The problem with making a theme for froyo is that what we have isn't the final release. Mysteryemotionz put it very plainly to me: It is simply a "proof of concept" that signifies a completed project to come. So the framework (the files which control the on screen visuals)of the DJ29, the DK05 and the DK17 releases are all different, which leads me to believe that the final release will be different as well. I don't want to create something that will have to be redone in a matter of days/weeks. It makes sense, and the second the OTA comes out I'm going to start working on themes for it.

Does dk17 and dk05 run faster than dj29 and which do u think is best. Im afrais to flash dk05 cuz of modem issues ive heard about is there the same problem with flashing dk17. Which version of froyo is likely to be released officially do u know thomas? Btw thanks man I appriciate it.

Nobody knows for certain what the final version will bring, but I would make the assumption that it will be the most like DK17, simply because that is the latest revision. In terms of speed and stability, they are all beta versions that do contain bugs. I have extensively tried DJ29 and DK05, and they both seem relatively the same, so I imagine there isn't a huge difference, if any at all, between the 3 versions.

If you grab the latest SGS tools from this site it has the option of downloading the 5 icon dock AndroDENA themed touch wiz for your phone. Works for dk05 did not work on dj29 (at least for me)
Like thomas said. Anything built for dj29 will not work for dk05. Anything for dk05 will not work with dk17. Last I checked the ota is scheduled for the 23rd.so if that's the case it would be called dk23. I stopped all work due to this. Once the latest ota is official I will start my work and so will everyone else. I know thomasskull666, idkwhothatis, and dreamsforgeten are waiting for my framework. Me personally I got alot of tricks up my sleeve playing around with dj29 so be patient young grass hoppers. We do this for free so deving for every beta is pointless

Not gonna lie, once a 2.2 theme is created, it takes like tree-fitty minutes to copy and paste images to another model of froyo. That's why I gots a DJ29 and a DK05 version of my theme

Ok so 2.3 is called gingerbread??
Can someone tell me what is so good about 2.3 and what it has or does that 2.2 does not/does not do.
Also will the EVO ever get it..

As for whether or not the Evo will get it, that is not confirmed yet. Although I'm sure Sprint might push for it. They didn't even knock out the Epic 4G's Froyo completely yet (they are close I think).
If the Evo does get it, I hope that Sprint doesn't take their sweet ass time pushing it out.

But obviously we wont be installing it from sprint OTA and lose root, i would imagine we will be waiting till a dev releases a custom version...

Of course. But I meant that once the OTA is out its much easier for DEVs to use that as a base to punch out their ROMs. Leaked or open sourced versions are good practice to mess around with but usually pretty bugged. But working with an OTA as a base would be better. Hurry Sprint! Gingerbread go go! I wonder if the new ASOP will be better than Sense. lol

Just the template, deodexed, optimized, zipaligned, flashable on rfs, nothing fancy, anyone have a link?
Sent from my Epic 4g
A deodex template doesn't exist for dk28, when it was released here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=861220
it was pre rooted, zipaligned, and all before hand thus a deodex was never needed. You can get everything you need from the zip.
I have no clue if the md5 from who's the man is deodexed or not but it doesn't say it is in the thread so I'm guessing it's not. Also note gmail market, etc have still received updates since so beware of those out of date

Confusing wording, hes looking for a deodex theme template, an update zip that deodexes a stock phone rop make it compatable with themes. It contains all the stock apps deodexed and zip aligned for speed increases. There is usually one for each rom, but dk28 was a leak and came set up like that from the go.

Not sure what your talking about there. Acs leaked it that is the only way it comes. It's hard to say somethings missing or changed when that is the way it was released? I dont know tbh.
I know they deodexed, zipaligned it as far as taking anything out youll have to pm rjmjr to find out if there is a copy of the original, he'll probably share it.
Edit: now I know what your talking about! I forgot that this build was actually released on the google servers. You probably can find that one using google. Search for Epic 4g gets official froyo. When oft happened the sites mirrored it as official. Its buried here too the google server link but I dont think they are still hosting it since it wasn't supposed to be.

Whn I asked tis, I got flamed for "being impatient with the devs" and noobnl got insulted lawl
But apparently, its just a developer thing
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Because most other phones have a froyo kernel source to start with. Damn the flaming it could be done its possible, but by the time someone wrote the drivers for the Epic from scratch or edited the ones from eclair, we would have been given froyo source. So the answer is it's possible, but why do all that work when it its being done for us. Now if the source hits and we dont see a work in progress its cause the few epic devs there are dont feel like it/ or dont have the time. On a positive note the epic is fairly new, and with more people buying them, I'm sure it will only get better for us.

Google released their generic gingerbread. There are many things that have to be modified or built specifically for our phones that aren't in google's code, like drivers and kernel modules. Our phones aren't the generic standard that gingerbread was built for.
So, with all the development going on with EC05 & EE03 we at Android Anonymous are having a hard time deciding which to build and develop for. It's really up to you guys, so i'm putting a poll to decide.
Let me know. It's a lot of work to develop for both builds at the moment.
I'm on EE. Although it's a leak, I'm guessing AA would be able to use at least some of the EE work to the next gingerbread builds. Right?

Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
I would say EC05 I really like how stable the EE03 rom is but its not official, best bet is to stick to official builds
Sent from my SPH-D700
Then what happens if another leak SOMEHOW comes out? What then? Just stick to official, but learn the frameworks of gingerbread if you can in the meanwhile.
I'll just speak for myself and say, as soon as I'm done porting Dark Horse over for EC05, I'm moving all my efforts to porting all of my current work to EE03.
I hate to say it but I think we should focus on getting moving for EE03. EC05 has plenty of themes already and also many capable themers out there to continue onward with theme development.
I believe our best devs/themers should be focusing on GB since that is where were headed next. I also believe from the work I've already done with GB that unless Sammy/Sprint does some crazy major changes to the frameworks and SystemUI.apk and other important theme files that everything we do now in EE03 should carry over to future builds/official GB.
I'd say ec05. Ee03 is to slow with rfs. Wait for official gb to come. Lookat all the people jumping from ee03 cause it was to buggy or to slow.
Sent From My Evo Killer!
I say EE03. Even though EC05 is faster and all, it already has a lot of themes. Even though EE03 might be a bit slow with a theme, it's still an opportunity EE03 users get if they want. Very few themes are for EE03 and it's a shame we don't have much variety, even if it is a leak.
Im on EE and even though people say it's "not complete" it's given me better results than any other ROM I have used, including battery life.

hey barnacles,
if you grab the 'official' rom from miui.com or even the int'l sgs2 miui port from xda, all you need to do is swap the zimage with one of the epic 4g touch's (like LoStKernel) and it will boot up and function (maybe what the OP of this thread did, didn't download to see). Data and wifi were no go. If I remember, the cameras were working though unlike what this OP says. I've been working on this here and there but I definitely dont have as much free time as I'd like as I'm getting ready to move to the other side of the earth.
I'll be more than happy to answer questions and/or help development going as soon as I can put some time aside to work on this.

I'm not a fan of the MIUI ROM(its to iPhone-ish IMHO) but I still wanted to say thank you for this post. Although I know it wasn't its purpose, it did point me to the SkyRocket's Development, and Themes & Apps Section, and man do they have some goodies over there, which I never would've found had it not been for this post, so thanks again!
so you essentially made small tweaks and got aosp based rom from sgs2 int to boot? if so, nice. I wonder if this works with CM7 as well.
