There is an awful lot of dust building up in the bottom left corner of my screen making it really hard to see the screen excpecially when im outside.
Anyone ever have this issue or know an easy way how i can get it out of there?
I have a good bit of dust above the back and search keys. It's starting to get annoying. Especially on black backgrounds.
My 3rd generation iPod touch had the same problem. But I have the 4th gen and there's no dust whatsoever. But I'm pretty sure the screen and glass are fused together somehow.

I have this same issue on my old phone (D2), there's dust underneath the top layer of the screen that I can't seem to get out. Would definitely be interested in a solution for this.

Same problem here but in the top left and now middle of the screen. When I had my Storm I took it in for this and they did replace the phone for me. Right now though I finally got a good dinc after two bad refurbished ones so I think I may hold onto it until my warranty runs out then take it apart and try to clean the dust out myself. From the disassembly videos it looks pretty easy but my only concern is that there is a missing (probably just a foam strip) and this will keep happening. I'd be interested to hear of other people with the same issue and their fixes. The dust is pretty annoying for me too, and especially noticeable in the sun.

Do you guys use invisishield? With my shield an silicone case. , my phone is completely encased.

I like to run all my stuff nude. No case, no screen protector. Save for my iPad, it has the Apple case so its easier to type on. No screen protection though. I prefer the feel of the glass.

The shield is awesome, well worth it. Feels great and does not scratch. The silicone has saved my bacon more than once. Phone looks brand new, had it since day one.

+1 for screen protector (invisishield is too sticky for me, I like the cheap ones). But if you can't get dust out with compressed air I know I've spilled many solvents on my screen and haven't dissolved it yet (nearly have my Chem degree)

My invisishield is not sticky at all, almost a lubed feel. Its amazing. I like it cause it doesnt scratch and its harder to fingerprint.

dust in the screen, dust in the screen, looking like a fool with dust in your screen!!
Sorry im a loser
I had an invisible shield for a few months. It was ok, but it started getting dents in it. And they were annoying. Ive been without a screen protector for about 5 months now. And it hasn't scratched the screen at all. There is some scratches on the bottom right corner, but that's just the glass. Not on the screen part. I've even put it in my pocket with my keys a few times on accident.

Damn. Same thing on the D2 I'm getting rid of, not that much dust though. Anyone have any ideas to get that **** out?
I'm fighting with this issue as well, I never had a problem until the glass shattered and i took it apart and replaced it. A couple of weeks ago I took the phone apart again, dusted the screen & glass and put it back together with a piece of tape where I thought the dust would accumulate, to no avail.
My next idea is to find an extremely thin, black, rubberized material to wedge between the glass and the bezel. I have a feeling that there is some kind of lining missing.. Not sure what I wanna use just yet though for this.
Either way I have to take apart the phone one more time to get the dust out. Ill have to have my gf's phone with me to compare as well, maybe see if I can straight up see a piece in hers that isn't in mine.

Please post up when you compare the two or figure out a way to seal the dust out. None of the other replacement incredibles I've had ever got any dust in them, and this one just keeps getting worse.

Just for the record. My friend has an SLCD model and his doesn't have any dust. Mine is an original AMOLED (Manufactured 4/2/2010). Got it on launch day (4/29/2010). And I believe he got his in November.

I dont have any dust... weird.
Does anybody know of a video demonstrating it being removed or can somebody make a video of them removing their one? I need reassurance before I try to remove mine as it's a right scratch magnet.
I removed mine

There should be no way of screwing up if that's what you're worried about. I usually mess up everything I do, but the screen protector came off fine. Just start picking at a corner of the screen, right at the very edge (I couldn't even see the edge of the cover, but after picking at it, it came off quickly)
I took a pin and carefully picked up a corner starting from where the buttons meet the screen. If you look closely you can see the "screen protector"

Hi Guys,
First post post and its a sad one.
Word of warning to some of you guys with the one x.
I had some major screen issues when i first got my device (preordered) and i spoke to htc about the issues i was having flickering, green lines, touch issues and all the heat that the phone was generating.
I was in the cinema the other night and was texting during the copious and irrelevant adverts that accompany any film and i turned to speak to my friend and when i pressed the unlock button i discovered my screen had shattered.
I dont know wether this was a one off manufacturing error or wether it was related to the issues i was having before but a word of warning as i dont want it happening to someone else as it has taken me a while to get a new phone issued. Mine will be going to HTC for investigation no doubt. Thankfully my retailer was reasonable in the end, and when they found out i had already reported a screen fault to HTC the imediately offered a swap out.
Its not a shatter from any particular point, it just seemed to shatter from the middle out.
Before anyone comments saying you must have pressed too hard, i use my fingers for pointing and touching and dont yell "by the power of greyskull" before using my phone.
So if you are still having banding, or non responsive screen issues of anykind be careful. I hope this is a one off, but if it hapens to someone else at least you know your not the only one.
Pressure from the pocket maybe. Ive worked in the mobile industry for 8 years and have never known a screen to pop so to speak. Very strange. Could be an assembly issue with the glass slightly over sized but would still need a knock to set it off.

