HTC Evo 4g on Bell Mobility - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

Hello
So I managed to get my HTC Evo on Bell, I can make calls and send text messages, however I have no data connectivity. I have been trying to search forums and read up on how to solve this but I have not been able to find a solution yet. The phone seems to be stuck on Mobile Network "Turning On" forever.
The phone is NAND unlocked and rooted I have the Home SID/NID set to 16420 and 65535 like they should be for bell. The MCC is 302 for Canada. The MNC appears to be problematic though, as bell's CDMA is on MNC 651 but I can only enter 2 characters on the EPST settings for MNC? If anyone knows the settings I need to use to get this working on Bell I would be willing to compensate them for their effort since I have an unlimited data plan with Bell right now that I am missing out on !
Thank you
I have also started getting the Data Call Failure + Voicemail errors after getting my phone on bell.

I am in the same boat, I have spent over 10hrs. working on this. The MNC is 64 {640 truncated to 64}.
If you have any more success let me know please.
The problem for me lies in the m.ip settings.

Guys did you try posting in the Evo section? there might someone who can help or you could ask the Bell CS to help you configure it,
here is some i found, let me know if its helpful, its for telus, but you could follow instructions tho
http://cytraxtech.blogspot.com/2010/10/how-to-program-your-htc-evo-to-work-on.html

hmm well i set the MNC to the correct value.... i guess the only way to fix this is to actually go to the bell store and get them to give me all the info for the network.... but that presents a problem as the evo is known as an omnia on my account ;p

Call them lol, tell them your phone got messed up

Wondering if you can help me out getting my evo working on telus (Talk/text). Its unlocked. Im trying to zero out MEID/ESN (which is what i was told i need to do) .. Been trying for a while and still no luck!
Im desperate .. and would really appreciate the help!
Thanks

jmathieu2 the only way you can get your phone to work... is if you already have a cdma phone from telus so that you have a meid in their database to work with. then you have to zero out your evos meid and change it to the other phones meid,
you need htc diag drivers, cdma workshop full* costs $100, qxdm, and qpst and a lot of luck : -D i can do it for you if you live in the toronto or kingston area

The MNC 640 is
640 Bell Bell Mobility Operational UMTS 850 / UMTS 1900
651 Bell Bell Mobility Operational CDMA 800 / CDMA 1900
this is what we need for the evo so how do we enter 651 when we only have 2 characters space!

Here's my update
Using ##debug
under EVDO Engineering I have AN/AAA Authenticated, however, I have no IP
Getting Error 67 pretty regularly
I know the profiles are setup differently when comparing under QPST, on the EVO verses the TP2 for instance. The EVO seems to require using Profile 1 as the default, whereas the TP2 uses Profile 2.
I need to understand the mapping to the different profiles and how Bell uses them.. Bell uses MIP.1x.bell.ca and Services.1x.Bell.ca.
I assume MIP would be used to acquire the IP, based on the name, but I am having no luck at this. been a while now. frustrated doesn't begin to describe it.
I know someone who was succesful on telus, using 220 (22) for the MNC, and since it works for him I am going to use 640 (64) which is the same UMTS 850 / UMTS 1900, I know the phone is an 800/1900, but.....
I updated my build.prop as outlined on Program Evo for Telus
Anyone else have any luck on Bell, or have any insights on my questions?

Thanks for the reply. However I am not in the area About 8-9 hours north.
I do have a telus cdma phone currently (Blackberry curve 8330)
I have all the tools except I am not using the full version of cdma workshop.
I have already zero'ed our 9 MEID numbers and then re scanned the memory but not finding anything. I'm wondering If i might be scanning the wrong memory locations?!
evo has 2 readable ranges
0x00fa0000 - 00ff0000 ( 500000 bytes)
0x01080000 - 0x01D70000 ( 13500000 bytes)
Are the locations im scanning in CDMA ws under memory tab - Memory / Eeprom section. Then I open the output .bin file and search for my MEID number .. etc!
My phone is baseband 2.15.00.09.01 / Hardware version 0004
If you could PM me or give me some tips for scanning memory to find the MEID/ESN's to zero that would be great.

there are more ranges if you have 2.2
only thing i can really say is you just go into qxdm and 0 out the meid and reboot the phone and if its all 0 then you did it right... some of them are hard to see when trying to 0 it out make sure you didnt miss anything

I think its my scans in cdma ws that are incorrect.
I scanned memory location 00F9:8000 and 0107:C000 and found most MEID there and used 2 addresses i found online and found 2 more ..
Just not sure where to scan in cdma ws to find more.

