Last night I finally ended up at this gay club at 4am and while running into some random friends a guy nearby was texting on his phone. I noticed the super amoled over saturated screen right away and in the dark club the windows logo! He hit home and yep he had the Samsung focus! I pulled my HD7 out and we hit it off right there. And because well we both know the phone we switched phones and exchanged #s easily. Haha my first NYC sighting! Oh and I have a date WP7 is more popular than you think with the young crowd!
I've already converted 2 coworkers (one had iphone 4, one had iphone 3gs).
Other than that, I hadn't seen any yet, but I work in a hospital where iphone and blackberry are king and queen, with android playing the role of court jester...
when isn't android the court jester of mobile smartphone????
This has to be the best way to start a story made me chuckle this morning
The only windows phone 7 i have ever seen is mine.
But hey.. I live in denmark where there is no access to marketplace and with no danish dictionary and no danish keyboard (we have some special letters)
Here Iphone is king and android is queen.
And i know i would definitely have something to talk about if I mead someone with wp7 (but i guess its only a matter of time)

it's cheaper than the iPhone.
I haven't seen any whatsoever and the last time I was in the atmosphere store one of the guys there sounded like he spent too much time in the XDA android forum. Was a good laugh, at least...

At medical university i mostly see iphones, probably about 10-20% blackberries.
but hopefully i soon can convince some to get wp7, all this iphone-stuff sucks.
i think i will get my mozart on thursday, but ill have to wait for my sim to arrive which will take like 2-3 weeks from now (don't have any data options atm)
Yeah, I have this friend who bought a new iPhone 4.
The day I showed him my HD7 he was like "You should've told me about this phone before I bought my iPhone..."
I was at Costa Vitas and saw a lady surfing the web on a phone with a similar form factor as mine. I quickly peaked over her shoulder to spot the iconic windows logo.
Anyway, I'm sure that will be my last WP7 sighting for another couple months.
Thursday night a girl sitting next to me at a poker table in a casino had the lg windows phone; she was rocking the pink color scheme. Oh and the difference in quality between the lg screen and the focus screen is stunning...
The very day wp7 was launched in UK, I saw a lady using a HTC phone sitting next to me on th way back from pub. Haven't seen another wp7 device in the wild since however.
New Years night at a club I saw a guy with a samsung focus at the bar and we immeidately started drinking
Since then I have 2 other friends with the HD7 and I've seen a few others around campus as well.
Its more popular than you think!
2 of my colleagues (out of a staff of 32 people) have Windows Phones. They're Samsung Focus'.
I also saw a lady at Dunkin' Donuts with an HD7.
well, I'm the only one in belgium with WP7 (and it's not even on an official device, HD2 )

How's that autocorrect on the nexus one keyboard working for ya bub?
I didn't see anyone with wp7 device, but on 4pda.ru forum exists entire section about windows phone 7, where about 100 users have wp7.
I am from Iraq and I have Samsung focus.
I think I am the only one in Iraq that own wp7 .
I saw a guy at the Seattle airport with a Focus a few weeks ago. He's the only other person I've seen so far with a WP7, but it is Seattle after all, so I'm guessing there are at least a few more of us around.
Keep in mind that when android first came out NOBODY was really using it. Give it a few months
Since getting my Focus day one, my girlfriend, best friend, best friend's mom, another friend and his mom, and yet another friend all have gotten Windows Phones. As awesome as that is, I'd love to see one 'in the wild.'

I don't use autocomplete, nor is it a nexus.
I'm still waiting to get mine but, once I do, I bet they sell maybe 200 more of them...I'm a tech buff and everyone I know will ask me what to buy, once I show they the performance and apps of WP7, it won't be much of a choice for them.
Just wish Verizon wireless would annouce one already !!!
i've seen a samsung omnia 7 on a the train, a mozart whilst walking pass someone, and an Optimus 7Q in action. A recent article from Telstra said that Windows Phones made up approximately 7 to 8 percent of their phone sales for the holiday period, which is pretty good. They're around, just give it time, and yes as much as i hate to say it, they need more form factors in stores, just to be more visible amoungst all the android same sames.
i believed i was probably the only one in chile with a samsung focus, but i saw another user from xda with a chilean flag
I'v seen 3 wp7 devices, 2 at school (one for a split second before it disappeared. I was SURE that I saw the iconic tiles & a windows key), a guy was rocking his HTC surround, and I actually saw a samsung focus (like mine) on a train...
My brother has shown interest in wp7, but one thing that would keep him from getting one anytime soon would be this website. This is where he streams most of his electronic music from and his iPhone can stream it fine, but none of the browsers for wp7 can as far as I've been able to figure out.
Anybody use this site? There any way to get this working on wp7? Android & iPhone have di.fm apps, but they aren't going to be doing wp7 for a bit yet it looks like (BB one currently in public beta).
ask the makers of the app if they have any plans for windows phone.
Their site states they will be looking into it after the BB app is completed. I was wondering if there is any way to stream that site on wp7 as of now.
If not, he'll just have to wait and get a phone later, which I suggested anyway.
From their site:
Nokia, WebOS, Win7, etc.
"Will re-evaluate after Blackberry is completed."
Could take a year or more from that quote.
"Tunein Radio" my friend on the marketplace and search exactly [DI] and all the playlists come up, Get yo brother on it when he gets one or show him.
But yeah, No official app yet so i still have to use laptop for the 256k feeds atm , but hell... works perfectly out and about and sounds great off the phone
*but saying that just did a test again to see how much different they really sound, and the phone does seem to give it an ample boost in the right areas. meh, still works, but cross fingers for the real app*

