This in NOT an emulator, nor is it a full ROM! Haret.exe closes down Windows, and boots Linux off of your Storage Card to launch Android. To boot back to WinMo all you need to do is reset your handset!
This thread is more specifically for the Rhodium, as this is the handset that I own, and can troubleshoot and test. So if you have specific questions about a different handset, please find your corresponding thread in post #2, however, this build will support the following devices: Diamond, Raphael, Kovsky, Topaz, Rhodium, & Blackstone by using the corresponding startup.txt found in any of the .rar files.
This package does work for both GSM and CDMA, however, the CDMA troubleshooting thread is at the following link: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=115443

This package will work on other MSM devices however, you may have some stability and functionality issues. If you are having issues with another device, other than the RHODIUM, check the dedicated forum. Most users on this specific thread only own a Rhodium, so we cannot test/troubleshoot other handsets!!

This is much better. AT least noobs like me can clearly follow this thread. Android on my Tilt 2 tonite. Thanx pioneers!!!!!!
Just a quick note that the 'rhod210' keymap (which is default in this build) should be pretty OK for almost all Rhodiums, unless you have an AZERTY layout or an odd European one with lots of accented letters mapped to Fn key combos. You can use Fn+Y to get the 'pipe' symbol | (may seem useless to many of you, but for those of us who poke around at consoles a lot it's invaluable :>). You can use Fn+W to get the UK pound currency symbol and Fn+E to get the Euro currency symbol - these keys are labelled on some Rhodiums so I figured I'd just implement it for all Rhodiums, as it may come in handy sometime.
if you have an odd keyboard layout but just want to use this build, the keys should behave like the layout pictured here:
http://mynokiablog.files.wordpress.com/2009/04/keyboard-2.jpg
so just press the keys as if they looked like that.
One day one day.... we shall have wifi I hope. Thank you for all your hardwork.
I'm trying to do something about wifi ATM with the kernel guys, but it's not simple. The problem is the Rhodium uses a completely different chip than most other phones, for wifi / Bluetooth (it uses a Broadcom BCM4325). No-one's got anything at all out of that chip yet.
Good show.. Thanks for making XDANDROID accessible to everyone.
BTW, Wifi not working at this time creates a good "shutdown/reboot" opportunity for now. The Shutdown option in Android does not seem to be working yet and so was interested in a way to shutdown/reset the phone without a "soft reset" poke after removing the back cover.
Found this by accident:
>>
Settings->Wireless & Network Settings->Wifi (Click to Enable Wifi) and boom in a few seconds, the phone is off like a light.. Hit the power button on top and we have a full reboot..
>>
Edit: The Wifi crash is fixed in the 02/03/10 build mentioned at the top of this thread. So need to open the back cover to reboot..
Man this is really nice. I can't wait to get a Nexus One but this will do for the TP2 for now. Almost there for everything to work. Can't wait for the release with sleep mode fixed and BT working.
Bootup problems
Not sure what/why, but my touch screen doesn't seem to be working as I can't get past the boot screen (touch the android) as the screen location doesn't seem to match up. Any ideas??
[EDIT] My bad, misseed the touch screen calibration...

Isnt that the same chip as the nexus and the iphone?
sd73ta: yup, indeed. In fact we might need a NAND dump from the n1 to fix it. The kernel guys took the driver from the n1 source, but we can't make it work yet.
edit: not quite the same, in fact - well, same as some iPhones, but the n1 has the BCM4329. The 4325 and 4329 use the same driver, though.

have you checked out the dream/nexus one subforums here for a dump or a NAND? i know there are always new dumps and NANDS in the dream forum, if there isnt one, i suggest you get ahold of cyanogen here on XDA. he is the android genius on the dream/mytouch. he might be able to lend a helping hand actually.

hope this is somehow usefull
Does anyone know how development on power management is coming along? The most recent builds seem fine for everyday use as far as functionality goes, but battery drain is immense.
It seems like acceptable battery life is the only thing that's keeping this project from offering basic everyday functionality (WiFi, camera and GPS would be nice in the future)

