Hi Folks
I hope someone can help me out here...
I recently cleaned out my rooted DHD with Titanium backup, removing all Vodafone branded crap in there, but i accidentally also removed HTC Music, lol
Fortunately i made a nandroid backup with CWM, but I'm unable to browse the content as it seems the .bin archive is not accessible/compatible with the standard compression tools (like winrar)
How do i access the archive, and where (what folder on my DHD) do i copy the HTC music .apk to when extracted?
Or can i just re-install the apk with HTC sync?
If it's not possible then that's OK as I'm using Poweramp at the moment.....
thanks in advance!
get a rooted stock rom with your base (1.32, 1.72...) , extract the htcmusic.apk from it and move it to your system/app with root explorer or adb
Thanks for your swift response!
I got hold of a stock ROM (from the development threads here) but have the same problem as with my nandroid backup.. i cannot open/browse the archive content.
Should i use some specific tool to be able to extract/browse the .img archives?
Here you go, extracted it from [ROM] LeeDrOiD HD v2.2.3 [Kernel] LeeDrOiD v2.2.9 .zip file instead of the stock .img, using 7-Zip program for Windows 7 PC. When using it, right click -> open archive -> System / App -> copy........
View attachment HtcMusic.apk
Extracting the apps from a custom ROM is the best and simplest way to do this.
If anyone needs to extract his nandroid backup though, unyaffs (http://code.google.com/p/unyaffs/) and cygwin (or a native Linux environment) will do the trick.
Thanks all for your advice and guidance.. i got HTC music back with both the methods mentioned here
At least i know now how to get in to the nandroid archive.
Cheers, R
Gents,
I need your help again...
Now I've managed to get HtcMusic.apk back to my system/app folder.
I've tried to push the .apk with ADB but that didn't work as the system/app folder was read only, so i had to copy the apk to the root my sd stick and move it to the proper folder with root explorer after i changed the folder to temporarily read/write.
But now the application doesn't show up anywhere on my phone - Like its invisible - I rebooted the phone but that has no effect as well.
I can only find it with root explorer.
How can i get it to work again?
Did you change the permissions to be the same as the other files in that directory?
yes i did, like all the other files in that directory: rw--r--r--
but to no effect
Did you try using package installer to install from the new directory or sdcard?
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
No i did not try that yet.. i just moved the apk. from my sd/root to system/app as advised here..
Sorry for the dumb question, but where can i find package installer?
edit: Ok i found i can install via root explorer, but it doesn't seem to work.. packet not installed, not even when i change the system/ap directory to read/write and change the apk permissions to r/w/x
Should i try to install the apk via HTC synch on my PC? (although i understood that it is not possible to reinstall sense apps this way)
Hi,
Has anyone an idea what i can try next?
perhaps fixing permissions in rom manager, or installing the .apk via recovery?
And I'm also wondering if the system/app directory is the correct folder where HTC Music goes (because there's also an /data/app and data/data folder where HTC apps reside).. Can someone check and confirm please?
thanks
I think it's safe to bump the thread as more that a month has passed.
Does anyone have an idea what to try next? All my attempts have failed so far.
Would also like to know if system/app is the correct folder where htcmusic.apk is installed as there's also /data/app and data/data folder where HTC apps reside
Ok, im a bit closer getting it to work.
I flashed HTC music in a zip file through CWM recovery - A guy from an Dutch Android revolution site made a zip and advised to flash it via CWM recovery - and the app is back.
the only thing is that it force_closes (com.htc.music stopped unexpectedly)
Fixing permissions through rom manager doesn't work either.
What can i do next?
p.s. HTC music version i'm using is 2.0.0000.278886 - So maybe it's an outdated version?

Android ver: 2.2

When i install an application from the market, in which folder it has been installed? Can i change the installation folder manually and collect all the installations into one folder i.e. /mnt/sdcard/Applications?
Also, where i can find .apk files downloaded from Android Market?
PS. I have Official Froyo ROM (not rooted)
Hi all,
I'm trying to install adobe flash to the system partition to save space. I've done it by adding the flash apk and libs to the gapps addon (required for CM6 anyway).
I can see in root explorer that in /system/apps I've got com.adobe.flashplayer.apk, and in /system/lib i've got libflashplayer.so and libysshared.so.
Under settings->applications I can see that Adobe Flash Player 10.1 is present.
In browser settings, Enable plugins is set to "on demand".
But when I try a flash site that used to work, it no longer does. What am I missing?
Thanks for any help,
Phil
It seems if you leave the .so files where they were in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib, eveything works. So it looks like the app doesn't bother to check /system/lib, but goes straight to its own data folder.
Any way to remedy this? I've saved 4-5 MB on /data by moving the apk to /system, but the .so files are 8MB between them, i'd like to get them on /system as well.
Before flashing a ROM, move the APK file into the /system/app folder in the ZIP file and then re-zip it

