Anyone have a Nandroid backup from an orange branded phone? Need these as part of the process for returning phone to shipped state.
Dummy here didnt do such a backup prior to rooting/downgrading and installing custom roms.
Cheers
You can only do nandroids when you have root so for warranty purposes they have no use, you will remain rooted. You need to run a RUU to get back to stock. Not any RUU will work, you have to find the right one for your device. Did you wright down the software information before rooting?
Close but no cigar ...
Because if one shells (via adb) and removes the apk and busybox, then apply OTA Orange updates .. the phone is restored to Vanilla Orange.
I first, however, require the nandroid backup with which to initiate the process.
Anyone got a nandroid backup please?
Does anyone has an update to this topic?
I'm stuck in the same situation. I have an Froyo OTA Update for Orange branded desire. The only thing whats missing is the nandroid backup of an eclair rom in version 1.19.72.3.
can anyboy help here?

Hi,
the link below will take you to an Orange NAND with the following properties:
Baseband 32.48.00.32U_5.10.05.30
HBOOT 0.93
Build 2.17.61.2
please bear in mind, this is hosted from my NAS so the download will be slow if you use it.
Let me know how you get on.

Mike
Sorry, should've added. its for an SLCD on Froyo.
Mike
Nice1 Mike.
Could you poss get some uptime for your NAS around 7pm tonight? I'll be travelling home to blackpool from london. Should be in at 7 and will d/l and report back.
If all goes well, I will create - using my wintel & visual studio skills - an RUU from the nand and hand back the RUU to you for onward comms - and storage on your NAS of course
Darren
ok, i'll stick my NAS on now.
ip address has changed so new link - http://91.110.71.19/nand/
let me know how you get on...
Can access your NAS Mike. .
Will d/l about 7pm tonight. Cant do this at work right now.
no problem, reply to this post to let me know if its working or not later on. i'll keep an eye on it
@daz - any joy?

Hey Mike,
Soz. Been out of country for xmas.
Turn on your NAS mate and let me know by posting here.
I will d/l using my HTC and report back.
Subsequent to that I hope to complete my app that converts NAND to an update.zip and also create the RUU.EXE file.
Daz
Ill get it done tomorrow and post on here.
I think I need to restore it and strip out all my personal stuff and any 'extras' and take another nand.
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
Daz,
right, my NAS is on and you can download an Orange nand from it - "OrangeCLEAN-2011-01-04.00.26.06".
This should be the standard Orange rom with nothing else added apart from root..
you can get it from http://91.110.72.166/nand/
Let me know how you get on...
Nope.
Just tried now - cannot access your NAS.
Erm, just thought, this NAND backup cannot be an original Orange ROM backup because, access to NAND backup can only be achieved after rooting the phone and installing an alternative loader.
Therefore, the filesystem data/partitions must surely be modified and thus not stock Orange filesystem/partitions. Its logical?
yes, you are correct. it is original bar root/clockworkmod.
I've uploaded my Orange NAND (Build 2.17.61.2) & the most recent OTA update to my dropbox.
Links below...
NAND - http://db.tt/BdOfBLM
OTA - http://db.tt/ad9CHqa

nice1. I have them now.
working on an RUU...
The OTA is corrupted.
Inside, the firmware ZIP is no good.
I'll see if there is another OTA.
Is your NAND from a 2.1 or 2.2 Android OS?
EDIT: Just seen your earlier post about it being SLCD from Froyo - so thats 2.2
Cheers.

Hi guys, got my Orange-branded uk desire a couple of days ago and have been reading up on rooting etc ever since.
In homage to my username, i'm following this to remove the carrier software:
(rootmydroid.cx.ux/) guides/general/howto-root-your-htc-desire-wildfire-evo-incredible-with-unrevoked/
I'm at step 3. My question is where can i find the most up-to-date official htc rom to flash onto my desire? I know a google search will give me loads of choices, but a lot are now months old and I'm keen not to flash an old version - im running 2.2 at the moment, but i basically just want an unbranded phone without the hassle of making a goldcard.
Is there one single file out there that i need? or will it consist of seperate rom and a radio files? Will the rom come as a .zip or .exe?
I know its a basic question, and once i've got the answer i'll leave you alone and follow the guide myself....just didnt want to flash with unrevoked, and not have a rom to reflash!
if it helps, these are my details:
bravo pvt4 ship s-on
hboot 0.93.0001
micro 051d
touch panel synt0101
radio 5.10.5.30
Thanks in advance!
Hi,
You will need a Goldcard if you're moving off an Orange rom even if you're going to stock HTC.
This is the first thing to do before going any further.
As for an upto date stock unbranded rom, see http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
You will need to run this RUU on your PC while your phone is connected in fastboot mode.
Please be aware tho, that there isn't an Orange RUU available at the moment so going back to an Orange stock rom could be an issue.
Oh, and do a nand backup as soon as you have rooted.
Mike

