[Q] WP7 - Style Theme for HD MINI. Anyone? - HD Mini Themes and Apps

Hello,
as I am looking forward for receiving my HD MINI aka PHOTON on Monday, I can't wait to start customizing it. AFAIK there will be no official support for Windows Phone 7 for our phones in the future, so I started to look for an application launcher / today screen app that provides an WP7dish feeling. After a little research I found this theme for SPB Mobile Shell http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=649362 which looks pretty nice, but obviously has no HVGA support. Now I am thinking about starting an complete own project. But before I start, I would like to ask you, if there is already a working WP7-Theme for the HD MINI that I have not found. If not, do you know a tutorial or something like that that describes how theme creation for SPB-Mobile works?
So long

Okay, I started to design a skin for rltoday exspecially for the HD MINI. Looks pretty cool, but I want to ask you, if someone knows how to dectivate the scrollbar in the today screen and activate kinetic scrolling? That would make things a lot easier for me. I can post some screenshots, if you want.

Wisbar Advanced Desktop 2 or Touch FLow 3D???
Ive had my HD for a week now and barely scratched the surface of this fantastic piece of kit, Im still running the bog standard HTC TF3D theme/homescreen, the thing is, the more WAD2 stuff I see, the more I like. I've checked out www.lakeridgesoftware.com and www.swampthing.net and I think Im going to go with WAD2. Just wondering what the general opinion is...pros and cons?
Thanks guys, great forum btw !
pros : you can do just about anything you want with WAD
Cons : steep learning curve I've found

Ok mate, thanks. Presumably by steep learning curve, it depends how far you are willing or 'able'(!) to go into it? There seems to be alot of info floating around here and other net forums.
Any more opinions?
I'm using WAD2 as of right now and love all the capabilities of the software. I agree that it is a steep learning curve but for us WM users, isn't that one of the pluses for owning these awesome devices? WAD2 outperforms TF3D as far as usefulness functionality.
The only thing I miss about TF3D is the weather animation...which I believe will soon be incorporated somehow in WAD2!
TF3D looks pretty to start with but it always seems to take me 1 or 2 taps/slides more than I would like to do what I want.
WAD2 lets me configure my home screen exactly as I want. I have my most common contacts, playlists, application shortcuts and notifications all in one place.
If you use Davideuck's ROM he also includes wkTask which works great for me alongside WAD2. I use WAD2 desktop mainly for notifications, agenda display, contact shortcuts and a few useful but less frequent application shortcuts. I use the downward swipe feature of wkTask to call up a launcher with my 12 most common shortcuts (which can be called up from anywhere). I'm sure you can install wkTask separately but I would recommend Davideuck's ROM as it's very stable and seems to fly along with great battery life.
Cheers,
David
Thanks for the answers guys, think I'll go with WAD 2.

Is there a way to keep theTouch Flo interface and just make WAD2 like a softkey shortcut on the homescreen of TouchFlo? It would be cool if I could switch interfaces on the fly like that

Do a search for "Second Today". I've heard that this program will allow something like this to be done... not quite sure how it work as I haven't tried it myself yet.

Iphone Theme

I just checked out this website...
http://www.iphonethemeforppc.com/theme.php
This theme looks pretty good to replicate the iphone.
Has anyone had any experience using this, also can anyone recommend anything better?

You can get from here
http://www.freewareppc.com/utilities/ifonz.shtml
try Mallman's stuff at www.swampthing.net
I have used it and works pretty well.
it also runs on WAD2
Excellent thanks for the links guys, very helpful.
Whats the big difference in the ifonz and swampthings software?
I mean there is one sitting there for free, or there is one where I would have to spend $15 on the WAD, then $2.50 on the program?

