[Q] LauncherPro dock icon customisation without Gallery3d. Possible? - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

I've been trying to replace the Gallery app with Just Pictures.
However I use LauncherPro and when using it to change the default icons in the dock, LauncherPro defaults to the Gallery app.
When the Gallery app is not installed, it claims there are no pictures on the phone at all.
Anyone know a solution?

I was wondering about this also... but about Picture Folder, so I've contacted the developer if he could somehow add an option to set default wallpaper or that is shown in this menu, but didn't get an answer.
It's related to the framework of SGS i guess, but i'm pretty sure someone knows something about this and i've already used the search button and couldn't get an answer.
So if maybe somebody knows anything about this, could you please share the info, or at least point us to the right direction
EDIT:
Picture Folder has been updated and is now called QuickPic and it has an option to set wallpaper, but it's still not shown in LP for icon selection...

Widget options?

I'm new to Android, and cannot for the life of me figure out how to access some sort of option menu for individual widgets. Holding down the press just gives me the chance to delete it. For instance, I'm trying to change the colors/background of Digital Clock Widget, but cannot find any way to do this. The widgets do not show up in Apps so I cannot think of another way to get to options...
EDIT or another example, I tried TypoClock, but the bottom of it is cut off... I know I could resize it by paying for LauncherPro Plus, but come on, I don't want to REsize it, I just need it to be 'normal' size! I see everyone else's as correct, surely not EVERYONE has the paid version of the program just so they can resize the clock to its APPROPRIATE size????
EDIT think I may have resolved this, reset LauncherPro defaults. I wonder if it was my changing of the rows/columns? Probably...
You get to the widget menus by adding a widget to the home screen. When you add the widget, if it has any sort of menu, it will pop up prior to being added to the homescreen. Alternatively, some widgets may have some sort of menu system built into them, but I am sure they would have clearly recognizable buttons on the widget itself to access said menu.
I noticed the popup menu with some... I guess you have to re-add if you want to change something...
but at least now I know there isn't some generic hidden widget option menu. Thanks.
On many widgets, if you tap on them, that will bring up menus or advanced features.

[Q] Launcher Pro help needed.

Using Launcher Pro and trying to modify the dock background and icons with custom. This thing is pissing me off and I can't find the answer anywhere.
I know how to add these but the problem is this:
1) No one will ever give an answer on what file formats are compatible with LP....jpg, png, ico, etc
2) I have a lot of graphic files on the root of my sd card. However, when trying to pick a custom one from LP, it opens the crappy HTC gallery app every time (even though I have a better one supposedly set as default in settings) and it only shows some jpg wallpapers. No way to browse or try to find additional graphics that I know for a fact are compatible with LP. If I use my other picture program it shows all the graphics but no way to get them to LP.
How can something that should be so simple be such a pain in my rear? Any suggestions?
Here's what little I know from my own experimentation...
For the dock, you can use .png files for icons.
If you want to use custom icons for your applications, they seem to need to be in .jpg format.
The .png files I have on my phone show up as blank photos in the gallery app, you have to guess which one is which, but they are there.
No doubt somebody else has a better grasp of how to make this work smoothly, but that's what I've found.
I have both jpegs and png files and none of them are showing up in the gallery for some reason, not even as a blank file. Just the wallpapers and have no idea why.
Ok...nm....mounted my phone and removed some pictures, then didn't really do anything else and now they show up in gallery.
Buggy deal but seems fixed now.

[Q] Thumbnail Bookmarks Widget

Hi.
I was looking for a widget that displays your bookmarks as thumbnails right on the screen. Found two - Live Bookmarks and Visual Bookmarks.
The first does it's job alright - it updates bookmarks as I change them, though it doesn't display them right on screen - first you have to click on the icon.
The second, however it looks just as it shuold, does a crappy job when it comes to settings. It doesn't refresh my b-marks properly, and settings doesn't really work the way I set them to be.
Do you happen to know any other app that might do the job I need done?
Or maybe you could make one?

[Q] How to remove the "videos" icon from app drawer?

I have tried deleting com.htcstreamplayer.apk from /system/app but the icon in question is still there. I searched on the internet and found a thread talking about the icon is part of htcmusic.apk, so I deleted that too and it is still there.
The persistence of such icons makes me want to free my app drawer of it more badly! So if you can show me how to do it, I am much obliged!
Hello !
I have "upped" the topic because I have the exact same question.
I have rooted my device and was able to delete HTCMusic.apk and a lot more, but I am unable to find which .apk file or which application is launched when the "Videos" icon is pressed.
I would like to froze the application related to that icon. I know it's possible because I've done that for the "Miror" icon (which is in fact a component of the Camera application) in order to make it disappear from the drawer.
Can you help us please ?
Thanks in advance. (Sorry for my English, I'm French).
The solution
Hi all,
I'm sorry to double-post but I've found a solution for those who are still interested (I have an HTC ChaCha, but I believe it also works for Desire HD).
You must download an app remover from the Google Play Store, which includes a feature called "Freeze", and which is able to disable application components.
For example I have paid for ROM ToolBox Pro (it includes the Advanced Freeze feature).
The component used by Video icon is in fact packed into the "Gallery" application : .TabPluginDevice.ActivityAllVideos, you can disable it safely.
After .TabPluginDevice.ActivityAllVideos is disabled, the Videos icon disappears from the drawer.

Can I remove entire home screens? Can I make folders in drawer mode? Where are photos

I can't seem to be able to remove all the extra homescreens so I have to remove all the shortcuts on them one by one. I also can't seem to be able to make folders in the app drawer as any kind of movement on the icon immediately tries to place it as a shortcut on the home screen.
Failing that, what suggestions do you have for alternate launchers or has that feature not been properly implemented yet?
Also why aren't my Google photos restored from online backup showing up in the gallery app?

Click to collapse
You can set alternate launchers as default without any issues (need to use navigation buttons instead of gestures by default but there's a workaround) on v3.16 / v4.13.
I use Poco Launcher and these features are supported in that.
The gallery app has a weird sorting order as well that you can modify in its settings, however, if you can see your restored photos in Google Photos, I would recommend changing the default gallery app as well. I use Gallery Go but I think Photos works as a default gallery as well.
