I got Vision with 2.1 software and with tag E40030. Thats perhaps prototype model.
He have 2.1-update1 and kernel 2.6.29, and baseband version 12.05.20.00P_22.00.00_12_M2.
I cant to s-off with gfree. I try also with goldcard, also with no sucess.
Does any have any idea to upgrade to 2.2 and with what?
Thanks for help.

Why not? =]
How about fastboot, do you have an S-OFF bootloader, are you able to flash recovery, hboot, system, and/or boot from the bootloader? Have you tried the PC10IMG.zip?

2 possibilities
1. Fake chinesse vision
2. Prototype
If you're sure that is original.. keep it as collector edition, buy new one

What version of hboot do you have ?
Would be worth seeing if there's anything worth backing up before losing it !
hboot is "VISION XB MFG
hboot 0.37.1000 (PC0*****)
.
.
May 12 2010"
I tried:
1. flash wwe rom (i got error 171 usb error)
2. with goldcard (error wrong version)
3. with pc10img with wwe rom (i got error lack of heap)
4. tried with gfree (i got error module failed...no such file...)
6. tried with fastboot
any other idea? or any rom? or any procedure?

Wow, MFG (Manufacturing ?) hboot, we need to save that ! Though I guess we don't know for sure if it's compatible with shipping phones.
Sounds like you got a prototype Vision, you may not be able to do much but save it lol
I am seriously considering proposing a trade. I would drop to 2.1 if it meant getting a rare item like that. A dev version of the vision? I'd probably frame it though lol.

I had friends alpharev hboot RUU 1.8 r2 CM7 CM7 r2 installed the system has failed to establish when it comes hboot trying to open because of the HTC says the phone will not turn on the four corners bootloadder exclamation comes only allows you to install RUU ondada error occurs when installing the system please help
I'm not joking when I say I answer this question every day. It's not a dig at you in particular but why don't people get this?
The cm7 r2 partition is too small for a stock Rom. Also the hboot has write protection on it. You must flash the downgrade.img from the alpharev website in fastboot mode (from off, back+power) using fastboot commands THEN RUU
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
So, if you have already made the mistake of running the RUU first and gotten the error 110, can you still just go flash the downgrade.img and then RUU again or do you have to take stronger messures in hand to fix your mistake?
Edit: my friend made the mistake, which means i dont have the device on hand so i can see if thats even possible..
Yes you can, due to the fact that you are still S-OFF because the r2 Hboots by alpharev have an overwrite protection against RUU or OTA.
Yes you can. The only thing is the fastboot screen looks like 4 !!!! instead of the text it usually has, but it still functions
Do not have an opportunity to show a way to fix you happy
How about CWM? Would you be able to access that or has it been replaced or broken in some way?
(you might be able to read between the lines, that I dont know much about this stuff)
No, everything has gone except hboot. Fastboot flash downgrade.img then RUU is the ONLY fix
Sent from my HTC Desire using xda premium
Thx m8's, really appreciate it, I've gone ahead and thumbed all your posts up
4 fastboot commands work well with an exclamation point on the screen is by HTC so I can do with downgrade.img and fastboot commands will open the RUU bootloader then yeah
So, my friend claims he got fastboot working and flashed the downgrader.img only to get a bootloader error 140 when running the RUU. Atm im trying to get him to use an RUU reported to work here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857245&highlight=140. Plz let me know if this is not the right approach.
It just means the RUU he has has too old a hboot version. What RUU is it?

Once you have the downgrade.img flast via fastboot, Maybe the htcdev.com android 2.3 RUU will work as it is unbranded. It works for most branded devices, but I dont know for sure if your Carrier in your location is covered.
The RUU is here:
http://www.htcdev.com/process/legal_download/152
Go there, tick the agree box and proceed. Try to flash that (ONLY after flashing downgrade.img) and see what happens.

Hey guys,
Nearly everybody knows that it sucks to be S-ON, you can't flash custom roms, delete system apps which just take space on your device. An the only way out is to buy a XTC clip. But for what? The Wildfire S isn't a high end device, it costs about 200 euros. And the XTC clip about 80 euros. Thats to much.
Alphax, tried it, without any success. HTC won't tell us anything and HTC Dev.. hmmm, htcdev, who can ask them? NOBODY, I searched for the email adress but no way man.
But now we got a new chance!!
The HBOOT 1.08 is here. With the update to 2.3.5 comes the hboot 1.08. Alphax tried to unlock the hboot 1.03, but now they can try it on the new hboot 1.08. Maybe its easier, may harder. But there's even a new 50% chance for us User.
SO:
Stop trying to hack (unlock) the old bootloader! Start developing with the new. We can get it. I know it!
Good Luck!
Matteo
maybe a chance

Maybe there is a vulnerability waiting for an exploit in the new bootlooder...
WFS is the first and the last phone that I bought from HTC. I really hate htc Samsung at least it is not difficult to crack
I would have been in your group.....but my bootloader didn't get upgraded by the RUU(like some others)....anyway you might be right anything new is not always improved........there might be a chance that an exploit is found in the new HBOOT
Yea, but no one from here is qualified enough to that unfortunately.

