Well I am taking back my white evo for the 2nd time now for the screen lifting and the back cover not really fitting right. They are going to let me go through all of them and find a solid one... think I will be getting the black one cuz all the white one have been built ****ty... my question is what hardware version should I get... they have a 0001 but I don't know if that is the old ****ty display? What version is easier to root...0001 0002 0003 0004? What is the deference between the 4...
Thanks

ive never even heard of a 0001, might be a pre release developer version
0004 will probably come with a 2.02 hboot which may cause some problems and you cant use some custom rom cameras
i have a 0003 evo and ive never had a single problem with it, 0002's are also pretty stable
Well I guess I'm not 100% its a 0001. I was told and read somewhere that on the box there was a 001,002,003,or a 004. But now after looking at my box it has a 003 but phone says hardware version 0004.

i would say best overall would be 003, 0002 aint bad either, 0004 bad for rooting, 0001 if it exists, idk, anyway i have a novatek i believe

No offense, i think you have to research a little more lol, first with the 0001 and then the novatek 30 fps, the 30 fps was built into the stock kernal from htc, this is now fixed with the latest updates...both screens have 60 fps, well almost...

No more FPS cap, HTC removed it awhile ago.

if your not looking to root, get an 004, if your looking to root, get a 0002 or 0003 simple as that its your choice

Patience my friends. They don't roll it out to everyone at the same time because if they did it would clog up the servers and then no one would get it. They push it out to a certain amount of devices at a time. Yours will come. Just give it time.
Was wondering if it is even worth it to update hboot, I pre-ordered my evo from best buy so I have a 002 hardware version with white spots on my screen, not willing to trade for a refurbished haha. My hboot version is 0.79 with s-off
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
I would not update hboot. .79 is one of the better hboots imo...plus it isn't hard to mess up your phone by upgrading hboots

Hi guys
I got this Evo 4g but can't root it, I use revolutionary but it says that my hboot 0.99.0001 is not supported!! is there anyway to root it or to upgrade my hboot?
thanks
That is not a HTC evo4g hboot or a shipped firmware that I'm aware of

Think you have the HTC evo shift 4g. If you have a physical keyboard its the HTC evo shift. Might want to head over there
