Guys i need help..
I try to instal new rom but from some reason i am on white screen with green HTC..ok ,no problem i have a backup but again from some reason i cant use backup.
What i to do ?
I can go to recovery but i dont have any other rom there.
TNX

Some extra information would be helpful.
So youre experiencing a bootloop? You can run recovery but it wont restore to your nand? What rom were you trying to flash? What procedure did you follow etc.
You could allways just take your sd card out use a card reader or another phone/device and connect to pc, copy rom to sd, enter hboot ... complete wipe and then flash again.

I dont know what is going on but i use card reader and put again new rom rcdmix but i cant instal..i mean i instal rom but when i do reboot its stock on white screen and green HTC.

Anyone?
From begining.
Last couple days i use RCDMIX 14 and after that i try new rom ..newSense DHD baadnwz V0.4c Runs from NAND,.
I use normal procedure and cant flash that rom so i decide to come back on RCDMix from backup.
From then i cant flash or restore nothing.

Did you wipe before flashing a new ROM? If not, do that
If you did you may have to go back to stock and start again

Ok you are trying to go from a data2ext rom to a normal a2sd rom.
1. Back up current sd card
2. Format sd card and the repartition as is advized by Baadnwz
3. Copy back up of sd card back onto card including 0.4c
4. Place card back into phone and enter hboot
5. Wipe everything in recovery (important)
6. Flash rom
This should work, i think the problems you are having is due to how the data2ext modifies the ext partition, so the format and re-partition should solve your problem!

Yep..full wipe.
Very strange ,,,when i put card from other phone my desire works(not rcdmix ,some MUI rom) but when i pull out from Desire and put Desires card its not work.

[Q] noob question before rooting...

Just about to root and install a custom rom but have a few questions:
I know how to root by using paul's r6 method, and also how to install a rom but my question is, I have tried searching and cant find an answer:
I want to use A2SD+, have an 8Gb micro sd card installed, which i have backedup on my PC but how to i prepare this for A2SD+?
I also have an old radio, how do i update to the newest radio 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20? i have downloaded the file but not sure what to do
can anyone help?
cheers and sorry if this has been covered but i couldnt find it
Easy way:
Once you root, install ROM Manager from the Market and tell it to partition your SDCard.
Hard(er) way:
Use ADB. When I tried this I just got errors about it not being able to find the partitioning thing so someone else will have to help with that.
how to use ADB way? isn't this sub-forum wrong to ask these?
should be only for development questions

Great thanks, what about installing the new radio? do it first or root first, custom rom then new radio? what order?
»You go into recovery (start the phone with volume down and power held down)
Then do a nandroid backup, wipe the phone, and choose flash rom and radio. Your rom.zip should be on the root of the sd card. It's worth backing up the sd card too and repartition it into 0 swap; 512mb ext2 and the rest fat32 form recovery if you want to use apps2sd.
So back up sd and phone via windows and titanium backup
then boot into recovery
nandroid
partition
wipe / factory reset
install rom
install latest radio
reboot phone
restore sd card contents & restore via titanium«
ok thanks
so just by rooting it doesnt erase my data? e.g. contacts etc?

