Info required on how to upgrade SGS firmware on an unlocked phone - Upgrading, Modifying and Unlocking

I have an SGS which was originally purchased on and locked to Orange. I have unlocked the handset to O2.
This now presents a problem with the handset being recognised by Kies for upgrading the firmware (apparently unlocking the handset removes something from the phone's system leaving it unable to be upgraded.
Is there a workaround for this please?
Many thanks.

Simlock Changed After Rom Upgrade

My phone was locked to Orange UK but after installing an Asian Rom -
RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.6_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_rel_124362.exe
it said it was simlocked even though I was using my original Orange simcard that worked fine before.
The phone had been rooted (R4 method, bootloader version 0.75) before the Asian rom was installed. I rooted it again (R4 method with European rom but bootloader version is now 0.80) but it was still saying simlock.
I have bought an unlock code that I had to enter twice, even though the first time it said it was successful and my Orange sim card is now working again.
I wanted the Asian rom to get a Thai font working, which it did OK. so I may try it again.
As this rom changed my simlock maybe it will give someone who is looking at producing a way of unlocking the Desire something to work on.
Reason you got your phone locked is that you flashed new ROM with radio update.
I had the same situation. For some reason radio update locks Orange phones.
Easiest way to sort it out without paying for unlock is rooting your phone again which brings back original radio.
Found on modaco. Worked for me.

I did root it again but maybe not with the original radio as it was still sim locked (radio now is 4.06.00.02_2). Thanks for the explination.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Nexus GSM Carrier Unlock (SFR)

Hello,
I just purchased a second hand Samsung Galaxy Nexus (GMS) in France carrier locked to SFR. Since the previous owner didn't provide the receipt, it will be virtually impossible to convince the carrier to unlock it for me (even though French and European legislation says otherwise).
If I understand correctly, unlocking the bootloader or rooting the phone will not get me anywhere. How can I carrier-unlock this phone without having to install a custom ROM.
I will gladly accept links to other threads although I have looked and did not find any clear answers.
[EDIT] It occurs to me that since this is a Google vanilla phone I could simply flash it with a stock Android ICS ROM. Is this correct ?
Thanks
You're right that rooting won't help. You'll need a SIM unlock code.

[Q] Vodafone to O2 - Just Change ROM?

Hi
I have an N7100 that was 'born' as a UK Vodafone device. Since then I've rooted and tried lots of different ROMs etc. I've now got a Note 4 on upgrade, and the Vodafone store said that my device wasn't locked (they said the status was neither locked or unlocked - maybe because I've rooted/Rom's it before?)
I'm now selling this to a friend who has an O2 sim.
If I download the stock N7100 O2 ROM from SamMobile and install via ODIN, will this work? As in, is there anything wrong with doing this?
He wants a stock ROM, but will root it for him anyway. I don't think he's interested in a 'custom' ROM even if it's just a stock ROM with the junk removed.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
O2 ROM will not do anything if phone is locked. Try his sim card in your current setup, if that doesn't work you need the phone unlocking, changing the ROM does nothing apart from load o2 junk on.

Samsung Galaxy A50 -Software Update Issue after unlocking phone and switching network

Hi,
So yesterday I successfully unlocked my Galaxy A50 from Three network and ported my number to 48 network. Went to a phone fix shop to get the phone unlocked and it took about 20 minutes (cost me €25). Everything about the phone and 48 network works fine. However, when I went into Software update in my settings and tried to download and install the latest software update, I receive the message "Your current software version isn't supported. Visit a service centre".
I never had issues with updating software before and after checking online it seems that maybe the software updates are carrier locked (to Three network) and that if I want to update the software I would need to put an active Three SIM into the phone.
I rang back the guy who unlocked the phone and he said that people never come back to him with this issue after unlocking their phones, but if I wanted he would be able to manually update the phone and in the future it should update automatically, but this will cost €35 as he said he may need to backup everything and upload it again and it's a lengthy process.
It's either that, or find a Samsung Service Centre in Ireland (can't find any on website) or put a Three network SIM in any time I want to update.
Does anyone have any experience with this? Would really appreciate some help!

Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G

I have 2 big problems with my Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra 5G Android 11! Bought it in Spain, have installed Samsung Firmware through Samsung Menu and BOOTLOADER ID is EUX(is from Samsung itself)!!
Bought the phone in Vodafone shop so this is my service provider Software version: SAOMC_SM-G988B_OXM_ATL_RR_0030 ATL/ATL_ATL/EUX/ATL
I bought a Network Unlock code installed a PHE stock rom firmware but didn't change a thing! So I don't know if the Network Unlock code worked or not because it stays registered at ATL=CSC code Vodafone(Spain)
Tried to uninstall pre-installed service provider programs, got some definetely uninstalled but not all of them, reinstalled an other stock firmware PHE again and nothing got changed again!
So now I need help from real wizards to help me with this problem!
I want bootloader ID CHANGED to PHE for example and want all pre-installed programs definetely uninstalled from my device, at the moment they get automaticly installed at the end of installing new firmware!
Doesn't something exist to format but real format as a SDD from a PC? Something like that should be found out that we can wipe everything and start all over again!
Is there not such possibility with unlocking the bootloader and installing new stock firmware again? I tried that but it fails, does someone now there a solution for?
Network Unlock Code to use to Unlock the Network lock code is locked now because it was a bad code they gave me and now it is asking for a MCK. Anyone knows how to get a MCK code?