maybe he dropped it and wants to believe he didn't
another cracked screen
My screen cracked when I performed a rather bad magic trick by putting my phone in my front pocket and when I took it out the screen was cracked. To say I was disappointed would be a bit of a understatement.
On contacting HTC they now say that as I unlocked the boot loader not only do I have to pay for a new screen ( I would argue any phone that cant be put in a pocket of your trousers with out cracking is not fit for purpose ) but worse as I had unlocked the bootloader that I would have to pay for a new mother board as well.
I would understand having to pay for a new screen but having to pay for a new motherboard and screen does not sit well with me. If they had said that I would have pay for the screen and done nothing else on the phone and that I would have had no warranty I would have been ok with that
mox: thankyou for implying im deluded, i will take your kind words onboard
I didnt actually put my phone back in my pocket, i have never dropped it and had a full case on it from the word go. I cant see how or why this would happen and would hope its a one off an the build quality seems good and after the updates the phone works really well.
Im hoping this was a one in a million situation that wont occur for anyone else, but i thought just in case, HTC couldnt deny it had happened before.
Was the phone extremely hot or anything? Seems strange it would just shatter sitting in your pocket?

So I'm not the only one then who takes my air pistol into cinemas to shoot at the phones that annoy the hell out of me when they should be TURNED OFF!
I've tried doing the same when im flying to people who never listen when the pilot tells you to refrain from using electronic devices, I just can't get it through customs!
It's much more likely that you applied too much pressure on the screen by accidentally pressing it against the arm rest or something else nearby while you were distracted.
Ockham's razor, the glass isn't under any load stress so it's impossible for it to suddenly fracture. And if it did, you would have heard a loud cracking noise. Pressure must have been applied. Either that or you dropped it and now you're trolling. Sorry, but I really find it difficult to believe in spontaneous shattering of a phone's screen...

Im not trolling, just saying what happened. Thats all. Im not trying to get you guys to believe or disbelive me. Thats what happened to me. Im hoping to get something back from htc when they get it back
Gorilla Glass looking good, hahahaha
If it took a lot of pressure to shatter a demo glass of Gorilla Glass on a board, then either you put way too much pressure, or way too much heat damaged the glass causing it to shatter.

I'm sure there's a lot of people who won't believe this story. They key, however, to communicating online is this. Apply these simple rules before you post and you'll be doing very well.
1) does what I'm about to say need to be said (does it benefit anyone)?
2) does it need to be said right now?
3) does is need to be said by me?
If the answer to any of these is "no" then probably best not to say it at all.
If someone says something you don't believe to be true but it is not hurting anyone I would generally suggest letting it go. just my twopen'th.

My question is does the one x have a screen protector on it
Sent from my HTC One X using xda premium
It doesn't really matter if the screen has a screen protector on it or not. If someone took a baseball bat and smashed your screen, with or with no screen protector, it will still shatter.

If you meant you scratched your screen without knowing for a fact you placed a screen protector on it yourself AFTER taking off the "I'm the ONE you've been waiting for" sticker, then no, you don't have a screen protector.
Easiest way to check is to get a piece of tape, tape it on the screen and peel.
Just wondering if anyone can verify this glitch. My gf was using her s3 on a glass table flat and was trying to use her phone like that without holding it..swiping thru menus and sites..I tried it on my phone and it was doing the exact same thing..it would just not register or swipe correctly..I moved it over to a counter top and my chair and it worked...
Now..is this because of some sensor not being able to work because of the glass? just wondering if anyone has seen this happen before..
Thanks!
Hmmm that's odd. I'm not seeing that issue. Just tried it.

im wondering if its because the table is clear glass and a small frame around the glass? it was being used on the clear part with no frame underneath..so straight shot to the ground...ive tried it over and over and only the glass table has the problem..so strange

I've not only noticed this effect on multiple surfaces when I'm not actually holding the phone, but also on other devices, such as my previous Motorola Atrix. Not sure what might be causing it, but I'd have to say it probably has more to do with the type of surface you are sitting/lying on than what surface the phone is on.
Hey everyone,
This is weird and I have not found anyone with the same problem on the net. My phone glass is not cracked but their is something leaking at the top left corner of the screen. It started just a little but but now it has gotten bigger. It almost looks like a silver substance and it is leaking beneath the glass.
Has anyone seen this before? What could be wrong?? Phone is working fine...
Any Ideas??

I repair phones sometimes for extra money. Samsung phones have a like substance between the glass and the lcd and that what your song is what happens when you start to separate the two
