Simlock Changed After Rom Upgrade - Desire General

My phone was locked to Orange UK but after installing an Asian Rom -
RUU_Bravo_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.19.707.6_Radio_32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_rel_124362.exe
it said it was simlocked even though I was using my original Orange simcard that worked fine before.
The phone had been rooted (R4 method, bootloader version 0.75) before the Asian rom was installed. I rooted it again (R4 method with European rom but bootloader version is now 0.80) but it was still saying simlock.
I have bought an unlock code that I had to enter twice, even though the first time it said it was successful and my Orange sim card is now working again.
I wanted the Asian rom to get a Thai font working, which it did OK. so I may try it again.
As this rom changed my simlock maybe it will give someone who is looking at producing a way of unlocking the Desire something to work on.

Reason you got your phone locked is that you flashed new ROM with radio update.
I had the same situation. For some reason radio update locks Orange phones.
Easiest way to sort it out without paying for unlock is rooting your phone again which brings back original radio.
Found on modaco. Worked for me.

I did root it again but maybe not with the original radio as it was still sim locked (radio now is 4.06.00.02_2). Thanks for the explination.

Unable to start wi-fi

Just had system update notifier, so I installed it (am now on build no: 1.21.405.2 CL174215) and am unable to start wi-fi or bluetooth?
Could it be anything to do with this being an orange handset that I have de-branded?
Same problem after update, but bluetooths works, but get messege unable to start WIFI
anyideas ?
I've got this issue too. Debranded T-Mobile device.
hi everyone !
same problem for me, french Desire Orange unbranded ...
only WiFi does not work. Bluetooth seems ok.
hi all, I think we all are in the same boat, it appeared that only debranded phones are affected. mine debranded T-Mobile as well. damn, I was so happy when I saw an OTA update at the first time. who could expect it will kill my wi-fi. however, I've seen guys on another forum that the problem is solved if you reload the full ROM from the beginning, even 1.21 works great. I've just downloaded one from this thread, going to install now and see. the problem is that you have to back up everything because it will kill all data on your phone. personally I'm not going to backup as there's not much to loose there for me and I wish to have a very clean install. cheers!
Same problem here with french Orange de-branded and not rooted ....
I'm going to try a radio upgrade, it could handle the problem, but it seems that newest radios sim lock Orange phones
Same problem with my debranded T-Mobile Desire. Can't flash the original RUU I found here in this forum. My desire starts and hangs at the black screen showing the HTC Logo but did not continue flashing the rom. By unplugging the USB Cable the bootloader appears and show 0.75. I thought it must show 0.80 ? Any ideas how to flash the rom that brings back my WLAN?

I helped another member to get his Wi-Fi connection working after he had upgraded to the latest modified Kernel version by Richard Trip.
Note: Your phone will need to be rooted to apply the kernel flash zip file in recovery mode.
Best Regards,
Mas.
well I'm back up and running but only after buying an unlock code from htccode (Thanks Sudarshan)
Couldn't see a way round it as I'm not rooted but I suppose, although the handset is branded, it's now unlocked and running htc software instead of that sodding orange messed up stuff!
OK I solved the problem with the broken WiFi Connection.
I replaced the ROM with one posted here in this forum.
I just flashed it and after the reboot, i have had the new ROM with a working WiFi Connection.
There is a strange thing that I revognized during the procedure. The ROM with the broken WiFi Link showed me a bootloader version of 0.75, after the flash I got 0.80.
I would be interested if some users have the 0.75 bootloader too even after the update.
Hope I could help some of you guys still having the problem.
Greetz Blackbird
Flash one of the kernels (boot.img) and bcm439.ko. Richard Trip is the only one that has them packaged, so download his and flash via recovery. make sure your wifi is off first.

Have now updated using the GoldCard methed, now the WiFi working Fine, but now have another problem, the Phone is now saying please enter "Sim Network Unlock PIN"
HELP !!!!
You've to unlock your phone. Go to "htcsimunlock.com", enter your phone modell and your IMEI No. You'll get the requested unlock code but you've to pay for.
Made the same procedure yesterday and it worked fine without unlocking the device. Maybe it's because it won't be nessessary in germany, I don't know.

Hi
Did you need to pay Orange to get the unlock code? I'm in the same position you were in. Unbranded HTC Desire from Orange.
Thanks

SIM-Unlocking a rooted Desire

Right, I'm really confused here.
I recently rooted my Desire and flashed OpenDesire as a new ROM. Since this, I decided to switch over to a deFrost ROM, and as part of the instructions I flashed to a newer radio.
Since this - the phone's been SIM locked. I decided to bite the bullet and buy a code from an eBay seller - code came through straight away, and when applying it, it states "Network unlock successful". However, when the phone fully boots, it's still not able to connect to the network - and when I reboot, it asks for the unlock code again.
I'm a bit clueless. Any ideas?
You need to root it again this time using a GoldCard,, more here

That seems to have done the trick - thanks!
You should try sim unlocking on custom roms, flash a generic htc rom (not a branded one) and try the unlock process again

Yeah, I think this was the problem - trying to apply an unlock code on a custom ROM doesn't seem to work. As soon as I'd reflashed to the stock ROM included in the Modaco root, it asked for the code and accepted it permanently. All good.

It worked for me, just I had to put the code in twice that's all.

