TouchXperience on wp7!!?!?! (video) - Windows Phone 7 Development and Hacking

enjoy!!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_FEcG0kx7_0&feature=player_embedded

Really nice. Can it toggle between tile view and your view?

Seriously? This vaporware isn't dead yet?

Geez... I hope this isn't real. Terrible.

Dead horses will be flogged. No one buying a WP7 will want this otherwise they would have brough an Android phone.

WP7S promotional video shows HD2!?

Is this HD2 or not, seems like HD2 when the kid is playing Xbox live games?
Video:

dont know, but for me it really looks like a HD2, but not only the handy of that kid, watch 0:35, dads handy looks like a HD2 too, cause u see the same camera xD
but yea, it just looks like
I think the hardware props used in the commercial are pretty inconsequential. HD2 probably just looks good on camera, so they used it.
That commercial really sucks though. MS better be trying to make better and more affective commercials than Apple. If WP7S is such a different phone, then turn down the background music and have someone explain how great and different it is! That commercial didn't make windows phone look appealing whatsoever
Yeah Microsoft really just needs to show the phone's UI and show what all the hubs can do in commercials.
Also I think it would be funny if they did a commercial saying there's a phone for that. Need to take high resolution picture? There's a phone for that. Need a keyboard to type faster? There's a phone for that. What a large screen with big text for easy reading? There's a phone for that!
@Kloc lmao.
pretty neat feature how the screen is projected into thin air. kinda like a hologram thing. thats really the only benefit im seeing that WP7 has to offer over other phones and OSs available today.
but on a more serious note...
WhyBe... i completely agree with you about the commercial. the iphones greatest selling point is the huge amount of apps available for it. so thats the main spear in their marketing campaign... an iphone ad is pretty much just an appstore ad - mainly speaking of TV commercials.
this commercial for WP7 has little-to-no information about the OS/features that distinguish it from other smart phones (and some non-smart phones) currently available.
It looks nice... But it doesn't look like the HD2 I own...
Anyone has pink glasses, maybe i'll see it then?

CES Live Stream

Hey guys,
http://www.facebook.com/Microsoft?v=app_143254022397124
there's a link for Microsoft's CES live stream, currently happening. you have to "like" the page on facebook, but hopefully there'll be some WP7 devices or features announced.
the WP7 woman on now is so enthusiastic it hurts my soul
Well that was crap. No new devices announced, only stuff we knew about the updates and a basic tour of features.
Laaaame.
Not a single new thing shown for wp7... we aren't getting that update anytime this week or next week for that matter....
she did some copy & paste
other stuff like introducing WP7 at its launch
what's their problem?
no update announce?
now Baldmer is blah blah-ing about their Windows team
nothing new.. what a non-event ces
ended
what we have?
I think nothing
is tal all?
i mean are there anymore presentations of MS on CES tomorrow or day after?

I bet when a update finally comes, it will as a damper as this CES event.. like just a small copy/paste update... nothing else.
I'm extremely disappointed with todays presentation. No update was officially announced and they only addressed two future features. And is it just me or was that girl TOO energetic? I love WP7 but this is pretty damn upsetting. If we don't get some big updates soon I'm going back to BlackBerry. Definitely not jumping onto the trashy Android bandwagon or the overdone iPhone crowd. Back to BlackBerry for me if MS don't give us something good...

too bad for me as well, and yeah, that girl was like the first time shake hand with BalDmer and 1st time play with the phone, she should have that presentation at Wp7 launch, not now

Where can I go to watch the CES video again?
I'm not sure, but it's reeeeaaaally not worth it
WP Central have the entire video, nothing new in it though, the over excited, rather thin lady is entertaining if you like that sort of thing.
Almost as bad as last years CES keynote. Absolutely nothing of worth to show.
I was hoping for a WP7 tablet....
Or Silverlight on Xbox 360....
Or app store on Windows/Xbox 360......

We Love WP7 Fan-Made Ad

Not sure if everyone has seen this awesome fan-made video ad...However, in case you haven't, you must:
I wish my Samsung Omina 7 could do that, perhaps it could be called Disco Mode?
Awesome ad. would appeal to a younger market share I reckon.
Casey
sick ad! great for all wp7 future users

I love my wp7!

Just to detract from all the hater posts on here lately, I just wanted to say that I just came onboard from android and, aside from the lack of good games, I really do love my wp7.
I have been extremely happy so far!
Which phone did you go with?
I played with the HTC Surround (what was HTC thinking?) with Mango on it and it was nice. Can't wait til I get one.
I traded my HTC incredible s for an lg quantum and haven't looked back!
nice and welcome! have had my focus for over a year now, and enjoy it every day I've had. which is pretty remarkable since people get bored of phones so quickly.

The focus is a beautiful phone, I do love my physical keyboard.though.
It is seriously a welcome change, I love metro ui
Another happy WP7 user. All it takes is for people to use one in a context of owning it and they will be hooked. By the way, there are some excellent games. You just have to browse through them. You can try many of them that are paid. I have a large selection in my collection and can list them for you if you need.

