Here's my question, I'd like to switch out the fonts in the Rom I'm using is the Bowtie from Nebula (loving it by the way). I'd just like to switch fonts is all. What would I need to do. I read a few post a while back in some other threads that to use metamorph but the apply says for advanced users. I don't think I'm on advanced level yet but I would still like to learn.
Epic4G + Froyo = The Shizznit
Metamorph is really easy to use.
Download the free version from the market, once its installed you can download a zip with fonts in it then just apply the don't you want to use.
EDIT:
Search the threads for (metamorph changing fonts on the fly) and there is a zip file you can download there to use with metamorph.

You can also flash this (attached) through Clockwork. What I do is, open up this zip (use program 7zip, if you don't already, on your computer),
Take any font, rename it to DroidSans.ttf or DroidSans-Bold.ttf.. etc, copy and replace any fonts inside this zip, then flash.
Or, you can just check out the mother of all xda font threads: 200 Flashable Font Packs
I think ComfortAA (the attached one) is still my fav though.
You guys rock! I asked a question and you guys answered quick and perfect. I'm gonna try these out. Thank you thank you thank you! People like you guys and this community make my phone The Shizznit!

ComfortAA is my current favorite as well. I use root explorer to copy the DroidSans.ttf and DroidSans-Bold.ttf files on my sd card and paste them over the default files in the system/font folder. When I restart the phone, my font is there.
I bought Root System Font installer from the market. Over 200 fonts, you can preview the font and its easy.

Hi guys,
another day, another tip!
Today I will explain how to change your system fonts at will, but as download and set them free.
You will say that our phone has this function ... But it is not true, or rather, this function has to pay.
To avoid spending money unnecessarily, I will explain where to download millions of characters and how to apply them in a few clicks!
Let's start!
What we need:
- Samsung Galaxy S i9000
- Phone rooted with STAND ALONE PROCEDURE (all credits to Leshak);
- IMPORTANT, BUSYBOX from Market;
- Gscript from Market (all credits of this app goes to PinkVenture, if you like it, buy a full version);
- My tips
What will do:
- Download any font you like from THIS SITE (all credit goes to this site) or any site that lets you download free fonts;
- Create a folder called Fonts in you internal sdcard:
/sdcard/Fonts
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
- Rename the downloaded font in 2 files called(2 files with differents names, same main file):
DroidSans.ttf
DroidSans-Bold.ttf
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
- Copy those file in /sdcard/Fonts;
- Start Gscript, leave it to take Superuser acces, then press on:
Menu --> Add script --> Load file
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
and close it;
- a new folder called gscript was created;
- Download my zip file contenets all of 3 scripts that we need:
BackupSystemFonts - backup all your system fonts from /system/fonts to /sdcard/Fonts/bak
ChangeSystemFonts - change the system fonts
RestoreBakSystemFonts - restore the backed up system fonts from /sdcard/Fonts/bak to /system/fonts
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
- Copy all 3 scripts in the gscript folder on internal sdcard:
/sdcard/gscript
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
- Start Gscript and then press:
Menu --> Add script --> Load file
Click to expand...
Click to collapse
select the script that you want and check Need SU? then save;
- A new script is added!
- Press on the script you want and it start!
- Well done, the new font is applied!!
Archive password: socketandroid84
Needless to say that now you can choose any font you want and apply it without any problem with only 2 clicks quickly and safely!
I hope that the trick will be useful!
Update 06/08/2010 - LOOP SCREEN RESOLVED
- Before apply the scripts install BUSYBOX from MARKET; there is a bug in the old version of busybox installed by the update.zip for root our phone. It's install an old version of busybox that doesn't use the "cp" command.
So, when you go to remove and copy the new fonts though the script, it's remove the old ones but doesn't copy the new ones. You can resolve this bug simply install the last version of BUSYBOX from market!

