[Q] Ringtone Lag? (HD7) - Windows Phone 7 General

Short: I have a HD7 and whenever I get an email or text, the sound it makes is so pathetic. It plays the sound but its super choppy and laggy. Anyone else have this issue?
Long: I work in a design firm and everyone has iPhones and a couple guys are android junkies. They are always flaunting their phones and crap they do on it. So, me being an apple hater, and not a fan of android, I am the first (and only) employee to have a windows phone. HD7 to be exact. The UI gets ooohs and ahhs, xbox live is a hit, and office mobile makes people drool. but, then, I get an email and this super sad sound happens, everyone laughs. So the credibility of my super cool WP7 goes out the window. "How does that thing run xbox live if it can't even play a ringtone" etc...
What's the deal!
haha,
Thanks.

yes my HD7 has the same issue regarding choppy/laggy sound alert whenever someone texts or emails me.

Same here. I've heard some people having this issue on other HTC phones (with or without WP7).

I get it too, seems to be an OS bug... However mine only does it 40% of the time, not really a big deal to me. My HD7 is still way better than any other phone i've ever had.

I don't think it's an OS bug. I know lots of people with LG and nobody had that issue.

I have a Samsung Omnia 7 .Also have the same issue. As above though, its not ALL the time. The majority of the time the sound plays fine.

it seems like a bug in the underlying Windows CE layer. I say this because windows mobile 6.x also did the same. it appears they never fixed it. hit up microsoft forums about it i think...

same problem with my tmous HD7

My HTC Surround has this, but only sometimes when I get emails. Never when the phone rings or when i get texts.

I have 6.5 on my TP2 (retired thankfully) but never had the alert lag issue.

i had a TP and had it happen a couple of times to me. and i've read others on the forum say something about this. anyone else?

Just found this thread. It happens to me, it seems only to happen with emails.

My surround is the same way. Only on emails and only about 25% of the time. I use the tone "Alert 06" as my email tone.

I get it on messages and my alarm

I don't have it on my HD7, but I had it on my Touch HD.

Hi
I have a similar issue on my Mozart. Sometimes text and email alerts lag, stutter or do not sound at all. Strange thing is, when it's doing this, if I hold the rear speaker up to my ear there's a faint hissing noise coming from it (It almost sounds like if your in between radio stations with the volume on 1).
A reset fixes it, but it's a bit annoying.

No lag issue on my htc hd7 at all.

Likewise, no lag at all, hd7

I have the same problem with my HD7 and previously with my TP2. Just curious, does the OP have HTC's Attentive Phone app installed?

Never noticed on HD7 yet however I did have it on HD2 when it was on stock rom... never on OzRom

Poll: Is sound on the tp2 pivotal

This is by no means to insinuate that I am ungrateful to those working so hard on Android on the TP2. But here is the question that I have.
If sound is not working on the TP2 within a relatively short amount of time given the lifespan of phones and attention span of users will it really matter if the UI is not choppy or the battery charge indicator is working perfectly?
Will you adopt android as your chief OS if develoment stops without sound working?
For me, ringtones and music aren't critical, I keep my phone on vibrate most of the time. GPS is more critical. So I guess that would be a "No" in this poll.
Sound is not critical, even on WinMo I rarely use it.
The biggest issue for me currently is the very low in-call speaker volume. After that, speakerphone functionality, then power managment and charging.
Working hardware 3d acceleration would be a big plus as web browsing can be quite sluggish on Android.
If and when these issues are solved, I would be happy to use Android full time on my Rhodium. Though I am still perfectly content with WinMo, it's just nice to have options.
GPS is the feature that I miss the most.

+1 on the in-call spkr. Vol.- I wouldn't mind only bein able to use the spkrphone, as long as it was loud enough to hear
Wep wifi would be awfully nice for me too
But sound does rank right up there.
Sound is a big deal to me as I use it all of the time. Visual Voice Mail is the the killer app and I have figured out how to load and activate it in android but obviously cannot hear it, so its useless.
Plus a ringtone is a nice thing for a phone to have.
It would be nice since it would allow my friend to hear the one Google Voice voicemail that he's been bugging me about for so long to hear. Not that it matters. I would rather use WM for listening to music anyways. Maybe once the Android builds are faster I might consider it.
Sound would be really nice to have, especially since I recently found a tone dialer/red box/blue box app to play with, but it's not completely necessary for me to use the OS. The biggest issues for me are the overall UI lag and short battery life. From what I understand from reading the IRC logs, the developers may know why the sound isn't working now, but it probably won't be a simple fix. Also, AFAIK many of the developers are busy with their lives right now, so now likely isn't the time we're going to be getting sound. I can wait, though.
For me - Sound is not important at all. I would like to have GPS first, HW3d, Camera then sound.
I suggest that instead of polling on sound only, maybe we should pull on the order, or the feature people wanted the most...

