i noticed today after my alarm failed to go off and there for making my wife late for work that the time is wrong on my evo.the weather/clock widget displays the correct time but the clock in the top right corner is 11-12 hrs off! if i click the clock and goto current city it shows im in Singapore! im pretty sure im sitting in charlotte, NC. i have turned the gps off and back on and did the same for the automatic switch under date & time. if i reboot the phone it temporarily fixes it but it switches back to wrong city. the widget shows the correct city. any ideas?
Are you rooted?

well i attempted to root using unrevoked but it failed as im using a brand new phone with a unsupported hboot
Had the same problem, turned off the airave.after the time change it stopped working.if not turn off auto update time on phone.
it's could be a problem with your local cell tower, happened to me when I had my Hero, my phone though it was in Seoul, South Korea, when it really was in San Juan. Puerto Rico... problem solved itself a couple of days later

Exact same issue. Just got my Evo yesterday and attempted to root... and no dice. Started acting strange after that. It insists that I'm in Kaisertal.
I assure you, I am most certainly not in Kaisertal.
i did a factory reset shortly after creating this thread yesterday and all seemed great until this morning. it was telling me i was in some country i have never heard of again and almost making me late for work. i turned the auto update off and the location seems correct now. Kinda stupid i have to do this in order for the correct COUNTRY to be selected.
Well, first, I would stop using your Evo as you and your wife's alarm clock if it's making you both late for work! Lol that's no good!
Next, how old is it? Are you within the exchange period?

I had the same issue the day after my EVO upgraded with the OTA update. Happened 2-3x that day.
It "appeared" to fix itself as (knock on wood) it has not happened since.

Could having "Allow Mock Locations" checked be causing it?

nope, just checked and it wasnt checked
I knew I shouldn't have said anything. It happened again today. It jumped to 6 hours ahead of what it really was, but it did display the correct city that I was in.
And, for the first time, it rebooted on it's own today too.
WTH is going on with my EVO since the update?

i ended up just turning off autosync time and setting it manually. seems to work fine now, im hesitant to turn it back on though, i got a feeling it will do the same thing as before
mine has been doing this for two days... I spoke with Sprint and they have no answers except to uncheck automatic setting..
Mine now immediately tells me I am on Eastern European Time vice Eastern Standard Time...
This sucks...
Call up Sprint and Google. The issue is with the cellular tower ID. Also, turn on WiFi, GPS, and Google Maps for a while each day to let it get the location.
Happened again to me today, so I turned off the option to sync it with the network and just manually set it.
It is a cell tower issue... Nothing is wrong with your phones. Relax... Sprint will get it fixed soon enough... In the meantime.... Use a real alarm clock.
I have the same problem. Location was set to Minsk in the time zone of Eastern Europe. I am actually located in Southern NJ near Philadelphia. Turning off auto sync fixes the time but the location stays with regard to the sense weather app for a while. Why would multiple sprint towers in different areas all start reporting that they are in Eastern Europe? Never had the problem before the latest ota...

Hey guys, done some searching around, and apparently I'm not the only person with this problem, however I can't find a fix. I have to disable 3G to get "my location" and weather for my location to update properly. Manually added cities will update perfectly with 3G turned on. It's not a ROM or Radio specific issue, as I have flashed three different ones. I am currently running the final e2 6.5 ROM with the stock Radio. Does anyone have any knowledge on how to get this running properly? Thanks.
if you haven't already done so enable the "Enable my location" option and then try: menu> settings> check the "Download date automatically"box> select how often you want weather to update.
In addition to what marduk79 said, I have found that it only works reliably when you have a very good 3G signal. Wifi doesn't seem to matter. Probably GPS related. And even then it seems to only auto-update when it feels like it. However, it is cool that it will change location and give you the actual local weather depending on where you are. Just wish the updates were more consistent.

I appreciate the advice guys. However, the problem is still consistent. Example: I can be sitting on my couch, with 3G enabled, and weather for "my location" will not update. Then, I can turn around, disable 3G, and the weather update goes through. It happens every time I am in any 3G area. Its driving me crazy!
Don't know how your internet-settings are, but I've resolved this problem by removing portalmmm in internetsettings (proxy).

Portalmmm is just for Kpn in the Netherlands. So it will not work for him.
But you can always check you're apn settings to see if they are still correct.
Thanks for all the help, none of it works. There never was an official sense 2.5 ROM released for the AT&T branded tilt 2. I've just reverted back to the stock ROM for now. Appreciate the help though, guys

This worked for me, thx!
i've got Hi-internet (part of KPN), so autoconfiguration of my internetsettings set it to connect to portalmmm.nl as APN, which works for most things, but not for automatic weather updates..
@dressanderc: I'd check if there's any other APN that you can use..
Actually I have been having the same issue for about a week now. Seems that when I try to update my weather screen, it places me about 200 miles east. My 3G appears to working fine, as I am able to stream my Orb music to the phone.
When I switched to Google Maps, the GPS was also locating me 200 miles away. I changed the GPS settings from Windows managed, then it located me correctly in Google Maps, but no luck with the HTC location service, still had me 200 miles away.
And I am using the stock Verizon ROM, with Sense 2.1.

It could be a radio problem. What radio are you using?

