What does this even do and is it safe? Or it it just for the newer evos?

A radio is what communicates with the towers. Newer radios typically are more efficient and give better reception and quality and performance. It is safe as long as you follow directions. EXACTLY. Not all radios will give you better performance and quality a lot depends on where you leave.
For instance, when I had the HTC Hero I kept getting poor reception and battery with the newest radio they would put out so I flashed older ones and got better everything. I don't advise you to do this but on the Hero I actually used a Verizon radio because it gave me a crazy amount of improvement than the Sprint radios did. But what I mean here is experiment with radios in the Evo forums till you find one that gives you good everything.
Please don't go flashing Verizon radios. LOL.

this is great advice. i lost my wimax rsa keys and the only way i got them back was thru an amon ra nandroid

So I have been noticing no matter what Rom I am on my data speeds are absolutely horrendous. I thought maybe it was just the area I was in. Well I grabbed my dads evo and put both side by side and punched the same website on both devices. His non -rooted evo blew mine away in loading multiple websites. I can't understand why this is and I am becoming very frustrated , almost to the point of unrooting. Any ideas on why his stock evo would be quite a bit faster than mine ? P.s. I tried these tests with multiple roms....not just one .

Did you also update your data profile in addition to PRL? I've found that it really helps to do both after flashing a new rom. It's in the same place as where you update the PRL, "Update profile". Might be worth a shot if you haven't done so.
I know there is the "super secret menu item" it has been you tube'd to death. But now that Verizon is rolling out 4g coverage, specifically to my area, lol I was interested in if anyone has input on if our phones will run on the 4G net or if I am going and getting a Thunderbolt today..... Because TBH, the Thunderbolt doesn't impress me much over the DInc, aside from the 4G ability......well ok that and the kickstand I love lol Front facing cam? meh WHo would ever want to see my ugly mug lolol
My question is, do you think there will be an update pushed to enable the 4G? Granted I'll have to wait till SkyRaider 5.0 for it, but... thoughts?

It would be cool to say my incredible was 4g but considering there is no coverage around me, its pointless. I had an iPhone 4 and the front facing camera was nothing to write home about.

The Incredible does not have the hardware needed to run 4G. The menu item is meaningless and has been explained in other threads.

I did it using Google Gestures, wrote 4G and it came up lol. Does absolutely nothing though.

I can absolutely, with out a doubt, assure you in writing with blood, no Incredible with ever, ever work on 4G. 4G uses a technology much more similar to GSM than cdma and is in no way compatible, hardware or software wise.

I have seemed to be missing my wimax rsa keys. I am not good with pushing codes and do not have a back up of my wimax. They musst have broke when I flashed the lastest version on the radios. What would happen if I flashed them again? would this fix it or no?

No each key is device specific, so if you lost them with no back up they're gone forever.

If its gone its done, because each key is unique to each phone.
What you COULD do is the following, another user tried this, but I don't know the outcome, and you try it at your own risk:
Get another wimax.img from another user, call like sprint tech support, give them your phone information and see if they will give you the wimax key, then try changing the key in the wimax.img.
That's just nonsense haha... Good thing I don't live in an area getting 4g anytime soon

Search the forums my friend there a few threads on how to get your wimax keys back. Hope you still have the box and in the future nandroid is your friend.
Q - Did you back up your roms at anytime? If so did you back it up with your keys...Just a question?

I am having Sprint send me a new EVO due a **** load or issues.. my mother is allowing me to use her upgrade after they begin to ship my replacements tomorrow. I'm going to best buy and they have 4G phones....

Well I already have an EVO and sprint is sending me another one in a few days once I order it tomorrow. I really do love sense but I have heard a lot of bad about the 3d. Like overheating, freezing, bad funny speakers and reception Nd WiFi issues. Now I'm usually always on WiFi and use bt. So Idk what will happen also I have literally no bars so reception might be even worse for me.

No real point in upgrading to a sprint lte phone right now as there is no lte towers. You will be stuck with sprints slow 3g. Best to stick with the e4gt until the galaxy siii comes out.

You are right. However in my house I have no 4G except upstairs window. When home just keep wifi on and use my own internet. Even 3G and calls iffy in house. Without my Airwave my phone would be a brick most of time. Hope so called Network Vision improves coverage. I have no idea when lte is turned on if that will be any better than my current wimax 4g.

Have you played with both phones at the same time. Also are you bored with your phone? These are reasons to upgrade and of course do YOU think its worth it to you to upgrade. I have seen I love Gnex threads and I returned my Gnex threads, at the end of the day its really your preference. Go to Best Buy and check them all out... Jus' My Opinion

I made a thread about this the other day too because I have an upgrade so I went down to the sprint store and played with the Gnex and I dont know if there was something wrong with that one or what but it ran like ****! Force closes everywhere, could not get facial unlock to work. I just installed ICS Hydra rom on my E4GT and it runs SOOO much better than the Gnex. I also talked to a sprint employee and they said the E4GT is far superior. I wouldn't do it!