Thanks or the advertising lol. As for the freeware ifonz theme, you can certainly use this but you will need to mod it just a little. There are qvga and vga versions, not Wvga. If youa re looking for the most inexpensive way to get an iphone theme this is the way to go.... you will just have to resize the icons and such. Should work fine though.
Not sure what engine this uses because all of mine use WAD2. Looks interesting though. I would say try ifonz first and if it meets yoru needs you haven't spent a dime I am going to try it as well and see what i can do with it
ok i have downloaded the vga version and installed it. See screenshot. The only real complaint I have is that it runs pretty bad. Not unusable but the motions are not fluid. I think I see the files that make it work and it seems you could probably modify these files yourself to get better quality icons. The real benefit to using this is you save the $15 on WAD2. Of course anyone who uses WAD2 would probably admit it is the best thing since sliced bread if you want to customize your interface.
However, this is free and it pretty neat. I say give it a try before you do anything else. If it completely suites your needs then you are all set guys. For the record, i think it has a lot of potential. I will be toying with it a little in the future.
As the author of WAD2, i wouldn't recommend the theme above. There is a reallly good, high-quality iPhone theme for WAD2 by a user called "Torx" in our forums. It's not VGA (at least, not the last time I checked), but it is free and a better quality than the one linked to at the top of this thread.

agreed for the quality reasoning. I would recommend buying WAD2 for tha treason. I was only suggesting the above for the free factor. But, you get what you pay for.
Not greatly impressed with ifonz, so when i get some cash, will be buying WAD2 and the swampthing theme.
purchased!
Im very very impressed, good theme.
Just wondering how to link my own applications to each of the iphones on screen buttons?
For instance calculator, weather etc...?
does it run better with TF3d disabled?

yes it runs free and clear of TF3d, it is a total replacement for TF3D. You can change any of the links the buttons link too by tap/hold any spot on the screen that is empty. Select author mode. Now tap/hold the button you want to change and select properties. Select script. Edit the script. Enjoy You can also find this detail in the swampthing FAQ at:

Somewhere here on xda is a thread for a theme generator that is linked to this site: http://ppcthemeonweb.benthon.com/ThemeOnWebEn.htm
At that site, you can generate themes to your heart's content. You just have to get some Christmas images of your choice and save the Jpegs on your computer to be used by the online theme generator.
yes
Thanks man, really!!
Will try it out as soon as I can

You just need to know your screen resolution when you select the initial theme. Prior to this, you need appropriate pix stored in a directory. Then you will set up the landscape and portrait lay outs. If I remember correctly, once you tell the website you want to create the theme, it will provide a link for the download of the theme it creates using your info.
The developer did a nice job and does not add watermarks or other info indicating his site was used to create your theme.
I did one or two themes just after I discovered the thread here and have the exterior website as a Favorite.
If you're going to publish your theme, I'd recommend going to http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Main_Page unless you're good at creating home made pix. Wiki Commons has pictures that are in the Public Domain that can be used without violating a copyright. Typically if you use a picture in the Common Domain, you might want to attribute where you found it and release using the same Public Domain license.
Using the Search box off to the left side of the screen will call up pictures.
Good luck!
I've tried it guick but it looks like it's not for blackstone? no WVGA res?
and in the preview with my pics, it looks like it's for devices without touch? I know it has nothing to do with touch or no touch, I just wants you to know wich phones I mean. Like blueberry devices.

It creates a very basic theme one probably more suited for non-touch/non-TouchFlo PDA or smartphone. It's capable of creating every smartphone's theme - you just need to know your phone's resolution. I don't have a Blackstone or knwo what WVGA is. I have built two basic QVGA themes for my Jade Clone because I looked up my resolution and worked with the online theme generator to build themes.
You have to become your own master if you want to have Christmas themes.
HTC Touch HD resolution is 480x800..
There were no such resolution to choose.
Tried HDWall but can't get it to work, will try even more
Thanks for your help man

[APP][RELEASE] Metro Calculator - a simple WP7 style calculator

Hi,
in the meantime while working on my new UI (it's getting harder and harder...) I've made a simple Windows Phone 7 style calculator. It's a kind of preview of how I'd like my new interface to look like.
I hope you like it
Currently only for VGA (although it should work fine on WVGA). The cab includes the new Segoe WP font.
Code:
[B]Changelog[/B]
[I]0.9.0 - 25.06.2010:[/I]
- first release (VGA)
[I]01.07.2010:[/I]
- all resolutions supported
Is it possible to skin the HTC calc to Metro so you get all of the landscape and mathmatic benefits with the same UI?
Sure, why not.
hey, that looks really nice! Cant wait to get that on my xperia x1, with spb mobile shell Windows phone 7 stlye, would perfectly fit!
Very nice App! Looks good!
Can't wait to test it
Sorry for the delay, but I did not realise how advanced can a simple calculator be I've implemented all the functions of a standard calculator and it took me some time to get it all right. I hope to release it today evening, so stay tuned.
Released!
Any bug reports or suggestions are welcome.
Thanks a lot.
Will write about this
I'd like to test it but unfortunately there's no qvga-version.
Do you plan to make one?
That would be very nice!
orb3000, great, thanks!
jonas9398, right now I'm working on my own interface but maybe if I get some spare time I'll do the other resolutions.
Hey, this looks like a great little app!
I tested on WVGA, it doesn't fill the screen so that's that tested and also the buttons are standard WM buttons, see screenshot attached.
This is using EnergyROM which has edited WM buttons so I'm not sure if that affects it or not.
Well, making the WVGA version means only changing the layout so the buttons fill all the screen I'll try to find some time during the next few days to do that.
I did not realise that the WM buttons can be changed... Nevertheless it look quite good with those rounded buttons