Was there anything special you did you get it to get authenticated?
Am working on a Hero, but don't think it should make a difference. I've re-checked all the passwords, just can't seem to figure out why it won't connect.

What carrier are you with?

Also Bell. The only thing I see is the PRI is different, and did not know how/if to change it.

I have never gotten ANY data connection.
If you have 1x, can you please tell me your setup. I believe my problem is in the profiles in QPST. Not sure when to use services.1x.bell.ca, when to use 3g.1x.bell.ca etc. Also, what is your Donor phone? Mine is an HTC Touch, so ESN only, no MEID.
as far as PRL, I am using 31402

Fusion600,
I am researching this before I buy an EVO. I won't bother if I can't get a data connection.
I have my HTC touch 6900 running Android 2.2 It is using MCC/MNC of 310620 and I get data, so i don't think it really matters as long as the ESN is registered with Bell.
Have you made any further progress getting data working? Anyone risk calling Bell? or having them refresh your programming?

I have asked a few bell kiosk and have called in for help. There employees all seem to want to help but dont seem to know how to. I have now managed to get txt and calls to work from doing a little research. I will ask again and see if they can help now with providing some details about setting up data connections. will post if success.

any progess on this?? any one?? msg here or pm me thanks im tying to figure out the data stuff as well for bell

Sorry to bump an old thread, but any news on this? I have an Evo 3D from Rogers and want to bring it to Bell/Virgin mobile. I unlocked it for 8$ from a website for sim unlocking. I get calls and txts but same thing as you guys, no data >.<

Any progress on unlocking (changing MSL) on Harrier?

Has anyone been able to modify the MSL on the Harrier/PPC6600/XV6600 yet?
My unit was on a prepaid Sprint account and I would like to activate it on a Verizon account.
Thanks!
I can change the MSL on the Harrier.
however It may or may not work for you, I dont think Im allowed to post that info due to confidentiality stuff.
so dont pm me, and I wont reply with something to try.
cheers.
I have the same issue. I have a Harrier/PPC6600 from Sprint and I want to use it on my Canadian CDMA provider. My provider will not have a problem with the ESN# being clean, but the phone needs to be unlocked to use their PRL. I'm checking with the carrier to see if they can do it or if they purchase their phones elsewhere. If the carrier can do it, great - otherwise I also need a way to unlock the phone.
Thanks

see how rhauff gets along,
if it works for him im sure he'll be able to point you in the right direction.
the other thing to try is a bit of social engineering and ring sprint, ask to speak to there Corporate team and just explain to them that the company you work has a couple of harriers and you want to swap the numbers and could they please send the reprogramming details to you via email,
then explain you will ring the back as soon as the devices get to you (as they are currently in transit) and once you have changed the numbers on them.
it will work.. trust me.
Inane, you are just full of good ideas! I'm still waiting for the battery so I can try the reprogramming, it'll probably be next week before that happens. I will let you guys know how it works out though!
Finally got the batteries last weekend, ordered them from 2mangoes on Ebay and got them direct from China! They seem to be good, perfect fit and last about as expected.
Thanks for your help inane, I did use the MSL access code quite a bit. I think it is safe to post here, I have seen it listed, have not seen it forbidden and it is all over pdaphonehome.com.
Here are my result, this is a copy of my post on pdaphonehome.com:
Well, I had searched and didn't find any success on this. I posed the question hoping somebody had solved this but hadn't posted it yet.
Anyway, I was able to switch this over (only partially at the moment!) using the existing Sprint MSL. A Verizon MSL of 000000 would only be required to do OTA programming (PRL & network info).
My procedure was as follows:
1. Program the PPC6600 with Verizon's radio ROM to support their EVDO PRL.
2. Using ##775#, load Verizon's PRL 50430.prl.
3. Using ##MSL#, change Mobile number (MDN) and MSID. I used my mobile number as the MSID, which I think is correct.
4. Using ##778#, under MSL settings, I changed the SID/NID to 26 which is Verizon's ID for the Mpls/St. Paul market. I don't know if this step was required. As I understand it, Verizon may ignore this, not sure.
Ok, that's pretty much it. Called in and had the ESN activated on my account. They REQUIRED me to put a data plan on, I went with the $0.015/Kb.
Anyway, outbound calling works fine, but inbound lands at my voice mail. Txt messaging no go yet, and no Internet. I did enter my username [email protected] and password=vzw, and set DNS addresses, but still need to get a proper IP for PHA and SHA (still have Sprint's numbers).
Any ideas on what I need to change to make inbound calling to work?
EDIT*************************
OK, solved the outbound (long time ago, actually). I set roaming to HO, home only. Now in and out bound work great. I got data connection working by setting, under 3GDATA1, to "No IP".