Hi Eddy, that's exactly what I did as I said in my first post. It didn't work initially, but I now have it working by restoring the /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib folder with the two libs in it.
So the apk is in /system/app, but there are still these two big libs on /data taking up about 8MB. I was wondering if there is any way to get the system to pick them up from /system/lib like with all the other libs.
Cheers for any help,
Phil
I just have the APK in /system/app and it's fine - got over 100MB of storage (but I only use 5 apps and have them all moved to /system/app)
really? can you do me a favour and check in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib and see what you have in there? Should be one huge (~7mb) .so file and a smaller one.
you definitely have the latest flash 10.1 final? version 10.1.92.8? (check in settings->applications).
I'm thinking of creating symlinks in /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer/lib to the two files in /system/lib and see if that works.
Yes I do have the latest it's there by default in Paul's MCR r8 ROM (first thing I did once it was out) - he normally has it set to go to /data/app but I move it (and the other 5 apps) to the /system/app folder and it's fine...I'll have to install Root Explorer again to check the folder, though...
EDIT: Checked that folder, there's nothing in there at all...
Oh. Huh. Can you check and see if they're in /system/lib? I wonder how paul's got this set up. Should probably just ask him
What file(s) am I looking for?
libflashplayer.so and libysshared.so. Cheers
libflashplayer.so is, libysshared.so isn't
ok thanks for your help i tried the symlinks and it works for now although i guess its a bit hacky. Don't know why yours picks it up from /system/lib and mine won't. I'll see if I can get one of the elder gods to give up their wisdom

any progress on this? I also would like to push those shared objects into the /system/lib/ folder to save on space
You need to have the matching apk and libraries in /system for it to work.

Had the libs in /system whith fresh MCR r8 ROM .. once i upgraded via Market to latest version they were also in /data/data.
So is there a way to get them to /system again (so that they will really be taken from there by the apk) ?
I am S-Off so the moving itself is easy ;-)
Marcus
soory if i dug an ol thread but i cant make it work...
copy the apk file to /system/app via root explorer and reboot...
in settings/application/manage application/all/
Adobe flash player is in it but it is only 56kb..
set browser for enable plugin to be 'on-demand' and 'always on' but no go (tried surfing on adobe flash mobile showcase site).....
to think i am thinking to move adobe air using this method too..
what else is needed?
Running Nexus One, CM6.0
Hi everyone!
I see this thread is a a bit old, but I've been trying to do the exact same thing with installing Flash Player in /system. My device also won't find the libs in /system/lib, so I'm thinking about doing the symlink stuff as well, but I'm not quite sure how to do this, since I don't have a lot of linux experience. Could you please help out a little?
Will this work?
Code:
ln -s /data/data/com.adobe.flashplayer /system/lib/com.adobe.flashplayer
Also, just to check: is there anything else I should do besides copying the libs Adobe Flash installs in its /data/data folder to /system/lib and creating the link?
Thanks a lot!
Not needed to make symlinks.
Just create folder /system/lib/plugins/com.adobe.flashplayer and move libs to it.
..
I tried to take the messaging apk and the htc.ime apks from the virtuous fusion rom because i want to use them on Insertcoin_vision rom running 2.1 sense+ 3.0.Is there anyway that i can do this ??
Put the rom.zip on you computer and unzip it. Then look in system/app for the apk's.
Now there is a good chance that these apk's won't actually work on the insertcoin rom. For a lot of sense apps to work they are dependent an the sense framework and this varys from version to version.
Easiest way to then install is adb if you know who to use adb, cool. If not I'm not going to explain here and you will need to follow the instructions bellow
you won't be able to install like a normal app you would have to place then in the /system/app folder and make sure the permissions were set correctly. The best way to do this is using root explorer or something similar. Place the apk on your sd card and copy them to the folder. If your using root explorer once you have copied them th the correct folder press and hold on the app to bring up them menu and select permissions. The permissions need to be the same as the other apps in the /system/app folder. You will need to move the original apk before copy the new ones in make sure you put these on your sdcard.
Then reboot, but be prepared for the apps not to work.

Did you ever extract the keyboard from Virtuous Fusion? I am interested in it as well.
I have never used Virtuous ROMs but I am curious, what is special about the keyboard? Is it not just the stock HTC keyboard?

