Hey im having a problem ive got 2.2 but it seems like its an old build, here is the info:
Android version
2.2
Baseband version
32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20
Kernel version
2.6.32.15-gf9c0527
Software number
2.09.405.8
Browser version
WebKit 3.1

It was originally branded with Virgin, but I have unbranded it, then updated to 2.2, now how would I be able to get OTA updates when they are out, without flashing every update on.
The phone should've picked up the 2.09.405.2 to 2.10.405.2 OTA and then the new one after that. You would need a gold card at ALL times as all updates will need it
Go to Settings>System software updates and press 'Check now' and see what happens
It says there are no updates available for my phone. :S
1. Download this:
http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_HTC_EU_2.10.405.2-2.09.405.8_releaseol2djq7rqarka2ka.zip
2. Rename it update.zip (not update.zip.zip)
3. Copy it to the root of your SD card
4. Turn off phone and turn it back on holding volume down
5. Select recovery
6. Once on the screen with the ! hold volume up and press power
7. Select apply SD:update.zip and follow the instructions
You will need to use your gold card to do this
Will this erase the phone?
No as it's an OTA, just manually installed
Is this the latest OTA update?
No, but you have to do them in order. Once this has been done you should then get the latest OTA (2.29.405.2) once rebooted
Where would I get that one from, as it is still not doing the automatic update. Says there are no updates found.
So you've done the first one?
If you have, and you're not getting the new update either wait as it's gradual or get it here and do the same thing as before:
http://fotadl.htc.com/OTA_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.29.405.2-2.10.405.2_R_P_release8gn61bgo3rswcw24.zip
Thank you very much for your help, I am now on the latest Android build
Could not make it (prepared separate gold card) - stuck with get_prop error 7. Any ideas how to overcome this problem?

DO NOT OTA update while you are rooted!
Download this, install and you have official FroYo
Thanks for the info as the phone is unlocked and rooted is it still on Orange?

Nope, you're stuffed until someone works out how to break in to the new HBoot, which may be soon, or may be never.
You should have read the forums first.

hi guys please help me i am pulling my hair out, I have a htc desire from germany via a parrelell importer, i recently tried updating to froyo ota my phone is unbranded and not rooted, how ever now when i start it i get a message saying system failure force close/wait, i have made a gold card, and placed roms on etc but it doesnt seem to reconize them on sd card and says signature failure, also before that while in reocvery it comes up with e:cant open /cache/recovery/command,
im at a dead end please some one help me i will love u long time!
I think you Desire is unbranded, can you use sim cards from different carriers?
If yes no goldcard is needed
I would like to get back to stock 2.1 non-rooted on my Droid Incredible.
I had upgraded my radio to 2.x and flashed the leaked 2.2 rom. No major issues , but am not able to "##778", nor use 'native usb tether'.
Anyway upgrade was done just because had a rush of blood - just to prove to myself "Gone there - Done that"
Sense has prevailed again, to wait for the official 2.2 OTA. Is it safe to go back (kindly suggest the right steps), if so is the following procedure the right one
copy "PB31IMG.zip" to SD Card and 'reboot to recovery' ( is it safe to do this, as it was mentioned that "applying radio twice will result in a brick".
thanks and regards
ananth
You can do that downgrade like that, but it keeps your current radio intact. It wont apply the radio because CWM can't apply the radio itself.
IS THERE ANY problem with the radio being intact and not changing
I dont think there would be a problem....except getting pushed the offical OTA update

following the link androidforums.com/all-things-root-incredible/123816-how-revert-back-earlier-version-hboot.html,I've downgraded to stock 2.1-update1 and Baseband version 1.00.03.04.06, but my hboot version is not downgraded and is still .79. Can I upgrade to 2.2 when OTA comes, or should I try some other method to downgrade hboot.
Everything happens as per the link mentioned above till the point where it asks to run code 'fastboot devices'. On running fastboot devices the silver HTC logo appears and then nothing happens. As mentioned in the link I deleed everything from the 'temp' folder and started RUU again, copied the extracted files to another location and updated 'adb','fastboot''adbwinapi.dll'.
On running 'ARUWizard' it throws 'low battery error'. On exiting , handset restarts.
Now I renamed the extracted 'rom.zip' file as 'PB31IMG' and copied to sdcard root. After this on rebooting to recovery mode I got back to stock 2.1 with downgraded radio, but hboot did not downgrade.
Kindly advice if anything needs to be done