How about i-mate pda2k evdo, is this setting work fine on this PDA?
Sorry, can't help you with that. I've only worked on the HTC Harrier.
After you entered the ##775#, it asks for an unlock code. Where to you get the unlock code it is looking for?

EVO Up on alltel, little help?

So, Got a sprint EVO for cheap. Sprint had the ESN flagged on sprint network because the owner of the phone's account hasn't been paid. Sold the phone to me, I restored it to factory default, running latest stock 2.2.
Steps taken to get to where I am now:
Used CDMA workshop (licensed 3.5.5) to read the SPC code, rewrote the spc code to 000000. I put an Alltel PRL file on the sd card, same one as my mother's Alltel Hero. Rooted the phone using revoked windows app, replaced the EPST.apk with the older version to allow ##775# (prl change), applied my PRL. Activated the phone on alltel, no problem at all getting it activated.
Call text working great... THEN... using CDMA Workshop, in the EVDO tab (similar function in QPST would be the PPP tab) and entered the HDR user name/pass, in alltel's case, UM is [email protected]/alltel and AN is [email protected]/HEXESN. Set under M.IP to have Simple IP only (read that this will fix the "data call failure" errors) Set profile 0 as active and changed the values to what looks to be the same from the Alltel Hero of my mothers only with my cell number in the fields. Set all nam values such as channels, MCC, etc.. correct, flashed. I then edited the telephony.db to alltel's MMS settings.
Phone's current state, what works, what doesnt..
3G is working great, MMS works perfectly, calling is perfect, SMS is perfect...
1X doesn't work AT ALL:
if I enter an area i KNOW 3G doesn't exist, it doesnt switch to 1X like my eris that i programmed to alltel did, just drops data completely if there's no 3G...
I don't seem to get the Data Call Failure message much at all up until I try to run the "wireless tether" app, it pops up like CRAZY and 3G disconnects every time it pops up.
Phone says I'm roaming constantly, I know I have the latest smartphone PRL for my area and MCC codes etc in the nam are set EXACT to my mothers htc alltel hero and hers doesnt report roaming at all... what gives??? Maybe this is the cause of all my problems...
##DEBUG# screen > EVDO, at the bottom, says AUTHENTICATED and I have an IP address, stays solid like that in a 3g area.
Anyone like to help me out? What values do I may have incorrect for 1X to entirely not work at all but 3G works just fine??.. Being that 1X doesnt work, it seems to cause issues sometimes initializing a connection because it seems like 3G goes dormant/sleep after a while and maybe relies on 1X to be connected to keep a constant connection to the network. And.. this whole Data call failure thing is just obnoxious? Anyone truly find the result to this? Obviously has something to do with sprint, 4G is turned off, all the sprint .APK's are removed.
Being that the phone still has sprint options in Mobile Network Settings such as "Roaming" "Data roaming" etc.. could this be causing problems? How do I go about removing ALL of sprints network options on this phone???
thanks a whole lot... excited to see this phone working on the alltel network, would like to press on and get it working flawlessly.
Hey Steve I remember you from over at HoFo. Your Eris info helped me out getting some of my own issues worked out. I am still interested in what work you did to get your mms working in and out. I looked at the telephony.db once but didn't place a lot of effort in to it. So as it stands I get incoming but unable to send mms. So any insight from you would be greatly appreciated. But I will try and see if I can help you with what you have going on.
First I found that programming the Evo was more of a pain than when I did the HTC DInc on Alltel. In my area PRL 31005 is pushed to Alltel smart phones. It is the same PRL I used on the DInc with no issues. The Evo would insist that I was roaming with it. I switched to a non-divested PRL(30057) and haven't had an issue since. Google "answerman prl" for the download for Alltel PRLs. I have rocked with that PRL for over 3 months now. My roaming option is set for automatic in the mobile network settings and the only other thing I have checked there is data roaming, which I can disable with no problem.