Ah right, ok
I was under the impression that loading a rom via unevoked would effectively overwrite the rom i have now, meaning the carrier's applications would be removed in the process?
I guess a complete debrand isn't what I'm after - I don't mind if i still have the Orange logo on start-up (I don't want to unlock it from the Orange network either), as long as there are none of their applications like Orange Maps and Orange Photos when I'm actually using the phone.
Would i still need a goldcard for that? Or would i be able to follow the guide in the link in my first post, flashing the rom you suggested at stage 3?
Thanks in advance!
If you're going to go to a stock, unrooted, unbranded ROM then you won't be able to restore a nandroid backup as you need root!!
First thing, as said, is to make a gold card. Then use it to flash the 2.29.405.2 RUU. Then see how you get on as it is. If you still don't think it's doing what you need it to then root and go for a custom ROM
Right, ive created a goldcard using a guide on the unlockr.com
The website provides links to desire rooting tools 0.75 or 0.80 bootloaders, however mine is 0.93.0001. Can anyone offer any guidance please?
Thanks in advance!
http://unrevoked.com/recovery/
can i use that with a goldcard to just debrand then? thought that was only for rooting?

The stock rom (or pretty near to stock) you posted a while back eddy was good enough for his needs do you think?
I think Frankdroid did a variation in your thread of it with root and a2sd+. I was using it for a while and battery was good and the rom smooth enough.

Right...
If you just wanna debrand, as is get rid of the Orange crap, and not be rooted then all you need is a gold card and the RUU from my signature. This will give you a stock, unbranded HTC ROM
If you wanna root and go for a custom ROM, use unrEVOked
yea, i just wanna get rid of the Orange crap. I've made my goldcard, following a guide on theunlockr .com, but have come unstuck when it lists some downloads for certain bootloaders that would allow me to run the RUU, however my bootloader is a lot newer so i wasnt sure where i go from here, now that i've made my goldcard
I've downloaded the RUU, but when i run the .exe, is says its not a valid win32 application....?
Basically i've got a goldcard and the ruu. How do i now get it loaded on my phone?
Which RUU did you download? Latest unbranded one is the one in my signature. Ignore guides online as they've not been updated for months
ive got the ruu from your sig. Goldcard was made following an old guide on the web. Will this be ok?
just not sure where to go next in terms of actually getting the ruu on my phone with the goldcard
Gold card guide is fine. That RUU is also fine as it's my upload and is the one I use myself (using Windows 7 Ultimate x64). Don't know why your version of Windows won't run it - unless it's a corrupt download
yeah, weird. Using Win xp. I'll redownload the ruu in your sig. Once i've got it, what do i do? Turn on phone with power/vol down? Then what do i need to select? I'm guessing once im in the right section, i just connect phone to pc, and just run the ruu .exe?
Sorry, loads of basic q's, appreciate your help!
Turn phone on holding the back button and you'll be in FASTBOOT. Connect to the PC and once your Desire says FASTBOOT USB run the RUU
An error (-5001 : 0x80070002) has occured while running the setup.
Please make sure you have finished any previous setup and closed other applications. If the error still occures, please contact your vendor
Bugger! Any ideas?
It worked! Thanks a lot for your help EddyOS
np
Remember, though...you'll need your gold card for ALL future OTA updates if you're staying stock. You may as well make your day to day card your gold card to cut out the faffing about!

