[UTIL] iAltWeather 0.1

History: i have search for a port of Weather from iPhone to WM. iWeather, founded on this forum supports only one city and only QVGA screens. So i decide to make my own
Features:
- Many cities
- WVGA support (current only this)
- Skins support for alternative screen resolutions (need a bit of graphics and change xml file)
iAltWeather Controlling
Slide finger left - next city
Slide finger right - previous city
Slide finger down - hide iAltWeather
Slide finger up - close iAltWeather
TODO:
- Configuration screen
- Skins for main screen resolutions: VGA, QVGA, WQVGA

- Added switching from last to first cities
- Separate cabs (iAltWeather, iAltWeatherSkin)
City selection only in iAltWeather.xml file in programm dir.
City code can grabbed from weather search weather.yahoo.com
iAltWeather 0.1 cab (program itself)
iAltWeather Skin for WVGA cab (install to the same path as programm)

how do you change it to F instaed of C. I change Celcius=1 to Celcius=0 in the xml file but that didnt seem to do the trick

may this program cause any problem to the standard touchflo meteo app?
or can I use both flawless?

this bug fixed. new version added.
btw install Skin cab too, after installing new version. now program and a lot of graphics in separate cabs.

hmmm, i still have the bug I guess. I cant get anything but Celcius to display. What is the parameter to ger Ferinheit to display? do I set the xml file to 0, 2, 3, 4 ....? So far 0 and 2 havent worked for me

OK i got it. What i did was delete everything out of the cache folder first, swiped finger to close app which didnt work. Next I deleted the xml file and swiped finger to close app that didnt work. Finally i deleted cache, relaced xml and rebooted phone and that did work. I am suspicious that the finger swipe isnt closing the app (i tried both up and down swipes) because even the old cities were there after I repleaced the xml file but they were gone when i rebooted (which definately closed the app)
Nonetheless, its working now and the setting in the xml file is celsius="0" to get Ferinheit

Mallman, can you test Close app stroke, becuase i'm can't repeat that program does not close.
Try run program, slide finger from down to up of the screen. And if window disappear check with some true task manager is there in system runing process iAltWeather.exe
If you don't have a task manager, you can decide program closed or not, using time between tap on link and weather screen appear. If iAltWeather running in background time is much less that if program doing full start.

it didnt show as running in task manager, i just concluded it must not have closed some how because a soft reset fixed the issue.

this program may caus problem with default touchflo3d weather app?
or Can I run both programs without problem?

hi, would it be possible that the program quits just like any other program by pressing the back-key/home-key? now the program remains active and is still fully active when i switch back to my empty home screen.

[APP] TouchFlow Detacher

TouchFlo Detacher is yet another way to simultaneously have TouchFlo 3D and the regular Today screen. Previous excellent solutions include SecondToday and ManilaControl.
Description
So what makes it different? Well, this app is actually very similar to MastSogo's ManilaControl. The main difference is that the author plans to actively develop it for a while, whereas ManilaControl has been a bit frozen in development for a few months. It is also open source, licensed under the Ms-RL. The program is on CodePlex, so download speeds should be much better than the average rapidshare link. Finally, it is in English and not Spanish. Other than that, it's just another solution for the same problem!

Installation
As explained on CodePlex...
1. Install the CAB
2. Run the configuration app
3. Enable all the standard Today Items you want to use
4. Do not re-enable TouchFlo 3D in the Today items (if you do, it will undo all your other Today plugins)

Current features
- Free up your Today screen by hosting Manila outside of the Today screen! TouchFlo Detacher can launch/show/hide/close Manila independent of any other Today screen settings. Now you can have your TouchFlo cake and eat it too! The most obvious use is to assign a soft key to toggle between seeing TouchFlo and seeing the regular Today screen.
- Service runs as a background application (in your StartUp folder) for maximum speed when toggling Manila modes.
- NO ANNOYING SPLASH SCREEN when application launches.
- Service is 100% idle when not receiving messages or controlling TouchFlo, so no CPU is wasted! (Just a tiny bit of RAM)
- Configuration application allows modifying manila.exe location, manila window class, and more, so that this utility can (presumably) be used with other manila versions (such as TouchFlo 2D). This is untested. Out of the box, it supports TouchFlo 3D in its default configuration as seen on the Diamond/Pro/HD.
- Configuration application can clean out the ManilaActivateToday.exe from the notification queue. (That app can interefere with TouchFlo Detacher's operation.)

i have one question, maybe someone of you have the same problem.
i am running the "non TF3D" screen with Resco today plugin and launcher.....if i try to put a background (via setting Today, use picture as background...) no matter which kind of picture i choose, they are opaque.
cant figure out a solution.

that app is very great. but i got ine problem that the home icon button dont's work, it just has the force feedback.

i can tell that this is the best suggestion i have never got in this forum.
you have got the point at the first shot!!!!!! and i have my second today with a brilliant background.
of course thanks to chaosdefinesorder that playing with the device have found out the problem.

