ok so I'm starting to pick up how to set the clock speed a little more but I'd like to have some understanding as to how to go about doing it myself.
Are you just editting the /arch/arm/mach-msm/acpuclock-7x30.c then compiling it into a zimage? or actually going into the kernel and editting acpuclock-7x30.c?
I understand that this is my own risk and I'm responsible and blah blah but I'd like to push my G2 a little and see what it can do. At least try and get it to 2ghz.
If anyone would like to tell me what method is best I would much appreciate it, thanks!

My name is Andy. I have had the EVO for about a month, and think it is time to start messing around with it a little more, so being I have never done anything like this, I had a few questions so I fully understand whats going on so I can fix it if I mess something up haha....sorry if they are noob questions haha I'm just trying to learn...
Ok, so I have been doing much research on rooting and rom'ing my eVo. I already have it rooted, with unrevoked3. I read somewhere that unrevoked3 isn't a complete root...is this true? and if so how to I do a complete root so I can use the ROM that is mentioned below...?
Now the NooB question of "What ROM is best?"
***I know it is more a personal opinion, and what features you want bla bla, but what ROM has proven to work the best with the EVO (aka removing programs that aren't needed/battery life/speed/UI runs smooth and also looks good...ect.)?
I was looking on a post about the BakedSnack 1.7 ROM. Does anybody have any input on this ROM...Likes or Dislikes? I Like a lot of the things this ROM sais it has/does, so thats why im trying that one but am I getting the BETA 9.7? And does it have many bugs?
And, in this thread, it talks about all the different Kernals you can get. I was wondering, will the processor in the eVo support the 1.267GHz overclock?
Different opinion
Ok, once again, it is all personal preference, but i like Ava froyo v8. It is extremely fast, a day and a half of battery, and on the modified Rosie, app drawer is where the phone used to be. Once again, preference.
About unrevoked, 3.2.1 gives you full root but doesn't give you engineering boot. Anything earlier than 3.2.1 only gives you half root. You if you only have half root, use unrevoked forever or just use 3.2.1. Ask me if you have any more questions as i would be glad to help you.
Thanks for the input.
Couple things I noticed...
This ROM comes with 3 different types of keyboards, but how do you use them? I've checked them, but cant seem to figure out how to use them in a text or what not. Any help?
There is a box to check to change the notitification bar, but it doesn't seem to change anything around when I reboot. Also when I check or uncheck, it askes me if I would like to reboot and if I click yes, it doesn't actually do anything.
I have noticed that when I check the box that is to "Show compass in Maps", it wont stay selected....??
Any help would be awesome!!
Thanks
Sooo here we go. I'm finally getting desperate after dealing with this issue for sometime now.
Brief story of how I believe this happened:
A while back now I remember when Calkulin was releasing the radio updates and what not, at one time he released a TouchInput update (correct me if I'm wrong) . I remember I downloaded all of em, u know, radio, wimax, NV... so on so fourth... and I flashed the input file. Everything seemed to work great, but then I started having major touch issues. That same day I flashed I read multiple people were having issues with their touchscreen so Calk set out a previous version. I went ahead and flashed the older version and everything went back to normal... well, better than it was when it messed up. So now I'm trying to find someone who has any idea what in the world im talking about, or maybe you've had the same issue.
Still have no idea what I'm talking about? I uploaded a video on YouTube to show what I mean. =/ I should have put more of an example, but you get the idea. And boy does it get irritating especially when playing a game that requires multitouch...

Anyone have any solutions? Ideas? Let me know here, or since I dont check back as often as I use to, send me an @ reply on Twitter @EvoROMBlog
I will honestly give some sort of incentive. Maybe I'll buy you an energy drink or something.
**Really wishing to find a fix for this, knowing XDA, Im sure theres someone who can figure something out.
What kind of rom are you running? Are you rooted still? Our evos are capable of 3 point and 5 point multitouch depending on which hardware you have(touch sensors). If you're on a sense rom why don't you search the dev section for NETARCHYS kernel. I believe on aosp roms it supports 5 if your hardware does but I could be wrong. The kernel will enable either 3 point or 5 point multitouch; by default HTC has it set to 3 I believe with stock kernel. Fortunately mine supports 5 point so it makes emulation very pleasant along with a great multitouch experience .
Edit: Here's the forum link to the kernel where net talks about 3 point and 5 point multitouch. There's a command you can run to see if your touch sensors can do 3 or 5.

