Good time of the day every one, have a small problem.
I can't manage to launch app for making screenshots.
Used following site:
sameshow.com/democreator/article/capture-screen-on-android-phone.html[/url]
But when i try to launch this app, it starts for a brief second, then just switches off? Nothing, just a brief black (dos?) screen and then it's gone.
Any help is very welcome.
With easy way you should root your device and there are alternative apps like Shootme, Instant Screen Off and Screen Capture.
If your device is not rooted. check out here

I'm going mad here trying to find a screen Lock suitable to my needs. Can anyone please help? I want a simple screen lock, nothing fancy, no bells'n'whistles, but with the following two essential features.
1) Screen Lock is quickly unlocked with a simple screen swipe as soon as I either power on or slide open the device (ideally slide-opening would automatically unlock without requiring a swipe).
2) When running on external power the screen should unlock automatically and remain unlocked.
I've now auditioned PocketShield, Sunscape, TouchLockPro and S2U2 all of which may have one or other of those features, but none have both.
Can anyone please recommend anything else? Thank you.
1) In Pocketshield you can auto unlock by sliding QWERTY out if you create the following reg key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Pocketshield\ROTATE=1 (DWORD)
2) There is an option for it in settings.
Thanks for that. I've decided to give PocketShield another go and am auditioning it at the moment. Also I've changed my UI from Winterface to Spb Mobile Shell 3.5 because I wondered whether Winterface wasn't working well with PocketShield.
But here's my issue with PocketShield, perhaps somebody can please help?
If I open the slide keyboard I am able for a second or two to use the device as if it were not locked, before PocketShield "remembers" that is supposed to be on and then suddenly the device gets upset, slow, stuck, until I can find and unlock pocketShield. If I first power on and then slide open the keyboard, everything is fine, but everything stays in portrait, even though the keyboard is open. I can unlock PocketShield properly (though sideways) but then everything else is displayed in portrait, even though the keyboard is open.
I tried the reg tweak suggested, but found that that just caused even more confusion; portrait trying to change the landscape at the same time as the UI was trying to appear, at the same time as PocketShield was trying to put up its lock screen, basically chaos!
Any thoughts anyone, please?
My S2U2 v 2.42, has both of those options. Just go to Settings>Others
1. Action when connect to power>Unlock
2. Unlock when Keyboard is opened>On
Thanks. I've been trying out PocketShield all day and it seems that in its simplest terms there is a delay between switching on the unit and PocketShield realising it should be locking the screen, during which time it is possible to start an action which is then instantly stopped when PocketShield kicks in. Ridiculous.
I'll give S2U2 another shot now, cheers.
Smart unlock, its in the software worth installing section, does exactly what you want
I'm getting very frustrated here and beginning to think that my problem is nothing to do with one screen lock program or another, but with my unit.
Whichever screen lock I install, roughly 60% of the time the lock works as it should, but about 40% of the time there is a short period between powering on and the screen lock preventing me from doing anything. During this time it's possible to use the unit normally for a second or two until the screen lock kicks in, at which point often the unit gets confused, actions jam, and I often end up having to soft reset.
With all of the locks I've tried, if I open the keyboard and THEN power on, this also causes confusion.
Can anybody possibly shed any light on all this, please?
Could be that one of your installed applications is subscribed to the power on event and performs a very intensive processing each time device is turned on, delaying other subscriber apps such as lock screens. You might want to try uninstalling one by one to see if any culprit. Last resource is hard reset.
Thanks Pckshd. To be honest I've just had a rough day with the phone: it froze last night and on soft reset wouldn't boot up. This morning was the same story so eventually I was forced to do a hard reset. Then my most recent backup wouldn't restore, claiming there wasn't enough memory in the phone (how can that be? It was backed up from the phone!). Eventually I had to rebuild everything and right now haven't dared install any of the screen lock programs!
Is there not a registry entry anywhere that would show me which programs are taking priority over power on? My UI of choice, Winterface, as its own screen Lock, which is almost 100% reliable but regrettably continues to run went on mains power (I want one that unlocks on mains power, the desired feature that started all this off in the first place).
I need some form of manual, review, webpage, etc to be able to have my dad read up on how to use an Android phone. He has been asking very simple questions but for things that I won't be able to answer, I feel that it would be best for him to watch a review of the phone and it's capabilities, and the overall usability of Android.
Also, does anyone know how to change the default time out screen while currently on the lock screen. The lock screen doesn't follow the same time requirements that you set under the Display menu options. I have noticed that, but never have found a way to resolve it.
For clarification, when you power on the phone, you are presented with a lock screen. The time out for this (when the screen turns off) is considerably less then the selected options that you have chosen (I have 30 seconds for screen time out). Is there a way to raise this timeout?