You updated the firmware to 2.3.5 but your hboot is still 1.03? Am I right?
Mine is still 0.90 after flashing 2.3.5 RUU..

Maybe HBOOT version depends on how one updated to 2.3.5 ?
I dit FOTA update from HTC and got new HBOOT 1.08. Maybe it's different if you flash the files uploaded in the ROM section.
I also did it with the ruu Rom update. If You want it to flash again I can give you the link. Just write me a message.

Hi all,
After scouring the intertubes for 2 days, I've had to give in and beg for wisdom on this one.
Recently inherited a Desire HD from my wife, factory-reset but loaded with Orange crapware, so I thought I'd crack on and root straight away.
Went for it with the AAHK kit, however it hung at the white screen after restarting, and have had no life out of it ever since. I can still access the HBOOT screen and Bootloader, from which I managed to query the device infor, CID etc, see attached file. HBOOT info is:

I've tried to get the firmware up and running again with various RUU's, with and without the goldcard I've made, and am now at a loss! The RUU will initially look to be working, get some way into the progress bar before returning the error message - 'The ROM Update Utility cannot update your android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.'
As the device can switch on, it's clearly not a brick, just incredibly stuck!
Can anyone help me get this going again, ideally unbranded and rooted?
Thanks in advance!

Ok, the phone is still s-on.
Did you try to run aahk again on the phone?
What system did you use to run aahk on? Maybe try the method with the ubuntu boot cd to rule out any problems with the host computer.
Since the phone is still S-ON you can only install signed images. But the RUU ones should work.
Did you also try to copy the RUU to the SD-Card (adb push "RUU-File" /sdcard/PD98IMG.zip) and boot into hboot?

I presume pushing the RUU to the SD card is the same as copying it and renaming the file? I've literally zero experience of the terminal ocmmands involved.

I know there are a lot of guides on "how to unroot htc desire", I've googled a lot, but I'm really scared to brick my phone.. So.. I'm here to ask your help to be sure to follow the right steps before proceeding..
A friend of mine has recently tried to unroot his phone running a "RUU..someversion..someradio...exe", but now he's stuck with a black screen with alert images on the angles, and since I was on my way to do the same thing, I decided to be really really really sure to do the right thing..
Any suggestions? Any specific guide I can follow?
If you need more info or more details about my phone, just ask (even if you need to know the colour of the phone, if it helps to unroot properly )
additional (maybe useless) info:
- my phone is unbranded
- I'm from ITALY (I guess I'll have to choose some "europe" ruu)
Thanks in advance, best regards

Hi everyone,
I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction on an issue I am experiencing with my G2.
I am not new to flashing roms, etc, but I ran into an issue upgrading my radio to the latest T-mobile version (.30). I followed the instructions correctly and it updated through HBOOT and I restarted the phone. All was fine, I was connected to WiFi, T-mobile's network, and GPS locked on nice and quick. This morning, the Jelly Bean rom I had just installed last night (and tested the new radio with) froze on a black screen. I pulled the battery out and restarted and was unable to connect to the Tmobile network. It says: No Sim Card - No Service.
I've searched and tried everything I could find in the forums with no success. I tried an EFS wipe, reinstall of the rom after a clean wipe, reverting to the old radio version I had, restoring my previous Jelly Bean rom that worked fine with the old radio, and nothing seems to work.
I finally registered here and hope someone can assist me with getting my phone working again.
Thanks!
It sounds like either hardware or firmware, its possible your simcard slot randomly went bad. But before you go and replace it I would do a full partition. Boot to hboot and write down everything on that screen

And then I would flash one of those pc10img.zips I linked you to (post 30)
If you didn't use gfree then unroot and son, then follow the xda wiki to root properly
These steps should fix your problem if its software/firmware
And if it won't fix almost for sure hardware

What method did you use to root and gain soff? If you used gfree then I would use your eng bootloader to change cid

I am pretty sure I followed this method back in 2010. My phone has been s-off and rooted ever since. Am I not truly s-off? I am a bit confused!

Sorry, had to wait 5 minutes to edit the post!
Well I'm questioning if you are being you don't have supercid, this is usually something you would get along with the rooting process. That same post I linked you will tell you how to check, be sure you confirm as you may run into issues otherwise

If I were truly rooted, would I be able to change my CID or not?
Thanks again!
Well rooted is the wrong term, you have an engineering bootloader and so with this you can change cid, but this isn't my concern. There is true radio soff and fake soff, fake soff can cause issues when flashing pc10img.zips,
this is why I would highly recomend checking, like I said the instructions are there. Let me know if you have issues

Sooo...I did not unroot, root, and all that jazz again. I felt risky, installed the pc10img from the link you gave and it worked without a hitch...except it did not fix my sim card issue. I finally had another tmobile phone to test with and it was a dead/fried sim card. I had an extra, had it activated and tada! It worked. I am enjoying the new recovery though compared to CWM.
Thanks again for your time and help!
Well I'm glad it all worked! Yeah it seemed like hardware and I'm glad it was the chip vs the phone!
