I've had Froyo on my Epic since its been out and so far I've liked the ACS build the most. Now I can't figure out how to get the sd card to mount to the computer without using some sort of app (if it wants to work). Am i missing something when it comes to mounting the sd card or is it normal? Any help would be appreciated.
First, make sure you turn debugging on, then pull down the notification bar to enable mounting... thats what I had to do to get mine to work. (Debugging = Menu Key->Settings->Applications->Development->USB Debugging)
If that still doesnt work, you may have to create a shortcut to get into the USB Settings through the Activities button that is added in your Shortcuts when you install LauncherPro (can use any Launcher, just need it installed)... Long press on your screen like your going to add a widget, select 'Shortcuts->Activities->Settings->USB Settings', then use that shortcut to choose between Charging, Mass Storage, and Ask on connection.

Wow... I'm mad at myself since it was only the debugging that needed to be enabled. Thank you very much

I recently upgraded to a GB ROM. Now I can't figure out how to access the disk drive option. Need help. And yes I'm a noob.
If you connect to a pc, it should show up in your notification tool bar.
I am connected and the notification bar gives me the following option. Select to diable USB debugging....however I can't seem to get from here to disk drive option.
Try rebooting your phone, and if not, reflash the rom, and you should be all set.
There's an app in the market called "auto mount SD" or something similar. When you open the app you can choose to automatically mount as disk drive when connected to your computer. This was the only way I could get mine to mount at one time.
Widgetsoid 2.x also has a toggle for "mount usb". Occasionally I still don't get the option & hitting the toggle does the trick for me.
Thanks for the help. I ended up reflashing and that fixed the problem, however now I'm having problems with the phone hesitating to wake up.
If you've recently re-flashed, it make take a few times, as it still settling in. If you flashed a kernel to it, the kernel could be the cause.

Ah, the app you're talking about it dual mount sd. It also comes in handy cuz if you're listening to music, or have a lot of apps on your sdcard, they won't get disabled if you use it.
I did flash a kernel as well. Will that settle in or do I need to find a new kernel?

Well a kernel takes about 2~3 days to settle in, so you can make your final call then, but its its an sbc kernel, one of the side effects is that it can make your phoen laggy, cuz as the slight delay upon waking. Changing the kernel can fix that.
Thanks for the info...I'll give it another day or so. I'm not to keen on the lag on wake=-up so I'll be shopping for a new kernel if it keeps up.
No problem, and on CM7, I have no issues with the non-sbc version of the Tiamat kernel.
Happens when I try to download files to my Defy's SDcard, such as update.zips for various roms. Via MotoPortal's stock remote file manager.
What bugs me is that I cannon see any system in it, like, one moment a big file DLs just fine, another moment its "too big", then at some point it goes fine again, and again too big... All on pretty much the same Nordic .177 ROM.
Any idea what's happening and how to fix that?
100% not SDcard problem itself: just removed it from a phone, put into card reader and wrote on all the files I wanted.
They then were read on Defy without problems.
The moto portal is very fishy in my case. Everytime I saw a few different folders, and sometimes I saw none at all. I no longer use it now. For transfer of big files I set usb connection to mass storage. For small files I just transfer via wifi.
Speaking of "usb mass storage" mode, I only found the setting to do so deep in the MediaShare app. Is it also acessible somewhere else?

When connected with usb, tap the notification bar, tap usb connection, tap mass storage. Some switch widgets can switch on/off usb mass storage with a single tap.
I was ever confused on how to enable this process. After a bit of try, I finally found this.
To enable USB Mass Storage on CM10.1, do the following steps.
In case you haven't enabled Developer Option menu in Setting, do below:
1. Go to Setting --> About Phone. Once opened, scroll down to the end and tap Build Number 7 times. Once you're done, go back and you should see "Developer Option" and "Performance" in Setting menu.
2. Enable Android Debugging.
3. Plug in your USB cable between your phone and computer.
4. Then, you will see notification on the Status bar. Pull it down and tap "Connected as a media device"
5. Select "Mass Storage" and you will see "Connected as installer" (This wouldn't end up here).
6. Pull down the drawer and you should see "USB Connected". Tap it and your mass storage will be switched.

Hello.
Where can I find the function of changes in the mass memory?
In this rom? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1979829
Could someone write back, because I can not find this function ...
Uhm...what?
I want to transfer files from my computer to the phone, but first I have to switch the storage, and I can not find this feature.

Uhm...turn it on from the drop-down menu?
If that's not possible, then Settings - Storage, click the Menu button, choose MSC.
Stock always popped up a message when I connected it to the USB on my computer, and I'd like to be able to move files onto/off of it with CM 7.2..
Is there a configuration setting somewhere I am missing?
Settings -> storage and select mass storage iirc on gingerbread. But cm should show a notification prompting you to enable mass storage.
Ok, notification prompt.. I never paid much attention to those little things you get to by dragging down the top, found it, thanks..