Hey i am getting the same error...how did you resolve it.
Appreciate your help
Ive had a look around and theres loads of posts on it, but nothing which really explains what to do for this specific update
Firstly, where can i download the OTA from? i cant see a link anywhere on this forum, i must be looking in the wrong place
Im on a rooted rom and have read on here about all the problems you get when installing the OTA on a rooted rom so was hoping someone could tell me what i need to do to get it. Ive read that unrevoked will remove root afterwards, but as im already rooted, does this mean i need to flash/format my device to a stock rom first (i sure hope not )
The only reason i want this update is for the 90% battery fix which is the only thing which really annoys me about this phone atm
Thanks to anyone that can help
1. Get the 2.29.405.2 RUU
2. Flash
3. Re-root
This is THE best way of getting the update if you're that bothered about it. And you're not looking hard enough for the OTA file:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=9640589&postcount=70
As always, thanks EddyOS
Hi Eddy!
How i have to run your sig. Ruu?
1. download ruu
2. pc connect with usb cable to phone (htc sync)
3 run the Ruu
The phone is just on and normal?
thank's
If you're going to connect to the PC you need HTC Sync installed on your computer. If you don't want to install that on your PC then just connect the phone in FASTBOOT
Then just run the RUU
thank's Eddy!
Hi Eddy
Im trying to flash this now, but when i do it from the recovery console, it says:
E: No Signature (325 Files)
E: Verification failed
so i cant install the OTA
I cant install it via unrevoked as its not packaged as an image file
Can you tell me where im going wrong
Thanks
what exactly are you trying to flash?
can you give the link?
Its the link which EddyOS put in post #2 above:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...9&postcount=70
right, thats just the OTA update.
i'm assuming you're still rooted? if so, you dont want to run that.
You need to flash the RUU first as Eddy mentioned.
What rom are you currently on? and is it different to the original rom for the phone?
yeah im still rooted. My network is orange, but the last thing i 'installed' was 2.10.405.2-initd-rooted-stock-v2.zip
Are you able to link me to the RUU or whichever file i need? would be much appreciated
ok, you must have created a goldcard then?
the 2.29.405.2 RUU can be found here - http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.exe
once you've confirmed you've got a goldcard, run the RUU while you're phone is in Fastboot.
make sure you backup anything that you need as this will wip your phone and unroot.
and do a nand backup just in case...
ah excellent. thanks very much. yeah i do have a goldcard
one last question(s) though...whats a nand backup? and how do i do one?
also, can i reroot after using unrevoked?
you can do a nand backup through the recovery panels (power & vol down) or through ROM manager if you have it installed.
this should give you a backup to go back to if running the RUU gives problems.
and yes, you can root with unrevoked after you've run the RUU.
excellent. thank you sooo much for all the help
no problem, let us know how you get on....
everything seems to have gone ok just restoring all my apps now using mybackup, but the new rom is all loaded up and running fine. will let you know over the next few days if any issues arise
Good news!!!
Keep the RUU safe incase you need it in the future
lame...seems i was a bit to quick to say everything went well
so before i ran the ruu, i backed up all my apps (apks + data) using mybackup pro
however, now it doesnt restore any of the apps i saved to my SD card. When i go into the apps manager after restoring the backup, it shows no apps installed there. and when viewing all apps, it only shows the ones installed on my internal memory
Any idea why this is happening? I do have root and have restored the backup with superuser permissions
not too sure as i use Titanium.
have you tried restoring 1 by 1? you may have 1 corrupt backup thats preventing the rest from being restored - i'm sure i've read about something similar.
also, if you haven't customized your phone too much since the RUU/root, you could boot into recovery and run a full wipe again and reboot. it may help...
EDIT - you've not still got your phone connected to your PC by chance have you?
if its mounted as a drive you wont have access to your SDcard.....
hay, just got my desire back from repair from htc and it came back running the orange 2.2 rom so i rooted it using unrevoked method and now have a rooted orange 2.2 rom which i backup using clockwork. I was wondering if anyone wants this backup so they can extract the orange rom because i know people are always looking for it. Their is 1 thing though, after i backed up my phone went into boot loop. so if you want it let me know and ill upload it or send it to you.
Yes please.
Yes please i need it too, who know when our phone get bricked, Orange rom for back up..
would be greatly appreciated!
Ok guys uploading it to megaupload then will post the links.
just tried it and their was no boot loop so all you have to do is install it then remove root
Id be interested to hear how you intend to remove root & clockworkmod to get it back to factory stock?

Was having probs with megaupload and uploaded it to my dropbox but seams you have beat me to it.
Dont know how to remove them or exctract the rom or anything like that thats why i left it up to the developers to try.
I think getting rid of the superuser app is easy enough.
The problem is the recovery.
I've read elsewhere that an unrooted phone is required which can have a temp root applied to it. Then the recovery and other things can be extracted.

Thought I had read something like that aswell. Their must be some way of taking it off. Maybe I should try and research it some more and see what I can find

Hi Everyone
I've just received my Desire back from HTC repair. They've put the original Orange RUU back on my phone, so before I root and start flashing roms again, I'm wondering if there's a way I can extract the Orange rom so people here can use it if they have to return their phone under warranty?
I'm a complete beginner at this stuff though, so if someone wants to help out you'll have to talk me through it step by step!
Someone posted a nandroid backup of the Orange rom. It's an old version but still. I don't see the point though because the WWE RUU from HTC is more up to date anyway. You can post your nandroid backup though.
I know the WWE is more up to date, I'm just thinking an actual Orange RUU would be useful for people who need to return their phone to "out of the box" state if they need to unroot and return their phone.
About 2 weeks ago I needed an Orange UK ruu but had to take my chances with the stock WWE rom, luckily I got away with it but if there's a way we can somehow extract one then that'd be helpful for anyone in the same position.

