[Q] Google Frame Work - Tilt, TyTN II, MDA Vario III Android Development

Hey,
I got the scoot cyanogenmod RLS 4c and after few reboots, when I boot my device, its says google frame work is not responding.I cant tap wait and when i force close google frame work, all of the basic apps force close itself.
Sometimes it even says "system is not responding".
I also tried Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo 2.2 [RLS15] and it says the same.
Any help?

That is data corruption. What kernel are you using and how is it installed.

Ive got 2.6.32
Ive got kernel DZO 2.6.32.I installed it via hard spl.

Thats why. Upgrade to the latest l1qu1d kernel in the thread stickied at the top. Also edit the kernel with atools to match your phone.

I got the new NBH.
I used the guide from l1q1d atools thread.
I tried using the ruu tools but it says the file is bad.
How to I install it?

hey uri, use one of the builds and kernels im using in my signature they're working flawlessly on my Att Tilt, click on the word atools for a guide made by l1qu1d, its very detailed and easy to follow. Donut rls is the most stable one but its a little outdated cause my good friend warbyte has been a little busy right now, Scoot's froyo is the latest of the latest, but im still trying it, for the moment its workin nice and smooth like a delicious yogen früz cup (sorry bout the publicity moderators LOL)

How can I put the NBH in the root?
When I connect the phone to the computer using android,it doesnt work.
I tried to put the NBH on my SD but no file manager let me copy and paste.
It says i have no permission.
When the NBH will be copied, how do I install it?

You have to use a SD card reader and copy it trough windows to the main directory of the SD (dont copy it to any folder) be shure its formated FAT32 and that the readonly switch isnt at the lock position. (the little switch at the side of any microSD to SD adapter)

make sure you have HardSPL...
power off the phone, take out the stylus, with the stylus press the reboot button as you keep pressed the camera and power button, all at the same time! you will see a tri color screeen, then something like "kaisimg.nbh press the power button to start updating" so be obedient and press it!

I'm ready to throw it out the window

Hi all.
I've been lurking on the Kaiser forum for some time and have found a wealth of very useful info... Except when it comes to running Android via HaRET.
Yes, I know there have been a million questions. Yes, I have seen many of them inserted into what should be straight developer/bug threads. Even so, the "answer" to my issue doesn't work.
From "How to run Polymod’s AWESOME 2.1 Eclare Build and Updates":
Section 2 - Errors and FAQ's
===============================
#1 Failed to reach system.img on SD Card
If you see the error message below:
“Failed to reach system.img on SD Card” then you did not hold the button down correctly. You are seeing this because you missed, disabled or bypassed the install menu.

NOT TRUE. I have booted more than 20 times pressing/holding the center button at different times and with different intensities. No matter what I do, I get this blasted error message. Any solution other than the stock one listed above would be cause for hero-worship.
This error can have a number of causes, namely the file system, is the SD card formatted FAT32, ( some cards come formatted FAT16 as standard), or having the SD card set up incorrectly, for haret you need to have all files in the andboot folder.
Provided haret starts correctly, which it is since you cannot reach the post-install stage unless it is booting the kernel, then the only part of the procedure that can go wrong is the installer.
The only things I can think of that would cause the installer not to start is either the card itself, or problems with the andboot folder and/or the files inside.
The only advice I can give at the moment is to calmly start haret, watch the scrolling text until you get the pause, and the 'press d-pad to start installer' text.
At that point if you press the d-pad centre button, and hold it you will see '^@' on the screen, if you do not see the '^@' or see anything else then the installer cannot start, it will only respond to the correct key.
If you see anything else it is possible you have incorrectly set an option in default.txt file.
If all this still fails, then report back with anything you find, I may have some other ideas based on what you find out
+1 on zenitys answer and in addition you are using the correct basefiles to run haret?
Try using the screen as a giant keypad and pressing and holding the center of the screen.
EDIT: Scratch that... It only works as a keypad once the menu is up. Sorry.
that works?
Seriously?
I mean really?
No it bloody does not, ( lol, can't believe i actually tried it ).....
i had this problem and pulled my hair out, eventually i downloaded a different haret basefile and copied to my SD and bam it worked, sorry but i'm i soon after went to nand and erased the haret files so i don't have them anymore.
zenity: Yes, it is FAT32 and yes all files are in andboot. I do see a '^@' when I press the center button if I press it when prompted. If I press and hold as soon as I see Tux, I don't get that character pair. I see a different string of characters if I press one of the other buttons instead. I haven't modified the default.txt file in any way other than to re-name it from default-kaiser.txt.
I am using the files from a haretinstall.zip that I got directly from sourceforge Android HTC project (sourceforge.net/projects/androidhtc/files/... not allowed to post links <_<). The files were under the date 02-13-2010. I have since grabbed two other more current versions of haretinstall.zip and will try them after I post this. I am also using the most current androidinstall.tar and androidupdate.tar from sourceforge, though I have also tried Polyrithmic Eclair 2.1g's androidinstall.tgz.
Thanks all for the replies and I'll try those other haretinstall.zip's while waiting for any other replies.
maybe try a different sd card?
I couldn't get any nbh's to be read off of my 2gb patriot, but when i put in my 16gb sandisk the nbh's worked.
I know this is only marginally related lol, but it's worth a shot?