This actually the point of the lockscreen. If you accidentally turn phone on while it's in your pocket, or after a bluetooth or missed phone call, the lockscreen is meant to quickly turn the phone off to conserve power.
Two ways to solve this problem for you. Either install a third party lockscreen software, like widgetlocker, or disable lockscreen completely with something like No Lock.
Hello friends,
I would like to disable/enable HTC Dot View from a Task in Tasker.
The Dot View app has a simple checkbox for that, so I was wondering how to toggle it from Tasker.
I appreciate any suggestions,
Cheers
Addendum:
I haven't provided enough info in the original post so I will clarify things here.
I would like to run a task in Tasker that uses the Left/Right/Tap D-Pad inputs. In order to do that I need to wake-up the phone and then run these inputs since they do not function if the screen is off.
However, since I have the Dot View cover on and closed, when I wake up the phone (using Secure Settings Addon) the Dot View screen is displayed (the same as the one u get when u double tap the cover).
With this screen on D-Pad inputs do not work. I tried killing the Dot View process (also from Secure Settings), but it auto-runs and comes back.
Before the latest update to the Dot View app, I found a workaround that worked 50% of the time.
Killing the Dot View process twice in a row would give me a window of a couple seconds to open the Dot View app and disable it using the Enable/Disable checkbox inside the app. By doing that I can then carry on with my task. Then I would enter the Dot View app again and re-enable it in order to get it back on. This used to work half of the time. For some reason, the killing the Dot View process twice would sometimes give me the chance to open the app and some other times it wouldn't work at all(the screen would auto-start as if killed once). Killing more than two times didn't work either.
Now that the Dot View app has been updated, my 50/50 workaround doesn't work anymore. And since it worked half of the time, it wasn't really a solution.
Therefore, what I am looking for is a way to be able to Kill/Disable Dot View from Tasker without it auto-running again.
Update: I tried to kill the task of Dot View, it worked and it does what I need, but in seconds the app will autorun. I need a way to either disable it (as I said in the 1st post) or to stop from autorunning after I kill it.
I faced this issue almost a month ago and I still can't figure out a solution.
Any insights?
A couple of months ago I figured out a workaroud to disable DotView>run the task>turn it back on.
I started by killing the app then launching and then using AutoInput to tap on the enable/disable box.
This used to work but after the latest update to the dot view up, it no longer works.
It's really frustrating. I hope someone can figured something out.
Thanks
I removed mine all together. If this is the route you all want to take, remove it in root explorer by searching for dotmatrix and deleting it.
Edit: But I'm still on Kit Kat. So don't know what will happen in Lollipop since I won't run that os.

I don't want to remove it. I like it and think it's very practical.
In fact, in the process I mentioned above, I always try to re-enable it after I finish the task.
Anyway, thank you for replying.
Hi,
as you have found, selecting disable in the dot menu only turns off the dot view case recognition.
when i open and close the case nothing happens.
but the dot view process is still running and its the process you need to stop.
looks like its com.htc.dotmatrixevent (from terminal # ps|grep dot)
if i kill it with a task killer it comes straight back again.
i suppose the theory is that if you had to wait for the process to start and program to run each ime you opened the case it would be too slow to be useful.