anantharaman
A lot of people on this forum are following the "Orange UK Froyo 2.2 upgrade date released" thread, which has turned into a bit of a guide to debranding/slagging off Orange thread.
Anyway, the ONLY point of this thread is for people to subscribe to the thread (use the "Thread tool">>"Subscribe to this thread" at the top of the page) so that when Orange finally release the 1.15.61.10 to 1.22.61.1 update, people can reply to this thread. That way as soon as someone replies (that the update is available) everyone that is not clever enough to write a script can get an email notification that the update is available.
So, please only post a comment here if you get the update (not the 2.2 update).
good idea
still a waiting game thou
Also still waiting..
Got my brown Desire with 1.15 software in February. Still have 1.15. I'm on a 24 month plan so can't afford to void the warranty.
Pretty poor service form Orange that although one of the first to recieve the phone, it looks like I'll be one of the last to be able to use my device to it's full potential with Froyo.
http://blog.gamermatrix.co.uk/?p=194
If you want the update to install manually, no need for nandroid backups etc, but I dont know anyone who has tried this.
That is an old and redundant thread, and nothing to do with this one...
I have had my phone about 3 months so must have been one of the last ones with 1.15...
I agree with all the above - the service from Orange regarding this upgrade has been diabolical - this is an incremental upgrade which was pushed out on other networks months ago. If it wasn't for the stupid and unnecessary Orange applications and game demos, it would have been a simple and easy OTA upgrade which would have left us ready for 2.2
They don't even NEED this pre-requisite, Vodafone released 2 versions of the 2.2 OTA - one for those on 1.19.161.x and one for those on 1.24.161.x so anyone could update.
Orange have really messed up here

We have an update from HTC regarding 1.22 and Froyo.
'Sorry for the late response.
We will finish the FOTA testing by the end of today.
If everything is smooth, End user will get the update ROM from “1.15.61.10” to ”1.22.61.1” start from midnight.
I will keep you posted for the final testing result.
Sorry for the inconvenience.'
i just checked manually and i have been offered the upgrade

Just checked and I've been able to download and its installing now
Direct link for manual flashing:
http://liveimage.htc.com//OTA_Bravo...61.1_R-1.15.61.10_releasewj7ctoapvmrkdk44.zip
To manually install:
1. Rename file update.zip (not update.zip.zip)
2. Copy to root of SD card
3. Reboot phone into HBOOT (hold down volume down and press power)
4. Select 'Recovery' and when at the red ! hold volume up and press power
5. Select 'apply SD:update.zip'
6. Follow instructions
Is there anyway to install this on a rooted phone? As I keep on getting an error when trying to install :/
Just downloaded the update. will check to see if the 2.2 update is sent after this has installed. looks like orange werent being truthful when they said not everyone can get the update at the same time!
Downloading now! Woohoooo

No, you need stock
So I can't actually ever unroot this phone/get the update unless the Orange RUU is leaked or debrand and get the other FroYo update. Is there no way to fake flash stock recovery?
Downloading 2.2 now...manual check after installing 1.22
Oo I have just got 1.22.61.1 installed
EDIT: Even better the phone is now unrooted

Nice one. How come it went wrong before? Did you do something different?
Yea I chose install but i got a not verified error. I then went into the install from SD and turned verification off. I then went back into the main menu and pressed apply update.zip and it finally worked. I checked recovery after and it was back to stock
I got the notification this morning, and (since I'm S-Off) assumed I could just install the OTA and re-root (flash Clockwork, install SU). The OTA went through the download > verify > reboot dialogue, but froze up on the reboot step so I just rebooted it manually, expecting to have to re-run the updater. Oddly enough, I haven't gotten the update notice again, despite multiple shut downs/reboots.
TL;DR - Do I need to have the stock Froyo ROM installed for the OTA to succeed?
You do need to have the stock recovery, which is likely why it failed during the reboot. If you really want to receive the OTA, it's probably easiest to just flash the stock 2.2 RUU.
no, for two reasons.
1. assuming you are on a custom rom, your phone is rooted, and root often blocks the update.
2. in order to get gb on the rom, they need to new kernal...or a re-worked one, ginger sense and the two senseless roms already have it. yanked em from the ruu.