I do remember trying the 2/13 first and that is the one that holding the button did absolutely nothing, it was either 2/14 or 2/20 (those are in my browsing history) that did work for me. It was a "ta dah" moment when the install menu popped up.

I doubt it, cause its reading the kernel if he is getting the error message. The error message about system.img is because an install hasn't been performed to create a system.img or data.img file on the sdcard.
Actually it's very related, android seems unusually sensitive to SD card issues that winmo simply ignores.
If you have another SD card available then try that, if not then all I can suggest at the moment is reformatting a couple of times, that worked for one of my 2Gb cards that simply would not recognise my NBH files no matter what I did.
An alternative might be to grab kalt_kaffe's zimage from here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=660158
this seems to be the best zImage for eclair at the moment. Just download it, put it in andboot with the rest of the haret files, make sure it's named correctly, ( it'll probably need you to delete the zImage file already there anyway, or overwrite if you use a card reader and windows).
Since you are getting the ^@ then the kernel is running properly, that actually only leaves the SD card, the reason you get the other character pair if you press to early is that with some zImages the keyboard may not be set up early enough, which is why I always wait for the pause, never failed me yet.
Maybe... Maybe...
Thanks again all.
It may well be the SD card but a more current set of HaRET basefiles did finally fix the center button issue. I have been able to get android installed but little else. I have a blank screen (with clock, battery and wifi in the top bar) but nothing else.
I'm going to blame this issue particular tar files I used and I will go back and try the Eclaire by Polyrithmic or the one by kallt_kaffe you linked. I didn't really want the Andriod HTC tar files but was using them in an attempt to minimize the variables causing my initial button issue.
If you are going to use polymod may I suggest the 2.1D download linked in my sig, it's only the install.tar, but is pretty stable, and is in fact what I use for my everyday android on my main kaiser.
Since you have a working set of haret files, simply replace the zImage with kalt_kaffe's zImage, replace the installer with poly's 2.1D and you should hopefully be good to go
I tried 2.1d and it locked during the post-install setup. I also tried kalt_kaffe's zImage with both 2.1g and it broke my wifi.
As such, I am back to using 2.1g with the kernel that was originally bundled with it... Even bluetooth seems to work. I can see my lappy but I haven't tried pairing yet. No microphone though as far as I can tell. It'll be awesome once the ethereal developers find a way to make the camera work.
At least now I have something new to play with. I'm eying Warm Donut b/c I like the look but I don't know if I want to undo the working install I have. Never know till you try, right?
I guess this is probably already well-known but my kaiser's camera works under Warm Donut. The pics aren't all that great but it does take them.
If anyone else stops by... I'm having audio problems. I'd had audio problems with all the different Android releases I've tried so far. The main problem is that there is no audio. No alerts, rings or media.
Any suggestions?

The way I understand it, that can be affected by your radio firmware... The radio firmware I use without any problems for android is in my sig.
Please post which one you are using, too!
Good call! I hadn't considered my radio version though I have seen numerous posts suggesting that users upgrade... Or at least swap theirs out.
WM6 indicates that my radio version is 1.27.14.09.
Radio 1.27.14.09
Protocol 22.45.88.07h
ROM 1.62.00.00
I'll do a little reading and see if I can't figure out how to swap a new radio (probably the one you're using) in.
Ok that's one old radio, go here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=393182, get the 1.71.09.01 linked at the bottom of post #3, it's an nbh file, so just rename it to KAISimg.nbh, put it on SD and flash the same as the Nand nbh, it will not affect anything, just upgrades the radio.
I got the radio nbh and now I am working out how to use nand. Most everything I see is geared toward wiping windows to replace it with android. I don't want to do that yet so I'm trying to parse now to flash this nbh without jacking up my device or the windows that is currently on it.

