Hi everyone,
Asking for a relative who is interested in the G2:
Is it possible to sync the e-mail client on the G2 with Novell Groupwise? Her workplace uses Groupwise for e-mail, calendering, contact functions and to my knowledge, there's only one non-Novell app on the market that will allow Groupwise to sync calendar/contacts (but not e-mail) with the G2: Companionlink. Unfortunately that's pretty pricey at $69.99. And it doesn't include e-mail.
I know Novell makes the Novell Data Synchronizer Mobility Pack, but that needs to be implemented on the server side, so I was hoping there was something else out there that might sync Groupwise e-mail with the G2's e-mail client.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

At my job, our company emails are setup through an exchange server, and they only allow company computers to sync with it directly. They do have a website setup for Outlook Web Access so we can view contacts, email, the calendar, etc. through a webpage, but I would rather have my calendar and emails through the TF3D interface instead of logging into a website. This great little program called Chronobis allows me to sync the calendar, tasks, and contacts through the OWA website. There's also a new beta just released that allows you to receive email. It doesn't support sending email as of yet. It's a nice option for those in the same predicament as me.
great thanks
thank you so much
this is exactly what i needed
How did you get it working?

Can anyone give me some instruction on how to set this up. I have downloaded and installed the app and set up a pop e-mail account as stated on their forum, but still couldn't get it to work. There doesn't really seem to be anything by way of a help file on their site...
I have been after something like this as I don't think our work exchange server is configured to sync with mobile devices...
Cheers
Wonder if this might come in handy for current Mail2Web free users, unable to use Activesync from May 1st. OWA via desktop browser remains free.
thanks
this looks to have good potential .. will try now ! Thanks
One quick thing, would it "lock" my device as my exchange server does when I try to sync directly with it.
Glad you guys are finding Chronobis useful.
One of the biggest problems right now is that I'm having trouble getting this to work with Exchange 2007. In their infinite wisdom, the Exchange developers thought it was a good idea to just completely drop support for WEBDAV in 2007... I like the idea that it is all web services now, but it definitely isn't backwards compatible. I'm also concerned that access to the new web services might actually be controllable by the administrators, were WEBDAV had to be enabled for OWA to function. (Still looking into this one)
So sorry if you are on Exchange 2007, it might be a little while before Chronobis supports it.
Things seem to be working well on the Exchange 2003 front though. If you are having issues configuring it and have Exchange 2003, I suggest you take a look at (or post your questions to) the forums on the Chronobis site, that's where I look for them.
Thanks,

hey guys, well when i go to my companys outlook access OWA site, it has a login that i need to enter on a certain page... https://owana.ford.com/exchange when i enter one username and password for that site, it then states that its been accepted and leads me to a popup that pops up where i enter a different set of username and password....so how would i set up this application?
Hi guys,
Question regarding email format.
When I enter my Exchange Info, I am able to select HTML format. When I send a test email through, it indeed goes through as an HTML message.
However, after awhile (not sure if it is 5 minutes or 5 hours) - the setting changes to PLAIN TEXT and the control is disabled for me to change it. If I remove my account and re-enter it, I am again able to set it up as HTML and send HTML emails. But again, it will revert to PLAIN TEXT.
My question is - is there a way to edit the registry or something that will not allow the phone to select PLAIN TEXT ??? Or what is going on ??? I have searched and as far as I can tell it is probably because the Exchange Server is older - but like I said I AM ABLE TO SET IT UP AND SEND HTML MESSAGES !!!
Thanks,
Ryan
Based on the fact that it changes and then disables the ability to change it, it sounds like it is a policy on the Exchange server.
But isn't it possible to block the Exchange from doing this ???
Possibly by making something ReadOnly ???
No. Policies are set by the server and pushed to the device. Even if you were able to 'make something ReadOnly' it would cause an error on the server and not sync.
My company enforces PIN security on phones that sync to Exchange so i need to enter a 4 digit code to unlock my phone.
thanks for the info. this is really annoying as our company email is html so when i (or anyone else) responds with our phones it jacks the entire email to text...
Exchange Server 2003 doesn't support HTML e-mail for mobile devices...and apparently that's different than the format it supports for regular connected PCs. Exchange Server 2007 has more/better support for mobile devices.
When you first set up the account it (the TP2 client software) doesn't yet know that the remote server is running 2003, but when it communicates with the Exchange server it finds out the sad truth (version 2003) and removes the HTML option. I experienced the same thing before my e-mail host switched to Exchange 2007.
But it is amazing that you can send an HTML e-mail at all...not sure how that works..?