Woo!!! Always glad when something's simple lol.
Yeah it does look pretty good with these, it's the only ROM I've seen with buttons that aren't the flat "grey" ones, maybe ask NRGZ how he did it?
Thanks again for this!

Just one suggestion, could you maybe add haptic feedback? It feels weird to not have it. It's not big problem, just would be nice
Dzięki -fajny kalkulatorek !!!
Gr8 man !!!!
lovely dude i like it keep up the good work
Looks terrific and it matches the SPB Mobile Shell WP7S theme beautifully but the calculator doesn't seem to be able to recognize the comma as a decimal place. I'd like to use this as my shopping calculator but without being able to enter decimal places I cant use it for that. Great app, though, hope this bug can be sorted out.
Thanks for the report, but could you give me an example? I didn't notice any bug so it would be good to reproduce it so I could see what's wrong
No Blue
I got the calculator on my HTC Imagio, but the button background is white, not blue. I even double checked the settings. Any help or info would be appreciated!

Ask Cookies Home tab on htc hd mini (HVGA)

first, sorry about my english, I use google to translate.
Are cookies Home tab can use the tabs at the htc hd mini?
or if not, whether a similar program that can be used for htc hd mini? any suggest
It seems there's still no version of cookie for HD mini.
I wonder if anyone will make a version for HD mini soon.
cookies home tab really a powerful tweak for Sense 2.5..
hope there's a version for HVGA support.
Yeah
I wish some dev can do it for mini users, i saw rare content for HD mini, seems no one uses it?
HD mini's homescreen is beautiful. Unfortunately, quite useless. Everything is fixed. No modification possible. Except for the background wallpaper.
We'll have to wait for someone to port cookie to HVGA version.
In line with problem, i'm tempted to try SPB Mobile Shell. As replacement to Sense UI. Have anyone tried this on HD mini? If i install SPB Mobile Shell, and then later on wanted to remove it and return to Sense UI, can i uninstall it without leaving any residue or bug to Sense?

I tried SPB and it looks great. Uninstallation went without any problems at all. It is easy to change shells so there is no need to uninstall it. U might want to change back to SPB again

I Already use SPBMobileshell almost two year for my hermes
I read somewhere, for first version of spb 3.5 not support for Hd Mini, but now spb already fix that problem, run as well
Yup,
Like others, still wait for someone to enable cookieHT for HVGA version
i share the sentiments with many others here, cookie's mods are fantastic.
i now use spb mobile shell, v 3.5.5 and it works faster than sense.
the only things i have to forego is the HTC contacts app, where you have tabs with facebook, amongst other useful info, which only works with sense methinks. and try as i may, i can't seem for the htc contact app to run without sense.
Thankfully, group sms still work.
Waiting for resco contacts manager to resolve the integration to fb.
or if cookie hears our plea.... whichever comes first
for next CHT it would be easier to port it to HVGA.So no more need to edit the cores, but there must be a quite good knowledge of manila-files for graphics (and a HVGA-Device)
Is there nobody of you Mini-Guys (sorry 4 joking ) who could do this then? just PM plz, if somebody takes this challenge, if some things are easier then.
Is ready to help than I am able! I have difficulties with decompil/compil! And as to calculation of coordinates for position charts, it is ready!

it says right in description...no HVGA support
but...if someone knows how to port it...PLEASE DO,CHT is open source as develeper stated
Default CHT 2.0 doesn't support HVGA. A port is underway by me, though. I guess it's at 80% for the first release, but I can't give any ETA.
