I want to upgrade to the new CM 6.1 and want to keep all my settings, apps, etc. I tried using Titanium Backup and changing from CM 6 to Fresh EVO when I was in Chicago last weekend with no luck, I could boot and restore everything fine but then after a restart I it wouldnt load right... Any help on making this seamless? Thanks.
If its going from CM6 to Cm6.1 you should be able to flash right over your current rom without a full wipe. Try making a nand backup first of course.
What he said just update it wiping cache and dalvik and your good to go just remember to nandroid always

I had virtuous 1.0.1 running with all my apps etc. I did a backup via Clockwork Mod and then flashed CM7 RC4. Now when I restore using that backup none of my apps show up, and not even the market app so I can't redownload anything.
Help?
Hello again guys...
I recently installed CM7 on my Defy, then I installed Titanium Backup and changed some options, but now, I can't install anything.
When I try to install any app, the installer says: "aplication not installed".
I think that I froze any app that can't be froze, but I uninstalled Titanium Backup, to try to install it again, but now I can't install it too.
Then I thought in reinstall CM7, but I can't install custom recovery!!!
Now what should I do?
Can I install a app by terminal?
wipe then flash again then do the whole proces of installing cm7
I did the whole process again, and now it's working!
Thanks...
Hello I have DHD and installed Cyanogen 7.1. However, I am experiencing gps problems. My questions
can I install version 7.0.3 if I have 7.1 now?
How can I backup apps and contacts so when I install 7.0.3 I will not have to install all over again
Take a backup with Titanium Backup and it will work.
Or you could try CM 7.2.0.
It's in the Release Candidate state and works great.
See the official thread here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=917271
Get one of the releases in the last threads or get one of Andy's builds from here:

A full wipe is recommended and if you worry about your apps, copy the apps folder with an app like Root Browser.
Try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450962
Obtain Titanium backup.
Run batch and backup all your apps + data if you like
Download the CM version you want and appropriate Gapps zip
Go into recovery
Wipe > Flash CM > Gapps > Custom Kernal (if you want)
Reboot
This is my first ever post on this awesome website. I have an Xperia play which i just modded(after Sony cancelled ICS).
I installed Cyanogen Mod 7.2 three days ago. After that I backed it up using the clockwork mod backup.
Then I installed ICS beta and later the cyanogen mod 9. I couldn't get the camera to work and videos weren't streaming from websites(through the mobile player). So I decided to restore the CM7 backup I had made earlier. I backed up my current rom, cleared the cache and did factory reset(all in recovery) and then restored the CM7 mod. It was successfully restored but then my phone got stuck in the boot loop where I just see the starting screen of CM7 with the arrow revolving around the android. I had to take out the battery and then restore the CM9 again to get my phone to boot.
Where did I go wrong? Am I supposed to install CM7 again from zip file and then restore? Or is my backup corrupted?

did you flash a GB kernel? Restoring a nandroid doesn't restore the kernel.

Thank you for the swift reply. I didn't. I am really new at this so you'll have to pardon my ignorance. Will i have to flash the GB kernel with fastboot? Where can I get this kernel and is there a particular version I have to use? Thanks again.