Some have it by default some don't. I would try the latest 4.3.4 build that also has the HDMI support. I recommend the havs less version because aggressive havs seems to not play nice all the time.

Well different kernel didn't work.. I kinda figured it wasn't going to. I have a feeling its hardware related, but again I have no clue. If I can find some sort of touch input fix, I'm sure an experienced dev would know something. Thanks for trying to help tho.

Bumping my thread.I really need to figure out why my Multi-Touch is so bugged in Sense ROMs on my phone.
In some of the roms the devs say they applied a 3g tweak. Can someone explain to me what tweak they are referring to?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1265990
There are about half and half chances. Some pleople says that it works and the other half says it doesn't work. Because there's always chance going back after this tweak, you can try. If it does not work, then you put the original values back and reboot.
Works great for me i havent had any problems at all.

Wrong. Flashing a rom can't do that. He's saying the devs have backed the tweak into their rom - you can't alter something that requires the MSL in order to change just be simply flashing a rom. Not trying to be an ass, just being blunt so as to eliminate confusion and farce information.
They are most likely talking about the build.prop tweaks which have been proven over and over to be snake oil. The only other one that it could be is the sys.conf tweak which depending on the reason your speeds are slow, could be helpful - or not.
Well cyanogen 7.2 is out.
I think I'm going to build a lightweight rom go launcher based rom off of it. First try ever I've done a lot of experimenting.
I intend on removing languages, apps that I never have had any remote desire to use (vpn, fmradio, that kind of thing), and create a basic high performance mod.
I'd like to incorporate the tiamat kernel somehow. Also I'd like to force smartassv2, and custom calibration settings.
Does anyone know where the file is saved, for adjusting autobrightness defaults?
I'd would like to zipalign it, and if I can, odex it.
Also I am going to try to run PNGout on all of the PNG files.
Anyone have any suggestions on best tools to do all of these things from a windows or ubuntu based linux perspective? I know how to remove the APKs, and using PNGout seems pretty straight forward.
I'm not opposed to recompiling, if thats the best method to odex.
Also, any suggested performance optimizations?
Build.prop flags?
This is primarily for myself. I want to learn how to rom

That sounds nice and all but this is more of a question which should be in Q&A.
Sometimes the lines between Q&A, and Development blurr... I really wasn't sure which to put it in
I'll make a post there instead.

this is something to look at. jamie did great work to be honest it deserves the 1.0 but i think he has been rather busy working on different projects (and im sure life )
another thing to think about is incorporating mason's aosp kernel it comes with some more gov's for ppl to play with i have used it on multiple gb aosp roms and it kicks tiamat up a notch
another thread is 7.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1475989&page=89 i hate to say that these are abandoned but the way ics is working out it gets hard to come back.
just some things to ponder. been messing around with gb aosp to teach myself things here and there so good luck i wish i had more time to keep it going
If you want to stock it down, just build from source. Then add all the good stuff.
So i've installed P.A rom and Franco's kernel. Ive seen alot of beautiful homescreens and honestly i envy them. A new jellybean user like me isn't familiar on how to customize a hybrid ROM. Im sure that i miss alot of things that only PRO users or should i say experienced user can do a good customization. So in other words, im asking for your help guys. I really want to use all the features correctly or exactly how it works.
About the kernel (Franco's), it is my first time to install a custom kernel on my devices. So i really don't know how it works, i mean ive been experiencing battery issues so i decided to make a move and fix things on my own but unluckily i can't. I heard that this kernel can really save battery if it is use properly and thats the problem. I dont know how to use it
IN SHORT, im willing to learn things about android i know its hard but ill try. Maybe a little kindness and patience from you guys can help.
Maybe a start up guide for NEWBIES will do (
