[Q] New Android Market Help! - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have read all the threads concerning the new market and I have tried everything and i can't get it to work (stop force closing)
I am running CyanogenMod 6.1 Stable. I installed the new market when i was on CM Nightly 175 so i'm assuming the problem started there when i flashed CM 6.1 stable.
I have installed a number of different new markets files from the apks to a few zip files and none of them work.
1. I have cleared data and chache in the market, then restarted (nope)
2. I have wiped delvik and cache via Recovery, then installed (nope)
3. I have done a combination of the two...(nope)
Any siggestions? If not, how do i get back to the original market....i'm stuck with a phone with NO APPS!

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the only way I think it can be fixed is be doing a fresh ROM install while wiping data/cache or by restoring a nandoid backup.
Anyone else have better recommendations?

I'm running the latest Virtuous and it did the same thing to me. Ended up doing a restore.

okay so I've resorted to restoring the CM Nightly i was on and everything works (with the new market).
Previously, I tried going back a few restores to when i had the old market, then installing CM 6.1 and when i did there wasn't even a market on my phone! So i'm back to my latest working ROM (CM Nightly 175)
I would really like to get to CM 6.1 stable no matter which market i have (as long as it works)
Any suggestions on how to do this?

okay i think i got it
Instead of doing a fresh install (which i prefer) i just flashed 6.1 over the Nightly. It returned the market to the old one but IT WORKS. I may try to update the market later but i'm content now
thanks for the input

[Q] HTC desire Cyanogen Mod 7 "New Market" Problem

I recently flashed the new Cyanogen mod 7 nightly and The new google apps. As I started to experiment with this rom, I noticed that i cannot download any market apps at all. Whenever i press download, the "downloading" notification would pop up for like a second or two and it would then disappear. Any suggestions on how to fix this?

Did you try to clear data and cache for the market? That might help. It does not seem like a CM7 issue as it is working perfectly here.
Yeah I have tried that actually. Still the same problem..
Wipe all the data including both caches, flash the build and then flash the apps. Things are working fine with the CM7 builds since I use it. Maybe a radio update if your not up to date ish?
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue on my HD2 Typhoon Cyanogen 7. I was able to download apps from the market for about an hour, right after first launch - now (3 hours later), nothing. I don't have the ability to click 'clear cache' for the Market and I can't seem to download from the online market, either. I don't know whether I should try to clean-install Typhoon or switch to another ROM - or if this problem will just 'go away'. If anyone has further advice, or wants any info from my device, please send me a message.
Update: ROM Manager won't do anything, but I'm not too worried about that. Booting while holding 'Power' gets me to the Bootloader, from there I can get to the Clockwork Recovery. I tried 2 fresh wipes of Typhoon CM7 before throwing in the towel. Another ROM installed and I can download anything I want from the Market.
Ditto here. I installed on a full wipe and market is not working. Are you using wifi or 3g?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have the same problem, i tried to solve it doing everything (uninstalling and reinstalling market, full wipe, re-flash the rom) but nothing.
I noticed that every time i re-flash the rom market works for a period but than gets stuck !
- download "zipsigner" from market
- select the new market apk (the one that didn't install and fc's)
- select "platform" as key/mode
- sign the file
the resulting apk can be installed as every apk
cc to c3k
wel then you are one of the lucky ones i have tried wipe cache wipe delvick cache reinstall nothing works

I have your same problem on DHD CyanogenMod 7 RC2 (uninstalling and reinstalling market, full wipe, re-flash the rom) but the Market don't work!
I got the same problem and solved it by simply wiping my device (Desire) again without flashing CM7 (RC1) again.

could you be more specific on 'wiping'? how did you do it? having the same problem here.
EDIT: reflashed rom and wiped data and cache. market is now working.
EDIT AGAIN: market only worked to download GAPPS eg gmail, youtube, google maps etc etc. when tried to download other apps, a prompt comes up saying "the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again."
Hi,
Had the same problem, with cyanogen Mod 7.
First with stock (cyanogen) Market, then even after updating with the new market 2.3.4. Always the same, trying to connect and failure when downloading, no FC at all.
I just solved the problem by flashing again the radio 5.14.05.17 ! (I had this one before flashing Cyanogen and all the other communications were ok, except the market downloads so I didn't think it could come from there ...)
Hope it helps you
I simply solved this problem thanks Titanium Backup that takes back the Market (app+data). Obviusly you had had a backup!
EDIT: doesn't work...after reboot market doesn't exist... I've to rebuild it from TB every time.. that sucks
RE-EDIT: finally works!! I installed it from a backup and then I started it after flashing again gapps(if you don't have a backup you can unzip gapps.zip on pc then move the apk vending to the phone: install it with a file explorer) Then I entered my gmail username and psw(<--- important step) and now it works great! I've made also a reboot to test it.
Solved Problem
After flashing gapps, i had the same problem....
Try a restart - It worked for me!
Yeah, I have the same problem with my freshly installed, latest stable CM (7.0.3-desire). Not all downloads are affected, it's about a third to half of them. If I get the apk file in some other way, installing it works fine. It's just the download from the market server that stops after a second or so (or perhaps never even starts properly).
I've tried to clear market cache, tried rebooting, tried versions 2.3.3 and 2.3.6 of Market app, to no avail.
When you guys say "flash this" or "flash that", does that mean "update"?

i've manage to fix it.
first i backed up my SD card, partition it with ROM Manager, downloaded S2E from the market, check Download Cache, reboot. done. anything and everything can be downloaded now.
I managed to fix with re-flashing CM 7.03 and wiping data. For a couple of days it worked properly. Now from time to time it happens again and the only solution is restarting the phone. Probably I found a similar problem when I tried to install Cut the rope apk from my sd card, CM just did a warm boot. After a several try I restarted my phone and installation worked like a charm. Any thoughts?
what do you mean by using the term "flashing" ?
I am a noob and I am having the same problem too.