Now if you go back to your HoFo thread I wrote that when I got the Evo I only had 1X data. It wasn't until after I went back over your thread and some other stuff that I managed to get 3G working. I used CDMA workshop(3.6.0 Licenced) And wrote the same things as you did. Only I have Mobile + Simple IP set and profile 1. Now I will say this. First I tried to set to profile 0 but when going into ##DATA#, the phone would always insist it wanted to use profile 1 even after having previously writing the data. So I created another profile in CDMA workshop, duplicated the data I had for 0 and made 1 active instead of 0. I had also previously never had issues with the "Data call failure" until the past month or two. After I rooted and moved from the stock rom I used CM6 for a good while even flashing nightlies and never had a problem. I only moved back to a Sense based rom when I was trying to troubleshoot an issue where my data would disconnect and would not re-establish for several minutes or until after a reboot. I was using juice defender at the time and incidently this was also around the time I updated my radio/PRI etc. So when I went to a random Sense rom this error message threw me off and I was sure something was wrong with the phone. But I have seen plenty of posts about it so idk. I run Myn's Warm 2.2 now. On rls1 I would get the DCF's frequently but not so much on rls 2, maybe once in a blue moon. I don't use juice defender anymore and I have also stopped using Set CPU as it conflicts with my current kernel anyway. *shrug* So no idea what truely makes the phone happy and not give me that error as much.
Hope this helps you.
Wow, that was a MESSAGE.
Thanks a whole lot for that.
For MMS:
When I use anycut to access the APN's on my Evo it shows it shows no apn's at all. I didn't add any and left it alone. Now...
I have attached the telephony.db file I edited with Root Explorer and SQL Lite editor. If you open the file in the editor, you'll see what I changed... It was simply an APN specifically for MMS use, changed it to alltel's values and.. BAM, perfect MMS.
Path:
/data/data/com.android./providers/telephony/databases/
Permissions are to be set to
USER: READ CHECKED - WRITE CHECKED
GROUP: READ CHECKED - WRITE CHECKED
No other's checked.
After replacing the telephony.db file, no reboot required, you should be set to send and receive MMS without any issues at all. If it fails, restart the phone or force quit messages and relaunch.
I will try that PRL you mentioned above, I am also on 31005... reports as the same PRL on my mother's alltel hero though, hmm.. doesn't make sense of why my phone still says I'm roaming.
I will also play with cloning profile 0 and profile 1 and switch back to sim+mobile IP mode...
Thread moved to Q&A.
Thanks I will give this a roll when I get home this evening. I hope that some of what I've given you will be helpful. I've been enjoying the phone and I will enjoy it even more I know once I get the MMS thing cleared up. Keep me up to date on what's going on.
Played with everything, did exactly as you said, still no 1X, if I go to ##data and tell it to use CDMA only (turn EVDO off), it just goes to no data at all while my Eris would just stick to 1x in that mode.
odd.
Can someone explain WHAT it is that allows a handset to receive the HA/AAA shared keys when a *228 activation is requested?
We all know that taking for example a Sprint phone and applying an alltel PRL to the radio ... that when activating it WILL NOT receive the HA/AAA keys for data...
Is it the AKEY ? Is it something else in the memory?
An old PPC6800 I have that was SPRINT.. it was a bugger getting data to work, just would NOT receive the HA/AAA keys or anything when *228ing the phone, as soon as I applied the Alltel Rom with the Alltel NV items, it activated without an issue and received all the correct NV items for data and all, worked perfect. How can we do this with the latest smartphone?...
Is it possible I can clone the NV items from my mother's HTC Alltel Hero and write them to my sprint Evo ?
What do you guys think?
Steve check your PM
I never had to do this myself so don't know how applicable it is.
I installed the file and assigned the permissions, now app just blows up when I try to send a pic msg. Any ideas?
STRANGE !
What messaging app are you using?
I am running stock latest OTA... So all the stock apps are installed, minus all the sprint stuff and a few other htc pre-loaded software I have taken out with root explorer.
Should be working perfectly. I have no idea what the deal is.
Did you go to Messages>menu>settings>connection settings and see if the values have changed?
I use Chomp SMS but it did the same with the native messaging app as well.
That's really strange. MMS still online and working flawlessly for me on alltel.
Phone still says I'm roaming though. Mother's HTC Alltel Hero in the same town is not roaming, both flashed with the same PRL and the NAM info looks identical in cdma workshop.
You sure your APN lists are empty? Mine is, no APN's at all in the APN viewer.