Anyone done it?
Nothing wrong with either Android or my Cappy, I just get bored with technology every few months and want something new
The Focus looks like the best Windows Phone offering on ATT. However the development section looks like it sucks.
I want to at least be able to
1) Get rid of the ATT stuff
2) WiFi tether (So I can use a WiFi Nook/iPad/Laptop/etc).
Are either possible?
Any comments on the switch?
yes, from desire to mozart. tehtering is not possible
Me!!! And i love it!
The Samsung Focus is the best performance/screen on AT&T, it just depends if you want a solid bar form, or slider ect. The screen alone makes it better than the other two imo, but it does only have 8GB of storage (rest are 16GB) if that is a factor for you. Personally I love my Focus.
You can remove anything you want including the AT&T apps. Just hold on the app, and uninstall.
Tethering through a dialup / usb cable is possible, but a pain. WiFi tethering is not possible (yet).
I moved from Android, and while this is a new OS with a lot of features missing that Android had, I would never go back. The UI is by far the best out there, and its a much more pleasing overall experience.
Tethering might be a big one. It means I can get data (I'm on an old unlimited plan) via my phone- on my laptop, or tablet... I don't have to have another $25/mo plan to get data on a tablet or something. I just Wifi tether that sucker.
USB cable would work on Windows but... On an Android tablet, let's say... Android wouldn't be able to tether with it on USB, I'm going to guess. (that's even if it's got a USB port)
The swap from android to WP7 was the best cellphone change I ever made...
I still carry my Nexus One around in my laptop bag just in case I need to use the tethering. Its the only reason I still have it.
If I'm out and about somewhere where no wifi is available and need to get something out to a client ect, I just swap the sim card.
You might want to look at the H7S on AT&T, if you dont mind AT&T slowness on updates. Its a 4.3 screen with a SLCD. I think it will be the best wp7 screen, better then the Samsung screens.

Not for WP7 because blacks suck on SLCD. Not to mention if it shares any qualities with the HD7 then the battery life is going to be dismal.

you can tether on the focus though and I don't think there is a mozart stateside...

*blacks* and they're nowhere near the blacks on a SAMOLED device. Considering how much of WP7 is black it's nowhere near as good... at least for this OS.
Just traded in the fascinate for the focus. Was going to hold off to see the hd7s first but after loking at the 4.3 droid with slcd i decided I couldn't leave amoled. I am so glad i switched. Only things I'missing is Google voice and maps. I would like tethoring but never really used it. I'm glad I now have a phone that I don't have to load custom roms every other day to make myself happy with it.
I will never go back to Android.

I had Desire, Desire Z and they are crap compared to Omnia7. WP7 rocks!!! I love the UI, games. No lags, no problems.

Amen to ALL OF THAT!
Had three different Android phones, an iPhone, and now I'm using an LG Optimus 7. Best phone I've had, and the overall experience is way more pleasing than any Android device -- no about about it!
After seeing the video of MS holding a funeral procession for the iPhone late last year, I took a leap of faith and got the HD7. Then realized the funeral was actually for WP7 updates and Steve Ballmer is still the CEO of MS. So now I'm back on android and just got a Nexus S. The HD7 is safely back in it's coffin err I mean original box.
For the person that said they did vice versa and are now "relieved", why?
My main worries:
1) Google integration. Anyway my contacts can stay in sync with my Google account?
2) App support. Facebook, Netflix, Google- nobody else supports this it seems the only entity that does is Microsoft. ?? Microsoft wrote the Facebook app and apparently their Netflix app doesn't even stream videos (it would've been a plus over Android)
That said it does everything else... Equally well I think (Email, messaging, browsing, etc). The Office integration would be a huge plus for me.
All in all, what are the Pros/Cons for this over Android? Not only Android but the Captivate?
How's battery life (real-world) actually compare?

I looked it up and it appears they updated it in March so not sure what the complaint is? Every few months is still better than what the Android folks are doing.
In fact I'd say the official Microsoft updates are about the same frequency as the unofficial upgrades in the Android world.

Wait... who told you WP7 Netflix doesnt stream? I watch movies on it all day at work... Battery life is better than android but no smartphone has great battery life. The UI isn't laggy like android, it's actually got good original games, zune pass is freakin amazing, the keyboard is better, just everything is a better quality. The guy who said he did the reverse and was glad has been trolling the WP7 forums for months trying to turn people away.
Long time Android fan here, but I went the Microsoft route a few months back as the Surface was the best tablet
for me at the time. It was a hard decision to make as I dislike Microsoft due to their patent trolling nonsence,
and it pained me to give them my money. But the Surface is a great piece of kit, has superb build quality, a great
keyboard and kickstand, and has Office built in to it. Oh, and the best touch browser going (Internet Explorer).
So now, a few months later, and Samsung releasae a 10" Amoled tablet. Mmmmm. A game changer.
My main question is this - Office documents. Does the UK version come with the free Hancom Office package? I'll be
wanting to load the Skydrive app on the Tab, download my Word and Excel files, edit them in Hancom, then upload
back to Skydrive. Has anyone tried this scernario? I'd assume there would'nt be a problem doing this, but would
like to hear from anyone with some experience of this.

You can also sideload Microsoft Office for Android. The apk I used didnt seem necessarily tablet-optimized but it works nonetheless.

Thanks for the info, all sounds good, I'll get one of these tabs. Also forgot about MS Office entering the android arena, so all bases will be covered anyway.