HTC Touch Diamond Delayed ringtone & low volume

Hi,
I am a new member here and I currently own a HTC Touch Diamond.
I am planning on buying a new phone only months after buying this one mainly because of two issues:
- When someone calls me, the phone only starts ringing after a few rings on the caller's side. I have missed many calls simply because of the delayed ring so by the time it does ring, the caller has hung up. Weirdly enough there is no delay in the phone lighting up and notifying the user of an incoming call, it's just the ringing that is delayed, so obviously it can detect the incoming call accurately and it is just a firmware issue. Originally it would be delayed by about 5 rings, but after a few modifications I've done from some websites, I've managed to reduce it to about a 2-3 ring delay. Either case the delay itself is unacceptable.
- The ring-tone volume is ridiculously low. I have tried all methods available such as manually adjusting the volume through registry hacks, using an application called Diamond Tweak, etc, but it simply is not loud enough.
I was wondering if anyone has experienced these issues before and if there is a fix for them now. I did a lot of research into fixing this in the past few months and to no avail. I have now given up but given that this forum is so active, I figured I might ask for help here incase there is a solution that has eluded me. By the way HTC customer support is useless. They fail to even recognize the problem and almost always conclude with a response along the lines of "we've forwarded you issue to the technical team and will get back to you if a solution is found." I am almost certain that will never happen and I am extremely doubtful that they've even bothered to forward anything to anyone.
I was hoping as a last resort that this problem could be solved by replacing the Windows Mobile OS with Google Android OS, but it appears Android OS is still not fully compatible with the Touch Diamond.
Anyway, any help with this would be very much appreciated. Thanks!
Yeah, this is certainly a problem on stock diamonds. It's primarily caused by the speed at which the phone can access and render the phonecanvas, as well as the playing of a MP3 ringtone.
The low-hanging fruit is to use a [.wav] ringtone which is played natively in WM6. Also, if you're willing to flash a custom ROM, there are several that use optimized dialers (I made one) with better responsiveness. If you search, you'll come across a few:
GenY D2X
GenY D2The incoming call latency used to annoy me, it's why I initially signed up to xda, but it's something I haven't even noticed in quite awhile. I'll attach a [.wav] ringtone for you to try out.

[Q] HD7 Email Alert Sound issue

Anyone else having an issue with the HD7 and the email notification sounds?
When mine goes off, about half the time it sounds broken, like someone trying to run an MP3 on a 386..
I have installed the HTC sound enhancer and tried for audio No effects, Dolby and SRS, all have no effect.
Surely I cannot be alone with this.
My HD7 have this too. Not the biggest problem on Earth
happens on my Mozart as well if i have Vibration turned on ...
My lock sound had changed to sound like an error tone. Hard reset and went it back to normal, but I lost all my progress on games

This issue has been reported in the List of BUGS here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=836373
It's indeed a known bug.
hmmm, don't have email alerts turned on so not sure. I know that all my other alerts sound fine though.
Maybe the sound file corrupted or maybe a bug. Might want to report it to the microsoft help forums.

Notification sound "fading in" effect

Hello xda,
Any time I receive a text or mail the notification sound starts low but quickly ramps up in volume. Is anyone experiencing this as well? Is there a way to set this so it's loud from the start? Hope that makes sense.
I appreciate your help and time
I noticed when the phone rings sounds only by the lower speaker, and sound very low and muffled.

Turning off "Pocket Mode" did make a "slight" improvement, but not much. Thanks for the tip though. :good:

Many others (including myself) have noticed and posted about this issue here (though not enough in my opinion). It's not restricted to notifications and ringtones either, it happens with *all* sounds on the phone.
Unfortunately, there is no way to fix it. Different sound drivers, updated firmware, build.prop settings... Nothing seems to get rid of this "speaker protection" crap. I am still hopeful to someday see a mod or firmware update that addresses it though, because after trying all those different things, I've run out of ideas.
Sent from my HTC 10 using XDA-Developers mobile app
I've also noticed that, it sounds fine when I preview notifications and ringtones, but when the phone actually rings it is a lot more quiet and muted. It does appear that the top speaker is not being used for ringtones. I'll try to call htc, let's see what they say.
Called HTC, spoke with a girl who sounded like she was following some sort of flowchart. Needless to say she couldn't help and concluded that it was a defective hardware. I tried to explain that others are having the same issue and it appears to be a bug, but I don't think she understood. They are sending me a new phone. I'm sure the new phone will have the same issue. Maybe if more people call HTC with this issue, they will figure it out.