Yes it is amazing - that is why I was thinking there was a ray of hope that it could be forced some way...
I guess I will find out when we are upgrading to Exchange 2007 =)
Ok, so I have my Desire syncing perfectly with my Exchange 2003 (SP2) server - mail, contacts and calendar. PIN code works fine, everything seems in order.
Except that meeting requests aren't displayed properly when viewed from my Inbox. If someone sends me a meeting request, I can see who it's addressed to and I can see what time it was sent. But I can't see the date, time or location of the meeting unless I accept it and then look at it in my calendar - basically the body of the email is blank.
Can anyone else confirm this behaviour - it's a bit annoying.
I am having the same issue. This is not just local to Outlook 2003... Outlook 2007/2010 does the same thing.
My Droid X does not have this issue, but HTC and Samsung Mail apps does.
Same here
I had many issues with the built-in Exchange support. But mind you: this is not related to the OS (Froyo) but to the application itself.
I recently installed TouchDown for Exchange - available on Android Market. It is full-featured (mail, contacts, calendar, tasks and much more) but time-limited to 30 days for the free download. It is very powerful and complete and is more like Outlook on your PC. I'm still testing it but the ways it looks now, I won't have a problem shelling out 15€ to get the license.
All the remarks I had before installing this new mail client are solved.
Hi All,
I use my EVO and sync to a hosted Exchange Server for Outlook 2007 email, contacts, and calendar functions.
In Outlook on the PC, I set the auto receipt acknowledgement 'off' so that if I open the email and it turns out to be spam the spammer doesn't get a 'hit'. I can't find a setting on my EVO to do the same thing. Does the EVO support this?
Fully rooted running Fresh 3.3.0.1 with KK #11 CFS kernel.
Thanks.
I am fairly certain that few, if any, mobile Exchange clients support an automatic receipt acknowledgement. I can tell you that the stock Sense email client doesn't have that feature; you will have to submit your query to the dev for your particular ROM to be sure.
Few mobile clients don't even support 'out-of-office' on/off; I have yet to see one that supports the feature you describe.
Yea, I thought that would be the case, but was hoping I was wrong. Sounds like an app opportunity for those of you that know what you're doing!
Thanks for the reply.
Wouldn't really matter though, if your Outlook is taking care of it. Rules that are run server-side on your mailbox process your email before they hit any clients, like your Evo.
Unified Google Calendar & Corporate Calendar (supports Exchange 2003 and 2007 & 2010 protocol)
I really, really, really don't want to have to move to a Droid Pro or X
I am not sure what you are looking for here. My corporate exchange email syncs the calendar as well as my google calendar. They show on the same screen with color codes distinguishing them from one another.

My exchange never synced, I had to use touchdown for last year and just got kicked off the server for not being a compliant phone. Both the x and pro are and the both have that as their features on Verizon's website
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
It's not as simple as just "Exchange 2010 compliant". It depends on what specific Exchange policies have been configured on your company's Exchange server. The server can even be configured to only accept specific phone models regardless of advertised policies (presumably to weed out phones that lie about their capabilities). If your IT department is locking down their Exchange servers, they really ought to publish which policies are required.
I can connect to my Exchange server with the stock Mail app and the Agenda widget pulls in my Exchange, Google, and Facebook calendars.
