Stuck on HTC Boot - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, would appreciate a little assistance, thank you.
Flashed the gingerbread keyboard file from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9634029&postcount=10
There after my unit is stuck at the HTC boot screen.
My unit is a Telus unit. S-ON and rooted with ClockWork 2.5.1.2. Can boot to recovery.
Here's the specific HBOOT details in case it's important.

I assume I have to flash an RUU and re-root. Can someone point me to the right one for a Telus unit.
Unless of course someone has a set of ADB suggestions to backing out the 2.3 keyboard. And, no I didn't do a backup, yeah, my bad there. The unit is actually a friends that I was working on, so being fresh out of the box, didn't see the need to Nandroid.

wipe and reflash a custom rom from recovery. i suppose that you can get into recovery. again, wipe everything before reflash.
cheers.

Do you or anyone know if I need a goldcard for a Telus unit?

if you have a custom recovery put a custom rom in your sd card. wipe all, reflash. S-on has got nothing to do with it.

Thanks much. Figured I had nothing to lose so flashed CM nightly to resume.
Guess the gingerbread keyboard is totally incompatible with the stock ROM.

[Q] putting stock rom back on branded htc desire

Morning people. Just have question in relation to unrooting h3g UK branded desire. I need to send back to get q minor hardware problem fixed. My software info is as follows.
andriod version 2.2
baseband version 32.48.00.32U_5.11.05.14
kernel version 2.632.15-g5d39305 htc-kernel at and18-2#1
build number 2.25.771.1 CL254759 release-keys
*software number 2.25.771.1
*browser version webkit 3.1
I also have the newer model which when rooted via unrevoked does not give s-off.
I have a goldcard and would just like to get a definitive answer. Will using the Rom for h3g on shipped roms website unroot my phone. Bear in mind I cannot back up my current Rom
thanx in advance!
the at is the sign but can't post it due to link rules for new users1
Yes, it will unroot your phone.
Swyped from Oxygen
Thanx for tje reply. Any suggestions on which one to use. Also how do I use my gold card?
Use the latest h3g ruu which you can find on http://shipped-roms.com
Put your goldcard in your desire, run the downloaded exe and follow the instructions on the screen.
Swyped from Oxygen
Thanx for the tips. It a real comfort having u guys around to put our noob minds at ease. Big help!
Actually could I ask one more thing. How would o go about rooting again. This time I can't flash a new Rom. I want to be able to back up my current Rom before using alpharev to change boot. Any suggestions?
To run alpharev, you need root access. If you have root access (probably with using unrevoked), you have a revovery with witch you can backup your current system.
Sent from Oxygen
So it should be. But due to my model I can't flash recovery. All that happens is after selecting recovery in CWM the screen goes black and I have to take tje battery out to start the phone. I done some research on tje web and it is due to the model of desire I have. UNREVOKED does not take s-off. I know I have to use alpharev to correct it but ad I can't flash recovery I am nervous to try. Any suggestions?

Clockwork does not work with pvt4 desires. You have to flash amonra recovery.
Sent from Oxygen
aaaaaa!! was looking at that, so i flash amonra and i can then flash recover. good. i canthen take the risk using alpharev. will the ruu work with pvt4 and the hboot that i havegot. saw something that indicates that it may need downgrading?
Yes, the ruu will work with your phone.
But i think you getting something wrong:
You cannot backup your hboot with recovery. If the s-off procedure by alpharev fails, your phone might be bricked. Now backup can protect you from this, because the bootloader (which gets changed in this s-off procedure) is the absolute base of your phone. If this one is bricked, your phone is not more than a paperweight.
in the meantime i have managed to replace CWM with AmonRa. I now have a current rom back up. If some thing goes wrong with the alpharev procedure, will this recovery image allow me to restore to the current state i have now. It sounds like it won't if i am getting you correctly?

I am new here, so I don't know if this is the correct section or not.
Anyway, I flashed a recovery image using ROM Manager.
Now, when I go into recovery, through ROM Manager or not, it hangs on the htc screen.
What do I do?

Try to enter recovery manually (power off, then Vol- + power until Hnoot screen appears). If it doesn't work, install 4ext app and flash different recovery.
Good luck.

First of all, get rid of ROM Manager. It's a horrible software and causes more problems than it solves. Second of all, please post information from your hboot (top left corner).

After rooting the stock rom, I had taken a nandroid backup. The phone is in warranty period till June 2012. I want to sell it unrooted and with the stock rom that my phone came with. I looked up for RUUs but how do I know that the RUU available for my country (India) is the latest one and my phone had the same one originally.
I know the procedure of unrooting but do I need to restore my original nandroid backup and then flash the RUU?
OR
I can simply do it from my current rom (ICS)
OR
Will it unroot if I restore the original nandroid backup and then factory reset it?
Will the phone work perfectly if I flash the official Gingerbread RUU from HTC Dev?
I don't want any issues from the buyer after selling the phone.

So it means that I won't need to downgrade to S-OFF my device. I can straightaway flash any stock RUU on it?

[Q] Problems with booting into stock rom.

I have this desire that I got. It takes forever to boot into stock rom. But when it gets in it says connect charger, but charger is connected. There is only a black image and no status bar. I want to try intall costum rom, but debugging mode is not enabled, so i cant root. I have the stock Android recovery but i get a error message e: can't mount /cache/recovery/command. Is there anyway i can install a rom from scratch, either a stock or a costom rom? Just so I can reset the whole thing. I have wiped every thing. Both cache and data. It also takes forever to boot into recovery.

Well once you have it let me know what the hboot version is. If it's compatible with revolutionary, you can easily obtain s-off (very important to have before doing anything risky with the phone). After you've got s-off you can do a full wipe and flash a ROM using the custom recovery of your choice.

I tried telling you before, it's likely hardware.
You're already on stock ROM, even if you get it to S-ON I don't believe it will make a difference to the camera.
If you really need to get to S-ON, try flashing the downgrader manually using fastboot commands instead of android flasher. Set it up here You will know it works as it will say "Alpharev Unlock" at the top of the bootloader screen.
Then try the 2.3.3 RUU again.
If the camera still doesn't work, S-ON and stock ROM, then it's hardware related.

Weird. Try the PB99IMG.zip.

It says Not Allowed, which to me sounds like your no longer s-off. Are you?
Try using the PB99IMG.zip method and see if that works.

In PB99IMG.zip method , I have to rename ""bravo_downgrade.img"" in to PB99IMG.zip and put it on sd card root, and then open phone in boot HBOOT ? After that again run 2.3 RUU ?

No, you DONT just rename an .img file to a .zip file. Download the PB99IMG_downgrade.zip from alpharev. Then rename that file to PB99IMG.zip. After that put it on the root of the sdcard, and boot into hboot. Wait a few seconds and it should ask you if you want to install. If it installs successfully run the 2.3 RUU.