[Q] CM7 Issue

I've been following the CM7 nightly builds on my Incredible with no issues at all, I love it.
The problem I've been having is my girlfriend has an incredible as well and wanted to try out CM7. Rooted her phone no problem, installed the free copy of ROM manager (I have the paid, was wondering if maybe thats where the issue was coming into play) and dropped the latest nightly onto her SD Card.
When I install the ROM manually through recovery (wiped both dalvik and cache first) the ROM gets to the CM7 logo and then just sticks there, looping the logo over and over.
I restore the backup of sense, then install the ROM via Rom Manager's "Install ROM from SD Card" option, choose to wipe data and cache and it installs and boots no problem..or so it seems at first.
Even after repeated attempts at installing there are a lot of random issues that I never ran into at all. Every time she'll have a few contacts missing, and the bigger issue - she can't launch Facebook or any apps that have Facebook (Tweetdeck etc) they just force close instantly. Many other apps seem to just force close at random as well.
I installed CM6.1 just to see if it had any similar issues but it went smooth. I've run out of ideas so any suggestions would be appreciated.
Once it boots up, go into rom manager and fix permissions.

First, how long did was the boot animation going for CM7? My first install of CM7 took anywhere between 5-10 minutes of the logo looping (shocked the mess out of me cuz I never sat so long for a load). Maybe giving another nightly a try and waiting out the initial boot will resolve all issues. Personally, I flash rom's manually and have had little to no issues.
Second, maybe this was a specific nightly issue. I was running nightly #31 then switched to #36 and both ran perfectly. Try reflashing the rom and wiping everything again. Also, if your contacts ARE NOT stored under her gmail account this may be the reason you observe missing contact. All her contacts linked to her gmail should instantly reinstall each time you flash a rom/nightly/etc.
Did this help?

Internet browser crashing every 3 minutes on CM10 and how to OTA update?

Sorry I have two questions - I am new to the ROM deal and have tried for, literally, hours to figure this out. I installed CM10 stable and my browser would crash every 3 minutes while using it. Thus, I downloaded the OTA and installed that and the same deal happened.
Is there any fix to getting the browser working right? I've tried Chrome too - same deal.
Also, for OTA updates, nightlies etc, do I have to wipe davlik and cache, just davlik or cache, or neither? I've heard conflicting stuff. I've already backed up apps and certain system stuff on titanium backup. I have TWRP installed, I don't think I am using clockwork even that I had flashed that too. When I go into recovery it shows TWRP.
Thanks
Browser crashes seem to be common on most Android devices since last Saturday:

I have the same problem.

Google Play Services issues

I like to switch up ROMs a lot, going back and forth between Sense ROMs and sometimes to AOSP/CM-based ones. Typically, I wipe everything and install from a fresh download, check MD5s, etc. I don't back up and restore apps with Titanium Backup either.
Today I reflashed Team Ecliptic Revamped v3. It booted fine, etc. I reinstalled a lot of apps fresh from the Play Store and set everything up, logging into the usual Facebook, Twitter, eBay, etc.
Then at some point I wanted to get Xposed installed along with some modules and had to reboot. When I did, everything I'd installed from the Play Store was gone. l tried to update Google Play Services but it wouldn't allow it. I cleared data from anything/everything that I thought could be involved, but that did no good. Then I tried removing my Google account and reinstating it. Now it wouldn't allow me to log into Google at all.
I had no choice but to restore a Nandroid of another ROM.
Then I tried flashing the port of the OnePlus CM version (v2), which ran great for me a week or two ago. All of the above happened again.
What am I missing here? I'd be grateful for any suggestions.
p.s. Is it just me or are the custom recoveries acting screwy lately? I have the darndest time getting the latest TWRP (MDMower's 2.7.1.3-beta) to flash anything, and the latest Philz I could find for M7VZW, which I think goes back to early July, isn't much better.

TWRP updated today to 2.8 (http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7vzw)
as for playstore, i havent heard of this before. Try the new TWRP and do a full wipe and report back and i will try to troubleshoot with you.
I installed the new TWRP version but it makes no difference. I reflashed One Plus CM 11 as a test. It flashed fine, ran great, and then I rebooted for Xposed and... boom. Same problem. Maybe I need to RUU and start fresh?

CM13 Update, setup wizard problem

Hello everyone,
So I installed CM13 as an update from 12.1 but it was stuck on the boot logo, then it counts up the updates, then does the same thing again in an endless loop.
I decided to do a clean install, so I wiped cache, system and data and installed CM13, then I installed Gapps6 stock with the exclusion of some general apps I can get from Play store, since installing stock without excludes renders error 70
Anyway, everything went well, but on the wizard setup I was expecting to see Google ask me to import apps from specific devices that was used on specific dates. But all I got was the NFC restore method.
What did I miss here? and what can I do to get to restore all my setting from before I updated the phone?
I know that option existed in Lollipop, as I have used the option when I clean installed CM12.1 many times.
Thanks all
I have heard, but have not yet tested, that you need to delete the cmsetupidwizard (or whatever it's named) before the initial boot.