Powermanagement + SOUND... I only miss these two, don't care much for Wifi personally
This is a short summary of some important general points for posting new ROM's.
It should be considered as an optional "add-on" to the general thread:
"Galaxy S I9000 Android Development **STICKY THREAD** Read here first!"
The number of man hours spent working and developing new custom ROMs are astronomical! So why then, is it that so few new ROMs are successful? Basically because of lack of information and poor public visibility/involvement of the developers themselves. It's just like in any other successful business, you have to make your product or service stand out from the rest. Either by making an amazing product or by being a great inspiration for others to follow. Here I will try to explain and list some fundamental ideas, in order to make your ROM better and more popular.
When a would be ROM flasher is looking around for a new ROM, he searches the web and the XDA-forums for threads, usually beginning with the text "[ROM]". Next he/she look at the FIRST page where the developer (and his/her team) is presenting the various features of their new design. What is presented there will often be a decision maker for whether or not someone wants to try it out.
There are a few things that consistently differs between "good" ROMs and "bad/poor" ROM's. These things are often and naturally related to the amount of information available around the ROM in question. Someone who have put down enough mind, sweat and hart into the production (cooking) of a ROM, would also like to share his/her effort in the best possible way, not minding writing a detailed and useful description about their product. The items found below are part of some of these things that do MAKE A DIFFERENCE.
- Primary Purpose:
Essentially a description why you want to provide this ROM and why you think it is needed. What are the main features and driving forces for providing this ROM?
- Ultimate Gaming Experience
- Super stability
- Super Compatibility
- Great Battery Duration
- Minimalistic User Interface (UI)
- Simple to use functionality
- Latest and coolest never seen before interface behavior
- Fully loaded with ultimate editions of absolutely everything
- Mobile Penetration Testing Platform
- or perhaps just for educational or experimental purposes etc...
- Up-to-date Maintenance:
That means an active developer (or group of) who are readily available to answer questions from users of all levels, new or advanced! Often that they should be inhumanly available at all times of the day & night!
- Up-to-date Firmware Release:
That means the the source of your ROM is preferably based on the latest, but publicly available code/firmware. Not on some hidden leaks or old hacked code. When I say "hidden leaks" here, I mean the kind where the origin of the code (compiled or not) cannot be verified or downloaded. (BMW doesn't make car/sales advertisements using 2 year old engines from unknown/secret sources!)
- Detailed CHANGE-LOG:
People want to know that what they flash on their phones, is as close as possible to what they would like to see and use. Also from a paranoia perspective most of us would like to know that it doesn't contain 3rd party or other strange applications that we will never use, or which will give us trouble when we want to add/update applications, at a later time. A description of the various applications is also very useful. Most people would wonder what the "DarkBotSendHelper.apk" is doing on a phone.
A change-log would ideally consist of a list with:
- Title: Change Date and the custom ROM Version the changes apply to
- Full application name
- Full application version
- Short application description
- Link to application source-code, if available
- Link to application on "Android Market"
- Reference to what hacks has been made, if any
- Reason for why the hack is needed
- Unresolved BUG-LOG:
A brief log of bugs and unresolved issues that affects the current release. It is hard to explain without cussing how annoying it is to flash a new ROM, just to find out that some WiFi issue has not yet been resolved, which was posted on page 456/1200! If people post bugs/issues, that cannot be immediately resolved, please add those issues to the BUG-LOG, on the front page.
- Screen Shots! Updated Screen Shots!
