So it's being marketed that the 25GB cloud storage of Skydrive is to compensate for limited WP7 device storage. Ok fine, I'll go with that, BUT...
I'm trying to upload some music to my Skydrive and it just doesn't seem setup for this at all. I can't retain any kind of folder structure within a folder. Also (I don't have my WP7 device yet, on preorder), will my Skydrive simply show up as folder on the device and allow me to stream? Or is there a Skydrive app for doing that?
Perhaps I'm even doing this totally wrong. Is there like a Zune cloud somewhere that I can upload my library to and access and stream that from my WP7?
Thanks!
I may be wrong, but I believe the only way to access the SkyDrive on WP7 is through the browser with one exception - pictures. The SkyDrive Camera Roll is intergrated into the Pictures Hub.

Are you freakin kidding me? What's even the point then vs. some other upload site if it's not totally integrated into the OS!
Cloud then my ass!
After some research, I think I may have found something that relates to what you are asking about...

Cool, thanks for the link! I'll read up and keep my fingers crossed!
The solution to streaming music is ZunePass I believe. I don't think we'll be able to stream stuff through the cloud. Unless we host stuff on our own servers. It sucks cause it's a paid solution.
Yes, the so called "cloud" integration is a fallacy, at the moment at least and the best we have been led to expect is full document sync with Skydrive later this year (or whenever those damn carriers decide we can have it). You are better off using your PC and looking for a streaming application to use with that.
Does anyone have ANY updates on the Skype app for mango?
I haven't heard anything but I'm thinking they're going to release it when they release mango to the GP and begin their media blitz.

Yes, what happened to Skype on Mango? And also, what happened to Google+ on WP7?
People use google +?
I don't think Skype will be in at launch, but maybe something that will be either added via app or next release?
But new Mango phones I believe will get Tango, an already popular cross-platform video calling app.

they said skype APP will be released this fall. So far no announcements have been made
Lol, some of these questions are phrased as though Mango is even released yet. Only a small percentage of users have Mango, and the majority of that percentage are on here... We aren't supposed to have it yet. It was announced, and I suspect when Mango does go live, we'll see more official announcements, especially from launch partners... 4Sq, Twitter, FB, etc.
What I'm most curious about is what they're going to do about the "check-in" feature in WinPhone considering that FB Places is going away. I hope it changes to a 4Sq system.

It is Facebook places. And it's not gonna be replaced by anything else. I don't remember the articles about it completely, but what I actually do recall is, that Facebook is not gonna abandon the places feature. They're just changing something about it. Whatsoever they change, it doesn't have any impact on the check-in functionality of Windows Phone.
They aren't "abandoning" FB Places, but they are replacing it with a new "Nearby" feature. And it sounds like it may not have a "check-in" capability that works the same way that Places does. So I think there may be some fallout for WP7 check-in.

Yeah, I think a few of us kind of derailed the thread a bit , but I agree. Integrated Foursquare support would be very cool. That is one app that I use multiple times every day.

Lots of people use Foursquare daily. I used to use it several times a day, even tho I didn't know anyone else who used it.
I don't think they should waste time on Foursquare integration. Time would be better spend integrating DMs and FB Offline Messages into the Messaging or Email Hub, IMO.
I think they should have put a different pane in the Email Client with an option for us to Auto-Filter emails from integrated Social Networks into that, so that those of us who want faster (consistently faster) notifications could send them to email and get them fast. People Hub still doesn't support PUSH from what I've read/seen and since Hotmail/the email client doesn't support Labels like GMail it's a real ***** to organize stuff... Really, really, annoying.
I thought Mango was suppose to bring full support for IM clients? Yet IM+ and WhatsApp are still awful. WhatsApp is such an incredible app on iOS and Android, using it on WP7 makes me cry literally on what monstrosity they've created. I get a toast notification for a new message, I click it and it takes a good 3-4 seconds for message window to open (why not instantly?) and it takes nearly 10-15 seconds for the new message to appear. It's the exact same behavior in IM+. It's very laggy and very choppy and a far cry from the general smoothness of Mango.
So can someone tell me why this is?
Developers are human beings prone to imperfection. Give it time, allow them to learn the ropes of this new platform and iron out the kinks.
The WhatsApp developers said they wanted the app to be available as soon as possible so they purposely made it barebones. They also promised several updates to make it on par with the other versions.
As for IM+ they haven't updated the app to Mango yet but it's coming.

i'm staying on IM+ cos miyota's messenger suck. but the new versions of IM+ has no more messenger support, and i doubt future updates will have it any time soon

I actually like having dedicated apps for IM, same for twitter. The only app I've stopped using is facebook because the implementation is quite complete in WP7.
I would say it's probably down to UI for me, I find IM+ easier to manage than the built-in messaging for whatever reason (same for twitter) but they really need to upgrade it to Mango.
Everything has gone downhill in the application scene after the mango... Didn't they released the so called APIs? So where are the new applications which were not possible to make before? Since mango all we saw were updates for 'fast app switching' which btw is not fst at all... And than we saw saw a dozen applications to pin a settings tile on front page... And than it just died. No new apps, no new games, everything in MP just died and came to a stall.
So much so far for the hyped API release..

Agreed. Not sure what more MS could do to entice developers. They will even write your code for you ffs. We need developers to show some initiative, or will we have to wait for Windows 8 & WP8 integration to get it?

