I don't understand how come in the 3-5 custom ROMs that I've tried so far, only CyanogenMod 6.1 RC2 has an accurate Google Map application. It is accurate to within 20 meters and shows me moving on Google Maps as I travel around town. Yet the other custom ROMs I've tried, they are only accurate to 900 thru 2200 meters? Almost makes Google Maps & Navigation useless.
I like the look and feel of the other ROMs, but I need Google Maps to be accurate as I use it a lot to travel around town. Is it a Radio update maybe? If so, where do I get the latest version? Initially, I thought it could be my phone, but the fact it works perfectly with CyanogenMod tosses that idea out the window.
The other custom ROMs that I've tried are:
- JagerRom Final (downloaded thru ROM Manager)
- Virtuous 3.1.0 (downloaded thru ROM Manager)
- MIUI 0.11.26.1 (downloaded thru ROM Manager)
- Uncommon Sense v1.1 (downloaded thru ROM Manager)
- Redemptive rEVOlution 2.1.3
- Business Official (based on the Official Android 2.2+ v3.26.605.1 HTC Sense ROM for the Incredible and will only work on it. It also includes the new leaked kernel 2.36.32.17)
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I know this is really obvious, but you do have GPS enabled right? Other than that I'm not sure, mine works great.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Sounds like you don't have your GPS enabled when you're using the app.
I've used uncommon, Virtuous, and currently using Business Sense and have had no issues with Google maps.
Yeah, I've checked all the obvious stuff like you guys are suggesting.

The system couldn't load Copilot-Code
What I'm doing wrong - or is Copilot not compatibel with Android 2.1 ? Please help

That's not the point as we're talking about 2.1. But anyway, I think you're wrong: my version of CoPilot works flawlessly on my HeroDroid-Rom (which is built on the same Eris leak as Villain).
So, maybe it's a specific problem with Villain, but definitely not with Android 2.1
Thanks for your answere - I will try to get it work - however ... btw which Copilot Version do you use ?
I'm using iGo, which runs great on 3.3 and is a better navigation system in my opinion.

CoPilot 8 from the Market (Full EU). Bought it under the old 1.5-Rom version, made a backup with Titanium Backup and restored it under Android 2.1.
It says on their site that they have Nexus support, so it should work in 2.1. You may have to update to the latest version though.

Strange, I get the same error!
I think you need version 8.0.0.606
Maybe you should uninstall it and reinstall it from the market instead of using titanium backup, 2.1 is a lot different than 1.5 and it may be that titaniumbackup can not restore the settings from an 1.5 rom to a 2.1 rom properly.
IMHO you should not restore your settings from 1.5 roms to 2.1 ones as many things have changed and you can easily break your system and then you will have to flash it again in order to get it working. I've had that experience, I restored 1.5 settings to 2.1 and all I got were force closes of sense and this and that. Selectively the restore works but I dont recommend it..

I used Titanium Backup for all the self-installed software and I had not one single FC (and as mentioned earlier, it also worked flawlessly with CoPilot). But I never restored any system settings from 1.5, I think that it what leads to your crashes.

yip, I know, as I said, it works if you select certain things that dont have much to do with the system itself. my problem was also that the apps didnt appear in the market so they dont update as easy - for me its best to do a clean setup, it takes some time but it almost always works safer and better
[ROM][07/18/11] Virtuous Sense v2.0.0 :: Enhanced & Optimized Stock ROM (2.42.405.2)
Virtuous Sense is a custom ROM for the HTC Vision series of phones (G2, DesireZ, etc). The goal is to provide a simple, Sense-based, mostly-stock ROM based on the official Desire-Z Sense ROM with essential bug fixes and only subtle enhancements. Virtuous started on the HTC Droid Incredible and is currently one of the most popular ROMs for that device. Virtuous for the Incredible has over 6000 users with an established reputation for stability; which we intend to continue for Vision users.
Features
Based off the official DesireZ Sense ROM (WWE 2.42.405.2), deodexed and zipaligned.
Pre-rooted with the latest version of Superuser and modified ramdisk to allow adb remount, mock locations, etc.
Wifi calling included and fully functional, conditionally installed for T-Mobile USA users only.
Optical trackpad unlock/wake.
Enhanced reboot options built-in, allowing for booting into recovery, bootloader, hot boot, etc.
Virtuous Sense custom kernel with overclocking daemon (no need for SetCPU/Tuner). Screen Off: 245760 / 599040 (conservative). Screen On: 245760 / 998400 (ondemand).
IO optimizations such as use of ext4 for all mounts and larger read-ahead buffer for improved sdcard performance.
Updated versions of all Market-available apps.
All Market-installable apps installed in /data/app. These apps are automatically installed for you both on initial install and after a factory reset/wipe. There are custom scripts to use Android's package manager (pm) to manage these apps, which ensures they are installed properly.
Added applications: ChromeToPhone, Google Voice and Titanium Backup. Since these are Market apps, they are automatically installed in /data/app for easy removal if desired.
Bloatware, defined as anything you could easily choose to download from the Market yourself, has been removed.
Disabled boot animation audio.
Automatic Virtuous OTA upgrade notification and installation via ROM Manager.

