobile issue but I have had no success with resolving this.

Had the same problem before try a new radio like UVLE1 etc. Or try a new kernel it should connect to wifi after you change one of these or both.

Try setting up your APN manually or change a radio.

I think I have muddied the waters a bit.
This phone has always had access to wifi and does now. For years my previous phones were HTC Android. To access mobile networks it was "Settings" - "Wireless & Networks" - "Mobile Network" - "Connect" and I was connected. The APN settings filled in automatic. What's up with Samsung or am I just being thick?

Problem Solved!
I had created a new APN before the root that did not work.
Created the new APN after the root and SUCCESS!
Thanks for the help!
I own a ZL C6502 with 4.1.2 firmware and root access.
I decided to try out the new 4.2.2 firmware (Xperia ZL_10.3.A.0.423_Indonezia С6502.ftf ) After flashing it i noticed that the 3g isn't working. I flashed back to 4.1.2 firmware (Xperia ZL C6502_10.1.A.1.434_global) but the 3g issue is still present. I can make calls no problem but no internet through the data connection.
Every time i flashed a new firmware after first reboot i get this message : "Factory startup service please wait for power off button"
Some help would be appreciated.

The "Factory startup service please wait for power off button" only happens at the first boot right after a flash which is normal. I hate to ask dumb questions but obviously your APN settings were wiped after the flash, have you reconfigured your APN settings to make data work with your provider?

Google your 'carrier' apn, or easiest way is bring it to the 'carrier' store they will set it up for you.
APN setting is in settings/More.../Mobile networks/Access Point Names - hit menu (the three dots) choose 'New APN'. Enter the result search from google.

Try this easy solution. Turn on your phone, remove the sim card and then put it back and turn on your phone. Maybe the configuration will pop up by itself as it should.
When i had my similar problem i went and manually configured the settings. But it also worked out by itself when i removed the sim card afterwards.
Good luck!
Hey!
So my M919V has LTE disabled..basically doesn't have under mobile network and network mode: "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" .
I can't flash tmobile modem due to AUTH: Fail, and secure check fail.
I flashed stock, original i337M rom and it got me the LTE option: under mobile network and network mode: "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" .
then I flashed back the original M919V stock rom. I have the "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" option, but the rom naturally goes to "GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)" only, even though the LTE is present.
So, when i pick the LTE option and reboot phone, it switches back to GSM/WCDMA . How do I fix this, i want it to always stay at "LTE/GSM/WCDMA (auto connect)".
Please help?
im on stock original windmoile 4.2.2 firmware - M919V .
Do you have this APN?

lol Thank you for that, i figured it !
So, i wrote that i only see "Bell internet" APN only.
so im connected to "4G" my rom doesnt say LTE idk why. but i have to manually connect it, like i said in my original post. but it switches to just GSM/WCDMA one after I reboo my phone.
I want it to stay at LTE/GSM/WCDMA, though.

The issue being why isn't the LTE setting locking in after Boot.
The LTE setting is there which you can manually set. But upon Reboot, you have to manually set it again?
Suggestion would be to ODIN Samsung Stock Firmware. Make sure the Firmware is for your ddevice.
ODINing back to stock will flash the stock ROM, Recovery, Kernel and Modem, and get you back to where you were prior to your issue.
If you're running a custom ROM/Recovery, install those afterwards.
But first see if your issues are resolved.

I'm not sure, although I've read about this happening before. To clarify, it used to auto lock, but now it isn't. Can you remember if you made any changes prior to the issue appearing?
App installs, Kernel changes, etc.
I understand you're on stock now, but were any changes made which caused the issue, which prompted you to flash Stock Firmware, but the issue remained?
I've spent the last 2 days rooting my phone and trying ROMs.. I really don't want to reset my phone after getting this far...
My wifi passwords will not save. I can connect, but if it switch wifi on and off, or reboot, it will be as if I never entered it. I tried deleting the /data/misc/dhcp folder. Wpa_supplicant.conf doesn't show my network as an entry unless I manually connect it. Once it reboot my phone or turn off wifi, the entry is lost. What do I do?
I'm running the latest TWRP, PaulPizz ROM, PFU firmware, and Oscar v9.

Set ro.secure_storage to false in build.prop. This will fix your problem.

This fixed it. I have one question though. Does the unencrypted storage of passwords apply globally or just to WiFi settings? This could be a disaster if it applies to lock screen passwords, fingerprint raw information, etc.
it appears flashing my phone to the a546u1 model has hampered the phone's capability of connecting to a mobile network. selecting a network operator fails every time i have tried it. i've tried restarting my phone, resetting the network settings, powering it off for 30 seconds and re-inserting the sim card, and toggling airplane mode on and off. it simply does not allow selecting a network operator. do i have to restore it to the original a546u model and, if so, would a normal factory reset accomplish this or do i need to use a more complicated method?
Did you perform a factory reset when you flashed it?
The U and U1 firmware should be interchangeable, but just for the sake of stability, I would recommend performing a full data wipe when you switch from one to the other.
