Upgrade From 3.26 to 3.30 OTW? - EVO 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Im not rooted, but in my attept to root, i went down to 3.26 but now i dont get updates to upgrade n stuff due to trying to use unrevoked 3.21 on hboot 2.02 or whatever. is there like an RUU .EXE file i can use to upgrade my system or what?
or if someone can help me root my phone at this point, and thennn update, it would be great.
running Win7

ur situation: hboot 2.02, hard to root. software 3.26, not a bad start. ran unrevoked, bad! unrevoked messes with stuff an ruu can't fix. contact the unrevoked team, as they have not released thier methods so htc cant fix them. they will help you somehow.

Do I need to upgrade unrevoked?

Hello I am sorta getting the hang of this rooting process but I have one question...I see new versions of unrevoked are periodically released, do I need to do anything with those? I rooted my phone a while back and thus used an older unrevoked. Will using a new unrevoked do anything for me?
Sorry if its vague
Look at the change log:
http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked3
If you are Unrevoked Forever and have s-off, there is no need to update. Unrevoked puts updates out when Google drops an update that closed the loop hole on a previous version.

[Q] Unable to root DHD after downgrade. What to do?

anyone out there knows how to root DHD after downgrade? i downgraded my unit to 1.32 after 2.2.1 update (via OTA) messed with my rooted DHD. i used goldcard. now i cant root using visionary or z4root. just shows "rooting device, please wait" but nothing happens. i even reflashed it thinking that something went wrong with the 1st downgrade.
any idea what to do next? i really need to root my DHD.
i used this downgrade tutorial...http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=905003
Have you tried to RUU 1.32 and then start over with visionary, you will loose all data again though
Regards
i reflashed again using RUU_Ace_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.32.707.1_Radio_12.28a.60.140e_26.03.02.08_M_release_153610_signed.exe but still the same. i think the problem is i already have my DHD S-OFF. My unit is already rooted using visionary before i upgrade via OTA. when i downgraded, my unit is still on S-OFF. i'm trying to find a way to turn it on again without rooting. i even tried manual root but still no luck. any suggestion?
I don't think that it matters that you are already S-OFF, I flashed back to stock with RUU couple of times while my phone is radio S-OFF. Just could root again with visionary with no problems at all.
hmmm.... that is the only reason i can think of that may be causing my DHD not to root. i'm planning to try unrEVOked 3.32. any thoughts on it?

No sorry, I'm not familiar with unrEVOked , sorry
everything went well without error with the OTA update, downgrade & reflash. can't seem to find any DHD owner with same problem as i am.
UnrEVOked will not work, it is useless to even try. Try uninstalling Visionary, and install the latest version from MoDaCo forums, you can find an official thread there.
By the way S-OFF does not interfere with the OTA in any way.
We can downgrade the system to a lower version to solve this problem
i'm already using the latest version of visionary (r14). seems odd coz everyone seems able to root after downgrade using visionary except me. it used to work for me before though. duno what went wrong now.
I seem to have the same problem as you. I downgraded due to a problem with my Device not being able to boot up after powering down. It worked perfectly after the downgrade but after that i tried rooting again with the visionary and easy radio tool. Got the same problem. I do achieve permroot. But i cannot Radio S-OFF. when i do that then i get these problems.
Were you able to solve your problem?.

Downgrade from 2.3 to 2.2 problems

Hey!
I have problems downgrading to 2.2, since I dont like the new update at all. Alot of bugs and etc.
So I've tried installing the RUU from the computer, also renaming the file to PB99IMG.zip and putting it into the memory card.
Ive done this a thousand times when unrooting but now I get the error that my bootloader is up to date or something like that, I don't really remember.
Anyone who can help me ?
Thanks
EDIT: I get the error 140 bootloader error
Edit: It appears you can now unlock the bootloader and gain root access

Is it possibly to root my phone and flash in a rom, and then unroot the phone to 2.2 froyo like I've always used to?
Understand that the hboot is locked with it locked you cannot do anything untill someone or team alpha and unrevoked come up with something that can..
Damnit, the damn 2.3 update sucks. Well then I have to wait then, I regret updating. I should have stayed on the 2.2.
2.3 update has just been unlocked using revolutionary!
yeah but i dont know the meaning of that.. im not used to s-off and i dont wanna brick my phone..
But if someone could do a quick guide for me for this s-off thing, and how to go back to the standard 2.2 froyo without s-off and root. By that I mean, that the phone is back to it's standard after doing this revolutionary.
Thanks

Unrooting, just want to make sure.

So the usb port on my EVO is messed up. Sometimes I have to wiggle it around in order for it to charge and if I move the usb cable it disconnects. This also makes it a hassle to transfer files between my phone and PC. I want to bring in my phone to repair, so I have to unroot it. I just want to make sure I go about this correctly. I want to unroot it and have it still be rootable again. I don't know what information you guys need, I'll give you as much as I can.
Hardware 0003
I rooted it with unrEVOked 3 and I didn't have to use the unrEVOked forever s-off patch, the unrEVOked 3 did that. I rooted it stock (did not update ever). I'm currently running a 2.3.5 rom with HTC Sense 3.5.
Would flashing Forever S-ON and then a PC36IMG through hboot be all I would need to do? Would the phone be rootable again after they repair it?
Yes, put a pc36img of a stock rom on the root of the card, then reboot and run s-on tool. Or run s-on tool and then run a stock ruu.
My radios or anything like that don't matter?
Also can I have a link to a stock PC36IMG? I have one but I don't know if it's 2.2 or 2.3.
Edit: Nvm it's froyo! I will unroot and update you on my progress.
When I attempted to flash S-ON, I got an error:
Unsupported radio version.
I booted into HBOOT, my radio is currently 2.15.00.05.02
How do I downgrade (or upgrade, whatever I need to do) my radio?
vulf search for calkulkin's thread about radios. The thread has every radio starting from the beginning to the newest radio. Take an older one and flash it in recovery. You should be good to go.

[Q] Help with unrevoked radio: 2.15.10.07.07

So Ive been looking through the threads, and decided to try rooting with unrevoked 3.22, because the whole htcdev process looks like a real pain (and if I'm understanding things correctly doesn't achieve a full S-OFF with the ability to change radios)..
Anyhow, even the unrevoked process seems to start with the htcdev part, but I'm not sure how to proceed because my current radio isn't on the list of radios supported by unrevoked, and it is also older than what HTC lists as supported.
So the question is, do I have to do the OTA update before I can begin? That looks like my only option, but I'm just concerned if that is the correct process.. Also, having trouble finding a working copy of the unrevoked windows HBOOT drivers.
Anyhow, my version for the HTC part shows 4.06.605.3 when the HTCDev site wants me at 4.08.605.2..
Also, if it isnt clear, my main android version is 2.3.4..
Help?
I decided I couldn't wait, and forged ahead with the unrevoked method, doing a google search for the filename for the unrevoked hboot drivers (didn't bother to mp5 the version I got, it was that or nothing)..
Everything worked as expected..