I would appreciate that!
What i miss the most is a good first person shooter
I can live with the lack of games though, everything else makes it totally worthwhile imo..
Never any lag, and I don't feel like I need to constantly flash or tweak my device.
Makes me much more productive in other areas of my life hahah

A FPS will come eventually. But the closest right now is The Harvest or Assassin's Creed. There's a new one I just saw called Fusion: Sentient that looks promising.
Anyway, here's what I enjoy and these are pretty much top quality. I'm super casual gamer and most of them will be super simple so keep that in mind.

I've had my HTC trophy since it came out in the spring/summer on vzw. i had a droid x before, and I don't miss android. Every month I would have to flash my phone so it would be fast again. Not needed with wp7. I love the OS, but the phone could have better specs.

Welcome on board!
I would recommend pro evo soccer but then I guess football isn't everyone's taste would be good to see some other sports games, I think baseball could cross to phone really well and cricket. Could also do American football and rugby in a similar way to pes could use swipe controls for kicks and scrums etc to add extra elements.
Ps welcome onboard I to came from android and love it. Android still has a place in my heart but more in tablets now. =)
+1 for Flowerz.
It is a challenging game if you put your time in it

It can be. I usually play to about the 10th level and then restart. I like it up to the 10th level. After that it becomes a pain and un-fun.
Finally a thread without bad karma getting quite rare now...
And welcome to WP7 Apps that I recommend:
AccuWeather - has the best LiveTile for weather right now
kik/whatsapp
weave - good news app
LazyTube - best youtube app
TuneIn Radio - best radio app with background streaming
Appflow - quite a must have
CocktailFlow - very nice app for making cocktails
imdb - for movies, obviously
for games:
Arcane's TD Free
Chicken Story Plus
Broken Wing Plus
Bobble Biker
FastBall 2
Jewel³
Krashlander Free
Monster Stack
Square Off Free - very nice one
Pulse, best news app ever. Best live tiles too.
Lazytube is ok.
I can't recommend a game yet.

Pulse has a live tile? I know it has background updates.
I've just spent 11 hours on fusion: sentinels. It is everything a cellphone game should be and its integration with my 360 is amazing. Highly recommended.
hey guys
I love WP7
I own one from 27/12/2010 omnia 7;;
until now and I love it
But a little disappointed with the new devices..
I was waiting something big from Samsung here in Europa but still nothing
IM going to give my omnia 7 to my gf she is crazy about it
but i dont know what is next for me ..

Apollo and beyond......

Welcome all, just wanting to discuss some future plans after Apollo. As we know Apollo will definitely bring us up to speed with our competitors.
After Apollo is where MS must prevail bringing new intuitive hardware and software to Windows Phone. MS is going to have to be trend setters in the future to pursue the competition. It will be no more keeping up with the competition but exceeding the competition.
In what ways can MS push Windows Phone past the competition with intuitive hardware and software?
I will compile a list of everbodys ideas in this first post
My ideas
*Kinect gestures and speech as what they are bringing to the laptops.
*Wireless charging (beleivie Nokia is already working on this)
*Solar charging
Nicksti:
#1 More handset choices. For example, rumours are the SGS3 and the iPhone will be waterproof. Fujitsu makes a waterproof WP but it is not available globally. More choices like FFC, keyboards, bigger storage capacities, colours.
#2 More apps especially games.
#3 Improved notifications. Just throwing something out there, but maybe in style of the Windows Phone "get in get out" they should build a notification center which operates on the lock screen? I find it a little tedious to unlock my phone in order to interact with the notification center.

some of the stuff you state I beleive will be coming, but what would be groundbreaking hardware/software that will catapult WP to the head of the game? Anroid made FFC and multi core a popular thing and peple look for that. What can WP implement to do the same?

Ecosystem and Integration is WP's thing. Speed, reliability and 'it just works' - on the side.
i wish a docking screen for my windows phone.
as we know, windows 8 will have tiles, and a desktop (win7 like) app.
so i have my mobile phone with wp8, dual core and 1gb ram. at home i connect my smartphone on a dockingstation/multimediastation, which turns my phone into a laptop or desktop pc.
similar like the motorola atrix:
http://techfokus.de/blog/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/motorola-atrix-2-lapdock-100.jpg
in short:
* docking my smartphone to a fully windows laptop*
Surprized no one mentioned Landscape startscreen when phone is turned.

Aside from #3, all of those things have/are being done and as far as hardware is concerned are beyond the controll of MS aside from them making their own handsets. I find it funny that while it is rumored that an iPhone is gonna be doing XXX, MS/Partners are already quietly doing it, and when feature XXX releases on an iPhone the reaction will be 'OMG is so NEW and REVOLUTIONARY!"

Trust me, I laugh about that constantly. Or in the iCamp it can take a worse turn. A feature seems unnecessary until the iPhone gets it. Adobe Flash is not necessary, neither is removeable memory, or a radio. Megapixels did not matter until the iPhone got with it. Neither did a FFC.

Actually saw the support for start screen landscape in the leaked video of wp8 Apollo. Not sure if the video is still up. I haven't seen it in any articles, just the video.