Hi arjunking,
Firstly, Thanks!
I suspect a lot of people might be still struggling with this, like I am.
The first issue I have is this:
Step 1 "Extract Psfreedom to root of your internal storage. Replace module and zimage file"
I'm running XDANDROID.2.2.AOSP.29.7.10.RC2.1. Looking at the 'andboot' folder (where I run xdandroid from) the module file has a different name that the module file in the psfreedom package. Therefore, 'replace the module file' doesn't occur.
Does this indicate I'm using the wrong xdandroid version? Will it be a problem?
First of all, thanks for this guide, i answers some questions that most of us have, but not some of the other,
What build of xdandroid is reccomended?

Just put both files in internal storage, it works for me
thanks.
I have htc diam500.
I didn't use those crappy "andboot" folders.
I did EVERYTHING from the root. I also tried like 3 different versions of the psfreedom.ko file(one with bmdv* support) and some other one.
So I think it comes down to having the right psfreedom file and LUCK.
Also once you install the emulator(the thing you do after installing Xandroid) if you get a # and blank line than you've done it right. After that just plug it up to your ps3 when it's completly off.

OK, I'm almost there.
I should've tried it before I posted because apparently it doesn't matter if the modules file in the psfreedom package has a different name to the one in the xdandroid folder. I just deleted the original 'modules-2.6.27.46-01130-g0ac6681.tar' and copied over the one from the psfreedom package 'modules-2.6.27.46-01162-g741ab49-dirty.tar'
I've got to the point of starting my first backup.
This brings me to my next question:
1. When using the backup manager there is no option to backup to an external hard disk.
So how do I either:
a) backup to external hdd, or
b) move my backups from the internal hdd to an external hdd when they're done?
Update: OK, now that I've got a Fat32 formatted external hdd connected the 'backup manager' prompts me to backup to external hard disk

ummm I'm not sure on that. You would prob. have to google that. or just save it to your internal drive on the ps3 and when it's done see if they would let you do it is the only way I know.

Also, if you run xdandroid from a location other than the root of internal storage, you need to make a corresponding change to step 6. In my case:

thanks for this...... working 100% with diam100 and ps3 with 3.41 firmware....

delete the module already present there and extract the new one from the psfreedom file.
Is there any way to run a script automatically on terminal start up that would basically run the 3 commands

HaRET freezes after the vibrate.
Hello everyone,
I'm facing a problem that sometimes goes away. When i start HaRET, it freezes after it vibrates. What could be the problem? I'm using a HTC Touch Pro(not a diamond)
I Hope that someone has a solution for this problem.
that maybe cause of the android you are using. try reinstalling android using a new or different build. try the one in first post.

Formatted a 128mb micro sd card(i know it needs to be more for datastore), copied the files to the root of the card and run it. It looked like it was fixed, but it frozen after doing some things to load up android.
you need atleast 300mb of space for proper functioning of android.
it will kinda extract the sy.ext2 file which is of 90 mb so it takes all your space.