[Q] I'm confusing the steps to install cook ROM, please help me

These are my steps to install a cook ROM:
I have the Android 2.1 and it never rooted. So to install cook ROM, i will:
1.1>Format my SD to FAT32, Make a goldcard (using GoldCardTool_0.0.5) for it. (So it will generate specific folders into SD, right).
1.2>Root my phone
1.3>Install a suitable Radio on SD. *
1.4>Install cook ROM
1.5>Start my Desire for the first time in new ROM. Install ROM Manager from Market.
1.6>Do Partition SD to Ext2,3,4... by using ROM Manager for A2SD,... (right?) *
1.7>If i want to comeback to the ship ROM, i will downgrade ROM
Are these steps correctly?
I wonder how to:
+ Install Radio: Which place i will install? Do i need any app to do it?
+ Do partition SD: When do it? Before or after installing new cook ROM?
Thanks for your helps
You have got it correct mostly.
1.6 If you are installing a ROM which has A2SD+ (This is different from google's 2.2 A2SD), then you need to have your SD card partitioned to ext3 before flashing the ROM. There are two kinds with A2SD+
a. ROMs which have A2SD implemented -> for this ext3 partition has to be present in the sd card before flashing the rom
b. some ROMS are flashable without A2SD+, and after booting for the first time, you can flash A2SD+ as an add on. In this case, before flashing it, you can partition the sd card with rom manager
1.7 If you want to revert to the custom rom, flashing an RUU is the easiest way. Ensure you have a proper RUU so that you can get back to stock if necessary.
1.3 Again, some ROMS comses with radio as part of it. So flashing the radio separately is not required. Check the rom createators description/changelog for it.
And immediately after rooting with unrevoked 3.21 do a nandroid back up and save a copy of that back up in your PC since partitioning the card will wipe all data in it.
Well you are almost right about all the steps
>To install the Radio first you have to download the latest radio
here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464
copy it to your root folder of your sdcard , and using Rom manger Boot into recovery or else switch off the phone hold the upper volume button ad power on the devise and
enter in to the recovery mode ,,
>Once you are in the recovery mode browse the radio .zip file from the memory card and press yes
>it will get installed in a moment ,,and reboot the devise now be patient it will take a while..and several reboots..!
>Partitioning the sd card is your choice you can do it in recovery mode using clockwork recovery or else use rom manager to do this ,,select min 512mb.
do it after you install the rom and use A2sd to install apps to sd card.
Thanks alot. I'm using Official Froy now, and will try to root my Desire when the time is coming (I still scare to break down the mobile ).
Ah, if i want to root my Desire, do i need to comeback the stock Android 2.1?

Phone keeps restarting...

k i have a Evo 4g and i was flasing a rom and now the rom doesnt load... just the lockscreen apears then the phone restarts....i did a nandroid back up and tried to restore the back up and same thing happens...

First of all, go back into recovery and wipe everything in the wipe menu except the SD card and then flash a 'rooted' stock rom (whether ODEX or DE-ODEXED is irrelevant). A link is in my signature. If you can successfully flash a stock rom then it is safe to assume that your current rom is corrupted somehow. Also, what radios & kernel are you using with your current rom? Are they compatible?
i almost feel like when the rom tries to read the sd card it restart..... i did switch sd card same problem

Try downloading and flashing the Synergy rom. It is almost the equivalent of the one you were trying to flash. Let us know if you are successful or not. Disregard my previous post for now, please.

It could be and that is why I always suggest a re-partitioning & re-Formatting of SD cards from time to time. Do you happen to have an ext4 partition set up on your card?

If you are unable to install any other roms, then yes, back up the contents of your card and then, especially if your recovery is amonRA v2.3, re-partition it while in recovery. You should see 'Partition SD card' in the recovery's menu. You will be asked to set a size for the SWAP, ext2 and FAT. If you want to simply have use of the entire card as a FAT, enter 0 for the SWAP & the ext2 partition. If you have lots of 3rd party apps and you plan on installing a rom like Synergy or it's equivalent, you may want to set up an ext3 partition. If you plan to use a Synergy-like rom, I 'suggest' you set up an ext3 partition in this manner:
0 for SWAP
either 1024 or 2048 for the ext2
the rest for FAT and after the process is complete, select 'upgrade ext2 to ext3'. All of this is done from within recovery.
Afterwards, go to the wipe menu and wipe everything in it including the card. Then copy a freshly downloaded copy of the rom you want to use and then flash it.
i tried that.... now the sd card dont want to mount or format... and Synergy rom is doing the same thing it boots to the lock screen the reboots..
If it were me, at this point, I would run the RUU for your phone and then click on this link and follow my guide.

by ruu do you mean 3.70.651.1 PC36IMG.ZIP and do i flash it in recovery or hboot?

Baron, are you still S-OFF? If you are and if you don't think you need to re-flash your recovery, then I agree with HipKat that you need to flash the ruu. If your hboot version is 2.02/2. 10 then yes, flash the ruu with software 3.70.. If you have a Windows computer, you can download the exe version, connect your device to your pc and then run the exe. You can download either version from the link in my signature.
Posting & replying from my EVO 4G
i am still s-off... with h-boot v 2.10.0001
and im download exe version of RUU_SuperSonic_S_Sprint_WWE_3.70.651.1_Radio_2.15. 00.11.19_NV_1.90_release_161482_signed.exe now... get back to you soon
If the .exe version doesn't work, then give the PC36IMG version a try. I've used that one and it works well.
i run the app and its giving usb connection error at what state does my phone have to be it for this to work?? im in recovery mode right now... htc recovery..