How much faster could the app switching be lol
I say give it some time. I am expecting we'll soon see apps like the announced Skype, Tango, Spotify apps etc. Mango hasn't even reached 100% roll out yet. Perhaps too they're waiting till the Gen 2 phones launch in the US.
Just within the last few days apps like LastFM, iHeartRadio, Tunein Radioa and Vevo got background audio streaming, pinnable stations and yes fast app switching So I think the pace is fine in terms of current apps getting updated. New apps will come soon.
This is going off-topic now, but I can probably guess at why developers have been slow with updating their apps for Mango.
When Microsoft released the Mango tools, they told us (the developers) that once we updated our apps to Mango, then we wouldn't be able to update our NoDo apps. They changed that, but quite close to Mango release so there wasn't all that much time to get on and update.
It also takes time for developers to actually implement the new features and APIs into their programs.
Does the built-in live messenger functionalityi n the WP7 messaging app support "see when they are typing" yet? You know, the "..." visual that tells you the other person is typing a message? That's kind of the whole point of messaging over data rather than texting (like BBM and iMessage).

This is why the heck...firstly, I'm using my outlook account which tied to Australia region for my main account. While,my main account which is the one with all my messenger buddy is tied to my US. Therefore, I can't use the outlook account for messenger. And I even tried the following steps:
1)my main account is created few years ago, and it is tied to US. However, until now I still unable to change the live ID or merge with my current Australia account.
2)M$ don't support messenger for secondary windows live account.
3)tried to move all my active messenger buddy to outlook account, but M$ don't allow me to use live messenger on this outlook account. It keep showing error and need me the fix the password.
4)not willing to create a new live messenger account as I have spent around 30dollars on apps.

Let LinkedIn know we desire a fully functional application like found on iOS. The integration of contact info is nice, but if you need to do things like view somebody's profile ect using the mobile site just aint right.
Similar to how we have a facebook app for additional user requirements beyond the integrated service, we need for LinkedIn.

ah, ok. will email them. won't 'hurt' to get an official app from LinkedIn
Its mostly just for building name recognition. LinkedIn is a pretty big deal, especially to those in business. People not familiar with a platform don't know about 3rd party apps, they know if there is a "LinkedIn" app or not.
The more official apps we have the better for the platform as a whole.
It's a good idea, but I wonder if it will end up like Foursquare. Yes, we have an official app (and I use it), but it is surprising how many people still prefer 4th and Mayor. But I guess having that choice is a good thing.
Right now IN+ fills my LinkedIn needs pretty well.
Official applications are going to be more likely to be downloaded, but I am not sure that LinkedIn has quite the pull as Facebook, Netflix, Angry Birds or Foursquare at this point. It also depends on who is buying the phone. First time users will make assumptions about applications and have less preconceived notions about which apps need to be available to purchase the phone.
I believe if we can get some really hot looking phones that the market share will go up and the apps will take care of themselves. LinkedIn tends to fall into that category of developer. Look at how long it took them to get an official app on the Droid (and as RoboDad suggests, DroidIn kicks the crap out of the official LinkedIn app).
Disclaimer, I am the creator of Link 2iN
even facebook cant be bothered to make an app for WP7. the unofficial one available was last updated in july and its still broken. i doubt linkedIn will bother at this point in time

Its a networking community for business (worlds largest professional network). Basically Facebook for Business.
You use it to make professional networking connections. This can be used for getting clients, getting jobs, maintaining your business ect.
I can't tell you how often I've obtained new client relationships, or gotten work from people seeing my connections to somebody else through LinkedIn and inquiring into my services. Many companies are using LinkedIn to search for potential employees as well.

Not bad. But I consider that with my web-based notebooks I can sync to all of my phones, even iOS. I use Evernote and it does the same thing as well as providing access on my other phones.

Enjoy, mate. I use Evernote, which gives me access on all of my phones, not just my WP7. And Evernote updates faster.
Evernote syncs, but the app sucks compared to onenote.

While Evernote isn't the best web-based notebook, it's at least easier to figure out than One Note. It took me a bit to know how to make a new note and all of the things relating to it. And One Note isn't as intuitive as the web-based variety. Catch Notes is the best web-based notebook. But there isn't a WP7 version yet, so I went with Evernote until Catch Note makes a WP7 version.
To be honest, I don't like it how OneNote HAS to sync to the cloud (unless I'm doing something wrong). Sometimes I seriously have no reception - what then? For this reason, I actually use Word for note-taking.
Evernote is better.foe organizing.notes anyways. OneNote had this forever in the iOS version..
Sent from my SGH-T959 using Tapatalk
I will give you the ONE very good reason why I use OneNote and not Evernote.
Because OneNote is built in- it's made by the same people who make the OS, meaning I'm guaranteed compatibility whatever Windows device I have, and there is much more chance of the online services being reliable going forward.
I HATE third party software on mobile devices. It is the absolute bain of my life, it's very rarely done well and 90% of it is utter crap. This is why I chose Windows Phone.
I can see why you might want something that syncs to 5 different OS's, but in reality 99% of the population are very unlikely to need, care about, or have, three mobile devices, so for them OneNote is an excellent option (and the desktop software is immensely powerful, too)
That's fine many people prefer that convenience. However I'd you need superior note taking and organization tagging etc Evernote is far ahead of one note. One note still isn't really optimized for mobile yet, but it will get there.