I have updated the first post with an addendum. I think the original post did not explain clearly what I was trying to do.
This problem is most noticeable when watching YouTube, and I haven't toyed with too many other video apps to determine if it also happens, but while watching videos, the video will randomly pause.
Doesn't matter what brightness the phone is at, the phone isn't too warm when it happens, doesn't matter if I have headphones plugged in or not, etc. And it's not like an accidental screen touch, because touching the screen once shouldn't pause the video, just show the controls.
I've tried a full factory reset of my phone and it's still occurring. Has anyone experienced this or does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting? It's incredibly annoying...
Edit: I should clarify this isn't pausing while buffering - this is acting like someone pressed pause mid-video - on screen controls appear, home button appears, status bar appears, and the "Play" icon to press and continue playing the video.
I have the exact same problem.
Did you manage to resolv it?
I have LG H815 SEA and i'm on stock ROM, because i can't root or install custom ROM
The same thing happens to me. I've figured it out why it happens - and it happens in all full screen apps - bottom home touch screen buttons appear together with top notifications bar for just a split second - if you look you'll see it. That causes youtube app to pause the video, and behaviours are different in other apps. It is really annoying and I haven't found a fix yet.
Same issue here with a brand new LG v20, even happens after I take the case off. No idea what could be the issue. And same with the video being fully loaded, and being on o off Wi-Fi doesn't help . Please someone give us an answer!!!!

I had this problem with a galaxy S4. Try going to Settings -> Apps -> Three dots button on top right -> Show System -> Scroll down to media storage -> Storage -> Then Clear Data.
This seemed to fix it for a while. If there is a single app your particularly have the issue with, try reinstalling that app.
So here is an annoying situation.. Working on the external screen, if I keep it on, and I open (unfold) the screen, I get the home screen of the UI5.0 with a display on the left side, and a blank on the right half. If I turn the screen 90 degress (unfolded) the full screen is then turned. Turning it back will give a full screen in the orientation that gave me half screen only. it does not happen if unfolding the screen is done when the outside screen is in landscape mode.
I tried changing setup, not have apps keep open, and other screen setups. Nothing. I have to turn the screen 90 degrees and back to fix this stupidity?
Anyone else experienced it? Anyone has a fix or knows what cretaes it?
Many thanks in advance and Happy New Year
What app are you using?
I use SCRPY on my Windows PC and got the same "problem".
I just reconnect my phone when i fold/unfold.

I actually do not connect my phone to any device. It happens when I have the outside screen on, and I unfold the phone. It does not ask for any PIN or Finger print, and it opens with half left on and black on the right side as shown on the attached pics. If I now tilt the phone 90 degrees it turns 90, and turn the black side on, then I rotate it back, and all the screen is on. Now if I unfold the phone when the outer screen is off, it wakes up asking for PIN, and touching the fingerprint, will turn the full screen correctly. That rules out a screen problem, butthere is a definition somewhere I may want to change. Can't seem to know how. It is just annoying.. not an epic failure of the phone..
Let's add more info ... I turned the phone into safe mode, and the problem can not be reproduced, so my guess there is an app that cause it. Anyone willing to attempt an guess what app can cause it? Besides regular, reputible apps like Email, Google messeges, Skype, Whatsapp, I use 'led me know' , 'Galaxy MaxHz' , 'Kaspersky'. I checked my running services and nothing in that list makes me think it causes it. Any ideas are welcomed..
Only thing i can think off look under permissions - draw over other apps.
Disable them one by one and check if the problem exists.

Removed 'Led me know' and the problem can not be reproduced. Shame, I like the app.. . Looks like the recent update has some 'fix' to enable the location on the status bar area, and at the same time it broke something for the 'FOLD' 4 folks. I found someone else leave a 5 star review (which if did not brek the fold move from screen the screen, is the right rank) and state just the same observation.. Oh well.