I have tried WAD2 and Spb Mobile Shell and I like many of the things that those things bring that TF3D doesn't. I like them both, but I have not been able to break away from the TF3D which is one of the major factors I purchased the phone. Now I can have my cake and eat it too. We'll give it a shot! Thanks.
Update - I loaded it and it seems to work great. I loaded back my Spb Mobile Shell and seems to be working nicely between. It did take a few tweaks, but it is running fine. One thing however is that when I am back in TF3D my hard home key doesn't work to bring me back to the TF3D home. Any ideas?

Thanks for the program cardefbel but I am having a problem with it....notice that if I'm using the SPB screen it won't go back to TF3D after 15mins.....if I want my TF3D i need to reboot it.....but if I on the TF3D I can swap to SPB anytime.....

absolutely excellent, having my appointments on the screen with a 1 button press to TF3D is awesome

Are you using SPB mobile shell or SPB pocket plus. I tried to reproduce it with SPB mobile shell, but the switching to TF3D worked for me after 15 mins.
BTW, it's not a program I wrote, found it on the net and realy liked it.

Combine SPB mobile shell and TF3D

Hi
Could someone please help me with this issue?
When installing SPB Mobile Shell 3 it automatically come up as default today screen. What I would like is to add it to one of the SW buttons and keep TF3D as my default screen and be able to toggle between these two home screens. No problem adding it to a SW button, but how can I tweak so that my TP2 unit automatically launches TF3D and not SPB Mobile Shell?
I think I have seen it some where but have not been able to find the thread yet.

Here's the thread where everything you need to know about SPB Mobile Shell is located. What your looking for is in this thread because I did what your wanting to do. But it's been too long ago to remember exactly. I'm no longer using SPB Shell.
What I think you have to do is, download a second "today" widget and assign tf3d to it and then you can switch between the two.

Custom wallpaper for lockscreen ONLY?

Is their anyway to put a custom wallpaper JUST for the lockscreen? The only way I know is to go to settings > today and "use this picture as the background". BUT the start menu gets the image too which I don't want.
Is their a regedit or something where I ONLY want the lockscreen to have a custom wallpaper?

You should install CHT 1.8, that allows you to skin every part seperately

Ummm, this is a TP2 forum. You might have more luck posting on the HD2 forums. My TP2 does not have this behavior.

well they say my tilt 2 is the same as a tp2 so i thought i might have some luck here. i tried the edit the stwater 480_800 file, but it changes the background on everything else too.
i didn't like the s2u2 since it intefered with my dusk lock 3.0 but would love to have a different screen instead of just transparent over my dusk ga background. i opened the cpr file but can't tell what to change to bring up the background i want.
does cht 1.6 work with a stock rom on a att tilt 2? i'm still a noob and not ready to flash yet since there are just too dang many roms to choose from and iwouldn't know how to pick one.
i've got a stock rom with tf3d (manila 2.1) wm 6.5

You should try CHT 1.8, it has some awesome new features like switches, and the custom wallpapers for each screen. It won't damage your system, and yes it's 6.5 compatible!

yes it is 6.5 compatible, but, i have manila 2.1.19183217.0 (tf3d) tried a couple of cookies mods before but most wouldn't work, because of the manila version i guess. alot of the mods i have tried for sense won't work either.
and if they list 2.5 in the requirements i don't even bother anymore, after 5 hard resets and it taking me 2 weeks to find everything again. although i did get smart enough to keep my cabs on the storage card after the last time

Oh yeah sorry you said you were using manilla 2.1, but why do you keep a stock ROM and don't use for instance the DeepShining x8, it's really nice!

basically because i am still a noob. just started doing registry edits a couple months ago(read computer illiterate except for games). and if i brick my phone i can't afford a new one. if i can somehow get it covered by insurance(throw it under truck) its still a $150 deductable i don't have, otherwise its $400
2.5 has some really neat stuff but i need to do alot more reading on it first.

You shouldn't need to install anything special to make this work. In fact, it's pretty simple once you know the way. Go to settings-->Personalize-->Lock Screen Wallpaper (when it asks "Would you like to use the default wallpaper?) select no and then select your wallpaper. Enjoy

on a stock att tilt 2 with manila 2.1(tf3d) and wm 6.5 there is no option for that, just the homescreen wallpaper. would be nice though.
i am using dusk_6.5_lockscreen_v3.0 with Dusk ga wallpaper and i love em both, but i just want a different pic for the lockscreen.
now can anybody tell me why without any changes to taskbar or wallpaper my taskbar is a solid black, which then changes to a crappy grey when i put the wallpaper or taskbar on(tacchan23 dusk taskbar with the the cmda fix too) and where do i fix it at.
