Hey Guys,
I can't really find much about this on-line, i had a SLCD HTC Desire but i broke the Screen and Digitizer so i bought them both but all i could find on ebay was amoled screens so i bought one thinking it should work, but ive connected it all up and im getting faint lines across the screen, is it a faulty screen or do i need a slcd display?
should fitting a porche badge to my car make it go faster ??
I think your have to sort out the hardwear first ... which would be a new mobo ... + a new screen .... mmmmm bar the case you have a new phone !! lol

I have recently bought a HTC mozart. I recently broke the glass of the touch screen. The touch screen still works and everythings alright except for the glass. Ive seen replacement screens on ebay. Does anyone know how to change the touch screen on the mozart? thx
That is not good news, I cracked the screen on my HD2 and I had to send it away to get replaced. With the HD2 it is a tough job as the lcd and the glass are attached and it is difficult to change glass only. I replaced glass and lcd.
Unfortunately I was not much help, but I feel your pain.
Good luck..
Well i have a LCD which is broken by fallen and which bought by ebay but i do't know how to replace it
Can't find anything on this

really wanna fix my shattered screen
Hello everyone,
I know there's a lot of threads about broken screens out there but I could not find a precise answer to my question.
This is what happened. My HTC Desire (with AMOLED) fell on the ground. When I picked it up I noticed a crack. It seemed like it was not on the touchscreen but underneath it. Also, in the first hours the display worked well like always despite the crack. Then, the next morning, I woke up to a surprise. The screen was now loosing it's colors and everything was in a kind of violet range. The next day, the screen was completely black (but I could feel that the touchscreen was still working because of the small vibration during unlocking).
Of course, the "official" screen replacement is too expensive for me and I think I can do it myself. The problem is that I can not find a site that's selling AMOLED screens for HTC Desire, only LCD. So there's my question : is it possible to replace an AMOLED screen with a LCD screen (on the HTC Desire)? Or maybe someone knows a site that's selling AMOLED screens for HTC Desire?
Thank you in advance.
Switching screen for screen won't work. At least you would need to replace the digitizer too, and I'm not sure will it work with your motherboard. Total cost of screen + digitizer would be around $110.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
I know people mentioned different digitizer for different screens. I'm not sure that's true but a different motherboard would be required.

hi guys. i broke my hox screen. only the touch panel broken but, yellow tint occured on screen, so i have to change whole screen. do you know a trusted seller for hox screen on ebay etc. ? thanx a lot.
Hi, I'm wanting to replace my HOXs screen.
There are yellow spots on the screen, does this mean I need to replace the lcd panel as well or if I just replace the glass/digitizer will this fix the yellow spots?
Also, I managed to fix a galaxy ace screen (glass/digitizer) by separating the digitizer from the lcd panel and the lcd panel is fine. I know it has been said it's not really possible to separate the two with the HOX but if I have managed to do it for the ace, do you think it's possible for the HOX??
Any thoughts would be appreciated
You don't really need to replace the screen if you have orange spots ,just put the screen on full brightness over night and your problems will be solved , if you want to replace the screen ,replace the whole thing as you said I have seen only one video out of 60 that the guy was successful in ceperating digitiser from LCD ,good luck
They will disapear after some time. I had the spots too.
Thanks for the replies.
Sorry I forgot to mention that the screen is cracked too. But my main concern was separating the lcd from the digitizer. I did do it for the ace and it was pretty easy buy if you think I would be better off to replace the panel and digitizer, then I'll do that.

The things is, the ace and the hox are very different devices. Just because you've managed to seperate digitizer and screen on the ace doesn't mean you could do that on the hox too. Just compare the space between LCD and digitizer of both devices and you'll see what I mean.

You wont manage to seperate the screen from the digitizer trust me, i tryed it and the glue is too strong + the lcd is too fragile.
So while i was replacing the digitizer on this beauty, the lcd flex must have broken inside because it didnt seem like it so i have no display
also the optical button flex broke (Now im really screwed Tiny)
So im looking into ordering a samsung amoled screen from ebay even though my hardware version is the slcd version
Is it compatible or were there just screen changes and not motherboard changes when HTC said they're going to slcd for these devices?

I dont believe they are interchangable. Something to do with a graphics chip or something, ive seen this asked and answered somewhere here on xda before. Mabey someome who knows for sure will chime in.
Well this is unfortunate. And the fact that SLCD screens are more expensive than the amoleds online.
Can someone else confirm that they are not interchangable?

I would think they are but I don't know either way. The best thing for you to do is an xda or Google search into this.

I did some googling but couldnt find much. Found a lot of people asking but no one answering. I saw one thread where a guy said he did it, but when he turned it on he just got a pink screen. He wasnt sure if it was because of the screen type change, or if he just messed something up when putting it back together. Then the thread just died. The connectors on both are the same. I did notice though on some sites selling slcd replacements that there are 2 different types of slcd screen that shipped with the inc, and they make it sound as though they are not interchangable. You could try to contact htc, but who knows what would come of that.
They are not interchangable. AMOLED and SLCD. The way the pixels receive signal is different. AMOLED can turn individual pixels on/off while LCD can only change their color. They need different chips/drivers to work properly.