Yep. Make sure it's called PC36IMG.zip and when you boot to Hboot and it does it's scan and asks if you want to update, say yes.
Be ready to flash recovery right after that, btw, so you'll have to get the PC36IMG for recovery on your disk after Hboot Runs RUU. Just let it boot up, if it will and then try to connect to your computer, and swap out the PC36IMG's
i flashed the ruu then Amon_RA-supersonic-v2.3 recovery and it just does the same thing boots to look screen after a few secs it reboots. and sometimes it get stuck at a black screen and green blinking light.. then i have to pull the battery...

Stuck on Why So Serious ?

I tried twice to flash the new roms with all this partitions ... and twice got into trouble (tuck on logo , soft brick - like that).
How do i install it right ?
this is what i did:
1. S-OFF
2. Flash Bravo Stock HBOOT img
3. Create partitions
4. Full wipe
5. Flashed the LeeDroid 3.3.1 HD
And got stuck on the joker screen.
Twice !!!
Why is that?
Why did you flash stock hboot after you S-OFF? You was stock prior to S-OFF process lol.
Try to flash CM7 hboot and then flash leedroid data++ version.
If you will still get stuck on booting means you did something wrong with SD partitioning.
Sent with smoke signals.
Once again...
Always check md5 no matter what you flash. Just do it
...aes eht rednu
peed morf tneS
OK, so the SD partitions are Fat32 X (all the rest) GB and EXT3 1024MB ?
then i flash the CM7 hboot, after i flashed it, i need to restore the nandroid backup ?
then wipe everything and install ..?
Correct except restoring nandroid backup. Just flash from 0 after full wipe.
Sent with smoke signals.
OK it worked .
But i want to use other SD card, how to i switch between them ?
Do i need to install the ROM again from 0 ?

If you want to move it to another SD Card:
1. Make a Nandroid backup in recovery
2. Move Nandroid from SD to PC
3. Insert new card, copy the backup from PC to new SD
4. Go into recovery and restore the backup
Just remember to repartition new sd card, if you forget to create ext partition you end up with bootloop.
If you are not scared to work with linux:
1.) Connect your phone to your computer and unmout sd card
2.) Put new sd card in your computer
3.) Create the partitions on the new card, you have on the old. For example you have one fat and one ext. Create fat at first, then ext (both primary)
4.) Copy the content of the corresponding partitions from the old to the new sd card.
5.) Insert new card in your desire and you are done.

Thank you, everything works now.
The windows steps worked for me.

[Q] Phone stuck at boot screen

I was just using my phone and for some reason my browser crashed. it just crashes upon startup, so i decided to restart seeing if it would do any good. and then my phone wouldn't get past the boot splash screen...(the alpharev joker boot image)
Desire GSM rooted, S-off
clockworkmod recovery v5.0.2.0
im not exactly sure what rom i'm running but it's a mod of the normal one.
i'm assuming my phone still has some hope because the recovery is working( at least it boots, i havent tried anything else yet) and i dont think i can bring it to a shop..
i searched around and apparently i should wipe the data and format and everything, then fresh install a new rom?(im thinking cyanogen this time, with partitioning my sd card...)
so:
- do i erase everything, and do a fresh install?
-my sd card is already partitioned, if i need to "join" it back before i partition with cyanogen, how should i do this?
-is it safe to do the fresh install with only the files (lets say a zip) and nothing else in the card?
thanks u_u
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions &

Moving to Q&A
- do i erase everything, and do a fresh install?
if the recovery is working u can flash a new rom yes
-my sd card is already partitioned, if i need to "join" it back before i partition with cyanogen, how should i do this?
i dont think you need to join the sd card back but i think some recoveries have the option to partition sd from there
you could also use a card reader and partition it on the pc
-is it safe to do the fresh install with only the files (lets say a zip) and nothing else in the card?
yes if the recovery works you can just flash as usual, remember to clean caches etc before flashing new rom else u often get a boot loop
if you change to 4ext recovery you can check and re-align partitions on you SD card with it, it also seems much better for partitioning you card than using windows which can cause problems. Do a quick search 4ext has its own thread. Has a few other really useful features to like USB unbrick.
