.APK files from market location - Galaxy S I9000 Themes and Apps

Hey,
I'm looking for application where I can locate .apk files when I downloaded from Android market. I know the Android mate offer my solution, but when I'm trying to find the files on the phone, it's not there. I wish to move my .apk files somewhere else on my phone folder.
Is it because the file is hidden or something?
Help would be much appreciated! =)

For first your device must be rooted.
In root directory / data / app
Regards

you can also find it in /system/app (must be rooted)
Rgd,
__________
Device: SAMSUNG Galaxy GT-I9000 S, SDHC 8 GB
Product Code: GT-I9000HKDBRI
Firmware: I9000ZSJPD/I9000OZSJPD/I9000ZSJPE/I9000ZSJPD

No you don't have to root your phone. Just download EStrong file manager. Click the "/" button on the top left to navigate to the root folder.

In that directory are android stock apps (not from market, wich our member ask), but from Market downloaded apk are in directory: /data/app

Actually there are several different locations where you can find them. Which is why you need Android mate.

Download APK from market straight to pc?

I'm trying to work out how to download the APKs from the market straight onto my computer, or at least find a way of getting them there (apart from using a backup tool) any ideas?
AFAIK it's not possible officially.
use the force my friend
Using Elixir + RootExplorer I found some APKs in /data/app. So, you must to install the apps you want and after get the .apk you need.
Regards.

That's also my advice. But you do not need elixir, imho. Just install app, go to /data/app and copy its apk to sdcard, connect computer and copy apk on computer.

(REF) How to "IMPORT" your local Swype language/dictionary - NOOB method

OK, this is a noob guide on how to have your own Swype language on any firmware. There might be an easier way, but this is all I know.
This might be helpful for people using more than one language who wants to try new firmware from different region which might not have his/her local language/dictionary.
Requirements:
1. Rooted phone. I use this.
2. Busybox installed (i don't think it is really necessary). You can download the 1.17.1 version from here
3. Root explorer (download from market)
How to:
1. First, you have to have firmware from your own region. Usually, you'll have your local language/dictionary on this firmware. Since I came from south east asia, I use DXJF4.
2. Now, using root explorer, click the Mount R/W first.
3. Go to system - app and then copy swype.apk (hold long, choose copy)
4. Copy it somewhere else. I copied mine to external SD card (sdcard - sd).
5. Extract copied swype by hold long - copy. Root explorer will extract them all to sdcard/extracted.
6. Go to sdcard/extracted folder, click on Swype, assets, then files. Now, you want to copy ALL of the files in this folder to your external SD card.
7. Now, after you secured the earlier swype.apk (let's called this original swype) and all the contents on sdcard/extracted/swype/assets/files, you can proceed to flash your new firmware (i used DDJG4).
8. After flashing new firmware, get it rooted and installed root explorer again.
9. Using root explorer, copy all the files on sdcard/extracted/swype/assets/files/ to data/data/com.swype.android.inputmethod/swypedata/
Overwrite everything (if asked).
10. Then, still using root explorer, click your earlier Swype.apk (original swype) and chose install.
11. Voila, you'll have your "original" sets of language on the "foreign" firmware.
Let me know if this works for you
Looks like a nice find allthough i have not yet tried it.. Maybe i will someday when i get my galaxy S
do not work for me..
I had done until number 11, and succeeded.
but when Swype executed. the keyboard would not come out.

I guess you're using non standard keyboard? Keyboard that is not included on the original ROM?
I still haven't found where to copy/paste the keyboard layout. Sorry

