Android Market 2.2.6 - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Tried this and it works. I didn't bother backing up the old market. I just downloaded the apk and installed it to replace.
New market looks good but feels a bit laggy.

Market/Facebook problem

Currently running CM7 stable release with the latest Gingerbread radio.
I am having an annoying issue with Downloading and installing apps from the the market in which i have to 'kill' the market once or twice then it will finally download and install, which is really annoying. This only ever happens to me with the latest CM7 whereas I helped my friend update from RC2/3 to the stable build and he doesn't experience this...what could i do?
Second (not so major annoyance) is the Facebook for Android app keeps FCing when i navigate through the app. I can browse my newsfeed without trouble, comment on statuses and such but as soon as i come out from there it instantly FCs!! I am using LPP (latest one) and i am aware that some users were experiencing issues not too different to mine recently, and its got me wondering if it's that?
I've already fully wiped and re installed the ROM and still the problem persists
Maybe a caching issue. Check the md5 sum of the rom you downloaded.
The Facebook app is like that. Because Facebook couldn't be bothered to test, the app FC's most of the time. It is annoying but it will take forever to update it because Facebook is ****. It happens to me btw.

Cool thanks mate! I've gone to using Flow Free on the market which is better anyways. It's ad supported but Adfree FTW?! I don't think there's anything wrong with the file as i used the very same .zip on my friend's phone...
For your market issues, it could be a caching issue. Post in the CM7 thread or have a look through it. You'll prob get a better response.

New Google Market 3.0.26

Hi all,
I have upgraded the Market from version 2.3.6 to the new 3.0.26 with no problems on Archos 101.
Very nice! Thanks!
I upgrade it using arctools..
new market is nice!
Hello,
I have a little problem.
The Market just doesnt wants to get installed it say's : Application is not installed.
I deleted all my Google Apps such as Google Talk,Gmail,...
I used gapps4archos to install the market.
The new Market just got "pushed" to my 101.... Got "pushed" to my Inc a few weeks ago.... I really do not like the new layout!!! The good news is that it seems to be running without any issues.

New market vs Old market

So guys ... what do you think .... which is the best......
Old market is faster and not as crowded.
I reckon the new market will eventually come into its own for the newer generation of smart phones.
eventually................
Before, I could look at my applications/updates in one click from main interface. Now I need 2 screen taps: menus -- > My Applications
Also, from time to time, it reverts to another secondary account: even more taps as I need to change account
It s**ks really, I hate the new market
I think the new market really sucks.......so complicated.......so slow........so grey........
mmmmmmm........i don like it.........
today i encounterd a problem which is common with sgs and new market, that u cant download files over 30mb. that made me revert to old market and now everything works flawless. hate new market
I believe that most of the people hate the new market......
I agree with that. Although it's much better on more powerful phones (sgs2, touchpad) in my experience.
I also have that freaking annoying bug where it swaps to your other google account
New market is crap. Use it to download " OldMarket".
Older version. Loads a lot faster, and not as cluttered IMO...

Old market is better..
Hope word doesn't spreads to Apple trolls
Otherwise another OS war on Tech Sites
I tend to point chrome on my PC to market.android.com when I need to install apps, which means I use the market app once every third month or so. New, old.. all the same to me.

I do not use too often market so for me new one is not too bad and it is not too much slower than old one

Ha Ha. I agree completely
Old market was way better.
Not a fan of those windows phone tiles alike. They never offer anything usefull anyway. Also find it much harder to actually find stuff if i'm going through categories (as opposed to using search directly).
Performance wise, ever since i installed cyanogen 7.1 stable(on a SGS), this improved to nearly lag-free (not including the time it takes to download images). Not sure if it's just cyanogen that's faster or if this is a modified market version, or something else. Used to be really terrible with other roms though.
Simplicity to use still speaks louder and is more than enough to make me want to go back to the "OldMarket".
I've tried both, and I definitely prefer the Old market.
The old market loads a lot quicker, and I've noticed that the new market sometimes hangs when trying to install apps via the phone.
Usually I do the same thing that mickeko does, I'll browse the Market on PC then download the apps to my phone via the PC. Still, its nice to have the best version of the market running on your phone (in my case 2.3.6).
tried both.....the old one is working and the new one is eye candy but extremely slooooooooooooooow

On my Nexus YouTube was preinstalled.. which rom have you got? Normally you should be able to download youtube from the play store... or maybe it is country-specific?
Jellybean from this link has YouTube preinstalled:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737849
YouTube works fine, what I did:
I COPIED THE YOUTUBE.APK FROM MY BACKUP DATA.TAR AND I INSTALLED IT TO MY NEXUS, IT LOOKS DIFFERENT
Here is the Youtube.apk if someone needs it: http://ge.tt/5sdaPnJ/v/0 <--- I'm using it and it works perfectly..
Still though, it's strange that the Play Store says YouTube is not compatible. I'm hoping this get ironed out soon...I like to convert as many system apps as possible into Play Store user apps. This also means you cannot manage YouTube from the web interface on other devices. Same deal with Google Wallet btw.

This is because you are running an OS that is not yet released. Same problem when ICS first came out. We just need to wait until devs update their apps to support Android 4.1

[Q] No apps after updating to jellybam, suggestions?

I recently upgraded to jellybam and noticed it was missing almost everything that I
needed to function with on a day to day basis and this is okay, except for some things.
I already looked allover XDA about this and noticed there really is not much on the topic
so I feel help is needed at this point.
What I am wondering the most is where is the video player...?
Also, the camera layout on jellybean sucks, is there anyway to change this?
Any help is appreciated!! Thank you
Well i guess the rom comes with lesser apps than a rom would from the factory. As for a video player i have super video and i'm sure theres a few other good ones. About the camera layout, i don't think you can change that.
Edit: And i am also running jellybam.
Did you update to a custom rom, or did you update through kies. Either way, when you updated you could have restored your phone through google and all your apps shoudl have re-downloaded onto your phone. if thats not the case, open up your play store, hit the menu button, and tap on my apps. after that you'll see a list of all the apps you've downloaded and you can re-download them.
as far as the camera on jellybean not being great, you could always flash a different camera onto your phone if you are rooted. 4.2 camera is super nice.
and i just started using MX player and its pretty nice. Free and has a lot of codecs.
In a lot of Roms you have to reflash "gapps" search XDA for latest version. It is all the Google apps.

The jellybam rom comes with gapps i think he's talking about some samsung native apps.
If you updated to a stock firmware you should get the GAPPS automatically now if you install a 3rd party ROM like AOKP or CyanogenMod you have to install GAPPS manually just Google it you can find lots of information on it online