^ Exactly!
Hold out hope, give it a couple of days and maybe someone else will know what to do.
In the mean time, root your phone and S-OFF (I think you need to S-OFF to create a NAND backup) when you root, flash the RA-recovery 2.0.1 as that can do NAND backups whereas the CWM that comes with unrevoked doesn't.
I would love a Orange UK RUU. I can't find any on the internet so definitely try and get it

Just a quick question before I do that, I thought that if I root then all I'd be able to create is a backup of a rooted rom? Which wouldn't be any good for returning to "out of box state"? Remember, I'm 100% Noob so I may be wrong!
Also, what gets backed up when I do a nand? Shall I perform a factory reset first and then do it? Don't want any of my apps, email, ebay or google account backed up and passed on to everyone who uses my backup! I'm willing to give back to the community but I ain't that generous!

I'm entirely unsure. I think there's a way to unroot afterwards for anyone who uses your backup, and I think, yes, it'd be best to do a factory reset before the NAND (can use titanium for your own backup, though, so you can reinstall after the NAND and be back where you were)
Okay...
I used unrevoked to root. Performed a factory reset. Made up a fake google account so I could download rom manager, installed clockwork mod and created a Nand backup from there.
It's 448 MB in size, is that normal? Seems pretty large! In the backup folder there's something called sd-ext.img that is 130mb and another called data.img at 21mb, will that have saved information about my device or apps? Can I delete them or will that cause problems for anyone using my Nand to restore?
All I'm basically asking is, is my personal info, contacts, photos, sms, emails etc safely clear?
If all is good to go does anyone know a good place to upload and host for others to easily download it from? And do I need to upload the whole folder or is there just one specific img that people need?
Edit: Do I need to upload the whole folder or is there just one specific img file that people need?
You're not going to believe this... It's started boot-looping again!
I performed the Nandroid backup, rebooted, it stuck on the HTC logo, I removed the battery to get the SD card out so I could extract the Nand backup, put the battery back in and now can't get any further than HTC logo before it restarts and gets stuck on HTC logo over and over again!
What have I done wrong now? I'm not having much luck with this!
Edit: Had a quick read and found this was quite common when combining unrevoked and rom manager for backups. I restored from the backup I just made and all is working again now, I hope!
ahhh you could've gone 1 step further and posted an unrooted ROM!
you should've S-OFF'd with AlpharevX without setting up the entire phone etc. then made a nand backup of the unrooted ROM. Ahh well lol, I'm on Vodafone anway

Damn! If only you'd told me that a few hours earlier!
Well, it's too late now, I've already rooted. Is there a way to unroot and then create another backup?
Can anyone tell me which of the files in the backup I need to upload please? Do I need to upload all of them or can I delete sd-ext.img and data.img?
Or if there's a way to unroot and create a backup of an unrooted rom then let me know how to do it please!
Does anyone know what RUU to apply to a Hutchinson 3G Ireland branded HOX? I'm assuming it's an ireland specific RUU rather than the UK release for the same service provider, but I can't source it & my firmware's borked. Heavy graphics processing, video playing & some settings sliders all cause a crash-reboot. Don't want to have to wait for S-OFF to get my phone fully working again!
For reference, it's htc boot-unlocked & rooted, and I think the problem came from trying to apply an ota (which failed to fully flash) after flashing an unbranded stock rom on it. I'm such a dumbass.
If the RUU isn't available then restoring the backup you made before rooting is the only way to get back
Thanks, I'd actually managed to forget about the full pre-root backup I did. I'll crack that out tonight & comment here on how I got along.
Quick follow-up question: I take it an adb backup would include the firmware in the system data?
Just flash the CWM backup you made and that'll be enough. Then flash the stock recovery and relock the bootloader
I just hope that I remembered to take the CWM backup off my phone! Comedy of fecking errors.
Phew! Had my original CWM backup, restored fine, sucessful OTA update applied. Didn't need to re-bootlock though, which is a relief. Re-root tonight & wait till S-OFF is achieved before I go looking at other ROMs. Thanks for the help!
Glad it worked. What I'd do at this point is wipe the phone and take a fresh backup in case your current versions RUU never surfaces. Then re-root and restore your apps from Titanium Backup (if you used that)
EDIT: Quick question - what software version are you on now?
