[Q] Anyone know if the 16GB Omnia 7 even Exists? - Windows Phone 7 General

Cant find a 16GB Omnia 7 anywhere, i heard it was gonna be in Germany. Just wondered as wanted to know if i could find out exactly what NAND memory they are susposed to be using for it. If i find out, ill be tempted to remove my 8GB memory and solder in the 16GB NAND memory. If it dosnt work, ill just have to send it in to the service repair centre..... hey wait a minute, couldnt i just send it in to them and ask them to do it for me so i dont void my warranty??

I am hoping that the 16GB Omnia 7 is the one destined for Verizon with LTE compatability.

unfortunately i doubt it. you already have the focus which is pretty much the same inside except it has the microsdslot! so your best bet is to get the focus!

The Focus is on AT&T, I am talking about Verizon. Verizon has had all the other Omnia's (i910 and i920) so I don't see why they wouldn't get the 7. I am just hoping it will be compatible with the new LTE network that will be up and running in my area. (plus an expandable memory slot )

Well it's definitely true that all the Omnia 7 in germany seem to have 16GB as they are already available in most online shops here. But sadly I couldn't find anyone who has this device atm.

The 16GB version is now widely available in Germany.
Many online shops got them. Some of they say it's the Tmo branded one, but they are still sim-lock free and the only branding that will not go away, is the start screen animation (there is no hardware branding).

Yes,
i have bought one yesterday in a t-mobile shop.
Without a phone plan from t-mobile. When you buy it in the shop it coast´s more than in the online shop of t-mobile.de. There you can buy the Samsung Omnia 7 also without a phone plan.
The Omnia 7 has 16 GB. It is a nice device. Very fast.
No reboots like the user of HD7 reports and really nice display.
I have fun with this device

care to link to any of those stores? i only find them on ebay.

Here are some links. Dont know about shipping though. Just drop them a line and they should ship it internationally.

You can only get them in Germany for some reason.

Cool, I just asked about that in the Omnia 7 thread... Anyone knows if one of these shops sells branding free (hardware and software)?
Amazon doesn't mention if it's 8GB or 16GB

There are no branding free omnia 7 phones here in Germany. They all come from tmobile.
But, you can delete all the installed tmobile apps. The only thing that stays is the tmobile boot up logo (max. 3 seconds) and the search page IN the internet explorer when you press the hardware search button. Mms seems to be locked to tmobile so far too.
There is NO hardware branding on the device itself. No stickers, nothing. The package comes also unbranded and tmo is not even mentioned anywhere.
I'm using the phone with a german o2 sim so its not simlocked either. Overall I would buy the phone again in a heart beat if I had to chose. Impressed with everything so far and eagerly waiting for the 1st update

Yes, the device is unlocked, you can put any carrier sim into it and yes you can switch regional format & language to french. Be aware that only T-mobile branded devices have 16 GB of storage - the unbranded have only 8 GB. Fortunately a lot of shops sell the branded devices without a contract. I'd recommend to flash the I8700XXJK1 Firmware found in the Omnia 7 forum to unbrand the device. You will also receive faster updates from Microsoft with an unbranded device because they don't have to be approved by the carrier.

I am pretty sure that you can buy it from a UK online retailer and use it on AT&T, however you would also need to buy an adapter for US plugs.

Why would you want the Omnia 7 vrs the focus? omnia 7 does not have external storage, and its thicker and i dont think you will get 3g..
hmmmm.. I thought it was the same phone as the focus, minus the ATT software and it is square instead of curved.
the reason I wanted it was cause it is available tommorrow and cause I think the square corners look nice than the focus (IMO)
but if it is as you say, perhaps waiting till november 8th is the way to go

You'll not get 3g coverage. Only Edge using a Euro spec phone in the US.

Samsung Omnia 7 Three UK

Sadly it would appear that Three in the UK are not currently listing the Samsung Omnia 7 as available dispite WP7 listing them as a carrier
Anybody got any inside info on why this is?

Omnia 7 in the UK is available through T-Mobile / Three / Orange. But following a series of great deals for this handset, I can confirm it's currently out of stock on T-Mobile, so I assume that is the case with Three. For the past few weeks Omnia 7 has been offered for £15.33/15.00 pm on T-Mob/3 respectively.
I wonder if the device is being heavily subsided by Microsoft/OEMs or the carriers themselves?
I.e. are the carriers trying to get rid of their Omnia 7s or is it a concerted push by MS to try and increase their share of the market..?

I don't think it's a MS attempt, because all the other WP7 handsets retain their £20-30 pm price bracket, at least in the UK market. (HTC 7 Trophy being the only exclusion). The Omnia7 (the 16GB edition) was offered in Germany, from T-Mobile @ 199eur (~£176) on PAYG, as well.
It seems strange, though, cause if there is one WP7 device that enjoys some success, that's the Omnia7. Just a wild guess, the Omnia7 was close to hit end of stock, and was offered on discount to clear.
T-mobile appear to be absent of Omnia 7's too ?
The reason I looked is that I ordered one earlier in the week for my father, he had play with mine before saying get one to replace his wm6.2
colleague wants a cheap smart phone again I showed him mine & said look for a Omnia 7 on T-mobile or three, from £15 the three deal comes with .5 GB of data
I got a report that the phones ain't there.
Orange don't have an Omnia just a Mozart

[Q] Spanish users, can you guys help me?