htc evo reading VERIZON with metro prl

My HTC Evo is reading Verizon wireless when y dial *228 to set up the device.
the problem is I have used the metropcs prl - 0069/02001/02004 and 03011 and no matter what, it stays in roaming "Analog B" and doesnt go to metro.
Sometimes get some american blabla network.
Phone is rooted and with metrodroid 1.2
The cyanogen doesnt give me option to go to ##3424# or ##3282#
And not getting into ##775# at all.
Some help would be appreciated
the ESN is added to metropcs inventory and with a working phone number.
Need it really bad.
thanks
Double check to make sure the Metro PCS PRL sticks. Go to Settings > About Phone > Status and look under PRL.
Also, check to see if your number shows up under "My phone number."

Metro has a roaming agreement with verizon. When in one of these roaming zones or sometimes when metro is doing some system maintenance this scenario you describe will occur. When you leave that roaming zone or metro finishes with their system maintenance, whatever the case. Your phone should then just go back to working as before.

This is a fresh flashing, has not yet work on metro, Im still trying to get to work.
I've been trying to set it up for 4 days in a roll and its given me only headaches ..lol...

Is the prl file to be uploaded to ROAM tab right?
what prl have anybody up running on evo metro?
The EVO will not work on NY. Since there is not PCS band in NY
NY,NJ and some others states only use AWS band which is a new frecuency band not supported by the EVO,
thats why you're on roaming, your EVO can't see any metro network even if you have the latest metro PRL

HOWEVER!!! none of them work on my htc evo 4g I get absolutely no signal. (flashing evo to metro here) and metro service is flawless in my area. it'll get spotty when I drive around but in my home. on my normal metro phone I have full bars. this is my last step before this phone is completely flashed what to do???
sorry to bring a dead thread back to life
but its not working for me either and i have cloned the esn of my huawei ascend into my Evo yet nothing. is still in Analog B

[q] flashed the desire sprint radio and prl install

I successfully flashed the CDMA Desire with a Sprint Radio off the Evo. It's baseband 2.15.00.09.01
I also installed PRL 60677 from sprint. I also tried the Cyanogen MOD.
It's currently running the alltel ROM so I can get access to the dialing codes in the PRL but even though I flashed the RADIO and the PRL it still shows the network as alltel and it won't let me get access in menu>settings>Wireless networks>mobile network
I can turn it on. But it either seems to take a long time to turn off, or go off by itself, not sure which. But once its on it is greyed out and won't let me get access to it.
I thought maybe it was the PRI, but I don't see how that could be. Is there some sort of Initial Program Loader from alltel doing this can someone tell me why it won't pick up on a sprint network that I have for cdma like connecting or sharing a connection etc... and won't get off U.S. Cellular network?
I might just try flashing to verizon and see what happens just to observe. It should be a lot easier than flashing to sprint.
edit: I did change all the dialing codes to sprint in the ## menu btw. I used the codes from another sprint Phone.
EDIT: It also won't turn off always when I hit Airplane mode and constantly says "Turning on...." and won't give access when to "Mobile Network" when you hold down the power button and that menu comes up.
I used the original Stock RUU to switch back. It changed the baseband and everything else back and also got rid of my clockwork recovery in the process
The only thing it didn't change is the PRL. I had to redownload that and manually rechange the codes in the ## secret dialing menu's.
As far as I understand I will need to change the esn or have this esn to sprint to be able to get it working on a sprint network. It is very difficult thing to do so I will have to postpone this. I'm thinking there might be some code or something in one of the abstraction layers or HAL layers that is preventing you from changing the esn somewhow... not really sure but that seems like the best place for me to look as it is the interface between the software and hardware. The hardware is there and able to do it, so it must be the most basic software or HAL that is preventing me from doing it I am guessing. BTW this is not illegal. I own my phone. If anything it's illegal for someone to sell me crap that doesn't work the way it should because of bogus programming that's been put on my phone to prevent me from using it! And nikola tesla invented the radio btw where is the money and credit he deserves for this?!
Hey man,
I am trying to do something like this for my wife. I'll let you know how it goes once I get the phone. In the meantime, maybe this might help you?

