Hi folks,
I wonder why the picture quality regarding nightshots, illumination,... is really poor on AOSP Roms (Oxygen 2.0 for example). Last evening I took a shot with an extremly blueish tint.
The DHD camera app performs much better even in lower light situations and I get really nice pictures out of it.
Why is that? Is the HTC camera app just a better peace of software? Or is there a camera app for AOSP Roms I haven't found yet?
Thanks in advance
+1 Had the same experience... this is what is keeping me stick with sense Roms...

hey really stupid question, but i noticed my friend's infuse camera takes super awesome gorgeous photos day and night, with almost no noise and comes out SUPER crisp. and i was wondering, is it possible to replace the actual rear camera of the SII with an infuse camera? would that in anyway improve the picture quality? or is the problem with how the SII takes ****ty ass night pictures a software thing? could someone shed some light on this please? i mean if it's simply as easy as using a different camera app, which would you recommend? i'm on ics, and i tried installing to use the miui apk, but its not working, so i guess that one's outta the equation. i know there's a lot of experienced people prowling these threads, so please shed some light and don't flame me. thank you guys and girls!
Has anyone found a camera app that better utilizes the 13mp camera? It can take some pretty sharp shots but I'd love to find something a little better built.

People say Camera zoom fx is nice. Personally I want the 4.2 camera app ( not the pre release app, the one with the update). If anyone has an apk for it, please post it.

I've used zoomfx the difference between it and the stock camera app are stark. Check the topic on pictures with the 13 MP camera I started a few days back. I posted comparison shots of results between the two apps. It's not even close zoomfx is much better in low light settings, haven't played much with zoomfx with daytime shots, but in good lighting so far about the same I think, but again haven't really played with it much yet.

Thanks guys, I just tried it out and noticed a huge difference in the low light pictures. So much more detail was captured by zoomfx.
Hi,
I have/had many Smartphones apart from the P930. Somehow the picture quality of the P930 is the worst. Both picture and video capturing. Is this normal or some problem with my P930?
Cheers,
sb
As i know the camera module was produced by sony and it has good quality. Quality depends from which rom are you using. My point of view is that camera on stock rom (2,3; 4.0; and miui v4) is much better than on custom (i mean CM and Other)
the pictures from the rom in my sig are great, it's based off stock ics but custom kernel etc
warning you need to be unbricked and rooted etc, which isn't easy if you are new at moding phones
I tested all ROMs, also Mattman's and the Stock ROMs. The picture quality is quite bad in my opinion. Also the autofocus is not very good. Do you think this is a bug in my smartphone?
Mine is actually quite nice. In fact, I've submitted a few pictures to a couple contests and placed.

How is your autofocus?
Can you post the samples?
I've got 'prosumer' level photography equipment, so my opinions are jaded. That said, when I first got my Nitro I HATED the camera! It was extremely slow to take a picture and the amount of time it took between taking 1 picture until it could take another seemed like FOREVER. Blur, subpar color rendition...So yeah, I wasn't happy with the camera.
But since putting CM10.1 on, the camera software is LEAPS and BOUNDS better. Shooting speed is MUCH faster, the time between shots is MUCH shorter. The color rendition is much better, the auto-focus works better (click on area to focus)...Even in lower light conditions I get decent shots now. I can easily and wholeheartedly recommend using the CM10.1 camera vs. stock (Well, Stock OS when it first came out, ICS Stock might be worlds better too).
...All of this is at 1.0x zoom. Start using the digital zoom and all bets are off. Grain and blur run rampant the more you zoom.
I am an average photographer, with some variety of cameras at hand.
I got my OneX the last tuesday, because I read so much about its camera, and of course in my budget. It came with 4.1.2 and Sense 4+. The camera at that time really sucked. There was pretty much digital noise on even the bright photos, and not to mention grain. I fiddled with the settings, but to no avail. The noise and grain was still there.
Being a ROM-aholic, I went for ARHD 31.3 to start with. The same result. And I'm now beginning to think that cnet and all are pretty rosy in reviews. I have to do pretty heavy editing to photos from OneX, and have to forgo a lot of detail. My brother's got HTC amaze, and its really amaing at photos. tell me if I'm missing out something, or does the OneX really suck.
BTW, I haven't tried other AOSP ROMs and might, if I get the slightest hint that they have better camera results.
sense roms are having the best camera quality...and try a mod pack from lyapota or lesscro and there is a fix for the cam...but there is also a standalone mod for cam for better results..

Sense ROMs tend to have greater saturation, and hence greater digital noise in them. AOSP ROMs do lack better results, but digital noise is absent in them. Where in Sense I got to do huger editing to remove noise and preserve details, in AOSP ROMs, I get to edit the colour curves for proper colours and temperature. Wish that the digital noise would have some solution. I am loving my OneX, after Superchraging it, and ARHD ROM, its like a wild crazy, oversensitive beast, ready to lash out on even the slightest touch.
Everyone says due to the broken camera HAL, photos taken by the 5T running a custom ROM is bad. Since I'm upgrading from the OnePlus One, is the camera quality worse than the One? Or similar? I know there is the Google Camera mod but zooming in causes white dots in photos so let's leave that out of this thread.
I don't know about the OP One, however I will say coming from the Nexus 5X, I think the 5T camera was a bit over hyped. Its by no means bad, either though. On Lineage, I can say Snap has improved quite a bit. The pictures it takes I think are fine. I wouldn't say they are bad at all.
With time I think the google camera problems will be sorted out. They have already sorted out quite a few issues with it.
In good light it's near on perfect , bad lighting you get the van Gogh effect
Gcam with HDR enhanced is way better than OOS cam in low light