The importance of good screen shots can never be enough emphasized! Many ROMs are updated continuously and if the screen-shots doesn't match what the user installs, he's gonna go WTF!, and will start to peppering your support threads with questions about how to install this and that, and how to get the same themes you are using in those screenshots, or from another different ROM altogether! You wouldn't be able to sell a new BMW with a picture of an old Volvo, would you? So why do you think a ROM would be any different? Also include a brief caption about the essential feature(s) shown, for each picture.
- Detailed Installation Instructions
This hardly need more explanation apart for making sure you also say something about:
- WIPE/No-WIPE
- Bootloader Requirements
- Recommended Procedure
- Detailed Device Compatibility List
Yes, the same gross model name/number of a particular device, may very well have some minor variations that can render the device completely incompatible with software from it's apparent twin-brother. Or even certain Firmwares may not be compatible to slight manufacturing variation. See for example the "Samsung Galaxy S" with their sub-models GT-I9000(B/M/T), and to complicate things further, even within the same model there may be slight differences, like in the PCB of the USB-port of the SGS2 GT-I9100.
- Detailed Language Compatibility
What do people use their phones for? Communication! Sure, some use them as a game pad, but after all it is primarily a browsing and communication device. So if you can't use your primary languages with your device, it is useless! Although some network operators are only beginning to understand that most of the connected world is at least bi-lingual and often much more. Thus it is of essence that your phone's keyboard, screen-reader and web-browser can read, display and understand most characters and alphabets around. (I.e. I still fail to understand why it is virtually impossible to find a phone with Russian, English, Spanish and Norwegian keyboard layouts/character sets or at least let me select these my self!) In addition it is very confusing for a first-time ROM flasher to understand the need for all the various PDA/PHONE and CSC region settings, which are often modified and re-packaged for a well cooked ROM, and thus no longer adhere to the original regional code.
So when you cook your ROM, please provide as much information as possible regarding how the user can adapt their phone to his/her own languages. This information includes at least:
- What languages are available for basic operation (the operating system)
- What languages are available for the keyboard mappings
- What keyboard applications can use these languages (Swype, Samsung Keyboard etc.)
- Simple instructions how to include, use and set the phone languages
- List of Technical Terms and Definitions that describe the ROM
The world of mobile device development is packed by technical jargon and abbreviated terms. Many times they are also abbreviated and used in the wrong context, although some the community know what it means. Simplify your vocabulary and clearly define your terms and stay with community standard ones!
- General Presentation
Like any other business presentation, please skip the HUGE fonts in a zillion colors. Most of us are neither blind nor illiterate, but you may risk to come across as being both, with those type of fonts. Remember "KISS"? - Keep It Simple Stupid.
- SPELL CHECK!!
It's embarrassing and very annoying to read descriptions of how great, professional and how well maintained a particular ROM is, when the text is riddled with misspellings, wrong words and childish grammatical errors. Although most of us are very understanding that we are living in a multicultural and multilingual society, sometimes all I think about is, how a person who doesn't know how to spell check, could ever be able to cook a mobile phone ROM. Most text editors feature at least some basic spell checking, bloody hell, USE IT!
- CREDITS
Most of the Android development community is completely driven by voluntary and open source work. Make sure to include the correct credits to those persons who have contributed to the various info/hacks/software that you include in your ROM. Use a separate list for the credits, that include the name (handle) and how/what he/she did to contribute.
2 Good Examples:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1350763
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1155776
Final Words:
It is very likely I have missed something here, or that you (as a developer or moderator) disagree on something I have written here, if so, please provide your constructive comments how I can improve this list and post.
In Great Expectations and Hope for Many New Amazing ROMs!