Thanks, that's exactly what I thought. I'm not sure why I'm so eager to install it, I just think it'd be nice to take it for a test drive before reverting to SkyRaider/Cyanogen/whatever my flashing-heart desires

So I need an non-rooted ROM (stock Froyo..) to install the update (I understand I don't need it to install a version of GB, I was referring to the stock GB update that just got pushed out). Thanks for also confirming my suspicions
Novice Rooted incredible Unrevoked3
I have been scouring forums and have only found bits and pieces of how I should handle the Gingerbread upgrade to my rooted Inc. I am rooted with Unrevoked3 NOT Forever. I really only use root for Wireless Tether and TIBackup. What should I do if I am prompted for the upgrade to my phone? What is the process and will my phone get pushed the update. Essentially, I would like the Gingerbread update, reamain rooted so I don't loose the Wireless Tether.
Should I apply the update then go back to Unrevoked? I here people say that I should install Unrevoked Forever then flash 2.2 apply the update then i guess I can use unrevoked 3 again? Is there a step by step how to guide to handle this. I am really confused and afraid off messing something up.
Thank you in advance.
If you were prompted for the update it would fail unless you have s-on and the stock recovery.
Just flash one of the OTA leak roms in the dev section if you want to try stock gingerbread. In the event you choose to return to complete non-root status and update to Verizon's gingerbread OTA, you will not be able to root again until (or if) Unrevoked finds another root exploit.

Not exactly true you dont have to be s-on, actually you dont want to ever go s-on for any reason unless you are under waranty and need to take it to verizon. Flashing an update to gb while s-on will make you loose root possibly forever.
You do need to be compleet stock to run an update including all bloatware still installed.
The update still may be on your phone in the /cache directory look for a zip file with vzw and a bunch of numbers in the name. Copy it to your sd card and rename it update.zip and reboot into hboot to install the update.
Or you can just flash this it is compleet stock gb 4.06.605.3 other than being rooted deodexed and busybox installed.

Touché, I stand corrected haha
can't get past 4.06.605.2
OK, I have been reading up all I can find about going from 2.2 to 2.3.4 on Incredible. I was able to download the 4.06.605.2 build and got it to install on my phone, but I can't seem to get any of the 4.06.605.3 to install. I am not sure if I did something wrong. I have also tried to get the OTA by going to system updates but nothing there. Any ideas that I can try?
Also I noticed something odd under Hardware Information it thinks my display is 4.3 inch WVGA resolution but everything seems to show up right on the screen, nothing gets cut off.
This is what my phone shows under Software Information

If your still rooted just flash the rom in the above post. If not reroot and install it. It is pure stock and the screen size info was fixed.
I was able to put 2.3.4, 4.06.605.2 on my Droid with S-ON and no root, at least I never rooted it myself and as far as I knew it was brand new when I purchased it from Verizon. So I am going to have to find out how to root then. Never quite understood how to do it, although when I was with ATT I was able to put custom roms on my Pure and Fuse. I am assuming there is a thread for rooting?

Well if you are stock as you say just download the below file, rename it update.zip and stick it on your sd card not in any folders. Then go to settings/manage applications and make sure fastboot is unchecked. Then power off your phone. Then hold the vol down button while pressing and holding power till a white screen pops up. It should automaticly find the update.zip and install the update.

I guess the link went down. here is a new one. With this file you will not have to rename it anything just delete the old one you put on your sd and replace it with this one and try again.
http://dinc.does-it.net/update.zip
I downloaded the Froyo Stock Rom for the Inc 2, renamed it PG32IMG.zip and put it in the root of my SD Card.
I rebooted the phone, holding the power and volume down buttons.
The phone sees the file and starts the process.
After a minute, I get the message "Main Version is older! Update Fail! Press <POWER> to reboot.
I am already on HBOOT-0.97.0000
The phone is not rooted and currently running Android 2.3.3, Software # 2.18.605.3
As crazy as it sounds, ultimately I'm trying to get to the latest stock version from Verizon but software update isn't seeing any OTA updates.
Which leads me to 2 questions:
1) Am I doing something wrong?
2) Can I get the latest Verizon version 5.10.605.9
Many thanks in advance........
Froyo isn't the latest version for this device. Gingerbread is

You can flash this even with S-ON.
You get the main version error because the .zip you are trying to flash is currently older than what you have currently. This one poasted, will give you HBoot .98 too
Information came from here: http://rootzwiki.com/topic/18873-ruu-htc-incredible-2-signed-ruus-pg32imgzip-sticky/
Thanks!....
Any insight why the phone wouldn't see any of the OTA Updates? All I got was the phone was up to date
HTC Tech Support had me dial #*#*CHECKIN#*#* (may have gotten the *'s and #'s backwards in this post).
The Checkin was successful but the phone still didn't see any updates.
Strange?
Thanks again!!!
mine did the same thing. would not receive the update. the method above worked for me. thanks
Link is broke no dl there
