Fist off, cpu tuner is pretty good but I just noticed it won't go under 700 to set profiles, like when the screen off.... how come? While if I uninstall cpu tuner and get setcpu, set cpu would go under 700 all the way to 200 something... any ideas?
I have pershoot kernel btw.
Thanks.

My questions is why do we need to use setcpu when we can use built in cpu tuner on CM7, profiles?? Last time I check whenever your not using your phone ei. screen off or left it by the table your cpu will automatically tune it to the lowest right??
EDIT: maybe we need profiles for battery percentage

wondering the same thing
I have always been a user of SetCPU and profiles, but two days ago I finally decided to give to built-in CPU tuner on CM7 a try, and it seems a little better on battery life and I do not notice any diffrence in the performance. I think I will stick to using the built in CPU tuner for now and see how it goes.
I've been using the built in cpu on CM7 for 2hours it drained me 19% of the battery light usage but I'm gonna try until it drains to 0%, my battery normally last for 13-16 hours on setcpu 248-1017 profile and I'm using the same on built it.

actually, where is the option for the built in CPU Tuner, is there even one? or does it run automatically?

thanks for the fast replies, am gonna flash it right now
As topic title suggests what are the best SetCPU settings for this phone (running ARHD 3.0), I'm new to SetCPU and the whole overclocking part of android (not new to android, i've been coming here and rooting etc since the G1 lol). Anyway just wondering if anyone has got any good setups/profiles they wish to share?
At the minute I just have my max at maximum and min at minimum with on demand scaling, nothing else. Any help is appreciated guys, thanks.
I use 245-1032mhz and smartass or interactive governor and I don't use any profiles because smartass locks the cpu @ 245 mhz when the display is turned off

245 min, 1228 max, smartass governor.
Works great for me.

245-1032mhz
How is the battery life with 1228MHz?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
On-Demand 1036/245 & On-Demand 460/245 for screen-off.
No lag and battery life is awesome

Tried these settings for a day now and really like them, had the same min and max but with on demand, smartass has definitely been giving me better battery over the course of today.

Yes, smartass is nice. Especially since you don't need an extra "display off" profile. It sets CPU to 254 MHz automatically once the display is off.
That reminds me, is it just me or is adjusting the frequency/temperature etc settings on those sliders a pain in the a**? It'd be much easier if you could enter the digits using the keyboard instead of those sliders. Often the view is blocked by your own hand and setting exact values is almost impossible anyway.

I find On-Demand with a 460max / 245min screen-off profile works far better then Smartass with no profile as 245max caused wake lag for me + music player and Last.fm radio were stuttery when screen was off.
I do agree with your second point

A tip for your hand getting in the way: touch the slider with finger/thumb and slide ur finger/thumb down the screen a bit and then you'll see that then when sliding left or right its like your still on the bar but you can now see what your doing!

I've just installed SetCPU for the first time. Set to smartass and left as 245 and 1036 as set by LeeDroid ROM/Kernel.
Will this increase battery life as opposed to not having Set CPU installed and leaving it as stock?

I find smartass does a better job at reducing the cpu when it's not needed which in turn increases the battery life
Hello all. Just got my phone last night and got a new rom flashed. I was wondering what everyone is using to control cpu? I always used set cpu on my vibrant. Is there a better option for our S2 's? Thanks

System tuner is a great app, just because it allows u to change CPU and screen off, also change the memory presents, and even backup ur apps, which is great when u reflash new roms.

Thanks for the responses. I tried system tuner, and I guesss I need to play around with it some more. I have a question about it tho. When I open the cpu tab, it shows 2 sliders. Are they for min/max or does each slider represent a core. If anyone has some tips for using system tuner, that would be great. Thanks
The top bar is for the Max CPU and bottom of course for min if u press boot settings which is next to the govern u can apply screen of CPU which is great for battery saving...I use beast rom4.2 with smartass govern 1.13ghzmax and 383min with screen off-powersave-382 ,try getting the pro version online, hope this helps

Hey all. I bought this also last night and I really like it. Phone seems much smoother then with set cpu. My concern is when I set the clock speed, I apply them to run on init.d. But when I open the app to check the settings it shows my minimum speed as high as my maximum speed. But if I go to the voltage settings then back to the cpu settings its fine. My minimum and maximum speeds are fine. It shows both maxed out when I first open the app. I just don't want my cpu full bore all the time. Thanks.

I think what you are seeing is actually the Max of each core, not the min/max.
Sent from my SGH-T989 using XDA App
Also to whenever your changing speeds in system tuner after you set the desired speeds click on the kernel tab at the bottom and click on file that's says "mpdecision " and kill it, this ensures that both cpu will come back on line as the adjusted speeds you set
I stand corrected. The top slider is Max, bottom is min

You could also try and use Fauxclock for setting OC speeds and a screen off profile and just use System Tuner for UV and SD tweaks. This has been my combo and it works wonders.

Im currently on JMT v9, and want to lower my max CPU to 1512Mhz. Ive tried using the included Voltage Control Lite...slide my max freq down to 1512, then hit apply changes. Ive also tried using AnTuTu CPU Master Free...again, slide max down to 1512 and hit Apply. Also set it to apply upon reboot, which I have done, and it goes back to 1728.
Any ideas?
Faux kernel? Download CPU spy. I'm on clones drones, although set CPU doesn't show the changed Max freq, CPU spy shows the phone never goes above what I've set. If that makes sense

Your thread title says under volt but it appears you want to underclock. Try system tuner or ROM toolbox.

Well i just read in the jmt thread this may be an issue with the kernel...others can't set at 1510 either. 1458 works tho