PS. This was posted in the "Developer Section" as it applies only to new ROM development threads, and I wouldn't consider this neither as "Q/A" nor "General". But if OP/MOD know of a better suited place, please just move it there...
Also I am not aware of a similar post to this one, even after searching XDA quite a lot. So if it already exists, it is not easy to find and should be reposted or stickied!
<Reserved>
@E:V:A
The only thing that I missed so far is a thread like yours.
Agree on all requirements of released software.
Sometimes I wonder how some "devs" priorities are stacked regarding quality control vs. early delivery on pay-per-download sites.
Not sure what is best place for this thread. Counting # of posts in General asking Q already answered in stickies, it's kind of accepted to skip reading what's there. :-\
Perhaps keep it alive as hottest thread here?

YES! Not giving credit where due is horrible, basically just forgetting all the hard work another individual has put in to the "feature" of your ROM. Also, this should probably be in general.
There are several similar threads in other device forums so I thought why not start one here. If the mods think this is in the wrong section or a bad idea please delete.
Okay so as of the time of this posting there is no "Galaxy S3 XBMC" specific version so I'm using one of the generic builds. "xbmcapp-armeabi-v7a-debug-20120714.apk" is the name of the one I found. Link
Works:
Pretty much everything "works". I haven't found any features that just refuse to execute.
Bugs:
mkv video playback is extremely choppy. Sound is perfect.
tiny menu items sometimes have to be long pressed slightly before they register. (In other words, fat fingers beware).
*edit* - It looks like they were aware of this when they released and are encouraging skinners to rewrite skins for specific devices. There is already an included theme called "touched" that addresses many of these issues.
That's it for now. I'll keep monitoring this thread and post updates to the OP if possible.
Where is the link? I've been waiting years to get xbmc on android.
This is an app and should be in the themes and apps subforum.
I apologize. Mods, please place this in the correct section.

The important part starts at point 4
1. The inevitable rant:
- If it wasn´t for the Stylus I would go for the Ipad Air... Why? 16GB only - No 32 or 64 available for me - and no way to move 90% of Games and big to SD without root.
- graphics for example RealRacing3 - Graphics on Note 10.1 LTE 2014 very bad compared to ipad4 Don't get me wrong, compared with other games graphics rock... But compared to an Ipad4 they just suck.
Have both - and best comparison you get in the car selection menu. On the ipad4 I can read even the printing on the trucks in the back... on it's just a blurry paste.
- KNOX
2. Please DON´T bother to write here, if your post is plain stupid - sorry to be offensive - Android/This and other android related forums were once great, until it became big and for the masses - so it had to be dumbed down to a level where we are now with no end in sight
- If you dont know what I mean then dont post, you are one of them.
Examples:
-- Samsungs remote deactivation as theft protection sure won't be supported much longer, because dumb user support is costing carriers too much money.
-- 2 SD is not working as it should be because for dumb users it createt to much trouble so now we have the f*****g internal eMMC posing as EXTERNAL SD
-- permissions - soon we will have no way to change them and shut down spying features of - for example torchlight needing full internet access and contacts - thanks to dumb users
3. I know this is a dilemma - this forum should be for all users - old ones and newcommers - It helped me a lot to enjoy and use and get so sad to see the downfall
but soemwhere should be a line and this was crossed with a long time ago
-- All hopes are now with UBUNTU which should work on Note3 and Note 10.1 2014 - comming middle to end 2014
-- Hopes of what: Not being for dumb people
I have no clue about Linux/Ubuntu - same as I started with - but I learned/experimented/read - and I avoided stupid quesions and postings - looking at Linux / Ubuntu forums its still like heaven. Tons of stuff to read, forums are full intelligent questions and responses, because those people actually have an IQ above the average user now - who has to be able to register to a damn forum
4 :victory: What I actually wanted to know
Actually I have ignored now what I expect from others: read and inform more than a day before posting
But here we go:
- I want so swap external with internal SD (mostly for my games) have not found a to do this without root ( I know there isnt any )
+Is there a way without at least permanent root?
+How reliable are root-requiering options like: modyfying vold.fstab or Int2ext or others? - had sometimes trouble like dublicate files - folders - crashes after some time. Especially after reboots with those solutions on my Note 1
+What is the best root solution- maybe with hide root option (integrated or external)? so Samsung HUB (Video, Learning...) and mirroring stays usable?
But it has to work with an Internal - External SD swapping even if temporarily deactivated/hidden for the metioned Samsung stuff to work
+ Knox should / must be untouched