[Q] android install..please help!!..ive read guides

hey guys, im sure this is getting old for some..but yes im a newbie, 8925 user. ive read the android install on htc by l1q1d, which i thought brought me in the correct position.. (not to say it wasnt a good guide, im sure it is..im a noob) i was wrong heres what im using and trying to accomplish, i sarted out reading "How to replace Windows Mobile with Android (Guide)" the first thread, i used jump spl 1.93 , flashed hard spl 3.56, flashed radio 1.71.09.01, then i used the htc on droid guide on atools to configure my kernal (which i loaded while in atools, i tried both 2.6.52 and 2.6.32-which is the current one im using )saved the KAISIMG.NBH in the root of my sd card(2GB HP i think its class 4) then set up my androidinstall.tgz(Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo RLS16 All Languages) in the atools mixer with the unique module update in atools V1.0.4 and extracted them together. saved the androidinstall.tgz in the /storagecard/andboot. then used BSE boot script editor, to setup my install-seq.sh which i also saved to the /andboot folder.
Heres my current specs again in line:
jump spl 1.93
hardspl 3.56
radio 1.71.09.01
kernal 2.6.32
Build Incubus26Jc's Super FroYo RLS16 All Languages with atools module update extracted together
when installing , the farthest point i reached was a succesful install of kernal, then reboot, install-seq.sh started---end result "could not determine file system size", failed, failed to format.
im currently trying to use nand for system and sd card for data , not sure what SWAP means?...
as for the seetings for fstab on atools ( which was the most confusing for me), i p
SYSTEM- NAND p2
DATA- sd partition p2
SWAP- sd partition p3
ive also tried system as nand p2, and data as nand p3 and swap at auto, cause i figured im having issues with my sd card , but then it said something about "install update module for kernal". im stumped any information you can helkp with would be greatly appreciated, here a few links to pics of the settings i made in atools, thanks alot
Hmmm, I have just tried that myself and I think it might be a bug in atools - I was changing nand partition sizes and the only combination I could get to work was Atools 1.0.4 with all fstab setting set to auto (I haven't tried Atools 1.0.5 yet, but 1.1.0 didn't work for any combination of settings for me)
Also I've never used the install-seq.sh so I can't help with that.
As a "good" starting point try using Atools 1.0.4 , latest kernel, don't change system/data partition sizes and leave all fstab settings on auto.
Flash that nbh then install through the boot menu (hold D-pad centre on boot)
If that works, then it will be easier to work from there to find out what exactly was causing the problem
huh, yup im learning as i go lol , i have tried to boot without using the install-seq file but have not tried to install with fstab on auto. what does that mean though, if its placed on auto is it going to just pick whatever i feel like at the moment , im assuming system will be on nand , but what about data. and also ive tried looking it up but what does SWAP mean? thanks alot im gonna try what u said
EDIT: ok i tried that out i got into the manual install by pressing the dpad center button, then i picked system and data to be installed on nand , then installed, then quit, then it, loaded for a while then it went to a droid screen and a animated green ball that seemed to be loading but just stayed there and did nothing. so i turned off the phone.... could it be because i didnt press 4. install update(do i even need to)? OR should i have installed system on nand then data on sd partition?
try again, and leave it a bit longer, the first boot of an un-odexed build can take aver long time, maybe about 10 minutes
swap is extra space for RAM, but on the NAND memory or SD card - like a swap partition on linux or a pagefile on windows. By default there is no swap partition used.
option 4: "install update" extracts the contents of an androidupdate.tar or .tgz file in the andboot folder, if you haven't got an androidupdate file you're trying to use then you don't need to use this option
allright ill try it now thanks man
i tried it again, but this time i used thoughtlesskyles not so super froyo rls18 and i waited , and it finally came up its installed ive checked a few things, calling works, wifi ,navigation maps some cool stuff. im gonna use this for a while then try my luck on some other endeavors. thanks again

[Q] Latest xdandroid for touch pro 2 how-to

to get started, it really doesn't get any simpler than downloading the latest FRX03 from here:
http://sites.google.com/site/androidport/downloads
(i'd recommend the RAR version, so you can unzip it into your SD card faster)
after that, just use WM's file explorer navigate to andboot and run haret.exe and you're "done"
----
(optional) with a little bit of more effort, go into the top sticky of this forum, and update to the latest Kernel (1253). the current Kernel in FRX03 from Dec 20 is (i believe) 1232.
It's sort of that easy, but I had this same question before I did it too. It would have been nice if the FAQ said this explicitly.
If you download the rar archive, it will extract out in its own subdirectory, e.g.
XDAndroid2.2Froyo.XXxxXX/andboot/...
The first thing I do is move the andboot subdirectory to the root of the SD card.
The next thing is to edit the andboot/startup.txt file to match your phone. I guess you can use the XDAndroidStartup utility to take care of this instead, but the first time I tried that it failed because of that silly runtime dependency.
If you want to use the startup utility, and it gives you an error and refuses to run, you need to install the updated net framework like it talks about on this page:
http://sites.google.com/site/androidport/startup-utility
Thanks guy I will give it a try and post if I have questions. I love the design/setup of my TP2 but I hate the windows OS.

Kind of got it working, but have no idea how to use it fun stuff.

If your phone is in GSM mode, you'll want it in. Check your startup.txt, you'll need force_cdma=0 in there.
If you're on CDMA, I believe you do have to have the SIM removed, yes. Also, the above command should have a 1 instead of 0.
^^ I'm not positive about that piece, but I do know that Android on our phones will only recognize one or the other - GSM or CDMA. Maybe we'll get it to recognize both one day, I saw an entry for it in the RIL...
I do know that I have CDMA. Plus how do update the kernel, where do I put it?

You simply replace your existing kernel and modules.
So delete the existing zImage/modules-xxxx.tar.gz, and put in the new zImage/modules-xxx.tar.gz. Don't rename the modules file, but be sure the zImage file is named just that - zImage.
The files go where you run haret.exe from - typically the root of the SD, or in /andboot.
UH-OH, not sure what happened. I reformated my SD card to do a new run since I found what I wanted. Now it seems like I can do everything but make calls in WM6.5. What do I do

Android should have no effect on WinMo (assuming you're using haret/install on your SD). Plus, this really isn't a place to get help with WinMo.
Do the usual - soft reset, hard reset, reflash of stock ROM.