I know it's not quite the same - taking VZW phone onto Sprint Network, but I thought it might help you out.
I'll post my experience later when I get the phone next week.
Thanks,
-Marcus

I don't think that's quite the same thing. I read through the post and a lot of it didn't make a whole lot of sense. Generally you have to have a compabible esn with the network you want to use. Every carrier has a database of all the esn's that are registered and available to use their service. If you try to connect to their service their software will recognize the esn as false and not grant service even if you install all the correct radio's/basebands, PRL files, Firmware, etc... it just won't work because you don't have an esn in their database so you have no authority to connect to their network. So you have to change the esn. But it's not such a simple thing to change an esn. I'm guessing its written in hexadecimal somewhere in the registry, but maybe not. There are certain command sets like the Haye's command set that only apply to CPU or other hardware like modem/Radio. There is an RIL which communicates between a driver, the modem/radio, and the OS. I'm guessing the esn is communicated and retrieved by the RIL layer that communicates via proxy & a driver or in one other PPP protocol that apparently only communicates with the network at certain times suspiciously. That's because the ESN is apparently located in the radio/modem and people have successfully changed their esn by changing their modem and installing a different one. A modem is essentially an ultra small electronic radio. In the same way that a radio picks up signals out of the air and converts to sound, a modem picks up signals also and can convert to sound as well as internet data, text messaging, etc...
If your radio doesn't have the proper command sets it can not pick up on certain signals such as for example sprint 1900 MHz for a sprint radio/baseband version vs a 900MHz signal for a 900 MHz Verizon. Each carriers software might be set up to block the other carriers signals in certain ways. For example each carrier has roaming agreements with the other carriers so that when you go out of your host carriers network say from Verizon into Sprint then you can "roam" and still get coverage. Sprint in this case provides the coverage and therefore they have an agreement to use each others network to provide better coverage. They may also pay each other small fees to use their network. Roaming, carrier type, cell number, mobile network operator, ip addresses, etc... can all be preprogrammed into CDMA handsets through ## secret dialing modes. This only works on CDMA handsets or in CDMA mode on your phone (i.e. not GSM). Usually on HTC devices you press ##775# to update a PRL file which is the Preferred Roaming List. That is usually easy enough, but this may not always update all your phones programming and you may have to do so manually through other ## dialing codes such as Primary HA secondary HA MCC (Mobile Country code) MNC (Mobile Network code) etc... Even if you do all that though it serves no purpose if the esn isn't registered to the network that you want to use. Generally only Cricket and MetroPCs in the USA will register a CDMA esn to use on their handsets. All the other carriers like Sprint, Att, Verizon, etc... generally won't do it, hence you can't get CDMA service from them if you have a CDMA capable handset even if you update all of your files as there is a program that is run on behalf of the carriers that manually checks your phones ESN/MEID/etc... to see if you have the "proper Credentials" or authorization to use their network. In this case the authorization is given on whether or not if your ESN is in their database and that it aslo can be in their database but blacklisted or grey listed in the case of you have an innactive account and need to pay them to get it "white Listed" or if you have a debt on your account or the phone is reported stolen it may be "black Listed". Usually you can flash to Cricket or MetropCs fairly easily though and they will even do it for you for a small fee.

[Q] Droid incredible 2 verizon phone unlocked to t-mobile!!!!!!!!!!!

hi so i recentlly got a droid incredible 2 and unlocked it to use on tmobile. now my question is can 3g be enabled to use on tmobile network?
i have it working on edge so far but it love to take advantage of the 3g network . plz help!!
Congratulations, you have posted in the wrong phone forum. Also, I don't believe you would have access to T-Mobile 3g unless the Inc2 supported their AWS 3g bands.
figured id post in the wrong place and thanx il check out if it does support the bands
No problem. According to this site:
http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_droid_incredible_2-3938.php
the Inc2 supports gsm 2100 which I believe is one of the same frequencies of T-Mobiles 3g network. I can't help you any further since dealing with frequencies and other networks isn't something I know of.
Can it be used with att? Like say with the straight talk e71 sim card ?
Sent from my Incredible using XDA App
OP, how do you make it work? Have you verified with Tmobile sim card? I unlocked hinc2, but it shows "no service" with tmobile sim under GSM.