SIR - reading through your last 50 posts on this forum - you belong to the group I asked not to post here
Most of your posts are for the sake of typing somewhat
EDIT actually your posts are at times quite good - but still lots of stuff that didnt need to be
remember android forums years back - there was hardly useless stuff... you had a problem the solution was somewhre... if it wasnt it was answered in threads with max 10 posts... 90% just usefull stuff--- nowerdays 90% useless answers
the more useless answers appear the harder it is for intelligent newcommers to read through all the stuff, to get to the point/solution.
stupid people see tons of posts/threads... dont bother searching and start own threads or even start answering cause it seems to be normal to write stuff just for the writings sake
I am asking about the best solution that is actually working without causing too many problems - There are multiple threads here with solutions
but
A not working with both
B user experiences are not good
C Could/Should be what I am looking for but no user experience posted because - forgotten about - thread title/tags not correct
Not all apps are able to be put on the sd card without root but some are, go to : settings , general tab, down to application manager, swipe over to SD card then checkmark apps.
Samsung hub you go can put music/movies by going to that app and settings menu button then choose ext SD for storage.

WTF no stupid useless answers please this is XDA DEVELOPERS not some thread for users that cant wipe their own ass and dont know the rudimentary stuff!
Or did my question sound like I couldnt wipe my ass?
Do you have rooted and disabled root temporarily to use Learning / Video Hub?
Did the temporary unroot cause problems with Folder Mount / Directory Bind / modyfying vold.fstab or Int2ext?
Does Chainfires hideroot work in a way that Learning/ Video hub is not affected? or is there any other possibility to hide root that is working?
For the Note1 and old 10.1 it took almost half a year to make all this work... seems Note 3 and Note 10.1 2014 are doomed because more and more stupid users come to this forum/ Android in general and devs are just not willing to keep up with all the bulls**t here.

No comment on the ass wipery.
On point 1 though, hasn't it been well documented that apps (games) aren't optimised for this tablet yet? Which would explain why they look "blurrier" on this tablet compared to the ipad. Even though this tablet actuallly has higher resolution. Almost certainly its a fault with the app.
Now I would wait for you to randomly shout abuse, but I doubt I'll bother reading this thread again, so go for it.
Asking for help while insulting people seems like a bold strategy. I hope it works out for you.
Development for a Knox-free root for the WiFi model; you need to understand people do this for FREE or by donation. If you're so impatient, I recommend you either learn how to do it yourself (see how hard it is) or donate and wait patiently for a kind developer to do it for you. I don't know why you would have bought this tablet fully knowing about Knox, and needing to root to move your games to SD. Calling everyone else stupid is childish, grow up.
Also, you can still root, it's not like its impossible. So what you void your warranty, you get what you want if it's that important to you.
I didn't buy this tablet over an iPad because of games and tablet optimization. If that was of importance immediately I would have bought an iPad. You have to understand that this tablet is one of a handful of tablets that has this high of a resolution. Until there is more supporting hardware on the market (next year) you will likely not see too many apps / games taking full advantage of the higher resolution.
I bought this tablet for the fact I will likely have it for 3-4 years and I see Android quickly catching up to Apple in the tablet space within a year. I'll take improved hardware and future support for it as a positive, not a negative. Game developers will come around to optimizing soon, as will a Knox-free root.
Go yell at Samsung for KNOX, or for their warranty policy, but not developers who are doing you a service.

optimised? Android? Well you know how far optimization can go for android devices... just look at all games that are available for ios and android (including the tegra optimized stuff... its like comparing xbox360(Aandroid) games to xbox one(iOS) games the difference in graphics quality is huge...
reasons... not cost effective - profitable (much more android users are downloading cracked apps then iOS users)
Android will stay in that matter always far behind iOS

