ROM radio question

Hi everybody,
The HTC triumph who should be the same phone as the HTC desire will be release in a few week I was wondering if i update the Rom radio of my desire with one in the HTC triumph, is it allow me to have access to 3g . Indeed the only difference between the 2 phone are the 3g frequencies.
Thanks for your answers.

first of all i highly doubt it, porting radios over sounds like brick heaven to me, more importantly why on earth would you want to do that?
Hi,
I used to live in France and I bought a HTC Desire there.
I moved to canada and the my phone works well except I can only use Edge. I checked the specs and I saw the frequencies are different between french operators and canadian ones. (I also have a HTC Kaiser who works well on the 2 networks, I do not understand why....)
So I am wondering if there is any solution to make HTC Desire working with 3g here or am I stuck with Edge ? It is not a big problem but it is a little bit slow.
Thanks for your help
I think you're talking about 850mhz vs 900mhz? If so, (and someone correct me if I'm wrong here) it's a matter of hardware, so there's really nothing you can do about it. :/

Best to install the latest Radio Update from the Android Development section and see if that is any better, flashing the Radio from a different ROM IS a fast route to bricking

Yes it exactly my problem.
So I will try latest Rom as you suggest. I hoped this was a matter of drivers not hardware
Thanks for your help.

You should have a look at the official xda wiki page for motorola defy.
There you have an overview of all the stock and custom roms + the android version they are.

[Q] Fastest and most stable ROM?

Hey guys,
I'm from the Galaxy Nexus forums, coming over here for some advice. My girlfriend has a Telstra (Australia) branded HTC Wildfire S. I know this is generally frowned upon, but I'd like to ask this question.
What is the most stable and fastest ROM for the Wildfire S? My GF is in no way a technology guru, so it has to be stable and have NO/MINIMAL lag. Her current ROM (stock) is so slow that it's not funny.
I was looking at CyanogenMod, due to the fact it doesn't have the Sense bloat on top of GB.
Cheers guys!
I personally prefer cyanogenmod because its light , fast and can be tweaked a lot [and is stable].
Dont forget to unlock the bootloader first.

prefer cm7 (the stable one and not the nightly builds..)
and for that you wil have to unlock the boot loader, install cwm recovery..

You can hit that thanks button
Yeah, I'd say that Cyanogen is the best choice. Just so you know, there's a very easy to follow guide to installing CM7 right here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538035

[Q] Desire HD - Returning to Stock from CM7(!)

As per the title, could someone walk me through what would be required to return my old DHD to stock?
It's Rooted, S-off'd and running CM7. I really can't remember any of the processes involved in installing firmware on the DHD, it's been so long since I did it that my memory fails me, I'm more familiar with the samsung devices now.
Thanks, Dave.

Hi Marknoll,
I've not had a chance to have a really good look yet, I couldn't immediately find any thread I thought was 100% relevant to returning to stock from a custom OS though.
I guess I will have to extract the firmware from the RUU and flash it from the SD card?
Not been feeling up to doing much with this at the minute as I'm pretty ill, this is why I could do with a mini walkthrough if possible.
Thanks, Dave.
