Hi all,
I have a 2011 335xi w/ iDrive that I paired my Sprint/HTC Evo 4G to (running Android 2.2 w/ latest patches). My phone connects fine and transfers contacts and all but randomly during calls will disconnect and the sound goes back to the phone. In order to get it back working, I have to turn off and on my bluetooth a couple times (on the phone) then go back into the telephone screen, try connecting a couple times and eventually it works. It's so frustrating as this can happen like 3 or 4 times during a one hour drive and seems like more of a distraction to me as the driver than a way to avoid distractions (not so hands free when I am switching on/off bt). Any ideas? Thanks.

Lol, I only mentioned the car model and year because people familiar with BMW would want to know that since the iDrive gets updated all the time. I have a September 2010 build too if anyone wants to know (so fall update is included...guessing the issue isn't on the car's end).
Haha... I know dood. Like I said... just wanted to do that.

yup, all good
Got the same issue here with 2011 328. I've read on some other forums people are having these BT issues with other vehicles and various ROMs. I have not been able to find a solution yet.

I def know I never had wifi on, which seems to be the most common response on that thread. I haven't tried to hard reset yet, no time to reload all my apps and such (although contacts just sync). If you do figure it out, let me know. Things went well after the recent update to the stock rom, but now they are worse than ever...its not even really connecting, and I've tried completely removing and re-pairing the phone, changing the phone name, turning bluetooth audio off and just keeping phone connection, etc, idk what else to do, very frustrating phone.
Did you try to use the phone without ANY of your apps, bone stock? My friend had a similiar problem in an 11' S4 and we finally figured that the problem was with one of his apps, he tried goin stock and it would be fine, but when he restored all his apps using TB it would do the same. The last thing i could think about is that the BT is somehow going in to sleep mode, try having the power plugged in in the car if you haven't done so already.

Hey, I haven't had much time to hard reset my phone and reload things, but that may be my last resort. Do you know by any chance which App was causing the problems for your friend? I tried using the phone plugged in but no luck either.

UPDATE
I have flashed back to the STOCK ROM, plugged in my wired headphones and it doesn't present that problem anymore.
I guess it was the rooting method that caused that error to happen
--------------------
I've went through all of the threads that have headphones jack problems, but none of them seemed to match mine.
Every time I plug in my wired headphones and try to select a music player, the program will freeze for about 15 seconds, then it'll start responding again. About 2 seconds after it responds, the headset icon appears and I am able to listen to music. I haven't experienced any random fast forwarding, skipping, pausing, etc.
The ONLY problem AS OF NOW is that the phone freezes or when I select ANY music player when either its the default player, doubletwist, btunes, mixzing (when home) it DOES NOT respond until about 15 seconds, then shows the headset jack icon. Why doesn't it automatically show the headset icon once plugged in? & Why does the phone freeze? Can anyone help me with this problem?
I haven't tried connecting my phone to the auxilary in my car yet, but if there are any problems with that, I will post it.
PS: I've FULLY ROOTED my phone using this method -- http://bit.ly/b36V9j with NO CUSTOM ROMS INSTALLED. Root ONLY.
reflash to stock and try it
I feel like if I reflash to stock and that doesn't solve the problem, it would've been a waste of time. But, if you don't mind, can you point me in the direction of the stock rom please?
HTC Evo ROMs
it might be good, actually - if the problem still occurs then you can return/exchange the device. if the problem does not occur, then you know what the problem was.

This fix is somewhat different than your issue because it involves skipping, etc. However if you don't have success with different headphones and after a factory reset, I would say review this link: http://androidforums.com/htc-evo-4g/98880-fixed-microphone-jack-problem.html

There's no way im going to BEND anything on my phone.
I will flash back to the stock ROM, see if the problem persists, if so, then I know it may be a hardware issue. Might be forced to return if that is the case.

Just a thought - do you have a skin/case that could be interfering with the headphone plug seating all the way in?

No, the phone is naked. I'll be getting home shortly. I will flash back to stock and see if this corrects the problem.
ive had this problem as well, on the rom you get after using simple root. I just upgraded to froyo today (dual booting) and have not had the issue..
PS. froyo is a thousand times faster
If you still have the issue after flashing back to stock, try some headphones or a cable for your aux in that has gold ends. I've had nothing but problems with every cable I've used that didn't have gold ends.. but my new cable I bought for $7 that does have gold ends has worked perfectly.

I just read that the cameras do not work. I don't think I can flash to that ROM. I want a ROM that is blazing fast, has excellent battery life, has cameras working and apps with no problems.
Bumped for update.
ok, i am really hoping someone can help me out here. so ever since froyo came out i have been having weird call problems, i will be on a phone call and randomly it will mute me. the mute button won't be activated and the only way to fix the problem is to toggle the speakerphone on/off. now i have tried several roms (syndicate, bonsai, ace) and they all have the same problem. i recently tried ace and it worked fine for a couple of days and then suddenly it did it this morning. i have also swapped out my phone and it still does it!
some people suggested playing with the voodoo sound options and none seemed to work.
if anyone has had this issue or knows of things i could try i would appreciate it extremely. this problem is driving me insane (along with all my friends who it constantly happens to while on the phone with me.)
thanks!
Moved to Q&A.
It could be a manufacturer defect? Does it happen on stock?