I have the 605 LTE ... who even bothers buying a WIFI version - just my oppinion
I can wait ... I will wait... what this tread was for, were user experiences... what is working and what is not working... to save me time and others who want the same to read quickly through this thread what is possible and what not...
BUT it seems even this thread is becomming like every other one... everybody is writing some bull**** just for the sake of typing
IF someone comes here to write his/hers experience it maybe full of useless posts as 90% of this forum
Hard to find a solution even if searching hard...
pointless maybe for someone to answer because of all the pointless stuff alredy posted
FOR GODS SAKE:
if you have tried some of the stuff please post your experience
If and how it was working or if we should wait.
If you know any other way not mentioned (but I think I have covered all possible solutions please share it
When I have time next week or the week after that I will try it myself
ALL the others PLEASE GO AWAY

stupid people see tons of posts/threads... dont bother searching and start own threads or even start answering cause it seems to be normal to write stuff just for the writings sake
I am asking about the best solution that is actually working without causing too many problems - There are multiple threads here with solutions
but
A not working with both
B user experiences are not good
C Could/Should be what I am looking for but no user experience posted because - forgotten about - thread title/tags not correct

I know your seeking an answer to a problem........ I truly try to help people and question do need to be asked.
I agree that 90% of what is written does not need to be.
I'm also sick and tired of posts like this "My tablet stopped working after I rooted, need help"
The OP does not give any details on the original post and it takes 15 post to get out of them (info that should have been in the first post) what exactly is wrong, what model number they have, what firmware build number they have, are they rooted, what version of Odin they are using, what recovery version they have installed. Sometimes when you ask these questions you get half of the information and have to ask again. Posters install custom firmware without reading the complete post by the developer explaining what they need and exactly how to do it, they don't follow the directions and you have to point out there errors.
So I can see your anger about posters and postings but your anger and cockiness is uncalled for......
Good luck with your search, I hope you find an answer that suits you.
Please don't reply to this post as it will contradict your rude point.
I think I see your issue and might know a solution, Flyer.michael.
First, you seem to be looking for a 0x0 Knox root. See below, as I think this method will work for the 605 LTE model:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2501700
Second, you wanted some kind of apps to SD option. Looks like there are some options on the Play Store, but you might want to look into this one:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.droidsail.dsapp2sd
This requires root, but it seems like you can move / link apps to your SD as needed. Again, not sure if this is what you were looking for but it might be worth a shot if you're rooted, not sure if this even refers to what you were wanting. I did read on some other forums that Samsung has some issues with Apps 2 SD and it may be a bigger problem than can be fixed with a root method.
Lastly it looked like game resolution was disappointing for you. You might be able to try one of the following:
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2329080 ---- This option might not be what you were wanting, as it causes some other issues.
2. http://liliputing.com/2013/01/chang...-enable-tablet-apps-on-a-phone-root-only.html ---- Xposed has a module Xposed App Settings and it seems like from within that you can change the resolution on a per app basis. Maybe that will work. DPI will not effect game resolution, but the resolution change option might work. Not sure if this module works for our tablet or not... but again, worth a shot if you feel like it.
I haven't used the Xposed module on this tablet, as I refuse to root until my 600 WiFi model supports a Knox-free root method. I chose the WiFi model as I have set up an automatic bluetooth tether for data connection since I always have my phone on me. Figured it was worth saving $100.
Anyway, I hope this might help.
I don't know why you think that this attitude is acceptable in here but i have to inform you that it is not.
You are always saying about how good android world used to be, but, did you used to read posts like yours? "Useless", insulting rants??
Thread closed. Honestly, i want you to find an answer to your question but with this attitude you will get nowhere in this forum.
Please read the forum rules.
Recieved my shiny new Jiayu S3 3GB version today.
Noticed some dodgy apps in the all apps list, decided to malware scan - glad I did!
First check to see if your device is infected.
Go to your google apps play store and install Malware-byte's Anti-Malware Mobile.
Run a scan on the device, if it's the same as me you'll get 19 detected items. Feel free to scan with another scanner if you don't trust it.
After scanning with just Malware-bytes, the items I had were:
afternoon
Black Hole
blue sea
Butterfly Love
Fangge
Fantasy
FoldPager
Galaxy5
GoldenLife
Gridiron
honor
IOS7
LuckyCat
Petal
PowderBox
Snow and ice
Star Diamond
Twinkle
Zoo
REMOVAL:
I had to go into the security menu of the settings and enable Superuser.
Install this app from the Play Store: 'System app remover (ROOT)' (I can't post outside links)
Using this app you can remove the apps. I also removed the "Unlocker" and "father.rickety.ordinaire.suspiciousness" even though they weren't detected as Malware because..well they sound suspicious. (I mean come on, 'suspiciousness' in the title?!)
I have been monitoring the phone and I have seen no effect of functionality after removing these packages.
The speed of the phone has also increased, which is nice.
From my research it looks like Jiayu have used a 4.4.4 base ROM that was infected as there are other Jaiyu phones with the 4.4.4 ROM that are infected with these.
Best of luck and enjoy your malware free Jiayu S3
I am on the latest S3S rom 20150507-083407 and ran this anti malware and it picked up nothing, a clean scan. I bought mine from the Factory website.
No known malware on mine. As an extra precaution I use DroidWall, a iptables app to block any conversation from apps that don't need access to internet or lan.
KapzyPanda, where did you buy your phone ? Have you changed the Android (OTA, custom ROM) ?
I got mine from coolicool, EU warehouse, several OTA updates, then update to S3S 20150507-083407 from needrom.
Scanning now, found 2 problems.
Actually, the same file: WiFiKill - this is not a problem.
Your 19 problems found - what was the name of the infection ?
Congratulations..... you managed to remove all your pretty (variety) lock screens. Including the star diamond which is FABULOUS and can be seen in action in s7yler's review of this phone on youtube at time code 6:40.... In the later firmware version it has been removed because of all the false flagging which is a darn shame because I love this lock screen. Soooooo if any of you know how to get hold of the desired star diamond, DO please let me know...... It would be much appreciated....