I know, I'm trying to put android on it and I am using haret from the SD card. I'm just not sure if this is will effect android or is a common problem. Thanks though, I have been going through those things while i wait.

CWM NEOFroyo v0.1 fastest build yet (updated8/21/11))

This is a complete package just unzip folder on sd card.
Here is original thread by neopeek
people having wifi problems check the original thread they have a fix
This is the CWM 1.9 thread wich is included in folder already
Using starfox test kernel from XDA (Rhodium only)
EDIT: per starfox dont use test kernels use his new vanilla stable kernel
GAPPS already included.
Im not a dev, just put stuff together credit goes to all authors just posting here to spread the word
DOWNLOAD
Sure, I'll bite. I've got an extra micro-sd card here. What's the worst that could happen?
It's a pretty fast build, I tried it on Neopeeks site.
It is MDPI, so the look of it isn't quite as crisp... (you can see what I mean by the notification bar 3g, etc...lower resolution basically) but I was impressed by the speed. All the animations, etc are disabled by default and I believe that's Zeam that is the default launcher... it is quite snappy out of the box.
what tweaks you did?
no tweaks just put it together
This version is the fastest thing I've tried (probably due to mdpi-gapps), but I have two major issues.
1) Wifi will sometimes refuse to turn on, saying wifi error on the check box. It must be related to tethering and hotspot settings, because after I mess with these I get an instant reboot.
2) Camera is tremendously unstable. Most of the times it crashes bringing down the entire OS or if I am lucky it will crash the camera app and refuse to start again until a reboot.
Of course there are random hiccups here and there (like most builds), but it is quite close replacing WM for every day usage.

This is actually not that unusual... I would get this on my epic4g... which is an android phone .
If you don't mind, please use the vanilla kernel that I posted instead of the testing kernel. While I don't mind that it is being bundled, the [Test] kernel was never meant to be used for long term, and is liable to include stuff that is unstable and/or changed on my whim. The vanilla kernel contains some of the tweaks that I consider to be stable and is based on known autobuild releases+supports all devices. Thanks.

you think you can make a build with the latest rootfs, starfox's latest kernel, the led patches too?

There's nothing stopping you from doing that.
Including testing stuff into a public build is never a good idea. I wouldn't appreciate anything I distribute for testing to be put into a build. It's meant for testing, so anyone that installs/uses it should know full well what they're getting into. Placing it into a build circumvents that, and everyone ends up using it unknowingly.
To everybody with wi-fi issue:
I've done a small fix
http://www.multiupload.com/7NSGZQZXPC
(wich is in the first post of this thread on neopeek.com)
This will fix if your problem isn't the kernel
wifi scanning problem:
after updating wifi-nvram seems to be ok.

What problem did you have exactly and what do you mean by updating wifi-nvram?
I also have a wifi problem specifically with this build but can't solve it.
(Wifi works only once per boot)
after turning wifi on phone started scanning for networks. after few seconds app crashed not finding anything. i guess there is a problem with assigning mac address.
anyway, as already described, it is known problem :

Can't get CWM working
Hey guys,
I must be doing something wrong, but don't know what.
I just can't get CWM running on my TP2. I followed all the instructions precisely, got into CWM once, even flashed the ROM from SD card, but can't do it again.
I even reflashed my device, Re did the entire SD card but just can't get in to CWM.
Upon booting Haret, I press volume down, but the screen just gets stuck there and doesn't move forward. Please help, I'm trying to flash NeoFroyo 0.1
Regards,
Nilesh

Yes I did that too....
SD Card (All Partitions Primary)
Partition 1: 6.4 GB - FAT32
Partition 2: System - 300 MB - EXT2
Partition 1: Data - 300 MB - EXT2
Partition 1: Cache - 300 MB - EXT2
I put the npkboot folder with startup for RHOD100 on the SD Card (Root) and the NeoFroyo Zip also on the root.
Plus, I also put the contents of the npkboot folder on root of the phone. (Not the folder npkboot)
Run Haret from SD Card through File Explorer & press Volume Down - Result: Frozen Screen!!!
Does not enter into CWM recovery...
Are all the steps above right.

WHY?
CWM rootfs works only in npkboot.

I'm a little confused with what you did.
Basically just unzip his folder you downloaded and then move the Entire npkboot folder to the root of ur sd card.
So there will be nothing on your sd card except the folder. Inside that folder will be everything just as you unzipped it. So for example haret would be at "Sdcard/npkboot/haret.exe". Then just switch/edit the startup.txt in the npkboot folder for your phone and boot into CWM.
You don't need to move anything outside of his npkboot folder that you unzipped.