Hi there
the same problem here, without any mod, crack o root solution. But the difference were the answer from HTC technical support: " this is a technical and engineering design, it´s not a bug", this mean: " f**** you costumer, and again, a new dissapoint from HTC. I has tried in several forums, here in XDA and another ones: nothing for to do, i loose my faith in the HTC 10. It´s very frustating because a little detail ( the ringtone volume and quality) destroy a overall experience

OH, so they know about it? This is a technical and engineering design fu**-up. My notifications are half the volume of the M8. If that is their answer, then I will probably return my phone.
Any solutions yet?
On mine it rings from the bottom speaker for about 3 rings, quiet, then ramps up and uses the top speaker too. With V4a on now once the top speaker kicks in it's very loud. It gives me a chance to answer it before it blasts me out.
I just bought a new htc 10 and quickly noticed this annoying sound fading in issue, searched online and this seems to be the only place talked about it with no solution, does everybody else really okay with this??
I guess at least it sounded fine when using headphone, but with this speaker fading crap everything sound like its echoing right now. This NEEDS to get solved.
Any solution ?
I came here to search for any ways to turn this "feature" off (and that's what it is, despite how nobody asked for it or wanted it). Looks like nobody has found any solutions. But here's my theory anyway:
The "fading in" volume effect must be a function of the Boom Sound software. It's a noise gate. And it sucks. For instance, try listening to any music that has any hard hits around any silence (a good example is "Brain Stew" by Green Day). It's really annoying.
I wish somebody could figure out how to disable the Boom Sound software altogether.
According to Google, https://www.google.com/search?newwi...0i22i30k1j33i22i29i30k1j33i21k1.0.leWX0kmgR6I it's a known Feature of Android 5, and many people complain about it, but there is no way to disable it.
Some people can workaround the issue, on some rom, with some apps or players; there is no universal solution.
In the best case, some chat app will not bell if they are already full screen; and this is an issue for me because if I have my phone plugged, and display timeout is 1h, then, it won't bell for incoming messages, and if I am >1m from it, I won't know people are talking to me. That's why I try to always make all apps always bell. But, if I am listening to music, the permanent bell that comes with intense chat may turn the music off all the time.
I not sure if I shall downgrade my phone to Android 4, 2.2, or 1.8 ...
.. arg, I am stupid, those versions have never been ported for my most recent phone.

Redmi note 5 pro microphone problems

Hi there,
So i bought redmi note 5 global version which seems to be identical to note 5 pro. Problem is during skype calls and even phone calls the recipient can not hear me clearly most of the time. Sound becomes muffled and incomprehensible, person can hear me but can't make out what i am saying. It does not happen constantly, issue comes and goes. I am on 9.6.4 MIUI version.
Does anyone experience the same issue? Could it be firmware issue or charging pcb microphone issue. I don't feel like dealing with warranty since i have sensitive data on my phone, i spent ages setting everything up and it would probably take long time to get it back. I was thinking to replace microphone pcb myself since they can be purchased for 10 buckaroos and replacement it is easy and straightforward.
Does anyone have some insight into the problem or has dealt with it themselves.
Cheers
miui 10 is out
please upgrade and try
So i upgraded to MIUI 10 and issue persists, doing some reading it seems during voice call apps like skype top noise canceling mic goes bananas and messes up sound for recipient.
I feel changing bottom mic pcb won't do anything. There were posts about disabling noise canceling but for some reason those posts are taken down.
Does anyone know a fix other than throwing my phone against the wall. I need to use skype a lot, i've gotten used to my lil redmi, would be shame to buy smth else.

Have you tried this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...gisk-fix-bad-camcorder-audio-quality-t3828711
It fixes the static background noise in recorded videos, but it might work in skype too
I have the same issues like Dzessi.
Mic is an garbage, unusable. Allmost all the time is not working properly, expecially in games or apps (voice chat) is low, high, diatorcions, radio white sharping noise, echo. I ve tryd everything on YouTube an papa Google, nothing solve it. I receive it in September as my bd gift, and I can't enjoy it, so frustrating I never write so many mesages on apps since I ve got an Java phone, nobody wants to voice chat anymore, (my brother recorded me and send me the voice message on whatsapp) well, I didn't voice chat whit me allsow in that horrible noise. If someone can help me solve this I ll be so happ. thanks in advance
I also have the same problem. Some say that some of you talk nice we do not hear you. Does anyone know the way to overcome it?