I guess if you can find the ROM (perhaps on needrom), then you can unpack it, and loop mount the system partition where the star diamond can be found as apk.

I didn't even know that was possible.... Newbie eager to learn..... Just did a search on the how to's now and see that you can unpack a rom with winrar etc.... Wow... Now I don't understand the loop mounting bit (yet) but I guess I can't just extract the apk, place it in the download folder and run because it's part of the system? What about using something like APK Swapper?

I work on linux where one loop mounts files that are filesystems. I guess similar tools exist on other operating systems, but I cannot tell. Sorry...

NAH! You've been a great help! thanks....
hi
you should be careful from where you download roms.
Some will/are indeed infected.
I saw at least 3 roms infected (2 from that site we all know needr ...) and another one from another forum ...
Also, some Chinese stores re-flashed their devices, with those roms... I dont know whats the deal...
cheers
The deal is that what we consider viruses the China based devices are required to have so the Chinese government can monitor it's citizens.
To be honest unless you live in China I would avoid China devices.

@zelendel
You seem to hold sufficient wisdom to close threads where so called
illegal activity is happening by innocent people who do not even know
it is illegal and where one would rather need to put people in jail
who provide tools to implement the illegal activity. It is like you
point to the drug user in stead of the drug dealer. These are my last
words on XDA. I disappear and perhaps come back under different name
(this one and all names here are kind of fake anyway).

If it is legal or not depends on where you live. Plain and simple. Just because people don't know it's illegal doesn't protect them. It's called research. Something that should be done.
Also making another account is against xda rules and is a banable offence.
There is an app called recents. It has a blue icon with a cog. I didn't install that and every time I unlocked my phone filled my screen with ads. I got rid of the app and everything is fine. Please check your phones

Which ROM? You can search the big thread from "s7yler" for a user named "NStorm". He found some maleware.