I have the same issue with my wife's Tilt 2, it isn't rom specific but it is frustrating as hell. It will update once in a while, it seems to update when it gets to the final day in the 4 day window that is displayed. I did get it to update once yesterday but immediately after that I got the connection error again. I may try a different radio to see if that helps.
Having the same issue. I just added my local city, but I really liked the auto updaing feature. I am using Energy ROM now. I see what OP meant, I turned off 3G and it works, but turning on 3G won't locate me
Is the ability to enable "enable my location" only available with other than the AT&T Tilt2 ROM? I ask because I don't even have the "My Location" option in World Clock.
This is because the 3G in your are is most likely a new development, perhaps even in testing stages. When they first brought 3G to Terre Haute, IN (where i am) mine did the same thing. just give it a few weeks and it will work.
I live in an area where 3G has been in place ever since it was first deployed. With my last phone (Fuze) the cooked ROM included the feature. I just got my Tilt 2 and I don't think the stock ROM/radio supports the feature. Anybody have any expertise with this?
I have a launch EVO. As of a week ago after 4G was turned on, when I'm home, the HTC weather widget is telling me i'm in a city 2 hours away from my location.
If I start up maps it'll place me somewhere else before adjusting to my current location. I haven't been out of town since I had this phone so I don't know what's going on. Is it something wrong with my GPS or with Sprint's tower?
Note: When I'm at work everything is fine

The initial location info is based on cell towers and can sometimes be off. 2 hours away is really bad though. are you on airave?
I noticed that when I was in JFK airport yesterday, the location for weather listed "United States" instead of Queens or something like that. I tried refreshing 3 times but it kept listing USA as my location. I thought that was funny.

Nope, i'm using a tower which is located a few miles away from my place. I have 5 bars and 3g works fine. The gps just went wonky after 4g started. It was happening before i rooted so its not a software issue.

I think I saw something like this a few days ago. Unfortunately the resolution was that when both GPS and 4G are on, it can make it go a little crazy due to the battery drain/antenna or some thing along those lines
This only happens when you have both 4g and GPS on? Its ok when you have 3g and GPS on?

I always leave 4G on. I can get a 4G signal sometimes at my desk. The phone is always plugged so I never thought of turning it off. I'll try it.
Edit: So far nothing. Fancy Widgets will give me a surrounding county weather info but still nothing for my city. Another weird thing is it's 9:30pm and it's still telling me it's sunny outside. Maybe the HTC widgets aren't as good as I thought.
This morning all of a sudden the time was 2.30 when it was supposed to be around 9. Then I noticed the location shows New York instead of Jyväskylä. Don't know what happened, reboot did not help. I unchecked "find location automatically" and tried to find my city Jyväskylä, but it's not in the list!
When I search Finland there is only few major cities, but not my city. What happened? I didn't do anything, no flashing, no updates, nothing. It worked when I went to sleep last night.
Any clues? Changing to fancy widget etc. is not a solution, because I use sense and I love it, and it's in sense core which affects time/location settings etc you know. I don't want to be late at work tomorrow, please help?
EDIT: Just noticed when I switch off from WiFi to Mobile Data, it's my city and time again. But when I connect back to WiFi, it's New York. This has not been happening before. What's the deal here?
Well if you do some Google research you'll eventually find this thread.
Once you have a read through, you'll determine that it's likely a bad wifi mapping of the area you're in. In that thread you'll also find this link to report it to Google: Report wrong location detection (WiFi only) - Google Mobile Help.
I hope that clears everything up for you.
I didn't do anything and now it has been back for a while... weird.

Your phone just got bad location data from the network.
I just woke up and noticed that my phone rolled back 2 hours with the end of DST. I went into the date and time settings and "use network settings" is checked but I noticed the grayed out time zone field says mountain -7 when I'm in central -6. Is this a rom issue, sprint issue, local tower issue, or something else? I'm on SFR1.2 and EF02 radio if it makes a difference.
And it just resolved itself... Weird.
It is clearly Sprint. I manually set it to Eastern time and then click to us network settings (sprint) and it goes back to Central. I am glad today wasn't a work day. I would have been an hour late....Thanks Sprint morons! If they can't handle a simple time change no wonder they can't do an OTA for GB!

Edit: It will correct after a reboot...again Stupid incompetent Sprint!
I don't recall having this issue before I updated to MB1, but I'm not sure it's because of MB1 either..
My weather widget (BeWeather) thinks I am in another town. Refreshing does display the right town. When I open Google Maps, it also displays me as in the wrong town for a moment. After it gets my GPS location it realizes I am at home. But it doesn't realize I am at home as soon as I close out G maps.... Google Now also shows the wrong town.
I thought maybe it was something got messed up and my WiFi location was changed. I was on 3g and the location error still persisted.
The only thing that I have changed lately besides upgrading to MB1 is I changed my PRL to 16012.
Any help would be appreciated.

Try updating/changing back PRL...
Updated PRL and Profile... It lists my right town now, wrong area of the town (but a spot I do frequent), but gets it right after a few moments.
I put my old PRL back to see if it says the wrong town again and it does... >.< Great. I didn't think a PRL could cause that problem.
UPDATE: Back on my regular PRL again, rebooted.. Still messed up location... Now I'm lost.. Sleep time.

I agree...I don't notice a difference in battery life at all. I suppose you might see a drain if you had a program running that required GPS to get your location all the time (say you leave navigation running) and you were locked in a bunker/building that had no way of reaching the GPS sats.
I always have GPS turned on, but I'm still getting the wrong location.
This is baffling me. GPS and location services are all turned on.. I've tried turning one off to see if the problem persists after a reboot.. It does.
I've put my PRL back to normal, however I am told a PRL change should NOT cause this issue. Now my phone is showing me locations across my state and some out of state.
My last resort will be going back to stock and redoing my ROM.
I just told BeWeather to use GPS vs Cell Towers/Network and it finally displays the correct town. However Google Now is still so far from where I am right now