Nice!
Very nice rom.
However can't install latest Flash Player from marketplace.
Other apps install fine so far though.
So far, the installation went flawless! Just getting a different feel of HTC Sense. This is really wear Titanium shines as backing up apps is such a god send.
EDIT: My only gripe is that I paid for the premium version of ROM Manager via Paypal, got the Premium, but installed this and lost it. =/ Is there any way for me to get it back, especially after paying for it?

I had to uninstall the existing flash player from 'manage applications' in settings.
then the one in marketplace was able to install.
Great rom!
So whats so great about this release? Not trying to be ungrateful i honestly just want to clear the doubts
It's a modified version of HTC Sense with a couple perks that he explains in his post. It's nice and all but I got too adjusted to the stock feel of Android. HTC Sense is really nice, very graphical and user friendly, but I'm reverting back. Maybe once this comes out of the beta, I'll head on back to it.
But it's good! Try it out for kicks.

Yea man, you aren't going to get any help without giving us more details.... What kind of apks? Where are they from? What do you mean you "can't install them"? Does it give you an error? Are you rooted? What rom? What kernal?
I had this issue a while back, go into Titanium Backup and fix permissions.
It's worth a shot.
market wont load
I installed destroyer rom on my HTC evo 4g, I have android version 2.3.3, kernel version 2.6.37.3-cyanogemmod-0123-g53c6890 [email protected] #1, (whatever that means), CPU info ARMv&7 processor rev2 (v7l), MOd vers cyanogenmod-7.0.0-rc2-supersonic-kang, build # GR140. I hope all this info helps, wasnt sure what you guys would need to help fix problem but here is whats going on.
when i click on the market icon , it acts like it wants to load but doesnt, if i clear data, it then asks to create google account,..I have a google account, but when i click okay to create google account it doesnt do anything..
not sure if this is related but also tried to install flash player and it would install..
I am really new to this, and probably shouldnt have attempted to root my phone and install other than stock stuff...but everything else works and its definetly really fast, and cool...
any suggestions
Also; i installed the new market apk. 3.3.111 , i think?,..same thing = says "must add an account to the device to continue. do you want to continue...i click yes,,and NOTHING
Please Help!!!!!
For one thing, Destoyer was based on Android 2.1 I'm pretty sure, so that COULD be an issue. I mean, it's a pretty old ROM.
Hey man, I say flash a new rom, try some of these listed below
e3d shooter port (has 4g and sense 3.0)
Synergy (4g and sense 2.1 also extremely stable) - my daily driver
FEARmede (no 4g, runs sense 3.5) - Jared and dropzero work hard on this and things are getting fixed everyday.
if you like aosp try
cyanogen mod (4g very stable, have to install gapps to get market)
miui (no 4g, very clean ui, iphone replica almost is your an iphone fan)
savage mod 1.4 (4g, stable, the rom i run when using aosp)
I am running cm7.1 I cannot install any non market apps unknown sources are checked but I cannot get apostle to install. I get to the install screen try to push the button and it dose nothing. I have the stock kernal. Also since o Jane upgraded to 7.1 my video chat dose not work I use oovoo because this is the only app that work on Canada to US.

Hey guys
I'm really interested in what kind of rom you like the most. Just answer the poll.
Currently, I'm running CM7 with MIUI theme, and I love it!
Camera is a bit worse, but download camera360 from market! It's free and has tons of options! Looks almost the same as sense camera.
If I could choose, I would run MIUI, but that's not an option for WFS.

Yes, but most of them are outdated, so don't care.
But about your issues with the given roms, i'm really wondering what problems you got and i would really like to know why.
Have you ever given a logcat to the developers of the roms about your issues?
Cause the unable to launch apps at cyanogen is pretty strange for me, did you try to tell it at the cyanogen troubleshooting thread?
Also unable to install apps is strange, i had both roms at my gfs phone and both worked like they should (cyanogen did even much more, that's cause it's the current rom she uses^^).
I had an issue with wifi on CM7x and Alquez troubleshooted it, provided a solution and I've been using the 7.2 nightly from the 18th since then and love it.
It is fast. No issues with running or installing apps either.
I would agree. If you don't try and address the issues in the troubleshooting thread can't expect solutions to your problems to magically appear.
can v use miui theme .mtz in cm 7.2????i realy like the i phone theme.....or v shoud hv miui rom ????