yep it can be used with any sim carrier. just do not know if it will support their 3g data because the adr6350 opperates on frequency 2100 and not also the 1700

you have to set up a new apn for t mobile. you have to go into settings-wireless and networks- make sure you have it set to gsm not cdma to make it work. - go to mobile networks- GSM/UMTS options. - acces point names and if its blank press the menu button on the phone and select new apn.
this is what you need to write in it.
Name: T-mobile or whatever you want
APN: epc.tmobile.com
proxy : blank
port: not set
username: blank
pass: blank
server: blank
MMSC:ht tp :// mms.msg. eng. t-mobile.com /mms/ wapenc (without the spaces)
MMS protocol: Wap2.0
MCC:310
MNC:260
Authentication type: blank
apn type:blank.
and this shuld enable your tmobile on your htcInc2
hit the thanx button if this helped
Help switching over

I've been trying like crazy to get mine switched over from Verizon to T-mobile and was soo happy to find this!! I'm having a problem finding my apn numbers and that data listed. When ever I try to switch mine to GSM or Global it say there is no SIM card installed and automatically switches back to CDMA. How can I stop this or how can I change the info another way. I have it rooted already and I'm running the ClockworkMod. The phone doesn't have service but I have activated the Tmobile card already, just can't get the bloody thing to work!
Any help you can give you'd be extremely appreciated.

Did you get this as a pre-owned phone from someone else? Is it Sim unlocked - do you know?
If the answer is yes, when you go into APN - you need to create the above and SAVE it first. What ROM are you running?
I've uploaded 2 *.jpg images - not sure if it's showing up correctly? Can you reference & compare the screens and share what yours are?

No this was my phone to begin with. I just got tired of Verizons BS and switched to the Walmart Family mobile that is a third the price, but I couldn't afford a new unlocked phone.
I did manage to unlock the Sim, called Global Support from Verizon and they gave me the code no questions asked.
After I unlocked it and got it to recognize the Sim card I found the APN section and got all that setup like it was shown on here now it's working perfectly!
I'm running the stock ROM. I would like to upgrade to CM7 or something like that but I don't know how to upgrade my Kernal to accept the upgrade so I get stuck at the White HTC boot screen whenever I flash a new ROM. So I just defaulted back to 2.3.4 til I can figure it out.

Great, glad to hear that you got it working on Walmart's T-Mo family plan now, it is "slow" on mobile data but just as good when you are on WiFi. We retired our 2 DI2 last month and ditched Big Red, I hear ya - we saved 50% each month, more than enough to pay for two Nexus 5.
If yours is rooted/bootloader unlocked with CWM, you don't need to do anything with the stock kernel - just leave it alone, find the custom rom's zip file that you want - copy to mSD card, boot into recovery - do a full wipe, flash & reboot, then setup as usual & restore your apps. The stock VZW rom has all the bloatware that are useless, especially on other carriers - use Andy Bone's stocked Rom instead, or SkyRaider's Zeus or TSM Sense, all 3 of them works 99.89999% in GSM (using 2 of them now) - read the FAQ / Sticky first, as it is detailed & explained it all with how to's. I have those roms in offline storage - PM me if you cannot find a working public links to download them.
Prices for brand new 4G LTE smartphones are mad crazy, I understand - VZW wanted about $300 each to upgrade + fees + ETF & 24 months contract, if you shop around when ready on eBay, you can find some pre-owned ones that are solid with custom Rom, and reliable with reasonable prices on the 3G HSPA side, i.e. saw pre-owned Motorola Atrix 4G with 4" screen in good conditions for about $70 - in exchange, you get much faster 3G/HSPA+ speed with mobile data (if you need it on the go)
Have a safe & happy holiday.
Skyraider is probably one of the best sense roms on gingerbread with a few tweaks to it. Thing with unlocking the sim on this phone to work on a different network u will eventually start to have issues since it was designed for only verizon cdma and global gsm only. A lot of the gsm is still in the work. When unlocking any phone to work on a different network ur mostly always gonna have an issue with 3G bec gsm is on a totally different band and unless the phone itself was designed specificially for gsm itll be an issue ull more than likely have. An apn change might fix it but not a lot of roms have the apn settings unless its more the line Cyanogenmod. There is an apn settings shortcut in the playstore u can use to set it. Me personally i wouldve stuck with Verizon because the majority of the worlds population is cdma service towers and tmobile has less coverage then sprint or at&t but too each his own. Good luck and hope the apn change helps gain u 3G
