how to overclocked?!?! - G2 and Desire Z Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

how to overclocked i need help.
anyone??

You need to be rooted, have setcpu app and have a compatible kernel. Basic computer skills such as using search might help to keep people from set you on fire

yes i am perm rooted.

Go the Rom thread and get a overlooked kernel if your still on the stock Rom. You should just switch out the Rom. ROM manager will back up your current Rom.

How can I remove stock apps

How to remove stock apps ?
rooted HTC Evo with UnrEVOked 3 using stock 2.2 Froyo Rom
I was told to try titanium backup app but that didn't work either
Root explorer also didn't do much .
Anyone know a way that really works ? I just can't stand those apps running in the background all day .

Titanium Backup and Root Explorer should both work. If they arent, maybe you arent fully rooted. And FYI, the apps are not "running" in the background, just cached.
Good to know thx
So how do I turn fully rooted ?
Is this that Nand unlock ? That I keep reading in the forums ? I'm still new at this .
Thx for your help again

The problem may be that the rom isn't rooted. I'm presuming that since you are "rooted" you have a custom recovery (clockworkmod/AmonRa). Try flashing a stock froyo rooted rom. I believe Sprint lovers will do the trick, though i've never flashed a stock rooted rom. it will give you root privileges sufficient enough to remove system apps
I'm using the stock Froyo 2.2 Rom
Rooted via UnrEVOked 3 .

My phone has UN rooted itself

OK I put on a new kernal (the one in my signature) and went into titanium back up and tried downloading a root app and it now says not rooted. I tried to use unrevoked and it said failed rom is to new. Wtf has happened

You surely must have root if you have a custom rom still. Is the SuperUser app listed? Try rebooting or flash the rom again with NO wipe.
OK a reinstall of rom done the trick. Would the kernal I got messed it up some how.

I don't know. Could have. Never actually come across this issue before.

Am I still rooted

K so I thought I was having an issue with my phone only working while roaming so I ran the latest RUU. But my hboot still show s- off. Am I still rooted? If this has been answered all ready apologize I'm new here. And get the red triangle symbol when I try to go to recovery. The problem that I was having was apparently a tower failure so I am wanting to go back to a custom rom and want to make sure I don't have to reroot to do so. Thanks in advance for answers.

You're stock but you still have an unlocked bootloader. You should be able to flash a custom recovery and then flash a new ROM, no need to reroot.
Thanks for the help

should be able to still use rom manager...might be easier.

[Q] wildfire overclock

I have an htc wildfire, not rooted and everything original. Can i overclock the phone with the original kernel after the root process?
You can't overclock with HTCs stock kernel, you can underclock if the app you use can turn perflock off.
Only way is to install custom rom and custom kernel, I suggest cm7

Nope
I acctually rooted my phone to overclock it i thought all you had to do was root setCPU and done but then i found out you cant overclock HTC kernels , but you can install custom kernels on your stock rom (like i did)
What owner eod says is right.

What custom kernel are you using on stock rom owner eod?

You should find an ruu for your device. There is a guide in the development section where you can find the right ruu.