[Q] re-installing HTC Sense apps

Hi Folks
I hope someone can help me out here...
I recently cleaned out my rooted DHD with Titanium backup, removing all Vodafone branded crap in there, but i accidentally also removed HTC Music, lol
Fortunately i made a nandroid backup with CWM, but I'm unable to browse the content as it seems the .bin archive is not accessible/compatible with the standard compression tools (like winrar)
How do i access the archive, and where (what folder on my DHD) do i copy the HTC music .apk to when extracted?
Or can i just re-install the apk with HTC sync?
If it's not possible then that's OK as I'm using Poweramp at the moment.....
thanks in advance!
get a rooted stock rom with your base (1.32, 1.72...) , extract the htcmusic.apk from it and move it to your system/app with root explorer or adb
Thanks for your swift response!
I got hold of a stock ROM (from the development threads here) but have the same problem as with my nandroid backup.. i cannot open/browse the archive content.
Should i use some specific tool to be able to extract/browse the .img archives?
Here you go, extracted it from [ROM] LeeDrOiD HD v2.2.3 [Kernel] LeeDrOiD v2.2.9 .zip file instead of the stock .img, using 7-Zip program for Windows 7 PC. When using it, right click -> open archive -> System / App -> copy........
View attachment HtcMusic.apk
Extracting the apps from a custom ROM is the best and simplest way to do this.
If anyone needs to extract his nandroid backup though, unyaffs (http://code.google.com/p/unyaffs/) and cygwin (or a native Linux environment) will do the trick.
Thanks all for your advice and guidance.. i got HTC music back with both the methods mentioned here
At least i know now how to get in to the nandroid archive.
Cheers, R
Gents,
I need your help again...
Now I've managed to get HtcMusic.apk back to my system/app folder.
I've tried to push the .apk with ADB but that didn't work as the system/app folder was read only, so i had to copy the apk to the root my sd stick and move it to the proper folder with root explorer after i changed the folder to temporarily read/write.
But now the application doesn't show up anywhere on my phone - Like its invisible - I rebooted the phone but that has no effect as well.
I can only find it with root explorer.
How can i get it to work again?
Did you change the permissions to be the same as the other files in that directory?
yes i did, like all the other files in that directory: rw--r--r--
but to no effect
Did you try using package installer to install from the new directory or sdcard?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
No i did not try that yet.. i just moved the apk. from my sd/root to system/app as advised here..
Sorry for the dumb question, but where can i find package installer?
edit: Ok i found i can install via root explorer, but it doesn't seem to work.. packet not installed, not even when i change the system/ap directory to read/write and change the apk permissions to r/w/x
Should i try to install the apk via HTC synch on my PC? (although i understood that it is not possible to reinstall sense apps this way)
Hi,
Has anyone an idea what i can try next?
perhaps fixing permissions in rom manager, or installing the .apk via recovery?
And I'm also wondering if the system/app directory is the correct folder where HTC Music goes (because there's also an /data/app and data/data folder where HTC apps reside).. Can someone check and confirm please?
thanks
I think it's safe to bump the thread as more that a month has passed.
Does anyone have an idea what to try next? All my attempts have failed so far.
Would also like to know if system/app is the correct folder where htcmusic.apk is installed as there's also /data/app and data/data folder where HTC apps reside
Ok, im a bit closer getting it to work.
I flashed HTC music in a zip file through CWM recovery - A guy from an Dutch Android revolution site made a zip and advised to flash it via CWM recovery - and the app is back.
the only thing is that it force_closes (com.htc.music stopped unexpectedly)
Fixing permissions through rom manager doesn't work either.
What can i do next?
p.s. HTC music version i'm using is 2.0.0000.278886 - So maybe it's an outdated version?
My DHD
Android ver: 2.2
Baseband: 12.28b.60.140eU_26.03.02.26_M
Kernel: 2.6.32.21-gf3f553d [email protected] #1 Thu Oct 28 13:24:11 CST 2010
Build: 1.39.161.1 CL278886 release-keys = Is Vodafone build

[APP] Samsung Apps for any Custom Roms

Notice:
Actually, I don't know this application is necessary for you or not

One of them that I felt missing from stock ROM is Samsung Apps
So I will share apk files from this apps
How to install?
The zip file is not flashable, extract it, and install 2 files as normally (tap & install)
And it easy to Uninstall from Apps Manager
Note:
This apps is not latest version, but the apps will updates automatically
I hope you like it

This can happen if you have your activity declared twice in your AndroidManifest.xml file. And by twice, I mean one: as a normal activity and two: as the launcher.
Make sure every activity in the manifest file is declared only once.
1. try another explorer to install it, eg Astro or Root Explorer.
2. If method 1 doesn't help, delete file .android_secure/smdl2tmpl.asec from SD Card. If the folder .android_secure is empty on your file manager, delete it from PC
I hope it will help you

samsung apps cant install as common apk files. its require touchwiz framework.
try this instead http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1773983
It worked perfectly for me. Some apps downloaded by the application fail to install, but not all. I managed to install Samsung Apps moving both files to system/app via Root Explorer. After I changed the permissions to RW-R-R.
I would like to add my Samsung account on the phone, but I need the apk files. Do you know where can I find?

[Q] Samsung keyboard

I have a tab 3 7.0, I'm trying to use Google keyboard however it doesn't stay checked in settings...is there anyway of stopping Samsung keyboard from being the only one available?
I'm also using Stock Series ROM.
Use a file explorer with root privileges, and delete the Samsung Keyboard (should be an .apk file in system/app)
