Volume Increase Hack. - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

On Windows Phone 7 if you use the Diagnosis App you can increase the volume by doing the following:
*#0002*28346#
Click Read,
System Gain: 7 change to 10
Class Gain: 7 change to 10
Device Gain: 7 change to 10
Press Start then Stop.
The volume will instantly be louder you can test by typing in one of the boxes. The only problem is this will be reset upon reboot. Does anyone know how to permanently enable this?

What Phone are you using?

Samsung Focus.

Does not work on the HD7.

Diagnosis: ##634#
*#0002*28345#
*#0002*28346#
Try Both
Try that one instead. You need to do this from Diagnosis.

those are samsung test codes... they will not work on any other brand... they are not wp7 codes... samsung only!

no codes seem to work on the HTC phones. Cept the stupid field test one and some call forwarding crap. Ugh...

should you be able to see the changes after closing diagnosis and opening to view settings again. When I open after changing the settings I see 7,7,7 again instead of 10,10,10.

I did not see a difference, however there was an audible difference. when typing and the phone rings.

Maybe I'm too old, but I didn't hear any difference.

is there a way to extend the Vibration for text?

Silence Ringer
Hmmm, anyone know how to silence the ringer when a call comes in and you just want to "shut the phone up" without declining the call? With my Wizard you can just hit the volume slider, and it'll make the ringer go off.
Thanks for your help in advance.
i don't have mine yet, but did you try the joggr when the call comes in?
Yep tried that.. Even put the JOGGR in volume only mode, and that didn't shut it up either... I know on a lot of other phones you tap the power button to shut it up, but no button's will do it.
I'll keep trying..
Argh, I've still not had any luck in finding a way to shut it up when a call comes in.. *sigh*
I don't think there is a feature to do what you want. Ignore or the end button send it directly to vm as you no doubt have figured out already.
I can touch the volume strip on the dash and it mutes the phone call.
I know, not very helpful, but thought i'd let you know.

Look in the registry around:
\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\
There's a key there called EnableRingVolumeMute
If there isn't, try creating it and setting it to 1. Mine seems to mute the call fine with that setting.
Ringer silencing on Dash
Hitting the "reduce volume" slider on my dash silences the ringer -- no registry hacks needed. Don't know if this works on HTC unit...
El Perfecto!!!!!!! The registry hack worked on the S620.. Apparently it comes with EnableRingVolumeMute set to 0.
Muchas thanks!
This needs to go in a FAQ.
Change JOGGR Outlook key to something else?
Has anyone figured out how to change the JOGGR's launch outlook button (bottom button) to launch something else, say, FlexMail? Even though I have FlexMail set as the default mail program, it still launches Outlook...any ideas?
I hate Outlook email (it does not work well with IMAP, like, it won't delete things unless you resync it manually. Painful!)

Never mind...
Got this from www.smartphonethoughts.com just now:
Well that sure didn't take long. Just 1 day after the Dash hit the streets, akil, staulkor, and some others over at Howard Forums has found a way to change the functionality of the volume jogger on the Dash to include scrolling and launching programs. You'll need to modify the registry to get this to work. So, make sure you back things up before making any changes. Here are the changes you need to make to get this working.
To Enable Scrolling:
• HKCU\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\SwitchToAudioFunc = 0
Tap on Bottom Key Launches IE Mobile:
• HKCU\ControlPanel\JogBar\Settings\BottomKeyApplicationName = \Windows\iexplore.exe
Tap on Top Key Performs Back
• HKCU\ControlPanel\JobBar\Settings\TopKeyApplicationName = BACK
You can replace any these with your favourite applications. Other common applications would be START (to Launch the Start menu), \Windows\tmail.exe to launch Outlook Mobile, or http://www.SmartphoneThoughts.com to launch IE Mobile with your favourite website Wink Let us know how you make out!
Here is a utility I wrote that will let you change almost all of the JOGGR settings on the phone. It will also let you change the apps that launch when you press the Camera key and the T-Zones key. The app shortcuts must be in the shortcut file format because I didn't know enough about the Windows CE LNK format to simply let you pick an EXE.
I am going to add support to let you change the apps that launch from the JOGGR bar, but wanted to get this version out now so you don't have to dig through the registry to get scrolling working.
It requires the .NET CF 2.0 or higher.
Sweet, good job! Will give it a shot.
This would be a good base for a simple DASH/S620 tweak util.. 'Cause there's a couple good tweaks out there as well.
Is there a way to do this on the Dash without having the touch strip/jogger enabled. So basically all I want it to do is silince the ringer.
which compact framework .net am I to install? I tried installing the ARM versions but they refused to install on the Dash.