I am just a beginner in all that stuff and I reported the contacts bug for Cyanogen.
Did you find a fix? I needed to exports contacts to my SD card and reimport them.I don't know how to provide you the logcat... I used CM7 from the 18 dec.
On salsa, the phone rebooted each time I installed an application.
Anyway I wanna use an updated ROM and Cyanogen seems to be the only one for GSM

No fix, but at mine (the desire s build), when i push the menu button while i'm in contacts, I get 4 options, import from sim, import from sd, export to sd and share visible contacts. Have you tried this?
About logcat, look at the index thread, at the general guides section is a guide to set up adb on your pc, after you made this, enable usb debbuging at your device, connect it to pc with usb, prepare your device that it is short before the error occurs, type
Code:
adb devices
adb logcat
at the pc into the command line, reproduce the issue and hit control+c at the pc. Afterwards copy the output of the logcat to a textfile.
Or you can make the same as i described above, but just execute except of adb logcat
Code:
adb logcat > logcat.txt
with this the logcat output is redirected to the textfile (you can name it however you want, but i think logcat.txt makes the most sense at this case^^) and you don't need to copy it.
When I chose import from SIM card, the phone replies that I have no contacts in my sim card (which is false of course). I already tried that.
I'll report errors later, I don't have much time now but thank you for the informations.
One more question. Is Cyanogen the only updated rom? I already checked the ROM list but I didn't find any other working for GSM

Flash back to original rom then go to contacts and export to Google account or go to settings - accounts and sync, then click on your Google account and tick the sync contacts.
Once done flash cm7 then repeat the steps in contacts click import and choose from Google account.
Just like magic all your friends and families numbers will appear.
Good luck.
I saved them on my SD card, that is working too
CM7
I have just recently S-OFFed my WFS with the XTC clip and have been using CM7 for a few days now... its great!!
CM7 with ICS theme is great, battery life is much better than the others
CM7 vs Sense
I have latest nightly build of CM7.... there's no comparison!
Tried all the various Sense ROMs i.e. Jakantarus, they're very nice but EAT batteries for breakfast.
CM7 with data2sd/ext2 partition is best, battery life is amazing. So far haven't found any problems, its pretty fast and has plenty of settings to play with. CM7 music player is all you need and has it's own Graphic Equaliser with speaker and Headphone profiles. CM7 camera is ok, with more functions than sense camera. Get TuneIn radio app for all your radio needs.
Looking forward to CM9!
I'm running CM7 and I like it in any aspect but I would like to try a MIUI theme. Here's my problem: I don't seem like able to download from these locations http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1189723 can anyone upload the black one to dropbox and share the address with me please?
I do like CM7.Only thing that is annoying me is awfully quality of camera photos.
CyanogenMod 7.2.0
I'm using CM7.2 Nightly of Dec 18, lovin' it. [My dream was to have CM on my S-ON phone in those days lol]
Honestly I like sense. Cm7 is absolutely amazing for customization. But the polish of sense and contact merging has converted me....for now.

Oxygen ROM for sure!
This ROM is cooking in my head: sense/cm7 mix!
Available in a month!
Now using CM7 stable with MIUI theme.
Testing and cooking HenseMod: sense without the crap, fast and stable!
Sense is ok, but I like CM more, because it's more memory friendly, no htc crap. I am willing to try every similar rom, even with sense.

Hi xda ppl,
My first post and first time I have flashed an android device after following the good info gleaned from these forums.
I'm happy with the new lease of life this ROM provides over the stock 4.4.2, but I can't seem to use any GPS apps. I have the GPS test app loaded and even after 15 mins on the window sill, I only saw 4 sats but no fix. I've tried some other gps.conf files, but to no avail.
I was wondering if any other GPad owners on 6.0 have tested their GPS or are aware of any changes needed to gps.conf to get it working?
Thanks
Stuart.

As you (and I) are using the pure AOSP, there's only limited support for Location. The needed drivers for the hardware are part of the LG originals soft. Hence not really useable... Same goes for all the other LG-gimmicks that need proprietary drivers (IR, DLNA, etc...)
Cheers
Thanks for explaining that. I've just replaced AOSP 6.0 with the 5.0.2 V50030B that includes Fishears 1.0.3 (thanks @aicjofs).
I installed it over the top (is that what you call a dirty flash?) I still can't get any sats in GPS Test and could still see the /etc/gps.conf files I had been playing with. So I did a full wipe of system, cache, data and internal storage and then reflashed V50030B.
The gps.conf from this ROM looks like it needs some localisation (I'm in the UK), so I'll take a copy and make some edits.
As I'm typing, I can see one sat after about 20mins - Am I on the right track as from what I've read, this is LG's LP ROM for Hong Kong and has all the LG apps and should have the code for the sensors & GPS?
(As I'm a a new user (less than 10 posts) I can't ask the dev direct)
Thanks,
Stuart.

Indeed it's called a 'dirty flash'. However, you're lucky it works. Downgrading usually ends up in a mess. And your move to the modified kernel wasn't helping. Most drivers are included in the proprietary blobs of the original kernel.
20 minutes to get a first satelite is long, very long. Even on AOSP with some testing software I get 2-3 sats in less then 5 minutes. But, as drivers are not implemented in AOSP, no fix. Same goes for IR, DLNA etc...
Cheers
Progress update: I wiped everything off the GPad and replaced 5.0.2 V50030B Fishears 1.0.3 with adrianom's AOSP 5.1.1_r24 (LMY48W) whose forum thread mentions GPS is working.
I use the same GPS test app as you and after some edits to gps.conf to localise to the UK, I got a fix after about 1 min so I am a happy bunny :good:
Maybe adrianom will further develop his AOSP 6.x ROM in the future; I will keep an eye on these threads
Thanks
Stuart.
