Is the screen on the Desire Z the same as the Nexus One?

I might be buying a Desire Z but I don't want to have the same screen problems that the Desire/Nexus One have. Does the Desire have a new/different screen?
Also, would you guys recommend me switching from an iPhone 4 to the Desire Z?
Depends what you like, I have no screen problems so far.

It's different. There's no AMOLED version but the touchscreen handles four simultaneous points without any problems.

Android 4 on HTC Desire HD?

Hello,
Will it be possible to run Android's latest version on the HTC Desire HD? Android 4.0: Ice Cream Sandwich should be released by now..
It has not been released yet no. However the devs are working on porting an SDK version (and others) to the DHD, however there is no ETA. 4.0 has not been released by Google or anyone so its hard to do it.
i don't think so

Thanks for linking to my site. The list I compiled for the Android 4.0 update is not official by any means and was created based on my knowledge of the phones listed and HTC's Android update history.
The Desire HD is the foundation for a lot of the phones the HTC released even this year. We've already seen developers create ICS ROMs of their own for the phone and we know it has enough ROM/RAM to handle HTC's bloated Sense builds as well.
I still believe it will come, but it may be 4-6 months before it's actually released. HTC is focusing its efforts on their dual-core handsets first and will probably roll out ICS for their single-core handsets in late Q2 of next year.
Have seen the test version and it looks really nice ! Cant wait.
No HTC won't gjve us the ice cream sandwich update. The desire hd had good specifications written a fast 1 GHz processor but since it is not one of the latest phones and is not a dual core, we will not get it. There are always ways to get it through cyanogenmod our other custom roms but we will not get the official update from HTC.
But it will run nice from custom rom

If you want to have taste of ICS, there's beta version of it which developing for DHD. I'm working with it and it's pretty good. But you need to have S-OFF and rooted.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1343361
And it's still beta and do not expect much from it. And if you love camera, please note that camera isn't working on it still. It have bugs, crashes, and much more. But still I love it.
I believe single core phones from HTC won't get the official ICS update. We will have to choose between 57 different roms. 38 will be probably better then official HTC version.

Anyone root their rogers htc one X yet?

I tried using the Tegra 3 method but to no avail. It boots just fine but it crashes if I try loading the recovery partition. Have to wait for someone to release the S4 version to root our babies.
you might want to be looking in the XL forums. i might be wrong.

You are spot on. The Snapdragons are not called the HTC One X. They are the HTC One XL. If you carry on flashing One X roms you'll end up with a bricked device.

[Q] uTorrent shows my HTC One X is a HTC Aria..?

I just connected my HoX and suddenly uTorrent said HTC Aria was connected (my HoX).
So my question.. Why does it says HTC Aria, which is a completely different phone? And does this matter at all? (I'm not gonna use uTorrent together with my HoX
Same thing happen with me
I don't know why ?

It's something in uTorrent. Had this also with my HTC Desire which was a Aria according to uTorrent. And my Galaxy S2 was a Galaxy Tab

mine said that my HTC One X was the iphone nothing to worry about gents
Is this a utorrent app? For downloading to the HOX?
No, we're talking about what happens in uTorrent when we connect our androids to our PCs.
But there are a few nifty apps for downloading to android from torrents. aDownloader is the one I'm using atm, cause it's light and it has no limits. You need to pay for other ones to get full speeds.
My HoX connected as HTC Aria and my Desire as HTC Dream. haha..

Which phone did you have before the One X

Hey guys,
So which phones did you guys have before upgrading to the HTC One X?
And if you're planning to buy one, which phones do you currently have?
As for me, I had the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i, so its a big jump, from a 1GHz single core device to a 1.5GHz Quad-core device the Play had a 5mp camera and 512MB RAM(lol)

I am from almost the same place as you. I had the Xperia Arc.
Sgs2

Coming from an SGS2 and an N8.
HOX is now my only device, and my second HTC after the Desire.
Beautiful piece of kit.
DHD > SGS2 > T-Mobile Rapport (after selling SGS2 waiting for HOX) > SGS (after selling Rapport waiting for HOX) > HOX (My android history)
Before that BB 9700, and various other handsets probably had over 20 handsets.
I9000, also big jump.

HTC desire HD
HTC sensation xe and iPhone 4s. This trumps either with ease, they both had horribly bad battery life counter to what most 4s owners say. Sense on the xe seemed to crash every 10 min... so annoying.

Galaxy Nexus > One X
I might go with the new Galaxy s III or iPhone 5 soon
HTC Desire from June 2010 to May 2012 .. now enjoying my 1x
Atrix not bad with CM9 but camera and video was broken. To be honest I miss its size much easier to handle than this gorgeous but gigantic screen

I upgraded from galaxy nexus and I'm glad I did. I love pure android but the One X is something else!

Upgraded my HTC Touch HD (since 2008) to the One X.
Major improvement!
Well directly coming from iPhone 4. I mean having an iPhone and its retina, anything less is bad (yes I mean you sneaky lying Samsung) so the htc One X after iPhone is the best way I could have gone!
But there was in between a Galaxy Note for 2 weeks which I had to sell as the AMOLED (with Pentile) made me die a little inside as I was looking at it.
(Was the second time I gave AMOLED a go, and made me regret after 2 mins I started the phone)
Before SGS, htc Hero. (and countless not smartphones except the XDA Stealth)
upgraded from HTC Desire. Still miss it sometimes...
HTC Desire, I loved it, but i hated it's limited memory/space for apps
