I read somewhere that said only the sense roms can allow access to the EPST menu, but each one I have tried has failed so far. Anyone know if there is a ROM out there that lets me dial ##778 to get to the menu?
Try a stock sense 1 ROM like stock plus or mcsense or gingerstock.
Were you trying sense 3.5 roms? Afaik they don't support epst properly.

Yes, it was Sense 3.5. I also tried the gingerstock rom and it didn't work either. I'll try and find a stock sense 1 ROM. I hear the Mcsense is pretty good. Thanks for the help.

Try Wildstangs ota 4.08.605.2 base rom, Jermaines Stock+ rom or my Touch Of Blue rom, EPST works on all of them.

I'm using the McSense rom but it doesn't seem to work for me. Am I doing something wrong? ##778 then press the call button, brings up my contacts? Strange..

That should be it. Try adding a pound to the end (##778#). I know some roms also use ##data#, *#*#program#*#*, or *#*#data#*#*
this never worked for me!

I'm gonna try the Touch of Blue next. The others didn't seem to work. Each time I hit ##778/send, it would just do nothing. It acts like it wants to open EPST, but never does.

Same here. I've tried every Sense ROM with no success, even the Touch of Blue, which us a beautiful ROM BTW. When I dial #778 and hit send, it acts like its trying to open the menu, but nothing comes up. Also, nothing responds on the screen until I hit the back button.

Very weird, i am running my rom TOB and can access it with no issues. I have always been able to access it except on a few ported roms. Im not sure what would be the difference. Same rom same phone, the only difference is whats on our emmc and sdcard, and that shouldt make a bit of difference. Mabey htc changed something in the phones along the way, causing some people to have different results than others. Only other thing i could think of is screen type, i have amoled, but that shouldnt make a difference either.
Also i noticed you said #778 it should be ##778# hit dial, may have just been a typo on your part.
Do you think maybe its because I'm using a different SD card?

Shouldnt matter, as far as i know epst does not use the sdcard.
If you really need to access those settings, you could always use QPST on your pc.

Maybe I'll get it figured out. Its weird because when I was on stock GB before I rooted I could access EPST, but since rooting I can't access it unless I restore my original rom.

I still cannot figure out why EPST isn't working with any rom I flash. I actually started using the Nils Business Sense 3.5 and when I dial ##778#, it says initializing, but never opens EPST. That's more then the Sense 1.0 roms have done for me.
no epst
Same here . was stock 2.3.4 and did root s-off did nandroid of stock and flashed sense + .. now no epst on anything .. restored recovery and its doing the same thing ##778# and just locks the screen up . I have to hit the back key to unfreeze it . ##diag# does work however .. ( i wish some one could figure this out i need epst . My MiP profile keeps changing from 1 to 0 on every boot and i lose 3g 1x . Could it be something different on the phones that see a working epst like the radio or s on or hboot ver ? mine is 0.92 s-off with the newest ota radio
Synergy ROM's EPST works perfect. Use ##778#.
Thanks..found my dream rom. has Everything cm does plus its 100% sense. love it and. now it on Vmobile. epst works ..skyraider 4.0 ++ . rom is not availible here though.thru the developers site only.

Can you please beter define step 1? "flash your rom on deal ##3282##... I recognize the dialer code but what exactly are you saying here?
As for "any ROM".. is that really true? Dialer codes don't work on CM ROMs, right? So this only works on TW ROMs with in-tact dailer codes?

I'm sure he meant, "...AND DIAL ##3282#"
Yeah It will work if your rom support it...
If not find out how to get the programming to work so that you can dial the ##3282# and program your phone from there. In cm10.1 or other nonexistent programming you may have to add the hidden file back in which the developers removed for a reason.

All,
After attempting to find a solution to the WifiTether_TrevE_Mod not working after 4.3 ( 2.10.605.1 ). I have found an alternate solution to use the native HOTSPOT application and it does not prompt to subscribe to it for those of us who have unlimited data.
I cannot take full credit for finding the fix for this I had to look in the following for the XML edits: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2467651&page=7
The update script is by andybones, and i modified it, and the xml.
There are 3 flashables i did put together based on this. DeODEX/ODEX versions and Stock. The first two just re-add the WifiRouter_JB43.apk and odexed file respectively depending on which you use, and also removes TetheringGuard.apk.
The Stock, simply places the origional xml file back and puts the TetheringGuard.apk back as well. That one will work for odex and deodex.
THESE ARE ONLY FOR STOCK ROMS. I CANNOT CONFIRM THESE WILL WORK ON CUSTOM ROMS.
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU USE THE CORRECT VERSION, OR YOU WILL GET FORCE CLOSE ON THE DIALER! THE FILES IN THIS OP ARE FOR 4.3 ( 2.10.605.1 ) ONLY RIGHT BELOW THIS THERE IS A LINK TO 4.4.2

Works great, thx! While its a bummer that the widget doesn't work properly at least the EQS tile toggles it on and off with no problem. Thx again!
Just to confirm.
you are using the Verizon Hotspot software that comes on the stock rom?
Awesome, thanks! Works perfectly. I actually didn't flash the zip, instead made the changes manually. The WifiRouter_JB43.apk was already on my phone, verified to be identical. So just had to rename ThetheringGuard.apk (and odex) and manually made the XML edits. As you mentioned, the Hotspot widget doesn't work, but it's easy enough to turn it on from quick settings.
Many thanks.

You don't HAVE to rename tether guard, I tested it with and without.
IF only the widget works, that would be great, but not too much inconvenience with quick settings, i am satisfied.
This is exactly what I was looking for. I was thinking about flashing stock rooted but didn't want to give up native hotspot.