The version for the ARMV4I is the correct one. Try the installer at http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=0c1b0a88-59e2-4eba-a70e-4cd851c5fcc4&DisplayLang=en. That link will take you to the .NET CF 2 SP1 MSI file.
Works like a charm. Very nice job
I have .NET CF 2.0 spk1 with a T-Mobile DASH.
But still does not work

What doesn't it do? Does it even run?
Basically when I run it it gives an Error.
An unexpected error has occurred in the DashConfig.exe
Select Quit and then restart this program or select Details for more information.
When I hit details:
UnauthorizedAccessException
at System.IO.__Error.WinIOError()
blah blah blah.. basically a whole lot of errors
I would love for this to work..

Confirmation before making a new call

Hi all,
I wanted to ask you if there is any way to get some kind of confirmation before making a new phone call. It happens to me quite often that I tap accidentally on contact in HTC phone dialer (or sometimes it does the same when my PDA wakes up in my pocket) and it will start to dial the number immediately. I like the way how original MS dialer is doing it - it will at least display a window with contact information where you can select between different phone numbers. I know how to change the phone skin to MS dialer, but when using MS dialer sking you are not able to adjust phone volume when call is established.
Do you have any tips and trick how to avoid accidental calls?
Thx!
Why don't you just keep your handset locked?
Long press of call end key

Ok, I will test S2U2 and see if this tool is what I need. Thanks.

Is my phone faulty??

after the last 2 out of 4 calls ive made with this phone the screen freezes at the end and the end call button does not seem to work?
isit a setting i may have changed or should i just go and replace it?
thanks
Is it just a momentary freeze (2 seconds) or it just locks up indefinitely? It's definitely not normal if it locks up just after something as simple as a call. But a mmomentary lag is normal. It's designed so you can have a glance at the call screen perhaps to see how long you talked for. If that annoys you, you can try using Advanced Config to amend the "End Call Delay" setting.
ok thanks ill check the setting, i ended up getting it replaced btw.

disabling notes for phone calls?

I was trying to call an automated voice system up today and was asked to enter my phone number in. I hit the "keypad" button and instead of the keypad opening up the Note application opened up. I had to click on the "ok" button in the top right corner to close that and to get back to the regular keypad so that I might enter my number in.
Is there any way to change this? I had an HTC TyTN II for two years and I never utilized the phone call notes feature on that phone. Given that, I'm very confident I'm never going to be using it on this phone and yet that's what first pops up when I hit the "keypad" button.
Any ideas as to what I can do to fix this?
You can set the phone to open Notes when in a call simply by pulling out the stylus. It is in Phone Settings- Advanced tab.
i understand your concern, occasionally my cheek would open up notes while on a call and type random stuff. I don't find it annoying enough to disable it but at the same time i've never used the notes during a phone call feature.
Dont know if theres a way of disabling it but maybe if u dig around in the register and search for "notes.exe" or whatever the notes app is named u might find something relative.

High Volume warning prompt no longer shows up in Note 10 Plus

Hello!
I noticed that by checking "Disable Absolute Volume" in Developer settings, we no longer get the prompt about hearing at high volumes even after phone restart.
This was not the case when I was using my Note 9. Every time after phone reboots, it would send a prompt and we have to click 'ok' to get to higher volumes.
That is no longer true with Note 10 Plus.

Yay?
You don't have to do anything in developer settings. By default the volume warning is gone.
I thought it was strange that street the September patch I no longer had to do that. Here's to hoping this remains permanent!

Noticed this too and yes... YAY!!!!
I had this problem and was verry enoyed. The solution is in bluettoth setings advance media volume sync. This is the only option that i change for volume limit to get lost. I try anything but only that fix the issues. If you activate the volume option from devloper medya volume sync cant be change.

On the N975U1, the high volume warning was never present. Not on the firmware that it was on out of the box, not on the day one update, and not on the September patch update. No brightness warning either when maxing out the backlight.
I also noticed now, there are two distinct volume sliders(I have my volume controlling media by default) on top of one another.
Im glad they did away with that warning mess!

I disabled the Bluetooth volume sync because the volume steps are to huge, plus the sound is not the same "quality" wise, I don't know why.
I'll using the official Samsung's Sound Assistant to lower the steps.