Hello there!
I'm really sorry for opening this thread, but I didn't found any way of asking that for a Spanish
I'm in Madrid and I will take advantage of my trip to buy the Galaxy Nexus. I know it will be sold exclusively by Vodafone, but I wanted you to know how do I buy a SIM-free? I'm not sure if they sell without a contract.
So I'm here asking for your help, do you have any tips on how I can buy the Galaxy Nexus?
Sorry for my English!
Thankfully, Lucas.
there are a lot of Vodafone stores around Sol. if they have the phone & do not have it "unlocked", you can ask them to unlock it or have it unlocked elsewhere yourself. there are lot's of websites that will unlock phones for around $20
[edit] sorry i lived in Madrid for awhile but i don't really speak spanish. lol
look mate,i already buy mi Galaxy Nexus in a vodafone shop in Goya street. But you can't buy it there cause you will need to stablish a contract with the carrier. So i will say you ,to go to the phone house shop, which should have the galaxy nexus sim free to adquire it directly paying 650 Euro.
Hope you find one,cheers.
Basically, carriers in Spain don't sell sim-free phones. Only a few stores sell sim-free versions and in this case you'll need to find a "The Phone House" store which might stock it. Considering it was just released in Spain you might not find it in stock.
Thanks for the replies!
As I understand, no carriers sells the unlocked Galaxy nexus? What other option I have because I will not use it in Spain.
And why the price of the Galaxy Nexus here in Spain is much higher than the rest of europe?
I think what i really want to know is what would you do if you were in my place? What is my best option

if you can't find it for a good price there then just wait until you are somewhere that has it for a good price(or order online)....
but as i said, for unlocking, you can also do that online. just google "cell phone unlocking" and there's a bunch of sites that will do it for you.... so it doesn't matter if you buy it locked or unlocked.

I matters because I don't want to pay for the 6 months plan, and I'm leaving Spain after 12/24/2011, so I can't wait that long..
What do you think, is it better if I buy from this site (http://www.clove.co.uk/samsung-galaxy-nexus-16gb) and not on Vodafone?
I'm really confused here, please help me

if you are going to "unlock" the phone anyway, then it doesn't matter if you get if from the UK or from Spain... just as long as it is GSM(uses a sim card).
since you are going to unlock it anyway you'll then be able to use it on your own carrier.
for instance, i've had blackberry phones from vodafone before and unlocked them & used them here in the US.

My problem isn't the fact that it is locked. My problems is getting charged for a service that i won't use.
As I said, find a store called "The Phone House", its a chain of stores that sell unlocked phones. They will sell you an unlocked Galaxy Nexus, if they have it.
There is no other way of getting it in Spain.

O2 Germany 32GB Lumia 900

http://wmpoweruser.com/o2-germany-claims-to-have-a-32-gb-nokia-lumia-900/
Wishful thinking but is this why O2 UK haven't any stock?
That is surely a mistake otherwise they would be shouting about it wouldn't they?
EDIT: well it seems that post has been updated with confirmation from O2 Germany of the spec. Interesting.
In a way I am glad of this, I now know to get one from Germany if the UK spec ones if they ever show have just 16GB, Hate the fact that we get everything last in UK, At least O2 Germany appear to be doing their customers proud with such a great Handset, Well Jel
When it says "confirmed by O2 customers service" here's what I picture happened;
WMPowerUser: Please can you confirm how much memory the Lumia 900 has?
Customer Service: Sure, let me check that for you.
At this point, they consult the website / catalogue, which as we all can see says 32Gb.
Customer Service: That phone has 32Gb memory.
WMPowerUser: Brilliant, thanks. Goodbye.
O2 had the omnia 7 with 16 gb of memory while everybody else had it with 8 gb of memory, i think that there is something here.
So are you saying Nokia have a seperate production line producing 32Gb 900's solely for the German market?

That was T-mobile, not O2
I believe the Germans also have a 32GB HTC One X, I wonder why they get these privileges on storage
I just can't see this, it'd sort of sound like suicide for Nokia as it'd alienate customers in other countries.
well like i said, o2 did have a history of producing larger storage in their devices, so i would not be suprised, and so what now there would be an option for 32 gb noia lumia 900!
O2 updated the page and it now shows 16GB.
Wow they certainly made a big Typo there lol, Well spotted.
Funnily enough I emailed Nokia earlier today to ask for confirmation and now it's been corrected. Seems the journos didn't clarify things after all.

Dubai note 7 recall?? HELP

Alright... So basically... I was on holidays in Dubai over the last few weeks. And, over there, I was lucky enough to buy a note 7 SM-N930FD, from an official Samsung store. I had bought the phone on the 28th of august.. before the recall. Now I'm back home, in the UK, reading about the note 7 recall and have absolutely no idea how to proceed. I don't want to send my note 7 back to Dubai because I'll have no phone in the meantime and it just seems like a lengthy process. Is there a way that I can maybe get my device exchanged here in the UK? Or what are my other options?

Samsung UK are being pressed to replace the handsets with local variants. If you don't mind a UK variant you should have no problems. (Initially Samsung refused to swap at all!)
A few have said that Samsung service providers are exploring swapping out for the same model but I can't see that working. Most companies of the world only swap out a device for the local variant available in the country you're doing the exchange.
contact Samsung is your best bet......
accept the local variant, thats all
The fastest way is to directly contact a Samsung
Its easy tho, I purchased note 7 from Kuwait now I am in India (my home country). Here, Samsung delayed sale of note 7 that means till now no official launch of note 7 nor they have started any recall (obvious, they haven't sell single note 7 here). Now my question is how should I go for replacement? Help

Thanks, fortunately one of my friend went Kuwait today so I send my phone with him. :victory:
Got a call from Samsung UK. Basically stated they can swap the dual sim phone for the one sold in europe so single sim - coral blue or black.
Asked about getting the dual sim as replacement and they said I would have to sort it out with the region the phone is bought from - so Qatar in my case.
Might just get the UK version with its two year warranty