No charge on bill
I just got my bill today as the 19th was the last day of my billing cycle, and i used the hotspot mod that day.
I DO NOT HAVE CHARGES on my bill for this just so everyone knows or is worried it might generate a charge.
Great work! I love all the little scripts you're putting out to remove all the annoyances on the VZW HTC One. I was looking for a way to enable tethering so I could pair my Nexus 7 with my HTC One if I ever had the need and came across this thread. I was about to go and flash the zip file but I thought I'd take a quick look at my current setup first. Since I am running @santod040's debloated stock rom I was already rid of the Tethering Guard, but I still had the WifiRouter_JB43.apk so I just pulled the default.xml and made the changes, then pushed it back and fixed the permissions. I decided to do it manually once I realized that the default.xml had a bunch of new settings that had been appended to it since I flashed the rom. Now the stock tethering is working beautifully. I don't know if this will help anyone or not, but here is a diff of the stock XML and the one included in this zip to make it clear which lines need to be changed.

I cant speak for 4.2, however you can always make the changes to the correct XML file as shown a few posts up, and make sure you have the wifi router app installed, and it could work
It's not working on mine for some reason, stock 4.3 Sprint Rom, rooted with philz recovery, build MK3, tried ODEX and DEODEX, same result, when I turn on the sprint hotspot it says I'm not subscribed. Maybe I missed something?

Quick question
do I load the zips using CMR Zip installer?
Thanks

working on it.
I recently set up FreedomPop on my EVO 4G and everything worked OK. Shortly thereafter I installed Cyanmobile ROM and everything still worked. After a while though I could no longer dial calls. I could still use the 4G for data though. Apparently the profile needs to be updated from time to time.
I did some looking around and found that cyanogen didn't have a way to update the profile file and that to do it you had to backup cyanogen , install a stock ROM, uptate the profile file, then restore cyanogen. I also found a post
http://blog.ryantadams.com/2013/03/03/updating-prl-from-within-cyanogenmod/
That discussed why cyanogen couldn't install the update and proposed a way to do this by creating a contact with a specific dial code that you can call that will update the PRL file. The post discussed the code for Verizon and there was a comment about Sprint and the reply was that he thought it was simply *2,,,,,2 and suggested contacting the provider to find out.
I tried *2,,,,,2 and it didn't work. I contacted FreedomPop and all I could get out of them that the phone service is connected though the FreedomPop messaging application. I thought I could de-compile this app and then do a search for a string starting with a "*". I tried that but didn't find anything.
Does anyone know if this method works and what the code is, how to find out what the code is, or anything about this?
Also, is there a way to update the profile from adb?
There's no way to update Profile from a non-Sprint-based Sense ROM that I'm aware of. I just use Boot Manager to switch between ROMs when I need to update Profile/PRL.

Not exactly dual boot. It'll run a ROM from your sd card, essentially. The app is on the Play Store.

would like that
At the time I posted this I was using an EVO 4G and FP was using the Sprint Wimax network. Because of some hardware problems (USB port and main board or screen connectors) with my phone and the fact that Sprint/FP were switcing to Lte I switched to a FP Samsung Galaxy S3, which among other things came rooted. Because of this I never followed though on this advice. I can't help with a copy of the stock ROM either, but, I'm sure it is around.
You comment was timely though, because I'm on the verge of installing CM on the S3. I went to CM on the othe phone mainly because of low memory memory issues. When KitKat was updated to 4.4.2 they made it so that third party apps can't write the the SD card. They've since fixed their fix for KitKat for newer phones anyway, but, the S3 is stuck with 4.4.2. Theres and app that is supposed to fix it, but, it doesn't work, on my phone anyway.
The new CM still doesn't allow updating PRL/Profiles, so I was trying to remember the advice from this post.
I had remembered that there was a dual boot approach to switch back to stock for PRL/Profile updates. The MultiROM TWRP recovery is not compatible with my phone, but, I did find:
[TOOL] [MultiSystem] MultiROM and Recovery Replacement for Android
It is described in: xda-developers Android Development and Hacking Android Software and Hacking General [Developers Only] [TOOL] [MultiSystem] MultiROM and Recovery Replacement for Android by hsbadr.
It looks like what will work with the phone I have now. I will look into it futher.
I found an old freedompop usb stick in my draw, can I use it for my htc evo 4g too?
if anyone's needing the freedompop rom let me know. I would post it but don't have it uploaded yet if theres anyone that needs it though ill take the time to get it online

can you explain your situation a little better? cyanogenmod dropped support for the Evo4g awhile back, was it a Stable rom you flashed and not a nightly? maybe you should try out another rom.
I suggest trying cyanmobile. It is gingerbread based so hdmi, 4g, etc all work but it has many jb features built in. Also has a massive amount of custom settings you wont find in any rom anywhere.

my suggestion is that you should flash a different ROM and see if your Bluetooth will still work. as for the order, grab what rom you want first (make sure its for your phone HTC evo4g supersonic and not the HTC evo4g view or LTE) and depending on what version of android the rom is you need to download Gapps (this gives you the necessary apps in order to be able to sign into your gmail and download apps off the app store) from here http://goo.im/gapps choose which one the Roms Android version is and put both the rom and gapps onto your phones SD card. boot into your recovery, backup your current rom then wipe and reset. after thats done flash the rom first then after flash your Gapps and reboot and check your wifi and Bluetooth.
thank you
ty to all who helped i have fixed it