Bravo!
I was wondering how to apply new fonts that I want besides those
from manufacturer. Thanks a lot
Thanks. First time I tried changing fonts (not using this method) I ended up reflashing the whole thing because it got stuck on the i9000 welcome screen so be carefull dealing with fonts (yeah sounds weird I know) ^_^
I thought we can change font:
Menu->Settings->Sound and Display->Font Style
I am still trying to figure out how to add more fonts.
Thanks for the easy method.
My results:
is it possible to change the font size too? because some of the 3rd party fonts look really nice, but a bit too small when applied.

Are there any prerequisities for the fonts? Because I tried one and the phone got stuck in bootscreen, so I was forced to make a reflash of FW.
I found out that I have fonts with 2 different icons (all files are .ttf), one icon has TT and the other one has O on it (see attached screenshot).

Thanks guys, I will try the "real" ttf font.
EDIT: working like a charm, thanks
this is awesome!
Crap, I did the same thing - Gets stuck while booting...
Might want to give a clearer warning in the first post about the need for a true, ttf. I'm apparently way too anxious to get things going than reading all posts
ok, how do i reset? because i got stuck while booting after doing this smh....
heck same here end up stuck at boot screen. is this really due to the font i want to switch? how do i know it's a real ttf font?
Every FONTS in this site work very well:
FONTS
If you want to reset, reflash or press the power button for 10 sec i think... search in the wiki!
For me, it worked once with 2.1, then, after flashing another 2.1 firmware it got stuck while booting.
With 2.2 it doesn't seem to work...
Stuck at loading screen too, only option is to flash ?? or is there any other option ?
Kind of lost how to reset the phone.
Is the only way to do it by pressing Volume down and turning it on?
Not in the mood to lose all my Data. :-/
I am looking for a zip file that I can add all the fonts from the evo in.. maybe one I can just replace the fonts for droidsanshebrew, droidsansfallback, droidsansarabic, etc... all of them.
Anyone help? I know they have font zips to change a font, but they typically have only three font files in them..
Thanks in advance!

You know longer need to flash fonts. Check out this page. A developer created a free app to change your system fonts without needing to flash. Place your fonts somewhere on your SDCARD, set the paths and reboot. BAM. Where is that good ole thanks button again??
Main thread: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/15077-ho...-ics-including-bold-and-bold-italic-variants/
If you're into theming, you may have replaced Roboto-Regular with a different font, but noticed that Gingerbread-friendly font packs that replace Roboto-Bold.ttf usually cause ICS to bootloop. Tools like Font Installer and FontChanger are cool (props to the devs) but kind of a drag because they don't replace the Bold/Italic/Bold Italic versions of the fonts. The reason is because ICS pays attention to the font metadata in ways that Gingerbread does not, and many fonts don't have the correct weight/classification/family metadata.
To make a working font pack you must edit the metadata of the Bold, Italic and Bold-Italic fonts themselves to reflect their proper weight and design. Note: these instructions are for making font packs for AOSP builds of ICS. These are not for MIUI!
Disclaimer: follow these instructions and use my font packs at your own risk! I've tested them myself, but I cannot be held responsible for anything that happens as a result of following these instructions or flashing my font packs! Do you feel me?
I suppose you could use a different app, but I used FontCreator 6.0 Pro, so this guide is for FC6P.
Open the font in FC6P.
Go to Format > Settings.
Under the Classification tab, make sure the weight is correct (Normal (Regular) for Regular and Italic, Bold for Bold and Bold Italic).
Make sure the Font Design (Windows) and Mac Style are correct (Regular for Regular, Bold for Bold, Italic for Italic, Bold AND Italic for Bold Italic).
Click OK.
Go to Format > Naming.
Make sure all the fonts you want to use use the same Font Family ("Roboto" in the case of Roboto, etc).
Make sure Full Font Name and Postscript Name are correct ("Roboto Regular" for Roboto Regular, etc., "Roboto-Regular" etc. for Postscript Name)
Click OK.
PRO TIP: While you're here, clear out the glyph for .notdef. It's ugly and will show up in your launcher and potentially other places if the name of your homescreen item gets abbreviated.
Save the font.
Once you've done the above for each font, add the fonts to a folder called "fonts" and put that inside a folder called "system".
Put the "system" folder in the same folder as your META-INF folder (use an updater-script made for ICS).
Zip up the META-INF and system folders into a normal ZIP file.
Flash the zip using ClockworkMod or ROM Manager.
Profit!
And here is one font pack to get you started, my personal favourite, Nokia Pure, with the custom bold/italic/bold italic fonts I made myself: Now I'm going to get some sleep. UPDATED ZIP 2/4/2012:

Phone Dialer Fonts
Does anyone know how to change the fonts in the Phone Dialer? I've tried several different things but was unsuccessful and I followed every link in this thread and some do mention changing the dialer font but only for HTC phones. They didn't talk about how to do for ICS.
I also think it would just top it all off and make my phone perfect if I could change the 4G/3G/1x and battery % numbers in the status bar to match my current font but I have a feeling these probably work different than the fonts everywhere else in the system like maybe they use .png images or something. Am I right?
Also, getting the Android Clock in the lockscreen to match my current font would be cool. In this I was successful by taking the modified Roboto-Regular.ttf file and copying and then renaming it to AndroidClock.ttf and then replacing it...or was it Clockopia?? Idk, I tried them one at a time until I got it to work but just can't remember which one it is.
Thanks in advance to anyone that can help me!

I think your right about clocktopia for lock screen.
dialer buttons are in the phone.apk
3g/4g/1x are in the systemui.apk
battery should be in systemui but if not then framework (depends on rom/phone)
all are pngs.

Hello,
I was wondering if you would be able to make a flashable pack for both of the fonts that I have attached in the zip file.
one is Patronne and the other is rosemary.
I have tried using the eval version of fontcreator but it refuses to let me save any changes in trial mode. I was able to get something done with the patronne where i could replace all of the 4 files but it still wouldnt bold the patronne font. It would appear in the font just wouldnt bold itself..
If you could work your magic on these two fonts I would greatly appreciate it. They are my favorite two to use.
i want to change stock font
but i just want to be sure if
it is safe to use fontomizer
on my SGY?
im running 2.3.6 stock rom (DXKK4)
it would be a great help, tia.
Yap. Ive used it but if you want the manual way but better. Coz doing it manually lets you install a font u really want unlike fontomizer it just have presets

yes.. and i love ubuntu font. try it.
Use "Custom android font switcher", works like a charm.
What more, it has no bugs like fonts slightly placed higher than its supposed to be. It is the only app i came across (pardon me, I'm not a pro in this topic, just my experience) which replacess each and erey font in your phone, even the keyboard fonts will be changed.
thanks for the advice guys,
ill try one.. ayos!
i used font installer by jrummy and fontomizer several times... so far they are safe and worked
font installer needs root tho
Some wont work on custom roms

Rename to the system names (but there are many font files, do make sure which you want to replace!) and replace them. Don't forget to set permission to rw-r--r--. Then just reboot to see effect. If anything happens just flash the original ROM without wiping anything.

I mean, can't you open the apk's with WinRAR or WinZIP? (if necessary, change the file extension to .zip) Extract and seek .ttf files in it. I can't guarantee you will find it though, as I always directly fetch readily-available ttf files and never used these font APKs. Maybe that's different.
A bit offa topic: why change when system default (the Roboto font family) is beautiful enough?

Then you must be doing wrong, or you might haven't set correct permissions after replacing files.
Anyway, I'm free on summer vacation, so you can send me the fonts you want to use (font name or file, both are okay, BUT it has to be a font family with at least bold, italic and bold+italic variants!), and I'll see if I can pack up a flashable zip for you.

Normally I have to base my flashable zip on an already existing one, then I just replace the fonts inside, slightly tweak the update-script, repack, re-sign and all done. Dunno how to go into details...