I think it may only affect certain ROMs - for reference, I was trying to unlock when using OpenDesire.
Hi,
I have this same problem, how can i get back to the generic htc rom ( or which rom would it work on? i'm using opendesire atm)
thanks
also i'm on a mac so can't do the whole RUU.exe thing
Can not unlock my Desire
I hope I am not doing the wrong thing here by asking this. I have be looking around to find where to ask. Sorry.
I can not unlock my Desire because I do not have a GSM sim at my disposal to use.
I did not know when I bought the code that I had to have one on hand to be able to unlock. I did not need one for my HD, TP, & TP2. Any one have a suggestion?
I just bought a Desire SIM-locked to 3 network.
I installed Clockworkmod recovery and AuraxTSense 7.9, I made a GoldCard. Than I put in the Telia SIM, and of course I can not use the network.
I looked around on the web, and found, that it should ask for the unlock code, but it doesn't.
On the lockscreen it writes: Limited service - Emergency calls only
How can I unlock it?

[Q] SIM unlock or root first?

Hi,
This is my first post on this great fora and I'm happy to use it.
I'll get soon a Desire which SIM locked on Orange. I'll have from Orange the code for unlocked the phone.
Should I do that before I root to to put an other ROM?
Yes, I don't want to keep the ROM from Orange and I'd like to try some homemade ROM
Thanks.
Hello mate!
I did unlocked my phone first(orange UK) and then I used the unrevoked method.
Worked first time.
I have froyo now.
I am not sure but i think it should work the other way around as well.
Good luck!
On the flip side I didn't unlock. Rooted using unrevoked and now using miui rom. Briefly also installer opendesire and defrost without unlocking. Also the last few radios haven't locked the phone either.

[Q] Can you help me unlocking to have HOX working on another provider / operator ?

Hello,
I bought a second hand HOX last week. It was sold to me as unlocked from operator SFR (Vodaphone France, or CID VODAP203).
I bought an unlocking code from an internet shop, tried it, didn't work... I went into a shop specialized in unlocking phones they could not make it provider free...
So I went on to this forum. Plenty of nice things, and as I already rooted an Android tablet from TOSHIBA (FOLIO100), I tried a few things.
It appears that my phone is rooted. When I boot in bootloader it says "UNLOCKED", and it is also S-OFF!!! I am able to change the CID as much as I want, and I have set it to "11111111". As such I was told on a french forum that any SIM Card from any provider should work, but it doesn't...
I have been able to install Jelly Bean from one of the ROM developpers, thinking (and this is where I am a noob) that I will clear the part of the system that tells it is locked to one provider... Of course it didn't do anything more, or different than telling me it doesn't work on any provider.
I went back to stock from Vodaphone France, and came to you in order to get some instructions or link to have on working on another network than the vodaphone one...
Thanks in advance for your help,
Alain
First off, it's great you have an S-OFF handset. You are lucky about that.:good:
On the other hand, unlocking bootloader doesn't have anything to do with SIM locks. So, whatever you did (as you experienced it yourself) doesn't work.
I suggest you search over here, because I know for sure there is a way to unlock SIM lock on HOX. I didn't have to do it, as mine was already unlocked (or SIM free, I can't tell now).
Don't worry, you'll find the way, just be patient.
A bientot!
Yeah everyone told me it was great to have it S-OFF, although I don't know what it can do for me... I guess this would be great for developpers ?
I hope I won't have to go through several unlock code providers...
S-OFF is giving you advantage in being able to flash any ROM, any RUU, any HBOOT, any radio... Good not only for developers.
Back to topic - I suggest you visit some mobile phone service, and pay ONLY after they finish the work. I guess there are whole lot of frauds online,, that would take you money for the "unlock code", and not care if it doesn't work.
I repeat, be patient, and keep searching. Here's what I found (you can do the same search yourself):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1654075
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=25341694&postcount=71
it cost me a whole £2.79 to get mine unlocked.
I bought the code from ebay inserted an un supported sim and entered the code when asked. That's the main reason actually why I've stuck with HTC they are so easy to un lock

Mate, nowadays most phones are unlocked through pw.... code. Usually, you get it for specific handset (IMEI and operator), and just type it in as you did.
BTW, Samsung Galaxy SIII is even easier to unlock - by an apk from Google Play Store.
Hello,
I went through one of Unlock Code providers that [email protected]|-|oR provided me through his links...
I had the exact same unlock code as the one I got in France... that doesn't work. But the guys were really professional, in reimbursing my money as they could not unlock my phone.
The strangest thing is that they asked me if the phone is rooted, and said that this is why I cannot SIM Unlock, because it is rooted... I reverted by to stock, and re-locked the phone but the result is still the same, it stays stuck to SFR...
I hope a solution will come out in the form of an application such as the one for Galaxy III, it looks so easy to do.
Have a good evening,
Alain
Hi my phone was branded by orange and obviously had a simlock what did with my hox and many others before is:root the phone ,get recovery, then flash custom rom and all that branded garbage with simlock is gone.I've done it before with galaxy S,S2,now with my hox. Don't never ever buy any codes online.

Hello,
I already did that, (root, flash customer ROM), but simlock is still here... only thing I didn't change is recovery, but it is 5.8.xxx (aka I think it is the latest).
Can you guide me rapidly in return ?

SIM unlock is totally separate from rooting.

[Q] Vodafone to O2 - Just Change ROM?

Hi
I have an N7100 that was 'born' as a UK Vodafone device. Since then I've rooted and tried lots of different ROMs etc. I've now got a Note 4 on upgrade, and the Vodafone store said that my device wasn't locked (they said the status was neither locked or unlocked - maybe because I've rooted/Rom's it before?)
I'm now selling this to a friend who has an O2 sim.
If I download the stock N7100 O2 ROM from SamMobile and install via ODIN, will this work? As in, is there anything wrong with doing this?
He wants a stock ROM, but will root it for him anyway. I don't think he's interested in a 'custom' ROM even if it's just a stock ROM with the junk removed.
Any help appreciated.
Thanks
O2 ROM will not do anything if phone is locked. Try his sim card in your current setup, if that doesn't work you need the phone unlocking, changing the ROM does nothing apart from load o2 junk on.