Only for about a day. I could try it longer. Wouldn't swapping the phone like I did cover a phone defect though?
This use to happen to me back on the DK28 build even DI18 I think but haven't seen it since official EB13 and even on EC05 now. That's weird. Did it start all of a sudden or has it been an ongoing problem? When did you get your phone? Oh wow you said it's a new one? Refurbished? WHen you got your new phone did you restore a backup from your old phone or start fresh?

i started fresh, except for a couple apps i restored settings for. but i didn't restore any system stuff. this happened right after froyo update for me. at first i thought it was a voodoo thin, but ive tried genocide with the updated voodoo, plus how can i be the only one having this problem. it makes no sense to me.
i guess i could try stock, but i mean i really don't want to run stock....ugh.
---oh new phone was straight from sprint about a week ago.
This is happening to me as well. I'm stock rooted froyo with all stock apps still in place. Very annoying. I never had this issue before the froyo update.
Anyone know of a fix for this yet?
I'm about to take a B.F.H. and "fix" the phone. My epic is doing this on every call I recieve or make.
Anyone have any ideas? I can't deal with this much longer. Really want to smash the phone. Guess I'll unroot and take it into bb or sprint...

yeah i got a new phone and it made no difference. good luck though!
FYI, I'm on stock SGN 4.0.2
there is no way I can turn the bluetooth on, it seems like it didn't turn off properly,
This is happening after connecting to the car, mki9000 , but not always, so I could not be able to replicate it yet. The only solution I have found is to restart the phone.
Actually the Bluetooth settings seems to be unresponsive, like waiting for a never coming force close.
Have to say though that sometimes it does not connect automatically to the car, others it seems to be connected but it's not.
I'm starting to figure that it could be the way parrot and the phone disconnect. I guess of course, this is a software mistake, so I hope it has easy solution.
Any guess?
I am having the same issue. Glad to know that you've shortlisted to the fact that it always happen when paired/unpaired with the car. Now looking back when I had this issue, I think that's when it normally happens.
I hope someone figures something out for this or I might have to try another ROM.
I'm running Galaxy Nexus on Fido network in Canada (GSM) with 4.0.1 Stock.
Thanks for starting this thread.

ok, this is it!
if you never turn on Airplane Mode (after you reboot of course) it will work flawlessly,
I have heard it could be a radio problem, interfering with Airplane Mode, and its correct, no issues after a few days,
i have also heard, the 4.0.5 OTA will have a new radio.
Thanks
I was hoping this would be fixed in the 4.4.2 update but it appears to still be there. While listening to anything in my vehicle with bluetooth A2DP the audio seems to cutout, like a bad connection. The song continues to play and sometimes I see the information on the radio screen disappear, as if the phone lost connection.
This happens no matter where I place the phone. Normally it sits in the storage pocket just below the radio but also happens in the mount on my dashboard as well as my center console.
It seems to happen less often if I plug in the charger, and even less if I force the screen to stay awake. I have not had this issue with my Sensation 4G or my Galaxy S3.
Any help is appreciated.

I have tried every combination of different settings and the only thing that seems to help, although does not resolve altogether, is to plug in the charger and tell the screen to stay on during charging. May be something related to the sleep mode putting the CPU at too low of a minimum.
I am looking at other stereos for my vehicle as it may be an issue with the stereo just not being fully compatible with the newer bluetooth version on the Note 3. I need to test this to be sure.
I have the same issue. My screen is always on and charging but it still stutters on occasion. I used to have the HTC One and it had the same issue. I don't think there is a fix except to try a custom rom.

I have the older 300BTX. One thing that you made me realize is that on 4.3 I was running leankernel the whole time, and with KitKat I was running the stock kernel until this morning.
Going to the gym in an hour and I'll test the bluetooth today to see if switching kernels fixes the issue.
*EDIT*
Didn't skip on me at all on the way home today. This leads me to believe that your skipping problem is kernel-related. Give leankernel a try and let us know if that fixed it for you too?
I was just going to post the same as Kalm. I tried the new v2.0 of LeanKernel and no stutter. Also my Bluetooth MAP is working consistently again with my Ford Sync system. I played about 20mins of music on my Jawbone Jambox with no stutter also.
think this is something specific to a chip. I can stream pandora with pandora control and stream pandora and music over str8 bluetooth via hondalink with no issue.
I think I am going to wait and see what happens when I upgrade to the S5 in a few weeks. If the problem persists I will probably start looking at new head units for my vehicle. I am already eyeing the Pioneer AppRadio 3 LOL

I have the same issue sometimes, I've read around the web and it seems to be a mix of software and hardware related, I read a guy suggest removing and putting back the case (in case you have one) and I did that and the sound came back, haven't had the issue again.

Hmm, I keep mine out of a case,.. Yeah I'm not sure what it is, it's a 50/50 between some say software and some say hardware. I would asume that software would of been fixed by now, either Samsung or 3rd party
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G891A using Tapatalk
So I found a solution for the issue in my case, it does seem to be software but it's really weird cause the issue continues in any firmware, it started when I was on 6.0.1 PI2, then I flashed Nougat and had the same problem (I hated it and battery drain was killing me) I went back to 6.0 and changed to the PK2 version and the issue continued, it was really weird cause it would cut out in audio messages, games but not music, I also tried every single suggestion on every forum and post I could find EXCEPT the Soundabout app, today I gave up, installed soundabout, selected media to speakers and bam, problem solved, I still need further testing, but it seems ok for now, keep in mind that I also have "prevent USB audio routing" on and "Easy Mute" off.