Hello great community. I have a yakju version of Galaxy Nexus and my case goes like this :
First
Unlocked
Unrooted
Running ICS 4.0.4 ( build IMM76I , XXLA2 radio ) stock
Meanwhile
Installing Nexus Root Toolkit v1.5
BackUp Files, Contacts, SMS etc
Unlock and Root
BackUp with ROM Manager ClockworkMod
Install stock ICS 4.1.1 Jelly Bean ( f946a4120eb1.signed-yakju-JRO03C-from-IMM76I.f946a412.zip )
Then
Running ICS 4.1.1 but with these problems :
1. When i go to set a ringtone it open my file browser (ES File Explorer) to select a file (!) and not the common ringtone list. Like there's no ringtones in phone.
2. I restored contacts successfully but there aren't sorted in groups as i had it. (Friends, Family etc)
3. I cannot delete some folders and files in my sdcard (like my rom backup - i have stored this in my pc btw)
4. I cannot root again using SuperSU (failed)
Any help about any of above would appreciate it. Thank you

1. The ES File Explorer is set as the default application that is opened when you want to select a ringtone.
Go to Settings, Apps, ES File Explorer, then press clear defaults. It should now ask you which application you want to use to select a ringtone.
2. You will have to do this again manually, unless you have your contacts on google or another service.
3. I'm not sure about this. Try deleting them by connecting to a PC.
4. You need to use a new version of SuperSU, I've attached it in this post.
Enjoy Jelly Bean!

Thank you very much! I have another question about the attached app. It's a zip file which contains META Information and binaries in a System folder. So i have to place the binaries at the right place in my phone (obviously at /system/xbin , /system/app ) right? And the META folder goes where?

No do not extract the Zip file!
If you have ClockWordMod installed simply boot into it and use install zip file command from it, and locate the zipped file (on your phone memory).
If you do not have CWM, use fastboot to boot into CWM (you can find that information on some other threads), and install the zip file from there.
Follow these steps: (except with the above zip file)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=26328017&postcount=123
You have to copy over the zip file to your phone first, then boot into CWM, and install the zip file.

All Good! But i noticed another "problem" now.. in my Gallery i have a folder named "imageDownloader" who contains 700+ photos. I delete them all and after reboot it exists again. What is that anyway?
update: The images belongs to a folder named "07-11-2012_21-01" , it seems to be cached data of the app "Thumb". This folder is created by the backup, is located in sdcard and i can't delete it, even through my pc.. i don't know why :/
Unable to connect to Wireless N-only or 5GGz networks after update
I've been unable to connect to my home network on either band in the 'N' mode since updating to Jelly Bean. I have no problems seeing both networks and it says they're "saved", but when I click connect, it doesn't proceed to "authenticating" or obtaining an IP address.
I've tried several Custom ROMs with the same result, and I've never had this problem with any ICS versions and can regain connectivity by rolling back the update.
I've tried low-level troubleshooting (no network encryption, MAC reservation, multiple reboots, etc.) with no luck. I'm currently forced in a mixed N/G mode on 2.4 GHz to use my Wi-Fi.
There have been occasional reports of this over the last year or so on various platforms, but I'm wondering if there's any software/files, etc. that can be tweaked or looked at to see where this issue is manifested.
I cannot delete some files located in my /sdcard. I tried through "Root Browser" , through my PC... nothing worked :/ Any help please?

I'm having the same problem of being unable to delete some files off the internal sdcard. Anyone figure out a solution yet?

Hi,
I need to install HTC's Locations app on any custom ROM (ie: MyOneV or CM9/CM10)
So any1 can help me with this ?
(i tried it though, by moving these files (from MyOneV5.0FX Removed apks) htclocation.apk,locationpicker.apk,locatiooninstaller.apk in System/app folder bt it didn't worked)
When you move those files to system app manually, you need to put right permission rw-r--r-- then reboot.
Or the simplest way is, open the Removed_Apks_RC5.x.zip with 7-zip (not extract), delete all apks that you don't need and leave those location files in zip.
Then flash the zip in recovery.
And these files will not work on a CM rom.

Thankz
I tried that too, by removing all apks from zip keeping the said three files & flash it in recovery, still it doesn't appeared in apps!
Though i'll try again may b missed something or some file..
I just tried it, it works.
Your filename looks different, attached here the files from the Removed_Apks_RC5.x.zip, I named it to location.zip. Flash in recovery.
It Worked: Thanx
