I Flashed my Bell Desire Z with Cyamogenmod 6.1 and now I am no longer receiving voicemail notifications...
I checked the settings and my voicemail gateway is ok, and my phone number is entered... Do I need other settings ?
Thanks for your reply
I would check the Cyanogen thread on the G2 side for this - e.g. search in it for "voicemail", and then if there's nothing there post up on it. There are a lot of people running Cyanogen over there.
Already posted on cyanogen forum ...
No one has this problem?
I have it on my stock Desire Z. Figured it was a setting on my carrier's end, have them trying to fix it.

If no one else is havig a bad problem, then maybe it was just a bad flash. Do a nandroid back-up, wipe and re-flash. If that doesn't work, then maybe you need to try another ROM.
I thought in general flashing custom roms breaks visual voicemail? I jailbroke my iPhone and I lost functionality and after flashing any rom on android
I am on rogers with CM6.1.1 and dont get VM notification either!
I'm on cynogen gingerbread and I get voicemail I hate the notification I never check it

I haven't tried a custom ROM yet but when I get voicemail Bell also sends me a text. Do you not get these? That would suffice as a notification of voicemail.

Hey Everyone... Just wondering if anyone has had any luck solving this? I am with Bell and ever since I flashed any Gingerbread ROM, I don't get the SMS or Voicemail icon notification.
You HAVE to set up your voicemail. I know that whether you're using goodliest voice or not, you have to set up your voicemail. Either go into google voice, or into the phone settings and do that.

I have the same problem. I reverted back to my stock rom back up to get the voicemail number. I set it in my call settings and the 1 button leads to my voicemail but I get no notifications.

I just wanted to post that I receive voicemail notifications with the new "test" HTC Sense rom that was released on here a few days ago, but still no voicemail notifications if I'm running any "Stock" build of gingerbread such as CyanogenMod 7.
What voicemail? From carrier? Visual or Google voice?

Regular carrier voicemail on Bell Canada. The thread has people saying the same thing about Rogers as well.
I am not talking about Visual or Google Voice (we dont have this in Canada yet).

Same issue after I went from stock to CM7 on Bell.
found this thead via google when I was trying to fix my issues (on a Desire).
I found that under settings/call settings/voicemail "My carrier" was listed under voicemail service, however when I opened the drop down, it wasnt selected.
Hope this is of some help to someone else.
i get the "text message" notification for my voicemails on cm7 without my voicemail number setup in settings. once i put my vm num in i can long press 1 to go to my box. i am on cm nightly 185 on rogers canada.
ps ive never seen a voicemail icon, nor do i need one since i get text alerts...

I am running salvage mod 1.1 after switching from a sense rom. I set up Google voice and thought everything was going fine. Well I received a couple voicemails and they keep trying to go to my sprint voicemail. I tried to delete Google voice and reinstall and it still wouldn't work. Any suggestions?

Not trying to be an ass but try posting this question in this thread!
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=881557
The reason I'm saying this is because you have a better chance of someone answering your question then if you post it here where you have people with all sorts of different roms installed........BECAUSE it might be a problem with your ROM not Google Voice......hope you fix your problem soon!
When you reset it, did you set your voice mail carrier to google voice, and call that number it tells you to?

Glad I could be of help.
Has anyone noticed lately that when you log in to google voice, it doesn't give the option to skip voice mail setup? Any way around this?
Huh? I only get asked when flashing a fresh rom

I usually sign in and out of google voice on a daily basis. It used to offer a "Skip" button when I would get to where it asks for the voicemail setup. Not seeing that option any longer. It's not a big deal or anything.. just requires me to go into settings and switch my voicemail options back over to my carrier.
I'm getting notifications in the notification bar saying there is an update available for Sprint Visual Voicemail. I go to download the update and no matter what rom I am on there is a package parsing error. How do I fix this?

If you aren't on a stock rom (rooted or unrooted) you will get the parsing error, I learned this the hard way. You could also look for the updated apk for it, but will end up getting texts about new voicemails. Unless you plan on be forced to like handcent good luck on figuring out how to stop the texts.

It's not worth the update... All it does is change the layout of voicemails a little and force a brought background.
I absolutely abhor bright backgrounds!

True... That would have been smart! Lol
I'm going to downgrade to the old version anyway, because the new version really only makes the solicitation for Sprint transcription larger and more in-your-face. There's not even a button to hide the ad anymore!

What don't you give Google Voice a try for voicemail. It is soo much better IMO.

Actually you don't need to use Handcent to ignore the texts. Just get an app like Super Private Conversation, There are others too I just use that one and have for years because it works. It allows you to block Numbers and send them to a separate call log or delete them all together. The best feature is I can use whatever text App I want.
I did the switch to google ... but I found that if you dont check the settings it sets the reject calls and makes you press 1 too accept the call ... otherwise it goes directly too voice mail and is supposed too act like a call screening feature ... which was driving me nutso ... and I dont remember seeing anything about that setting when setting up the google voice .. the only thing I remember was it said this will erase all your
sprint vm's
Google Voice for Voicemail issues
Hey all-
I am running Blazer Rom ICS build on my Samsung, and ever since I update to it I both:
1) keep getting the Sprint Voicemail update notification.
& worse,
2) can't use Google Voice for my voicemail. Google Voice used to lead you through a step-by-step installation process where you could choose it as your voicemail and you dialed a special #. Can you still do this? Does anyone know the # you need to dial?
Thanks,
Mike
Where is this post going? And to the OP, you're welcome.

I can, but the icon is still there
Call in to your voice mail on the dialer and delete the voice message. Press 7 while listening to the voice message. Once done then set up your preferred voice mail app. I use Google voice

I had this issue on the Galaxy S3 when I first got it with a phantom voicemail icon that never went away despite not having any voicemails. I solved it by getting someone to leave me another voicemail and then deleting it. Might work for you as well.
After disabling it as suggested before, reboot your phone.

Same thing happened on the s3. Call yourself from a different phone and leave a message then delete it from your phone.

Can't leave myself voicemail because I don't have voicemail activated.
Did try the reboot after disabling voicemail, still there.

You need to activate it and do the above, that's the only way.

Well if it's the visual voicemail notification that you're trying to make go away, then long press it in notification, and go to app info, and uncheck notifications. If it's the regular voicemail icon, I would say do the same, but looks like on stock that's tied to the phone.apk and stock doesn't seem to let you disable the notification. I'm not 100% sure on this but I think you can uncheck notifications on CM. Otherwise, yeah just setup voicemail leave a message, and then delete it.
I've tried the above method with no results? Anyone have any other ideas thanks ahead .
[edit] I've put this in the wrong spot I have an e4gt I would think the fix would be the same but I can't figure out how to delete my post sorry folks
clear phone data
on galaxy s7 edge with android 6.0 if you hold the notification until you get to "App Notification" then click on the "i" icon, once in the application info select storage. finally clear data
Root the phone and remove the app from your system......
Has anyone taken a look at porting the HTC Visual Voice mail that's included with the AT&T M8 to T-Mobile? I'd love to have an integrated Visual Voice mail over having a separate app.
+1... Either that or has anyone figured out how to get the Google Voice voicemail notifications to display/be listened to from within the stock phone app? (i.e when you go into the Google Voice app's settings and check the option to "View and play voicemails from the phone call log")

From what I've heard Google Voice will never because it uses the stock phone app to integrate with, so I'm thinking our best luck would be this built-in voicemail :-/
You can download the tmobile visual voicemail apk

Sorry about that. I totally missed that part of the sentence. It would be nice though hate having to download an app just to be able to see my voicemail.
